Week 6 [02.04 - 08.04] - Love - how does it work?

Love – how does it work? Have you ever thought what is love? I am sure that the answer sounds yes. Well known German musician Haddaway sang the song which all we know -“What is love”.  People have wondered about love since ancients times . All of us know the feeling of being fall in love with proverbial butterflies in stomach, long looks in eyes or characteristic and magical prick in heart. What is the researchers opinion about love who head for knowledge and rational thinking? Love is does not exist! Everything what we feel is a chemical and biological processes. Against general belief that love initiate from touch incentives we should know that firstly we are responsive for flavor of the other person. Our natural smell of body consist of inodorous pheromons. Pheromons are the chemical factors that triggers a social response in members of the same species. Knowledge  i nsufficiently  answer for all questions about influence pheromons on our organism however we know we can attra

Week 6 [02.04 - 08.04] - The weirdest dishes and beverages

The weirdest dishes and beverages Currently we are witnessing a much bigger interest in healthy lifestyle and food culture. We take care about every detail of preparing our dishes and drinks. Sometimes we would like to try something new but often we are not courageous enough or have no money to taste it all. Have you ever thought what the weirdest dishes and beverages in the world are? I would like to present some of them. 1)      Escamoles [source] Small balls in the picture above which look like beans or   rice are escamoles. Despite its usual name, we should know that this is edible larvae and eggs of ants.   They are from a Mexican plant of blue agave and agave Americana. In this country and many surrounding areas dishes made from escamoles are very popular and have been consumed since the Aztec age. Escamoles is added to many dishes like tortilla stuffing. It is also served with tacos and guacamole, therefore, it is hard to avoid this specialt

Week 6 [02.04 - 08.04] - E mobility

Do you know what is now trendy in automotive industry? E mobility. What does it mean? Electric vehicles. I don't know if it is still a matter of oil price or it is just a lifestyle. What are the benefits of e-mobility? First of all -CO2 emission. Probably you heard already about  problems with smog in some big city centers. In some countries you are not allowed to go to central  points of cities with diesel cars. The level of pollution is so high, that i.e. in Cracow wooden ovens in  restaurants are prohibited.   So the problem exists and it’ s one way how to solve it. (source:  xoio.de ) The second aspect of e mobility is the reduction of commuting cost. Besides high purchase price of e  vehicles (for the time being)  usage cost is quite low. To charge electric car for 100 km costs about  1,5EUR, which can be compared to 10 EUR per 100km for a fuel car. The second advantage is very low maintenance cost. There is no gear or traditional engine. So no oil, filters and  ot

Week 6 [02.04 - 08.04] - In Defence of Adaptation

Adaptations are sneaky. They creep up on us and we don’t even notice. That’s because the definition we’ve always believed in is wrong. ‘Adaptation’ is not merely text made into a film; it is any non-cinematic narrative translated to cinematic language. By this definition, Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean are suddenly not so original. The former is an adaptation of a series of toys into a comicbook, a cartoon and later into films. [1] The blockbuster starring Johnny Depp is based on a water-based ride in Disneyland, created in 1967. [2] ( Source ) Film adaptations are often criticised because they don’t follow the source text word-by-word or they make changes that seem strange. Yet the examples I mention were box office hits; many people thought they were good and enjoyable despite the fact that they are, in fact, adaptations. It’s true that many people probably didn’t know that, but maybe it’s time we paid more attention to the media we consume? There is a sci

Week 6 [02.04 - 08.04] - Fanfiction 101

It was the night before Christmas, And everyone was sleeping, Except, of course, the daughter, Who was reading gay fan fiction. [1] A 300k WIP MCU OT3 A/B/O MPREG HS AU on Ao3 may sound like complete gibberish to most people but let me assure you that it makes perfect sense to a weathered fanfiction reader.   [2] However, this often disrespected and taboo part of the “fan experience” is becoming more and more popular nowadays. With the multitude of films/books/shows popping up every other week, there’s something out there for everyone. Yet being in a fandom no longer means passive entertainment; simply reading/watching is not enough. The post-modern and participatory culture blurs the line between author and reader, producer and spectator, creating what’s called a “produser”. [3] Therefore, to be part of a fandom, one feels the need to “give back”, by producing transformative works or at least participating in forums or fan conventions. So, what exactly is fanfiction
