Week 12 [21-27.01.19] World of Tanks

World of Tanks is MMO game in real time developed in genre of tank simulator in historical setting of the second world war developed by Belarusian company Wargaming. This game positioned as strategy shooter. Main concept of the game is command tank fights in PvP. Release of this game was in August 12, 2010.

Game based on “free 2 play” scheme but developers declare “free to win” scheme when there is no need to pay to win and absolutely no benefits to players that are paying. Main reason why players pay is get some unique technik or styles or other benefits that are affecting on multiplayer balance.

Beginning of the game starts from 2 randomly created commands that consist of 15 players from each side at this time in one command can be tanks with different nations, years of production, real and experimental models. To win the game you need to kill all of the enemies or capture base by entering in to circle and staying in ‘till scale of enemy base capture will be full.
Communication and cooperation in the game between players can be conceivable with the help of chat or voice chat, also exist map where players can mark sectors on the map and describe where need the help or other related things.

In the game also exist fog of war and this is one of the main mechanics in gameplay. Each tank has its own value of view and this is mean that in case when enemy tank is staying in the distance of 350 meters, for example, and your radius of view is limited to 300 meters you cannot see or show it for your team and even if in real world this distance is not a problem in game it create one more mechanic that allow for light tanks that are moving quickly on map to highlight enemy tanks and your command in this case can shoot on highlighted target.

There are exist 5 main types of tanks:
  • Light tank - is usually fast and with good distance of view tank but it has minuses that consist of small armor and small fire-power. Usually this tanks used to highlight enemy tanks and destroy self-propelled guns when this is possible.
  • Medium tank - universal machine that has in general middle values on every balance position. Usually this tanks can help heavy tanks and can quickly move on map to prevent enemy movement from one to the other side or support command on some direction.
  • Heavy tank - is strong armored tank that has also good fire-power but has very slow speed and that's why it need some help from other tanks. Usually used to move on some direction and destroy enemy heavy tanks.
  • Tank destroyers - has the highest fire-power and difference value of armor. Usually support heavy or medium tanks beside and don't designed to fight on small distances.
  • Self-propelled guns - main schtick of this tanks is that they can shoot in to a long distance and can stay on the other side of the map. Usually used for support some movement by shooting on positions where other tanks can’t reach enemy.

I’ve hear about this game many times because it’s popular and many people have opportunity to play it. I’ve also tried to play this games but after 30 minutes I’ve got bored and I think that it’s simply not my genre of game. I don’t understand people spending so much time on this game but it’s a matter of taste.
Because it’s not my favorite genre, I don’t simply know other games similar to wot.
I generally don’t play often but if talking about MMO games – I don’t play at all.
I'm agree that it's a matter of taste but in this type of slow shooter I think this game is not so bad.
Same as Lukasz, I do not find MMOs anywhere near interesting. However, I have spent a couple of hours playing WOT with my friends. It was not fun either, so -- not my genre.
Yes, I have heard about World of Tanks, what is more, I was playing it for few years. I think this game can give a lot of fun. It has relatively simple and enjoyable gameplay, there are tanks and graphics is really nice (especially after they changed the game engine). However, I loved to play with heavy tanks and when they added high tier light tanks it becomes quite annoying. I understand that this game is not simulator and it is far from realism, but I would expect that hitting some light, small vehicle, like AMX 13 90 which weighs 15 tons, with 128 mm shell from close distance should wreck it. Unfortunately, it this game it won’t and in random battles I encountered packs of such light tanks many times. But I still like this game, and I play it sometimes.
I know very similar game, which is called War Thunder. It has much more complex damage model, bigger maps and better realism, but it is less enjoyable for me than world of tanks.
Nowadays, when it comes to MMO I play mostly The Elder Scrolls Online, because I like complexity of this game and I can play it with my girlfriend.

Yes, I’ve heard about this game. First time I heard about it about 7 year ago, when it was new game and almost everyone boy in my school plays it. I also had tried to play World of tanks , but it’s got me bored fast. I think it’s good game with good graphics and optimization, but I don’t like this genre of games.
I’ve heard about War Thunder, but never try it because it similar to WoT, which I don’t like. In War Thunder you can drive tanks like in WoT and also you can drive ships and planes.
Now I don’t play at all, because I need to prepare to exams. When I had free time I can play once at week.

