Week 8: Our right to privacy

I don’t suppose that there is anyone In the developed world that hasn't heard about Snowden. In May 2013 Edward Snowden abandoned his work in NSA, traveled to China and told journalists of The Guardian the story about his work for NSA.    http://www.maximumpc.com/files/u46173/snowden.jpg     The story about the Prism system shocked the world. It turned out that the US government listens to almost every phone call and reads every email send across the world wide web.  http://latuffcartoons.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/obama-prism.gif?w=590   Government officials defended themselves telling in every TV station in USA that it is the only way of defending their society against terrorists, that they have to know what they are planning in order to prevent another 11 th of September from ever happening again. The confession of Edward Snowden caused extreme emotion. He was momentarily called a hero by one side - especially by the Anonymous group   h

Week 8: Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

I don’t think that there is anyone in the civilized word that don’t know these words.   That’s how in 1977 began the biggest since-fiction story of all times.    George Lucas started his story untypically from episode 4 “ A New Hope ” . http://www.traileraddict.com/content/20th-century-fox/star_wars-6.jpg The next was “ The Empire Strikes Back”   In 1980. https://df1pcbhp0ir50.cloudfront.net/items/1029b_nla.jpg The last part -   episode 6 „Return of The Jedi ” had its premiere in 1983. http://static.businessinsider.com/image/51f2ce8feab8eaae6a000008/image.jpg George Lucas came back with episode 1 “ The Phantom Menace ” in 1999. The first new episode was a great disappointment, criticized by fans of the old episodes. Nevertheless the film was a financial success. http://www.impawards.com/1999/posters/star_wars_episode_one_the_phantom_menace_ver2.jpg The next was “ Attack of the Clones”   in 2002. http://www.theforce.net/collecting/

Week 8: A good man with a gun

The title of this presentation is a part of the National Rifle Association motto, a powerful American society founded in 1871 with over 5 million members.   The members of this association strongly believe that “ only thing that can stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun”. http://thebestgamesiteever.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/NRA-logo-404x400.jpg The American right to have a gun in every home is guaranteed by the second amendment to the American Constitution that was issued in 1791 - “ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (original text). That was ages ago, when the world was a very different place than nowadays. Back in 18 th century there was nothing like public order that was guaranteed by the government, and it was understandable that everyone had to protect himself and his family on his own. Back then the right to carry a gun was a natur
