Week 3 [20-26 October]:THE HUMAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The future of human artificial intelligence The field of artificial intelligence is commonly known to be technologically related and can logically be very complex. "Scientists are trying to give objects human-like behavior " "David Hanson's robot faces look and act like yours: They recognize and respond to emotion, and make expressions of their own. Here, an "emotional" live demo of the Einstein robot offers a peek at a future where robots truly mimic humans." He is the main artist and creator of the human robot faces, which, according to David, are the seeds of hope for our future. The robots are learning by seeing human behavior and translating that into their own mood and showing it by facial expressions. Hanson’s using very complex materials to design faces for robots. “We’ve made 12 robots in the last 8 years” – says David.  They are ready for mass manufacturing.      The face is very complex. It is “simulating

Week 3 [20-26 October]:HOW TO LIVE PASSIONATELY – NO MATTER YOUR AGE

PASSION IS A VERY STRONG FEELING ABOUT A PERSON OR A THING Isabel Allende is 71, although she has a very young spirit. In her passionate speech she explains her attitude towards life.   “ISABEL ALLENDE: HOW TO LIVE PASSIONATELY – NO MATTER YOUR AGE”   “Yes, she has a few wrinkles - but she has incredible perspective too. In this candid talk, meant for viewers of all ages, she talks about her fears as she gets older and shares how she plans to keep on living passionately.” She starts her speech about aging. People start aging right after the birth. As she started to get older, she also started noticing more about her body. After years, her appearance changed dramatically, and sadly, it reminds her about her age and condition. She began to lose independence, and that scares her:   “But if you accept it, it’s less suffering” – Facing this dramatic reality, she says she accepts her situation. Along with acceptation comes gratefulness. She is no longer stuck with who

Week 3 [20-26 October]:Finding inspiration

Finding inspiration Finding inspiration can be an exhaustive and fickle thing. Where should we look for inspiration ? There is a wealth of places in this world where we could be able to find inspiration from things like fashion, architecture or even interior design. Try to imagine the moment you open your favorite magazine, website or blog of your favorite blogger. There might be a lot of chances that you are about to find something inspiring during looking at it. In our real world there is a number of buildings or architectural gems not too far from the place you live at. Go through your favorite city and look up at the buildings that surround you on a daily basis and take in their forms or shapes. Most designers when lacking ideas, take a stroll through the city to find ideas. Someone could say that they are copying things but saying that would be at least wrong. It is not about copying ideas from someone else but it’s all about taking inspiration. Obviously someone could say the

Week 3 [20-26 October]: How does school kill creativity ?

How does school kill creativity ? Sir Ken Robinson claims that the school kills creativity.  Most of us would instantly oppose such an opinion in the first place. Kids nowadays have tremendous and colossal talents which schools squander pretty savagely. Creativity is now as important in school education as in other fields and we should treat it seriously. Sir Robinson thinks that children are more creative because of their attitude toward a trial or an error. Adults are scared of making errors more often than kids. There is a good story about children's boundless imagination. One girl was asked about her drawing. She answered that she was drawing a picture of God. Her teacher replied that no one knows God. The girl said: ‘the world is about to see what he looks like’. This short story shows that children have boundless creativity. Young kids are not scared of being embarrassed because of their mistakes. This is called creativity. In my opinion we cannot teach kid to be creati

Week 3 [20-26 October]: Free2play or free2pay?

With the development of the mobile games scene, it has become very common to create games which you can download and play for free, technically without limitations. However, after playing the game for some time you discover that by paying a small sum you can get some advantage over other players or just make your experience more enjoyable. Think of a simple example: say that you play a game, where you build a town. You decide to build a school and you discover that building that school will take one hour. Not only that, but while building the school you cannot take any other action in the game. So basically you should start the construction, close the game and come back after an hour. But, if you pay the small sum mentioned earlier, let's say 1 euro, the school will be built immediately. However next time you want to build a hospital and that will take 24 hours or, again, 1 euro. And so on, and so on. Obviously when you read an example like this, the game doesn’t seem appealin

Week 3 [20-26 October]: Internet Haters

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, however it comes with a price, namely that everybody is allowed it and others must accept this fact. Some people might not be as eloquent or brilliant when expressing their opinion, but it is something that is obvious and tolerated by us. Unfortunately when it comes to the internet the problem of so called haters seems to be much bigger than it would in real life. I'm sure that everybody reading this publication is familiar with the term. According to wikipedia : „ Hater is a derogatory term which refers to a person who expresses hatred in public forums, especially those found on the World Wide Web such as YouTube” People who can be described with the word „hater” unfortunately pollute the internet with garbage and filth of vulgarities, making it a much worse experience than it could be. These people did not pop up yesterday, but of course are a serious problem, that most people accept as insolvable, or simply choose to ign
