Week 11 [09.01-15.01]                                      Coffee is Love    Espresso - this 40 ml portion of a saturated beverage with a light-brown foam is so common that it seems to be the dominant form of existence of coffee. You could find it in the menu of most restaurants, coffee shops and in a chain of street machines. Some fans are preparing coffee with home equipment.     Espresso became popular outside Italy just after World War II, however, the first espresso machine of a modern type came to life a little over a century ago. In 1901, the Milanese engineer Luigi Bezzera has patented the "advanced device for making and immediate delivery of coffee drinks." The method and the coffee itself got the name because of the principle of operation of the Bezzera's device. Water with steam percolates under the pressure through milled and compacted grains, extr...

Week 11 [09.01-15.01] Lightsaber from Star Wars – is it possible to create Lightsaber ??

Lightsaber from Star Wars – is it possible to create Lightsaber ?? Every fan of Star Wars knows Jedi use an “elegant” weapon called Lightsaber. It’s a light sword which can cut most things. To use Lightsaber, a person need to pass special training and find special crystal to power his/her Lightsaber. Only few people from the Galaxy can use that weapon because only a person with force can pass this training. Now let’s think “is it possible to create Lightsaber ??”. Blade First of all let’s think how to create a blade. We need to find some material which can cut most things and adjust its  size to Lightsaber. Laser is good but it has  one disadvantage. We can’t adjust it because the laser can only stop on a thing which it can’t cut. For example, if you use that weapon in a flat, you may create a hole in the floor. So that kind of material is unacceptable. The second material which we can use is plasma. Plasma is  better than laser because it’s very hot, we ...

Week 11 [09.01-15.01] EmDrive – new “impossible” spaceship engine

EmDrive – new “impossible” spaceship engine Recently some scientific magazines have published information about a new spaceship engine called “EmDrive”. This is an electric engine which could reach Mars in less than 70 days. It is almost unbelievable having in mind that today every ship needs over 300 days to reach it. But, as always with new technologies and inventions there is one fundamental problem. According to the rules of physics such an engine should not work at all. There were a lot of examples in the history when something only worked theoretically.  Right now, we have a completely different situation, there is a solution which can’t be proved by scientists. What is exactly EmDrive and how does it work? This machine was created by Roger Shawyer but just after it was announced many scientists accused him of fraud. It was mainly due to the fact that such a machine needs to break the first basic rule of physics - it would have to break the momentum conservation prin...

Week 11 [09.01-15.01] What if it was for cardio that makes you fat?!

http://static.news.zumst.com/images/85/2016/08/23/88e0f1d72f93482cbc8f6191ee7fcbd2.jpg There are two reasons why most of us practice sports. - to get and keep attractive body - to get healthy and prevent illnesses When you ask most people what they do to get it they usually say: "You know... running, cycling, swimming" so... CARDIO People usually think that exercise should focus on burning calories and that endurance training is the best way to be fit and healthy. And in reality cardio reduces biology index. People who base their training on running, swimming or cycling usually lose muscles and strenght. What is more they reduce resting metabolic rate. Long cardio = higher cortisol level In research in 2011 scientists analized cortisol level in 304 ammateur endurance sportsmen. Result: averege extra production was 42%. Cortisol has long list of negative health consequences. Extra cortisol causes extra fat and loss of muscles. Higher testosteron to cort...

Week 11 [09.01-15.01] What is vitamin B17?

http://images.naturalcollection.com/images/resize900/305926-Creative-Nature-Himalayan-Apricot-Kernels-150g-3.jpg Vitamin B17 , amygdalyn and leatrile - are 3 names for the same natural substance. Scientists found it in seeds of apricots. After that they found it in over 1200 types of plants. Ancient Egyptians described it in papyrus which was 5000 years old and they wrote about its healing effects. 4500 years ago Chinese described similar effects of using bitter almonds. First information about healing effects of B17 appeared 60 years ago. The person who promoted B17 was Ernst Krebs. Since then scientists have shown its effect in more than 20 countries. In many people who have cancer and ate raw apricot seeds and vitamin B17 in pills cancer disappeared. But people who aren't ill can have problems because their body is damaged after chemotherapy and tumor. If patient's body is completely "eaten" by cancer, seeds of apricots can make your life longer comp...

