Week 3 [21-27.10.19] The Art of Misdirection

The Art of Misdirection Every day we try to concentrate our attention on something really important and mainly focus on our daily worries or problems. But it happens so that we lose sight of a lot and these "little things" in turn play a very important role in our lives. If we assume from a high perspective, it is obvious that each person has their individual reality and view of life. Each of us tries to be assembled and focused. Nevertheless, it is very easy to throw people off balance by simple Magical Misdirection! This is an approach that always makes me feel excited because from childhood it was quite amusing for me   to watch performing magicians.   Being able to control the sensory perception of individuals or even big audiences is so simple art nowadays. Eventually, I figured out that real "magic" is all about misdirection. How It works? It is necessary not to distract a person from anything, but, on the contrary, to switch his/her

Week 3 [ 21-27.10.19] Memory Capacity of the Human Brain

What Is the Memory Capacity of the Human Brain? In the age of information technology, we are used to the fact that any information should occupy a certain amount of memory in storage. And since memories are information, then sooner or later they must fill the amount of memory in a person’s head. But the human brain is not a hard drive where you can write information in free blocks. Source: https://revth.files.wordpress.com/2018/05/battle-for-the-mind.jpg Neurons communication The process of "recording" information in the brain occurs through the emergence of connections between neurons and the creation of neural networks. Each time, recalling a past event, we activate the neural connections associated with it. We can say that having a finite number of neurons (according to researches it is about 100 billion cell nuclei) a finite number of connections can be created inside the brain. This, in turn, might me

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] Will we still fly? The world is running out of pilots.

Before you start reading this blog, think about your own answer to the above question. Do you know your answer? Remember and let's move on. Source: http://theconversation.com/the-us-is-facing-a-serious-shortage-of-airline-pilots-95699 The biggest challenges for the aviation industry More and more people love to travel and willingly explore new corners of the world. The whole world is flying more and more often. The industry is developing very dynamically and this is to continue. According to the largest passenger aircraft manufacturer in the world, the value of the global civil aviation market in the world is now $ 8.1 trillion and will grow by $ 600 trillion over the next 10 years. This will also increase the demand for pilots. According to research, at least 800,000 must be employed in the next two decades. The US is facing a serious shortage of airline pilots Over 200 thousand dollars and 1500 hours of flying - these are some of the requirements to obtain

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] Fast fashion and it's true cost.

Recently, attending the summer course, I got a class, which was called “The sustainability in the fashion industry”. I was so shocked by the truth that lies behind the brand new sweater or tee from H&M. I want to share the experience with you. There is a movie, that is called “True cost”. You are free to watch it later on for yourself, it is a bit long for this blog post. So I am adding in a small review of it for you.   So, here are the questions: 1. What do you think about fast fashion? Had your opinion changed after watching this video?   2. Had your opinion changed after watching this video?   3. How do you think, will the world of clothing production change now, when the real situation is not a secret anymore? 4. Will you ever buy any unnecessary items from the “fast fashion” brand again?

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] Highsnobiety

Nowadays everything is developing, evolving so fast, that some people can not even notice the changes until they have grown to enormous size. In this article, I want to tell you about these tiny changes that gave birth to new, interesting and surprisingly interesting movement. It is called Highsnobiety. Let’s start with the bit of recent “history”. According to   Wikipedia Highsnobiety has started as a personal blog by David Fischer in 2005. But what private Instagram page gets its own page in Wikipedia you ask? The one that recently (in 2018) got a a 8,5 million venture capital financing. Now, in 2019,   the representatives of the Highsnobiety blog (brand, company?) are invited to the most important events in the street style segment of the fashion industry.   Wait, what? Why there is a whole article about some fashion blog? Like everything else in the world, this industry is evolving, and some blog, due to the new methods of promoting things made “some" hype aro

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] The fall of the king – Collapse of Thomas Cook

(source: https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/business/business-news/429816/greece-standout-destination-thomas-cook/ ) Thomas Cook was one of the oldest names in travel and one of the biggest travel companies in the world. It was the first company that offered package holidays to common people. A month ago the travel agency collapsed leaving 600 000 tourists abroad and 21 000 employees without a job. What could have happened to such a giant? At first glance it could appear that the company just hasn’t sold enough tours. But the main reason is not quite obvious and the collapse is a result of many years of bad financial decisions. At the end of its life, the company had about £3bn in debts either to its banks or to its suppliers. Money coming from package holidays sales was enough only for paying off an interest. The most direct cause of the collapse were unsuccessful “talks of the last chance” with banks and creditors where Tomas Cook failed to obtain £200m of extra funding in S

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] Microsoft Flight Simulator – A new benchmark in the world of game development

During this year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) Microsoft announced its new game – Microsoft Flight Simulator. MFS is about to use modern technical solutions such as serving game’s data from cloud storage or using artificial intelligence to fill incomplete terrain. Moreover, the game’s world is based on real world’s weather and year cycle data and it uses a satellite imagery for its graphics. These features, apart from the whole extremely complicated simulation mechanisms, could take game development to a whole new level. Let’s watch a short video that presents brief information about the game. (source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD2_zzQi7bQ) Here are some questions about games, economy and flying: 1.   Using cloud storage as games’ source of data we could experience e.g. gigantic in-game worlds such as one in the MFS. Do you think cloud based games are the future of gamedev? 2.   What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland?

Source:  https://www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/the-university-of-nuclear-bombs/Content?oid=13673663 Probably each of us wondered what would happen if somebody nuke d the city with just 1 nuclear bomb. Only just one. Not to mention a massive attack.  Watch the video: Now you can imagine what would happen if a massive attack was carried out on different cities. Questions: What do you think about the effects of a nuclear attack on the city presented in this video? What is your opinion on nuclear weapons? What are the pros and cons of having nuclear weapons? Purely theoretically... If you heard that a massive nuclear attack is approaching your country - what would you do?

Week 3 [21-27.10.19] Obesity - a worldwide problem

Obesity - a worldwide problem Our world is full of contrast, on the one hand the cult of the body reign in our world, on the other hand a lot of people suffer from obesity and overweight and today I would like to focus on this worldwide problem. The obesity is not only a phenomenon in the richest countries but also it increases at an alarming way in poor nations. Statistics show that in 2016 about 13% of the world's adult population were obese and in comparison, to 1975 the worldwide prevalence of obesity tripled. Based on reports we can say that obesity is a global health problem. The United State is one of the fattest country and what it is interesting enough the fast food in this country is cheaper than healthy food. From an early age people perceive fast food or other unhealthy products as a wholesome meal. The reasons of obesity in the Persian Gulf look different, because in that rich country corpulence is perceived as a sign of prosperity. https://ourworldin
