Week 4 (26.10 - 01.11) (Too) late motherhood

Many years ago women gave birth to children when they were  about 18-23 years old. Then it was normal. Women didn’t work on a regular basis, didn’t educate so their main objective was to  take care of home, give birth and raise children.      Then a few woman changed the world  and now everything looks different.      The majority of us can educate, develop and engage in professional development. When we are 18- we take A-level exams. When we are 23  we are in the process of studying at a university. When we are 24-25 we start our first serious  job. Over the years we work hard, we gain new experiences. When we are 30 years old we start to  think about starting a family but we don’t think about children. Oh no- it is too early- we think. We must take care of our career. And when we are  between 35 and 40 we decide to have a child. It is (too)late motherhood. What do you think about it?       Everything is fine if our child is born healthy and strong. Bu

Week 4 (26.10 - 01.11) Passion, travel, business and family. It is possible to have all?

Some time ago I heard a programme about a  couple of voyagers. They were talking about a voyage with their little son. It was very inspiring  and fascinating to hear about their love for travel. Both of them had stable jobs and both of them abandoned them for insecure and expensive but full of passion  travels. It turns out that they haven’t resigned from  their careers. Both of them reconciled their passion with their work. Łukasz is a co-owner of Bubbleology.       What is Bubble tea and where it comes from? Bubble tea is fresh flavored milk and fruit tea. It may be served hot or cold. Bubble tea consists of tapioki beads, which we can suck with a thick straw. It also includes green, black, red or white tea. It was created at the beginning the 80s in Taiwan.      How is it possible that the owner is always somewhere, far from his business and the  business is doing great? I admire this man and his partner. Probably if Łukasz-the voyager and th

Week 4 (26.10 - 01.11) Weird phobias

Spiders, snakes, darkness, heights… we all have something that makes us shiver. However, there are phobias not as common as claustrophobia or arachnophobia, with names so tongue-twisting it takes a good moment to pronounce them! Here are the ones I found the weirdest: Triskaidekaphobia: fear of the number 13 We’ve all heard some superstitions about the number 13 (for example, Friday 13 being an unlucky day). However, there are some people who truly fear that number - they take great care to avoid using or doing anything related to it. Talking about triskaidekaphobia, there is a related phobia widely spread across Eastern countries: tetraphobia, fear of the number 4. In Chinese, the word for four sounds quite similar to the word for death. This superstition is so common that sometimes buildings are missing the fourth floor… Xanthophobia: fear of the colour yellow The sun, daffodils, rubber ducks or Van Gogh’s paintings… all yellow things scare sufferers of xanthophobi

Week 4 (26.10 - 01.11) Steampunk

Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction, which origins can be traced in the nineteenth century scientific romances, gothic horrors and pulp fiction books. In the 1990s it was called ‘VSF’, or Victorian Science Fiction, and I think it’s what describes this genre really well; steampunk can be defined as ‘Victorian with a twist’. Steampunk mixes the ideas from the nineteenth century – called ‘the age of steam’ – and adds modern, futuristic elements to it (that’s where punk in the word steampunk comes from). In steampunk books, you can find inventions like a Victorian lift to the moon, steam-powered cyborgs or an engine with artificial intelligence. Steampunk as a genre started in literature; however, nowadays it can be found everywhere – in comic books, movies, video games, fashion, and even music. These two screens come from the movies Wild Wild West from 1999 and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen from 2003. In both of them, we can find steam-powered machines, mad en
