Week 4 [16.11-22.11] Why the left lost the war with the alt-right on the internet?

If you have not heard about alt-right,  it ’ s  a far-right movement  that began,  according to George Hawley, in 2008.  It is a loosely organized  anti-systemic   movement,  and its main fundaments are  white supremacism, racism, and misogyny.  Some people  even  compare alt-right to neo-Nazism . How did it happen, that s uch an  extreme movement became so  successful in 21 st  century ?  It’s  because it has won  the meme war  on the Internet.    Participants of the"Unite the Right" alt-right rally From the beginning of that movement alt-righters where aggressive towards their political enemies. Because they were  mainly present  on sites like 4chan or reddit where user s   are   given much more anonymity than more popular social media such as Facebook, they  didn’t   hold  back and used  offensive language or even death threats against people with opposite views.  Because of the lack of responsibility, they became increasingly radical  and  weren’t  afraid of fighting peop

Week 4 [16.11-22.11] Why some of us don't have one true calling?

What do you want to be when you grow up?. It is the question that everyone heard when they were a kid.  For me, the answer was “programmer” since I was in middle school.   In this video  Emilie  Wapnick  describes a kind of people whose answer  to that question   is not that simple.   Q uestions:   Do you remember what you wanted to be when you were a child?  Do you think it’s okay to ask young people that question and expect them to know the answer? Do you consider yourself a multipotentialite? If not, then what is your “true calling”? Or maybe you haven't found it yet?

(Week 4 16.11 - 22.11 ) Mukbang

What is mukbang ?  ... Eating, to be more precise eating tones of food.  Watching someone eat is not like any kind of fun or intrigue, but once you dive deeply into the world of "mukbangers", you realize that there is a huge sect of society that actually loves to watch as masters stuff their faces with lots and lots of food. Here I found a video " Untold Truths About Mukbang!!!" and yeah it is really really weird   1. What do you think about the video? 2. Do you think is it possible to eat that much food and stay slim and healthy?

(Week 4 16.11 - 22.11)12 Real-Life Exorcisms That Actually Happened

The belief that evil spirits can possess humans has been terrifying people throughout history. That's probably why the history of exorcism is littered with horror stories such as these. WARNER BROS/KOBAL/SHUTTERSTOCK Exorcism: A tale as old as time Most people may not know what it’s actually like to be an exorcist. Exorcism came to everyone’s attention with the release of the 1973 film  The Exorcist,  which was based on the book  The Exorcist  by William Peter Blatty. The author drew from the real-life exorcism of Roland Doe (more details to follow). But exorcism has been part of virtually every religion throughout recorded history. Ancient Babylonian priests performed exorcisms via a voodoo-like rite. Ancient Persians were saved from demonic possession via holy water, and the Bible recounts many times when Jesus Christ cast out demons from people believed to be possessed. These are the spookiest ghost stories from each state. 1778: The exorcism of George Lukins In

Week 4 [16.11-22.11] Strange water testers in Warsaw's waterworks

Have you ever wondered how the purity of the water that flows from your kitchen tap is checked? Mussels turned out to be the answer to this problem. Mussels have a natural ability to determine the quality of the water they come into contact with. In a typical environment, mussels restrict dirty or contaminated water to avoid damage or poisoning by closing themselves. When the water is clear, the clam opens. This simple mechanism is foundation of testing purity of water in Warsaw. It is called biomonitoring.   "Unio tumidus" (Skójka zaostrzona) occurs in lakes and rivers practically all over Poland. The shell of this mollusk is 8-10 cm and is usually brown in color. They are very easy to breed and cheap to maintain. Due to their properties, they are great employees. They live for several dozen years, but after 3 months spent in the Warsaw waterworks, they are returned to the water reservoir where they come from.   After catching the healthy mussels, they are sent to

Week 4 [16.11-22.11] Future of gaming platforms.

Current year is full of positive and negative surprises. Global pandemic,   economic crisis and increasing global warming. There are significantly fewer positive ones. Gaming industry has a few of them, but a huge ones. This year will take place the introduction of next-gen consoles and graphic cards. PC vs Console Gaming      Many have thought that eternal, even holy war between the pc gamers and the console ones would be even more balanced.   The premiere of the next-gen consoles have promised hardware competitive to average price PC. This state would take place if Nvidia hasn’t introduced   the new 3000 series graphic card. Model 3080 is not really prevalent yet and has already been hailed as game changer. Benchmark shows that 3080 is more powerful by 38%, than so far the strongest card in word – 2080-Ti. This score is not biggest surprise in this introduction. New series cost about 700$ with price of previous gen on the level of 1300$. Together, this would create a l