I will answer you with a question. Is there anyone who hasn’t heard about the World of Tanks (WOT) ? I used to play games similar to this one. Now I definitely prefer to play games like "battle royal" for example PUBG. In WOT I used to play maybe 3 times and I didn’t like it but I know that this game is very popular. Rather, I don’t know any of the similar games in this genre because this isn’t so interested for me. The answer to your last question will be very short because I don’t play at MMO games.
I definitely heard about WOT, I also played it for several years when the game was first published. At the very beginning of the game, she did not have so many branches of the development of tanks. The game was interesting and self-sufficient. Owing to its popularity, branches began to grow, tanks changed. Show up a new physics and graphics. But the presence of insanely different number of tanks, you do not understand how to cope with them. You do not know how to build tactics against a tank that you do not know. After the cardinal changes and policies of the company, Wargaming began to disappear from me personally. I stopped playing it for quite some time, just because of her big, unnatural variety. I heard about the war thunder and that many now play just in it. As I said earlier, I have not been playing MMO games for a long time, but very rarely I go to recall the past :) I get angry that I lose and go out :)

I've played WOT in high school, but then I've discovered War Thunder. Aaaaand, the truth is War Thunder > World of Tanks. Even in arcade mod it is more realistic, the amount of machines and their types is bigger and did I mention that Gaijin in one game done what takes three games from Wargaming? In WT you have tanks, planes, ships, even helicopters. Battle can include tanks and planes or ships and planes.
I wish I could play it more often, but I have exams and stuff.
Sure, don't exist 2 people with fully compatible tastes in all points of life and that's why you don't like this game :)
Yes, sometimes game developers make simplifications in to game-play to make it more comfortable for each player so I think that's why sometimes we don't have high level of realism.

I have heard about World of Tanks and even tried to play it, but for me this game is kind of boring. Nowadays Battle Royal genre games are getting more and more popular, for example PUBG or Fortnite are games that got famous incredibly fast and even other companies started releasing modifications to their games, but in Battle Royal genre such as Danger Zone in CS:GO. Companies believe that popularity of this genre could help them to get more players in different ages, but I don`t think so.
Sure, not everyone will like such slow game-play comparing for example to CS so maybe that's why you have no desire to play in it.
Yes, I also think that PUBG in the middle of game much more interesting that WOT.
I agree that this game has positive and negative sides (as almost every game) and this is only your choice to play in it or not :)
I have never played in War thunder but have heard about it a lot of times... need to try sometime to play in it :)
Yes, Battle Royal has much more active game-play usually but I think that even in WOT exist possibility to implement such genre but I not sure that a lot of gamers will be play in this type of battle :)

I not only heard about it I played it. It's pretty good. It's interesting genre of free to play games with decent engines and graphics. In addition, you can install it almost everywhere.

I believe there is like World of Ships, then War Thunder which would be same stuff but about planes.

I don't play much in general, but when I do I play Battlefield and I'm happy.
Yeap, I heard about it a lot, because it's very popular game. I don't like games like that. I like role playing games, open world games, atmospheric games. Because in such games you are doing what do you want, and you have interesting story. At the present you can find a lot of similar games, for example "World of Warships". At this game main concept is that you need to command ship and win with your teammates in battles. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to play, but when I was at school, I played with my friends a lot in such games.

I've heard about this game before, and have in fact played it a fair bit, though it was a very long time ago, when I was still going to middle school. I did not enjoy it that much - while I did get a few weeks of enjoyment out of it, eventually I got bored of it, though it's been so long that I don't really remember why. I do remember that I enjoyed playing artillery (SPGs) the most, though.

As for similar games in this genre, there are quite a few. For example, World of Warplanes and Warthunder are similar games, except with warplanes instead of tanks.

I don't really play MMO games - I don't really enjoy them too much. I prefer singleplayer games as well as more traditional multiplayer games.

Have you heard about this game? What do you think about it?

I've heard about it, but I didn't had a chance to play it. I don't have that much time to play like I had few years ago :(

Do you know similar games in this genre?

No, I don't

How often do you play in MMO games?

I've played World of Warcraft 2 years ago. It was fun, but this game is also very time-consuming. Right now I have maybe 1-2 hours per week, so you can't take advantage of MMO games with this little ammount of time :(

- Unfortunately no, I mostly play card games such us Hearthstone or Gwent.
How often do you play in MMO games?

2. War Thunder.
3. Nowadays I do not play any MMO games because I don't have enough time and do not know any good games.

Have you heard about this game? What do you think about it?
Yes I've heard about it. I is probabl more chalanging than it looks. Especially because you face other living and thinking humans in other tanks.
Do you know similar games in this genre?
I think there is also world of planes and world of ships.
How often do you play in MMO games?
I dont play games.
Have you heard about this game? What do you think about it?
Yes, I have heard about this game and I spent quite a lot of time playing it during school period. Now, I am not a gamer , but a few years ago I was into such games. I am very competitive and I loved playing with friends, this game satisfied both needs. However, this game had a lot of problems in terms of performance and balance, and I think they are still present.
Do you know similar games in this genre?
I know the main competitor of this game and obviously similar in case of gameplay and theme - War Thunder.
How often do you play in MMO games?
I don't play games now, only sometimes console games like MK or FIFA with my friends in cozy atmosphere.

Have you heard about this game? What do you think about it?
Yup, I heard of this game maaaaany times. I always think about 30+ years old people playing this game instead of a cool gameplay for teens. It's seems that you need to know a lot about tanks to play it, just beeing passionate. Also this game is known from annoying ads on youtube and other services.

