Week 6: 9 life lessons by Tim Minchin

There is a lot of people that feel lost, have no idea what they should be doing with their life or just happend not to know on what should they focus. The question "Am i doing alright? Am doing everything fast enough? I the way I have chosen is the right one?". The video is just a speech from a musician/comedian but i guess it's really worth listening to. First 12 minutes are enough, there is no need to watch full video Questions : What do you think of Tim’s speech? Do you have any rules you follow all the time? If you were to change something in in the speech of Tim, what would it be?

Week 6: Is being a good driver that hard?

source : https://pixabay.com/photos/key-car-key-hand-man-boy-guy-791390/ Everyone probably knows that the Po lish driving test is pretty hard compared to other countries. A lot of things to learn and what is more the way the driving instructors teach us. Each of them has their own rules they try to put into our heads. And if you are taking practical part in Warsaw – woah. Literally everyone is capable of honking all the time and trying to cut you off as you MUST take all the rules into consideration.  source :  https://pixabay.com/photos/dog-happy-car-head-car-window-1149964/ But okey. You finally did it, you have your driving license and a car you can drive all night long with your pet or girlfriend and you can do it as long as the gas I still in its pumps. And now the question rises – Are you really ready to take the steering wheel and move in your silver arrow through the world? Did these 30 hours of practice were enough to learn everything you need to know? In my opinion it is e

Week 6 [30.11 - 6.12] Why do cats purr?

https://tgstat.ru/channel/@cats_mems It is hard to admit but studies have shown that dogs are much more popular than cats. It seems that the reason for that is how these pets communicate. It is easier to define the state of the dog than the cat. Dogs and cats are often compared to each other as extraverts and introverts. Dogs don’t tend to “bury” their emotions and moods while cats just…. stare at you in a very mysterious way. Many cat owners sometimes complain about how strangely their pets suddenly fixate on something. It resembles seeing a ghost or some other supernatural creatures. https://4fun.one/gag/6403/?pid=6403 Purring is considered a sign of cats’ delight and happiness. Moreover, it is the most common sound cats express but not the only one. Their “palette” of sounds also includes meowing, chirping, chattering, hissing, and growling. There is truly a wide range of emotions cats can express purring and they are not always positive. Researches have shown that cat owners are

Week 6 [30.11 - 6.12] Signs from the Universe

A Finnish Concert Flutist, Ulla Suokko, tells a story about exploring signs from the Universe thr ough all her life. She learned how to see these signs, interpret, and implement them into reality. It seems that the Universe has always shown Ulla which direction she should move and which decisions to take. Questions: 1.      Do you believe in signs from the Universe? 2.      Do you consider yourself a master of your destiny? 3.      If you were given an opportunity to ask anything about your future (and the answer would be true), what would you ask? 4.      Do you tend to live for the moment?

Week 6 [30.11-06.12.20] What is Karōshi? The mystical truth about the death from overwork in Japan.

Japan    Japan has intrigued me since the first time I have read about this country. Not only, because of the huge contrast between the European countries, but because of the uniqueness of Japanese culture. In Japan 98,5 % of the population are the Japanese in contrast to United Kingdom where only 82,4% of the population is from European countries. When you think about Japan, you may think about Tokyo as one of the biggest and safest cities in the world, you may think about manga that you watch, or sushi that you love to eat every week or even the famous brands created in Japan like: Toyota, Nissan, Sony, Honda, Uniqlo, Panasonic and many, many others.  However, what you probably missed is how the country that is only 8% bigger than Poland has one of the best economies in the world. I might guess it has taken a lot of hard work…   The Growth   In order to talk about Karōshi, I believe it is vitally important to mention how it all has begun. In the last months of the World War I

Week 6 [30.11 - 6.12] - How does natural selection work?

Natural selection is the basic mechanism of population evolution. When the environment changes,  individuals with more adaptable characteristics have more chances to survive and pass their genetic code via breeding. Often the natural selection is seen as something that introduces only better features and improves the life quality of the population, but it’s just an illusion.  Natural selection just provides changes, but not always in a good direction. In this video, the author explains how natural selection works via simple mathematical simulation. He puts some creatures into the virtual space with a certain amount of food to create a population and he explains that natural selection is not for the good of species. Questions: 1. Can you get some examples of natural selection in the human world?  2. What do you think: supporting, for example, people with disabilities and mental disorders is a disturbance of natural selection or the way to do our world better?  3. As you know, many Europ

Even the smallest scratches on his body don’t heal and bleed all the time. Doctors can’t help, every scratch and slip can cause the death of your child.  This is a story of the Russian Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, the wife of Nicolas II - the last ruler of the Russian Empire. Her son named Alexei had a rare and dangerous genetic disease called haemophilia. Generally, the blood of a person with haemophilia can’t clot, which is needed to stop bleeding. How could this happen?  The Empress, her husband and daughters were totally healthy.  Alexandra Feodorovna with husband Nic

As the game of basketball is not the most popular sport in Europe and some of you are probably not interested in playing or watching basketball. You have definitely heard about the legendary Michael Jordan that revolutionized the way we look at the sport with his extraordinary style of play, image and the most famous sneakers in the world. So, who is better Michael Jordan or Lebron James?   In your opinion, who is the greatest basketball player of all time and why? What should be the main criteria while comparing players that have never played against one another?  Do you think being a runner-up in the NBA finals, should be treated as a huge accomplishment or a little failure?

Week 6 [30.11 - 6.12] Scentless perfume

The fragrance industry has recently experienced a rising trend of chemistry-centric perfumes. In the fragrance context, the word "molecule" first appeared due to Geza Schön and his brand, Escentric Molecules, which in 2006 has launched an entirely new concept in perfumery - the first ever molecule fragrance collection. Geza Sch ö n - Escentric Molecures creator , source What are molecules? Let’s start with atoms. - Atoms are the smallest pieces of matter. They are the building blocks of everything surrounding us, including ourselves. Several atoms connected to each other into a single structure are called a molecule .  Molecules are not the only form of matter organization -  different substances are composed differently. For example, the atoms in salt do not have covalent bonds between them, thus they are not having any molecules. The molecular fragrances term stands for abstract fragrance compositions of a primarily synthetic nature, that are not trying to emulate any we
