Week 5: Starting your own company

Starting new business surely is not for everyone, but anyway I want to recommend it to everybody. There are a couple of reasons why even failing at running your own business can make your life better. The best part about setting up a company now is that you have nothing to lose. You don't need to quit your job to start a company. You can work on a side project and when you see it's getting traction you can spend more and more time on it. You can shut it down anytime. Remember you are still young - it hurts more when your business didn't work out while you have different commitments like family, loans etc. Some people argue that this is not the best time for new challenges - we all hear about the financial crisis, raising taxes.. History shows that it's simply not true and a good business can start also during difficult times. There are many people who believe that a crisis is the best time to start and I can't agree more. Furthermore, nowadays it'

Week 4: Handmade

This is my third and last presentation  this semester so let me present my hobbies. Today you will learn how to create something from nothing with minimal effort and skills. You may ask why I chose it as a hobby, the answer is quite simple: for me the best presents are those which are handmade, because they show that a person which made them and then gave them to you made an effort and took time to do it. Besides, you are the only person in the world who has that handmade thing :) Decoupage Difficulty: easy. This is a technique of decorating almost every surface (wood, metal, glass, fabric, ceramics or plastic ) with fragment of the pattern cut from the napkin or special rice paper. (to be honest normal paper is good to - you just have to use more glue :) ) Covered surface will look like a painted one. In my opinion it is quite easy and probably in every house you can find tools to decoupage. If you are interested in the topic here is a simple tutorial how to create a bookm

Week 4: Aesthetic medicine

This is my second presentation and I want to discuss with you quite a controversial topic which is medical cosmetology . Did you try it, or would you? And if you are a man and you think this topic is not for you I encourage you to debate for or against   it even more! Would you do   it to yourself? Or how would you react to information that your girlfriend was not always so pretty? ;)         To be more specific let me define what aesthetic medicine is and even more important what it is not.          According to wikipedia: "Aesthetic medicine is a branch of medicine, plastic surgery, focused on satisfying the aesthetic desires and goals of patients" - Of course in almost every case this kind of treatments are used by completely healthy people. On the other hand, "Aesthetic medicine comprises all medical procedures in the field of Aesthetics excluding all surgical procedures which require an operating table and general anesthesia". So thi

Week 4: Dyslexia

Today  I would like you  to discuss the problem of  dyslexia.  Is it, in your opinion,  just an excuse or a serious problem? Maybe it is an opportunity? Probably many of you have heard about this disorder and most probably when some "not-so-smart" kid has wanted to excuse him/herself from getting  bad grades. This word often is associated with "clever" kid who just wants to have higher grades and have more time for the school leaving exam. In some cases it is true; still, it is difficult for teachers  to decide if somebody is just cheating the system. It is not as simple as being blind or being deaf. Besides some parents want their children to have this little "yellow paper" and privileges related with it. According to the Wikipedia:  "Dyslexia is characterized by difficulty with learning to read fluently and with accurate comprehension despite normal intelligence. This includes difficulty with phonological awareness, phonological
