Week 12 [21-27.01.19] - Sound of 60s and 70's

Sound of 60s and 70's

Have you ever wondered what's that warm sound, that's being heard inrhythm and blues, rock, and reggae, progressive rock? How about black church and gospel? And those old american movies where you could find baseball and hockey stadiums where such specific music has been played. That was all possible by two guys who invented the electric organs called

Hammond Organs -

Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert

Sometimes Hammond was acompanied by rotating speaker - Leslie speaker - which created a deep, characteristic sound because of the constantly changing pitch shifts thatresult from the Doppler effect created by the moving sound source.

Let's hear that genre-changing instrument.

Have you ever heard about Hammond Organs or electronic organs?

Do you like 70's funk or gospel music?

Can you play any instrument?

Comments

Yes, I have heard about Hammond Organs and I actually enjoy the vibe which it introduced. As you described - it could be heard in old, american movies and it reminds me of a childhood and family movies with Whoopi Goldberg ;)
I like gospel music, I have always wanted to attend to this kind of mass where choir give you thrills when signing. I do not listen to gospel on everyday basis though.
I used to play the guitar but I haven't been playing for ages and I am not sure if I remember anything.

Sure, i've heard a lot about Hammond Organs and electronic organs, i really like it. It's kind of my mother's childhood, but i still enjoy it.
Do you like 70's funk or gospel music? I can't say that i'm a fan of it, but it is definitely a culture that was in 70's, so i can not respect it.
Unfortunately, i don't play musical instruments, but i will be happy to try it.
I used to play piano and a little bit of guitar and balalaika (I am russian, what would you expect haha), however, I have never listened to music from the seventies. I still prefer to listen the older bands like Iron maiden or Metallica, but they are from the ninties.

NAH,I don't like it, I don't like much music from the 60's and 70's. The only exception is jazz Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra,Louis Armstrong.

Can you play any instrument?
Unfortunately I don"t play instruments, I really wanted to learn, especially since I had the opportunity, my mother is a music teacher.

Yes, I know this instrument. I sometimes like to listen to such music, but I am a fan of heavier sounds.

I play electric guitar, but now a better term would be used to play ..
For lack of time, I am playing less and less ..

Yes, I've heard about them, I used to listen a lot to classic rock bands from 60's or 70's some time ago. The first song that comes to my mind when I think about Hammond organs is Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple and its intro. ;)
I don't listen to it on a daily basis, but I think that it's interesting and it's nice to listen to it from time to time. I really liked the examples you posted ;)
Yes, I play guitar, it's one of my biggest passions. It's really cool to have ability to make your own melodies, compose something. Unfortunately, recently I have less and less time to play. :(

Are you sure you didn't mean Child in Time by Deep Purple? ;) Like them very much.
1. Have you ever heard about Hammond Organs or electronic organs?
I didn't know how they are called, but I knew that there's such instrument. I don't really like it, but u associate it's sound with 70s.

2. Do you like 70's funk or gospel music?
Noo, I hate it ! Because of such music I hate all the musicals movies.

2. Can you play any instrument?
I was playing guitar for about 5 years, butI don't think that I would be able to play anything now.
Have you ever heard about Hammond Organs or electronic organs?
-I have never heard of them before, and probably won’t have a chance to see them in person.
Do you like 70's funk or gospel music?
-It is hard to tell. It’s not a type of music I would listen to on daily basis, but it feels like modern days’ artists, while looking for inspiration, are more and more keen on looking up to such classics.
Can you play any instrument?
-I had my episode with piano, but currently I’d describe myself as a master of playing on nerves ;)

Yes, I heard already how different organs sound, but I don’t really like such a musical instrument.
About my closer, funk music of the 70s, gospel music is very active and sounds releaseful. I also saw this in a movie, when everyone in the church sings.
No, musical instruments are not my vocation, but in my childhood I learned to play the guitar, and it worked out quite well for me, but it didn’t call for time or the desire to learn to play the guitar further.

Never. I love normal organs thou. The strength of them, the darkness in them, how it vibrates through body.

Do you like 70's funk or gospel music?
I like modern electro funk. Gospel is not in my taste. I prefer in general more dark tones, a bit of violin, drums, strong vocal.

Can you play any instrument?
I used to play piano. Kind of good actually. But it was a long time ago. Before the dark times. Before studies. ;) I used to have more time to do things that I love.
Of course, I have heard about Hammond and electronic organs and I have definitely listened to songs in which they appear.

I’m a big fan of the 70s and (especially) 80s music. I have a friend who also loves this era and we sometimes joke that we were born 20 years too late.

I’m currently learning to play the piano so I hope I will be able to answer this question affirmatively in the future. :) For now, I can only play the flute as it was taught on music lessons in primary and grammar schools.

I haven’t heard about Hammond Organs but surely I have heard some songs that included this instrument. I’m not a big fan of 70’s funk music, It’s something interesting from music history perspective but not necessarily for my taste. I unfortunately can’t play any instrument at a decent level. Though I have tried playing guitar and piano, but failed due to limited free time.

I can't play any instrument.

I'm probably quite far from the music. In general, I do not really understand it and it so happened that I did not learn to play musical instruments.

To be honest I don't know if I like it. It's hard to say. I think its good to listen to it sometime but just for a short time.

I can't play any instrument. I want to learn drums or guitar but it is really far dream. I admire people who can play any instrument and it really comes out beautiful.
Wont lie. I understand music is amazing. And it is not to knock. But I see why one of our issues in church is music is being glorified. Where the preached Word of God. Would people be attentive when the preacher is preaching the way they are awake during the playing.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases.
