Intelligent People Vs Happiness

Thanks to their high intelligence, most intelligent people seem to have their lives set to run in a smooth. Though, is that because of their intelligence, these people can’t find happiness easily.
While many people would be satisfied with the life of an intelligent person and would be happy to own even a part of their interesting minds, the old saying "Ignorance Is Bliss" is what helps less intelligent people to be much happier than the most intelligent ones.

These reasons are true for highly intelligent people, but not only for them, I mean anyone can be annoyed by talking about simple things like weather, food etc. I think the additional reason is that super smart people mostly limit their self to one specialist field of knowledge and they do not have many common topics with other human beings. Nowadays I think we should call a person intelligent when he or she distinguishes himself or herself with his mental abilities in a certain field of knowledge and has general knowledge about the world which should be provided by a school.
I remember, once one of my friends, who is a psycologist, consoled: "I was once a religious person, I believed in a God, in a Soul. Now I see, clear and obvious, that everything is in neurons, and there is not even a fainest possibility for a Soul to exist. But I want it to exist so much! To be something. But this is not possible." Clear facts are merciless. Most human beings are to fragile to accept them. Thus, ignorance is natural protection from it. One, who does not put too much thought in things, may well find peace and serenity. (That one is not from the Bible.)
I think these reasons sometimes can be true, but I don’t agree fully with them. There are thousands of people who are poor, uneducated and with low IQ who suffers from mental disorders and depression. It may seems that intelligent people are more likely to be depressed but maybe they are just better diagnosed. You can very easily perform psychological tests on students or on people who live in cities, but is much more harder to examine poor people living in Somalia and they may be depressed too.

1. These reasons are true in my opinion. I can relate to all of them although I'm not sure if it only concerns intelligent people.

2. Maybe comparing yourself to other people. It never leads to happiness.

3. In my opinion intelligent people are those whose words, knowledge or opinions have value to you.
I agree with all 6 reasons with the speaker. The main reason that smart people are unhappy is to analyze and notice what others do not see (observation). All these reasons (in the video) are based on these principles. These people see the world inside and out. But I would like to note that intelligent people are an abstract concept. As a rule, "nerds" are not often being intelligent people. I respect intelligent people and always try to be one of them xD. Easy to spot them, just talk to a person for a few minutes.

I agree with those reasons. I think that highly intelligent people are mostly unhappy, because simple thing which could make person happy will make smart people to think about over and over again until they will get the answer they desire and as a result they will satisfy their hunger for knowledge, but just for that moment and in short period of time they will start feeling lack of food for thoughts which will make them feel empty and unhappy. Something similar we can feel when we finish watching really long series and don`t really know what to do with all that time which we usually spent watching it. I think you can not really identify intelligent person, because there are no clear and obvious definition to an intelligent person.

I agree mostly with all of the reasons. I have heard about this problem among intelligent people and I was wondering what is the cause. My conclusions are pretty much the same as in the video. I think that intelligent people are often over-analizing things
and think about past situations. They should draw conclusions once and try to behave better in a simmilar situation. Worrying constantly about past things definetly leads to bad mood. The over ambitious reason is the one to which I am not convinced. It is very good to be ambitious and constantly seek something greater but the key is to enjoy the little things. Being ambitious doesn't mean that you can not enjoy what you already have or achived. I think gratitude is crutial in eveeryday life as wall as on the road th success.

I think the reasons are valid. I also agree that analyzing too much brings a lot of trouble or actually doesn't bring you anything as it stops you from acting.
I can't think of any more reasons now.

I think it's generally easy to judge if someone is more or less intelligent after spending some time with them. I am not sure how character complexity is tied to intelligence and if it is or not, but most of judgements I make, come from interaction with other people.

What is your opinion about these reasons?
I think I mostly agree with reasons. I’m not sure at all about the second reason which is about high standards. It is very often like this that very intelligent people don’t have any high expectations about what they have.
Do you have any additional reason?
I think there is actually nothing to add. The video contains all I think.
What do you think about intelligent people and how to determine them?
I think listening is the best way to determine whether a person is inteligent or not. Intelligent people often have wide area of knowledge and can learn new things easily.
I think the reasons described in the video are valid but they generalize too much. The stereotype of a highly intelligent person being an outcast and a freak, as portrayed in many books and movies, is simply invalid. I know some intelligent people who don’t suffer from eternal sadness, like described in the video. For example, not all intelligent people over-analyze stuff. Many people can decide what’s worth over-analyzing and what’s not, keeping a healthy balance between philosophy and ignorance.

I agree with Imran that comparing yourself to others leads to complexes and never to happiness. I also agree with Kyrylo that inability of having faith in „beautiful concepts” can also lead to sadness.

I agree with the reasons presented in the video and they are in line with what I can observe when interacting with different people. In many cases, intelligent people I met do have some or all above-mentioned traits. I think that everyone likes to interact with intelligent people whatsoever, personally, I determine intelligent people by that they can listen carefully what someone is saying and they are really engaged in conversation.
I think that some of these reasons might be true, but I don’t believe that they apply to every intelligent person on the world. I think that it’s true that intelligent people think more and reflect about human existence more then someone who is less intelligent, but it doesn’t have to mean that they are less happy because of it. I consider my self an intelligent person and I think a lot about all kind of stuff, and I can honestly say that I’m very happy person (well maybe I’m not as intelligent as I think I am, and maybe that is why I’m so happy). I don’t think that I have any reason to add because I don’t really agree with them and I think that happiness don’t depends on intelligence. It’s hard to say how can someone determine if person is intelligent or not. I think it just come to you after spending some time with a person if he or she is intelligent or not.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
