Week 3 [20.03-26.03.2017] The Human Era

A New History for Humanity – The Human Era / Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell           As cultural mingling becomes more and more common, wrapping your head around different calendars in different cultures might become confusing.   In our Gregorian calendar it is year 2017, in the Hebrew calendar it’s 5777 in China it’s year 4714 and those are not even all calendars that are out there!  Now what if we went back in time, to the point where there were no different cultures as we understand it? Back to the point where we, as a species, became a civilization and started measuring time from that point? Not only would it make things much easier but also put our history, as an advancing species into a much clearer perspective. Right now we measure our time by splitting it into our era – Anno Domini and ancient times, but does that line ma ke any sense? Looking at our history without this artificial separation can help us see how much we have achieved in an incredibly short period

Protein is one of the most important ingredients, which we should give our bodies with food. It consists of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur. Every protein which we eat is made of aminoacid which we use to build our body. What kinds of protien are there? Complete protein with high value. They are for example protein from egg, milk, breast milk, cheese, meat, poultry and fish. Incomplete protein with low value. They are for example protein from grain, vagetables, potatoes. Leguminous plant have the most value. In our diets we should have the most food from animals. They give our body the most aminoacid and minerals which body needs to function. One slice of wheat bread makes sugar level higher like two tablespoons of sugar. Should we avoild wheat more than gluten? Of course! Wheat is in a lot of products: bread , cakes, soups and alcohol. For many years it was modified, so it is difficult to find wheat like our grandmothers used to bake bread. Nutritional value and quality of wheat has dropped. Why do we gain weight? You may think that it is because of gluten, which is main part of wheat. We all know about the phenomenon of global warming. This term sounds like a terrible fairy tale from childhood - scientists talk about climate change for many years, but in fact ... Nothing happens! I learned about the global warming in 10 years, and since then nothing has happened - no floods, tsunamis, and in general catastrophes associated with climate change. Donald Trump, for example, believes that it is too early to switch to alternative energy sources, oil is cheaper and more efficient, and rumors of global warming are just rumors. Graphic Designer’s nightmares In my free time I work as a graphic designer maybe as some of you. I would like you to present some nightmares and problems that designers have to face while working with clients. I have a lot of experience with clients and I could present many examples of irritating ideas and behaviors, but I will mention only a few.  Office assistant who “designs” in Paint or Microsoft Word. I’m not joking. It has happened to me a few times that I have received a client’s version of a project made in Paint. I understand that not everyone knows how to use Photoshop or Illustrator, but these people think that it’s the best version of a project and a designer is actually not necessary. Really? If you are an expert, why do you hire me?  Thousands of corrections This one is the most irritating. Clients very often receive a project and they don’t look at all of my work – they send me some remarks which concentrate on one detail. Then I send them the project

Driverless world I think that most of us have struggled with traffic in Warsaw. I don’t know how it works, but there are places where we can observe traffic almost all the time. We all have heard about driverless cars. There are obviously pros and cons of this idea which has been discussed many times. As always – there could be some disadvantages of this kind of solution like a huge amount of money and time necessary to make the world driverless, but in my opinion it is worth implementing.
