Week 4 [27.03-02.04.2017] Higher education - is it a must have?

All our life we go to school. We leave kindergarten for primary school, then middle school and high school. We have to go there, this is the law we have to follow. But what is next? Our whole life is about what our next step will be. And for most cases, that is to get higher education. But do we have to really do that? It is totally up to us. We are lucky to live in the country where education in most cases are free. Look on Americans who are not in such a luck. But only because you don't have to pay for it doesn't mean you have to go. When you are in high school it is really hard to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. And that is ok. I felt the same way. There is nothing wring in having doubts and fear. If you are not sure you want to go to get higher education you should give yourself some time to think of it after all exams, without peers' pressure. Why waist time for something you don't like when you can just carefully think it through? Rem

Week 4 [27.03. - 2.04.2017] Young parents

Nowadays young parents is not something we see everyday, especially in big city. And when we do it is not something we look kindly on. We think about some teens gone wild and in most cases we are probably right. But is it always like that? Is it possible that sometimes young people make that decision on their own? We know in most cases decision about having a baby is pushed away because of education, career or living young life and going wild. It is even harder for us, guys. I know that I want to have children but in a future. And most of my peers think so too. But I found some reasons why having them now would not be such a bad thing. We have so many reasons for not having babies that we don’t actually think about reason to have them. And believe me there are a lot of them. Firstly, when you have children when you are in your early 20’s  you have so much more energy. Sleep or lack of it is not so bad when you are young. How many time did you have a sleepless night

Week 4 [27.03-02.04.2017] Do you have anything to hide?

Politicians craving for power is a never ending story all over the world, both in a democratic systems and a dictatorships. It has always been like that. Although classic surveillance and means of spying existed before the invention of a telephone,  mass surveillance is one of those issues that the newest technology made possible. I would like to emphasize word “ mass ” because of  its scale on a daily basis. In each place where “ smart ” devices operate, data is collected, stored and analysed. For our safety of course. Or is it …                 Mass surveillance doesn ’ t solve what it claims to solve. Terrorist attacks occurred, occur and will occur. Maybe instead of trying to prevent them using unethical means, we should consider the source of it. Should we take an easy path, give up our freedom for safety and one day find ourselves in an Orwellian reality. Do you feel your right to privacy is violated nowadays? Do you approve of mass surveillance programs? Do

Week 4 [27.03-02.04.2017] Be mindful and know thyself.

If you are living a modern lifestyle then being stressed and constantly under pressure is not a “ big deal ” . It ’ s also as healthy as taking a walk or an evening run through smog filled neighborhood. It ’ s neither good for your body nor mind and those two are what you should equally take good care of. As an old saying goes A sound mind in a sound body , you cannot keep a healthy body without a strong mind. Those two have to come in sync. Today I ’ d like to introduce you, dear reader, to the mindfulness state. What is it? Well, have you ever wondered what is this voice you are hearing in your head? For example, right now as you read through this text? Do you know where is it coming from? Are you aware of it? Is it “ you ” or maybe someone or something else? Mindfulness is all about being aware. Being in the moment. Aware. Of the surroundings, thoughts, feelings, yourself. A little experiment to conduct: next time you are angry at something don ’ t say “ Ohhh I ’ m so angry!

Week 4 [27.03 - 02.04] Hygge: Happiness for everyone

In 2012 Denmark took t he top spot in the United Nation’s first ever World Happiness Report , followed by Finland, Norway and the Netherlands. Last year, again, it turned out Danes are the happiest people in the world. How is it possible that in countries where it is cold and humid most of the time, people are the happiest? Hygge , the Scandinavian country’s latest gift to the world, may be the answer. Hygge is the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. There is no direct translation for this word (though “cozy” comes close), because it is often described as more of a feeling than a word. Oxford Dictionaries shortlisted hygge as one of their Words of the Year 2016. The word derives from a sixteenth-century Norwegian term, hugga , meaning “to comfort” or “to console”. It’s basically a way to embrace all things cozy, warm, and restorative. If you are curious how to pronounce hygge correctly, check out this video: Danes cr
