Week 3: The North America Trip: Part 3 - Canada, British Columbia

My experiences with North America wouldn’t be complete without a very unique place that I believe is extremely underrated. From my perspective, the province of Canada housing the most beautiful city in North America - Vancouver.  When most people think of North America, they imagine the USA. When people think of Canada, they imagine cold weather, polar bears, igloos, famous Canadian mammals and ice hockey. In reality, however, a trip through Canada in one of the most enriching experiences you might take and one of the best opportunities to get very close with thousands of kilometers of pure nature.  The definition of perfect natural landscapes for me is British Columbia. The province’s capital city - Vancouver is a very eco-friendly city with plenty of nature, a place where you can go skiing and scuba diving in the ocean on the same day. From downtown Vancouver you can get to high mountains within 30 minutes, waterfront in 5 minutes on foot and pristine natural forests

Week 3: The North America Trip: Part 2 - California

The State of Hollywood movies, West coast hip-hop, big technology companies, imported palm trees, dry lands, beaches, sun, topic of many songs and source of “shallow” pop culture that took over the world. A state of many extremes with extremely varied people living in it. With its unofficial capital - Los Angeles, unofficially most livable big city - San Francisco, and lots of immigrants from Mexico in San Diego, but that is factually true for most of California in general. Having an opportunity to stay in Los Angeles after staying for a longer while in Hawaii I had high expectations, but also expected to experience pretty much similar things. I was surprised to find out that those places are entirely different. They surely share some common traits, such as close proximity to the ocean, beaches and they are both sunny and are known for being the perfect place for people looking for some rest from the rest of the world. At the same time, the experience of going to Calif

Week 3: The North America Trip: Part 1 - Hawaii

This week I would like to talk about something that many people have already done, or plan to do in the future. I mean travelling to the United States of America. I would like to mention that from my own perspective presenting my own experiences, which for many people will be different than theirs. I think that for most people taking a trip to The United States of America in most cases means going to see one of the major cities in the Mainland - whether it’s New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Miami (or Chicago or Boston for many Polish people), I believe a truly unique and nice way to first experience that country is by going to Hawaii. When initially planning my trip I wasn’t sure why more people don’t do that, and as it sounded like a perfect idea to me. I am very glad I had an opportunity to stay there for a longer while and would like to share some of my experiences. For many people Hawaii is a natural paradise, with palm trees, empty beaches with whi

Week 3: Non verbal communication skills

Conversation is one of the most important ways to get to know the other person. Even having more communication tools cannot  replace face to face contact. There is no way to tranfer emotions by text or phone call and sometimes it causes misunderstandings . The body language is extremely important here. Everyone who depends on a good image, who wants to understand other people or achieve their goals more easily should read this article. Scientists came to the conclusion that what we say is not as important as how we say it, which is indicated by our body. Especially in emotional, hard conversation words just can't express everything, such as messages sent by our eyes, face, hands, body movements, gestures and voice. Here are the most important things about non verbal communication. 1. Eye contact An eye can threaten like a loaded gun; or can insult like a hissing and kicking; or in its altered mood, by beams of kindness, make the heart dance with joy. Ralph Waldo Eme

Week 3: Social life on the Internet

We are living in times when computers, mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices are something normal. While walking the street we see people eating, talking, partying, working etc. with their phone or laptop in hands and no one is surprised. Those devices were made to ease people’s lives, do they? They were designed to help us find people that we lost contact with or to stay in touch with current friends and of course, at the beginning it worked out. A few years have passed and a lot of people can't imagine a day, or sometimes an hour without it. They share photos, personal thoughts to be discussed by everyone, chat with friends instead of meeting them. How can we enjoy our lives if we are not looking around? Instead of making our lives interesting, trying new things we just watch movies, short movies, vines , series- other people’s  lives which were just designed by a director. After the success of Facebook there appeared a lot of other sites- Instagram, Twitter

Week 3: People’s dreams versus people’s possibilities

People’s dreams versus people’s possibilities Everyone dreams about something- beautiful places to live in, satisfying, not a  lowpaid job, love, a family, but usually it requires bravery to make it fulfilled and here comes a problem. Sometimes we are too afraid of changes even though we spend sleepless nights thinking about it. People  spend all their  lives dreaming, not making anything to make their dreams come true. Why don't we just try  and then say ‘i did it, i am a happy person’. As it is said "be careful what you wish, because you just might get it", sometimes what we imagined is not the same in reality. We are dreaming about something and when it comes true we find out that we are not fulfilled, because we have been idealizing that. My grandmother always said to herself looking into the mirror: I am beautiful, young and rich- what influenced her behavior and made her reach her goals.  I think that self confidence is the most important thing about making
