Week 5: Halloween

As ever year, when 1st of November is coming, the discussion about Holloween starts. Since Halloween has came to Poland it rose criticism among traditionalists. The most critical is Christian Church. In it's opinion ghosts, vampires, witches and pumpkin lanterns are offensive to reflective nature of the Saints day. As it's pagan originated festival according to the Church participation in Halloween is a sin. At the same time Halloween is a national holiday in Ireland, pompously celebrated also in England, Australia, the USA, New Zealand and Scotland. There are diffrent customs depending on country. However recently the commercialization in American style it's easy to notice. Milions of people around the world dress up as monsters, vampires and skeletons, having fun on parties or walking from door to door asking for candies. Nowadays Halloween is the perfect entertainment and on the other hand a great business. Personally I think there is nothing wrong with that festiv...

Week 5: Bali

Why you should visit Bali?   Bali is definitely one of the most popular of thousand islands of Indonesia. If so many people are attracted to Bali there has to be the reason for that. Of course so many turists in one place is also one of the biggest drawbacks. However even if you are not the type of person, who enjoys spending holiday in such touristic destinations, there are plenty of ways to experience the Indonesian culture in Bali. This small island is one of those places, where nature has given people almost anything to fully enjoy their life. Long beaches, marvelous landscapes, tropical forests, rice terraces, Hindu temples, traditional food and drinks all for reasonable prices make travelers coming back for more. A unique culture is a mixture of Hinduism and traditional local beliefs. Most tourists come to Bali for its famous beaches, but to be honest in my opinion it is not the best feature. So what is the reason why would I recommend visiting this island? 1. Divin...

Nowadays diving is getting more and more popular. Millions of people are charmed with underwater life. However this extraordinary experience might be also a scaring and hazardous activity. My question is what makes diving so attractive? For those who have never dove before, diving may seem like an intimidating experience. The thought of being submerged in deep water can definitely be stressful. Let's be honest: humans are not meant to survive underwater! The stress is common for most of first time divers, but this anxiety doesn't stay forever. With time people start to feel safe and comfortable with their dives. In fact a vast majority of those people change into diving addicts, who continuously return to discover new dive experiences, appreciating diving more and more and never get enough of it. And that is how my adventure with diving started. At first I didn't even like the idea of diving. I was faced with the choice of lying whole day on an uncomfortable, billowin...

Week 5: Funding your idea

Sometimes you sit somewhere looking out of the window and sipping your favourite coffee and then an brilliant idea comes to your head. You can't resist it, you know that it's going to work and you want to tell the whole world about it. You know this is something big and it will change lives of many people. You start thinking how successful you're going to be in next few months. Your brain has already decided - you will do it. All you need now is to rationalize the whole thing (easy part). Okay, the plan is ready, the last step you need to do is to build the team which will work on the idea to make it market ready. By this time you realised that the idea needs a team of at least 4 people plus you of course. The last thing you need to start is.. money. Where do I get the money to invest in team of 5 people for 6 months? 1. Bootstrapping. Obviously, you can take this money out of your pocket or share equity and do it together with the rest of the team. It can be risky, ...
