Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The Universe will die

We are, no doubt, living in a thing, that is so-called the Universe. While everybody goes about their everyday life, business, and matters, we rarely ever think about our home in time and space. Is it limitless? Or is there a certain border? Can we comprehend our Universe at all? Scientists have been studying it for a long time, and the only thing they agree on is that -- Universe will die. In this video, three most plausible theories of how this can be, are presented. Enjoy! How do you think: 1. What is the most plausible theory of all three? 2. Did you ever question yourself about the Universe, you live in? 3. Is the destiny of the Universe worth concerning at all?

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] Game engines: a new challenger appears!

Game development is one of the largest branches of software engineering, and the only one that has a need in people from other fields, like artists and composers. Each year more and more young developers are starting making their own indie games, alone, or with a couple of friends, to later become a part of the industry. That is when they meet their first obstacle -- choosing the game engine. Game engine is a pre-made software development environment, that in most cases has already built-in logic for rendering of 2D and 3D graphics, a physics engine or collision detection (and collision response), sound, scripting, animation, artificial intelligence, networking, streaming, memory management, threading, localization support, scene graph, and may include video support for cinematics. Developing all that from scratch is such a horrendous task that it would practically render indie development impossible. Luckily, there are many various options available on the market. Some giants of

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The tenth dimension

As you all know, we live in a three-dimensional world, but have you ever imagined what the fifth or even tenth dimension looks like? Maybe this video will help you answer that question. So my questions are: Are you interested in such issues? Did you like physics in school :D? Does this representation of the 10 dimensions satisfy your curiosity?

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] A man's perspective on our world

Around fifty years ago, expectations of women and men were determined by a set of behaviors and skills. A man had to be able to earn money, take care of his family's safety, be gallant and generally be resourceful. The woman had to take care of the house, raise children, support her husband, etc.  Nowadays, from a man's perspective, nothing has changed, further, we have to earn a lot of money, we have to be neat and resourceful. In our lives, there is no room for tears, worse days, sensitivity. Consequently, the world of men is limited to words: “You must" and "you cannot". After all, if you show weakness, you will be accused of not being masculine, and yet no one wants to get involved with such a person. However, there have been many significant changes in the world of women. A woman may or may not. She can work 100 hours a week, but she may not work at all, she can raise a child at home or she does not have to, she can be tough, but she can be sensiti

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] Gaming disorder officially marked as ‘disease’ by WHO

The problem of children addicted to playing video games is a topic that is around for years. When I was a little, I have heard about it a ton from my parents. And that was a time, where I have a console and I could play only for an hour or maybe 2. Now, children are spending their whole day in front of a computer. And smartphones are not helping out here. For years there was a problem where to put a border. How much is too much? Or what it takes to consider something like gaming disorder? We do not know the answer. Until a few days ago. WHO (World Health Organization), on 25th May 2019, marked officially gaming disorder as a disease. Here is a video describing what is gaming disorder and what are the symptoms of it. Sources: http://time.com/5597258/gaming-disorder-icd-11-who/ https://www.who.int/features/qa/gaming-disorder/en/ Questions: 1. Do you consider yourself as a gamer? If yes, what are you playing? It is a computer game or a handheld one? 2. How much time do

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] Marie Kondo and KonMari method of cleaning up your space

Have you ever had a mess of a size that you did not know where to start? Or maybe you have just cleaned up your apartment, and the very next day everything was swallowed by chaos? I do not know what you say to this, but for me, it was every day. I am a student, who happens to be working, so my time is very limited and the result of this was inevitable a mess. Big mess. It was like this until I have heard about Marie Kondo and her method of tidying up, called KonMari. Marie suggested an approach, where you categorize things and then sort one category at a time. Throughout this method, you should end up with clean space. In the beginning, you should start tidying up with categories and not rooms (As I once was doing). First, you sort out the clothes. You have to fold them in a special way, that they stand on themselves up. That helps you find your clothes later when they are in a drawer or closet. Then books and papers like bills or important letters. After that, you should get to

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] Fear of failure

Jia Jiang talks about his problems. He tells us about the psychological trauma he received as a child. When he was already an adult, that little boy reminded him of himself. Every time Jia Jiang tried to achieve success, this fear reminded of himself, and interfered with it. Jia Jiang talks about ways to overcome fear of rejection. I will be honest and frank. In fact, I have the same problem as this person. Every time I want to do something brilliant, I stop, I never ask people for help. Having a motto: If you want it to be good, do it yourself. I do not ask people. If I know that this is possible, and it rightfully belongs to me, then I will take it. But if me need to ask someone to give me it, I will not ask about it and I leave. Afraid that they will give me the answer "NOT!". Therefore, I have a few questions for you: Do you think, this method is effective? Do you have a similar problem? How do you accept rejection? Maybe you heard about other methods?

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] Car Survival Race

Dear friends, I would like to tell you about myself and my hometown.   I was born and lived for many years of my life in a beautiful town called Alexandria. This town is in the Kirovograd region, Ukraine. My hometown is small, it has only one hundred thousand people. The town has very little entertainment, there is nothing to do. Such a problem arose because its inhabitant is poor. People have no money to spend it. Growing up there was a problem for me as I did not know what to do in my free time. Fortunately, in my town there were many sport clubs. Wrestling, karate, boxing, athletics, cycling etc. But all those sports were not interesting for me.   I was more interested in cars. It turned out that in Alexandria there is another sport. A little searching and, I found a rally, a car survival race and karting.