Do you know similar games in this genre?
I heard about the game "War thunder". Instead of driving tank you're playing as plane, but heard that you can also try yourself on the battlefield beeing regular civil with basic gun. I don't know details cause I've never played it.

How often do you play in MMO games?
I stopped playing mmo games some time ago, not much. When I was younger I used to play some MMORPGs like Guild Wars, Metin2 etc. After that I played a lot of CoD series online and then I've played LoL, Dota2, Overwatch. Now I'd rather play single-player games cause you don'y need to listen to a bunch of annoying kids and just enjoy the story instead of yelling.

I have heard about World of Tanks. It's not the game I would like to play.
The same developer made World of Warplanes.
I hardly play any MMO games. I am more of singleplayer gamer like Uncharted, Alan Wake, Deadly Premonition.

Yes, I've heard about this game. It is very popular. I am not alone in playing computer games in general. I do not know a similar game. I do not play such games at all. Sometimes I play The Witcher or in Diablo from time to time.
I’ve played World of Tanks for a couple of weeks a few years ago. The quality of the game was good, and the gameplay was engaging, but some of the design decisions made by the authors made me eventually drop it for the sake of other titles. I recently picked up World of Warships from the same studio and ended up in a similar situation – played it for some time, and then just dropped it. I know of two titles that have a very similar “arena” mechanic – Robocraft and Crossout – though those titles add building your own vechicle on top of that. I prefer other MMO games and I’m capable of sinking a lot of time into them – hundreds of hours in Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV can attest to that. Studies have been taking a lot of time lately so I don’t spend as much of it in MMOs, but I expect to have more time for them in the future.

I played as soon as this game came out. But over time, I stopped playing. In general, the game is quite fun, but the community of this game is toxic. And you can play in it only with steel nerves.
And I heard about the World of Warships, because there are too many advertisements on YouTube about this game.
I used to play a lot in MMO games, mostly MMORPGs. But now I almost do not play.

Oh boy, this is a game where I have lost the most hours and I spent the most money on it ...: / As much as I experienced in it's a material for a book.
I know that the same label also makes planes and ships. I did not play too much, but the shit absorbed me the most.
I have been playing MMO games for years around 10, and I have been playing tanks since early Beta.

Have you heard about this game? What do you think about it?
Yup, I installed it once and after two-three games I uninstalled it. It's not bad game, but I personally dislike concept.

Do you know similar games in this genre?
I heard about game where you are controlling battleships, but I forgot that name.

How often do you play in MMO games?
Very rarely. Generally, MMO games are not for me. I'm getting bored after some days. I just don't have enough patience for this type of game. In particular, when we r talkin about grinding or leveling in boring quests.
In my history I very appreciate Vindictus and maybe I will try in future Ashes of Creation.
I have not only heard but also, I have played this game for few years. I enjoyed playing this game very much. I’m interested in World War II history, especially in vehicles so this game was perfect for me and it’s even better because it’s MMO. Unfortunately, I don’t know similar games because of lack of time but I would love to try others this genre. As I said earlier, I don’t have much free time to play so I don’t do it often. Actually, I have opportunity to play games from time to time, mostly they are old and well known but not only. Sometimes, I play new games because of my friends’ recommendation but also, I like to look for new ones on my own.
Unknown said…
I've even played it with my friends! It's a good and competitive game. I don't like tanks though, so I didn't stay with it for long.

Warships and Thunderblade (made by the same studio)? As I wrote, it's not my type of gaming, so I don't know many of examples.

I used to play MMOs a lot when I was younger! Now I prefer to spend my free time in other ways. I can say that I was raised by Tibia and Metin... ah, sweet youth times :(

1. I have heard about this game and I even played few hours in it. It's nice but it takes a lot of time to increase your skills to level which makes a gameplay more entertaining.

2. I can recommend the World of Warships. It's game made by the same studio but rather than playing a tanks you play ships.

3. I don't have a lot of time so I stopped playing MMO games. Now when I have time I prefer to play on my console in simple games like e.g. "Stick Fight".

I have heard about this game and even played it. A friend of mine really liked it and recommended it to me. Even though I was not really into tanks, I promised that I will try it. Well, I can say that I kind of enjoyed that. I had very mixed feeling about that. I was used to a bit dynamic games, where you would be constantly at action. But here, tanks were moving slowly, and it was the only problem for me. But I can say, that I really liked playing it with my friend. I think multiplayer was great, even though, it would take ages, in my perspective, to actually arrive to the point in a map, where you want to be. I know about a similar game called War Thunder. I didn’t play it but from what I know, it is kind of like World of Tanks, but also with ability to fight in the air by controlling war planes and on the water with ships. It seems more dynamic. Maybe I will try it someday with that friend of mine.

I've heard about World of Tanks moreover I know some guys that still are playing this game. I think that World of Tank is a formidable antagonist of marriage and all wives that every day have to fight with it.
There are some similar games in the market. I've heard that if you prefer air or sea fights there are MMO games that could meet your needs.
I play only one MMO game that called Poker Stars after I saw World Poker series and I hope that I would never play it for real money.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard.