Week 11 [9.01-15.01] Is mind reading the future?

EEG waves shows the frequency which reflects the state of human mind and they may become in the future a common way to communicate with every device and everything among. This will will be allowed thanks to bands such as Melon, Neeuro or Emotiv.  https://youtu.be/bposG6XHXvU These devices are already on the market, they are not cheap and not yet operating as thoroughly as they should, but in most cases they work satisfactorily. The appropriate frequency of EEG waves reflect what happens in the human head and beyond. What he or she sees, hears and in general what is the situation in which someone is located, and of course it is possible to play game too! For example, with the special application for mobile devices, you can use these headbands to play a simple game, "thinking" about what should ball do and where should go. We can see it all up to date on the screen of our computer or smartphone. It works not only through the mind, but also by analyzing the react...

Week 11 [09.01-15.11] Big things have always small beginnings.

I think everything that was created by man over the last thousands of years had its first small step. Some of the stories of the formation of various projects are interesting and some not really. In my opinion, such an interesting story is the story of Netflix. This powerful giant who introduced watching movies and TV series on-demand, legally on the internet and even producing them started very small in mid 90s, renting movies on videos and DVDs through the website and delivering them directly to the customer by mail. Customers paid a monthly fee and might rent as many movies as they want. Subscribers could keep them as long as they wanted, but then receiving only one film at a time. This model has proven to be successful and the company became very profitable in 2003. DVDs wich were sent home in the characteristic red envelopes become the part of US culture. But there was Blockbuster, the biggest competitor. Netflix proposed them a purchase of 49% of th...

All streets of big cities have advertisements, big and small, bright and dim, with lights or only a big paper. We pay a lot attention to some advertisements and pass by others . If we start thinki ng about the advertise men t, it means a product will suc ceed . Canon is one of the most popular brands in photo cameras. Advertisements of this brand are in the top ratings of all advertisements in the world. They make us stop, think , and  analyze. “Canon Cyber Shot.” Canon. Digital Image. Google Images . Web. This picture has a very interesting story. This leopard was running; furthermore, we know that leopards run at railway speed. It is very difficult to take a picture of leopard, but still this picture is very sharp, even though this leopard was running very fast. The ability to stop a moment is the main point of Canon’s advertisement. They chose an i...

https://www.wikiart.org/en/salvador-dali Salvador Dali is one of the most famous painters in the world. His paintings are unusual; they are different from other paintings. He did not paint the normal world i n his pictures. He drew his dreams, his hallucinations, and his fantasies. Some people think that Salvador Dali was a genius while others think that he was demented, but everyone has heard about him and has seen at least one of his paintings. Salvador was good in several types of art. He was not only a painter but also a sculptor and a designer. He made films and cartoons. By the way, he was the person who invented the modern packaging of Chupa-Chups. People wrote books about him to show to the world this genius person. I love painting s of Salvador Dali. One of his most important paintings is “The Persistence of Memory.” It features images of clocks draped over tree branches as though they were pizza dough. This symbolized Dali's perception of time...

It’s 2017. Some TV shows have bigger budgets than average movies, attract bigger audiences than movies, and aren’t even viewed on TV! Everyone watches them , has a favourite show or even a couple of them. Of course, film industry is aware of that and that is why we see such an expansion of TV series market and platforms that let us enjoy them. TV shows mania is here to stay. It’s more convenient to watch an episode (or five) at home on almost every device with the internet connection than go to the movie theater. What’s more, audience stay with characters for longer due to fact that seasons last longer than a film and often are released over the years. I’ve decided to share with you with some of the shows I finished or started to watch recently. It’s obvious that one can easily get lost in the number of propositions of networks today.
