Week 12 [21-27.01.19] - Owning Tesla in Poland

Znalezione obrazy dla zapytania tesla model x

When you hear about electric car, you most probably think about Tesla. These days electric cars are getting more and more popular. People buy electric cars for many reasons. Electric cars are mostly often used in cities, where distances are not too big so they can charge it at home. Going to longer trips requires more planning not to lose time changing the route or looking for chargers. Some people say that electric cars are awesome, others say it’s a mistake.

The model I chose is Tesla Model X. This car can fit your family and take you for a nice trip. Now let’s analyze how the trip may look like.

Tesla says that the range of Model X is 295 miles which is about 415 kilometers. Let’s say that you live in Warsaw and you want to take you family to Gdańsk for a beach walk. The distance is 340 kilometers so assuming that you leave your house fully charged, you arrive to Gdańsk with about 70 kilometers distance left. And here comes the question, where will I refuel or actually recharge my car. Well, it’s not super easy. Tesla’s Supercharger can give you another 250 kilometers in 30 mins, but the problem is that the only Superchargers available in Poland are located in Poznań. Well let’s look at other options. You can use other car chargers but number of fast ones is pretty limited and they can be actually in use. The last thing that you can do is connecting to the socket. This is not the fastest way because it fully charges your Tesla in 24 hours, but as long as hotel staff will let you do it, you have an option.

The example above shows that driving Tesla is not as easy as normal car that you can refuel on every gas station. The thing that still has to be improved is the speed of charging, because if I can refuel a normal car in 5-10 minutes with payment, and go another 600 kilometers, then waiting 30 minutes to charge a battery for 250 kilometers is kind of losing time.

One more important thing is service. If something happens to your Tesla, there is no service in Poland.

Summing up, owning a Tesla in Poland is kind of a challenge if you travel by car a lot, but if on a daily basis you use your car in a city and from time to time make a road trip, then this car should suit your needs.

Questions:

  1. What do you think about electric cars?
  2. Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)

Comments

I like electric cars and it is our future, without any doubt. If we are talking about all electric cars, i think, that in nearest future we will experience a lot more hybrid/electric vehicles from different companies such as mercedes, bmw, porsche and so on. It is just a matter of time.
Yes, i would like to have Tesla, i can't understand why i need to explain it, in my opinion, just every person wants to drive Tesla. It is not only hyped car, it is already a kind of revolution in our life.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
I think thats great that people are looking for new, more eco-friendly alternatives to typical gasoline cars. I think it is becoming better and better and thats good that cities are introducing some special laws for people to encourage them to buy electric cars.
2. Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
I would like to have Tesla one day but as you described there is not much charges spots right now and owning electrtic car is now quite of a challenge and not that easy as with other cars. I think this will change in next couple of years and I hope that prices will get (at least a little bit) lower so more people could afford them

Thank you for your comment! I totally agree with you that electric cars are the future, and yes - other companies definitely must work on electric cars if they want to keep up with technological progress in the future.

Thanks for your comment! Luckily there are more and more car chargers. Let's hope there will be much more soon.

To my mind electric cars are our future and it’s closer than we think. If we are talking about short distance travels than I don’t see a better option. As well as for daily purposes electric cars are just what everyone needs. Non electrical cars consume the most fuel during the start (from 0 to 30-40 km/hour) and then their consumption becomes normal. The hybrid cars sound like a good option because they use electrical engine up to 40-50 km/hour and only then starts using the fuel one. The biggest advantage of hybrid cars over the electrical ones is their ability to make a move completely without an electrical engine/engines that’s why it’s better option for long distance travels.

Yes, I would like. I don’t travel a lot in Poland and Tesla would be an optimal solution for me. On the other hand, there may be a problem when something goes wrong. As was mentioned in the article there is no Tesla service in Poland but still I see lots of Tesla cars on the streets. I think people owning these cars did manage to overcome this problem.
I would love to have a Tesla, despite all the drawbacks and downsides (you forgot to mention that electricity consumption jumps at lower temperatures.) Fortunantley, the climate here, in Poland, is way hotter than in Ukraine, so I believe that Tesla owners have way less troubles with that.
Cezary Róg said…
That's true, I forgot to mention the fact that batteries don't cooperate well with cold weather, but luckily it doesn't change the results that much.
I love the idea of electric cars, they not only produce zero amount of exhaust fumes but also they are really quiet and have excellent acceleration in comparison with normal gasoline-powered cars. I would love to have Tesla because they are one of the coolest looking, obtainable electric cars and by buying one of them I support the Elon Musk's project regarding space travels and Mars colonization.

What do you think about electric cars?
This is a great invention that takes care of the environment, but it isn't cheap because of the novelty.
Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
As much as I was positive about Tesla, I still wanted to drive a regular car to feel the motor and hear the sound.
Marcin Mróz said…
I think that they are a future of motorization. Maybe not so near future, but I think that in a few decades we should convert to electric cars. The ones powered by fuel produce air pollution which in some cities like for example Cracow is a real problem, that could be minimised if we used cars like Tesla.
It rather doesn't make sense in Poland now. I have always had exact concerns that you stated in your article. Where to charge it if I run out of battery in the middle of the trip? Where to fix it if something breaks? I guess that there are not so many Tesla experts in Poland.
Unknown said…
I think that electric cars are the future. I think that now people are more aware of the negative impact of carbon dioxide on the environment and want to use more eco-friendly solutions.
Charging such a car does not cost a lot, but I do not know if I would like to have such a car with so few places to load.
Marcin Krupa said…

What do you think about electric cars?
I think that idea of electric cars is amazing, but we are not prepared enough, to introduce them to our country as main substitute of diesel or gasoline cars. One loading station in whole country is not to much and using electric cars without support can be risky.

Would you like to have Tesla?
Right now? Definitely not. To be honest, I think that buying tesla in Poland is strictly for the birds.
I think electric cars are the future of the auto industry. We see how absolutely all top brands began to design a "killer" Tesla. Everyone is trying to keep up with Tesla and its innovations. I strongly respect the head of the company Tesla, Elon Musk, and first of all I would like to buy a car of this brand to support him for his contribution to the overall development and progress of our civilization. Obviously Tesla cars are the most advanced electric cars at the moment. I would definitely like to have such a car. As statistics shows, people prefer techno-logicalness instead of "premium" cars. Hello BMW :)
Wojtek Protasik said…
I think electric cars may be the future, but we shouldn't ban companies that aren't going electric. Forcing everyone to use electric car is not helping anyone as the environmental cost to produce it is currently far greater than produce and use a regular one. Also we don't have an infrastructure yet.

I am bit skeptical, because I really do like engines and the fact that pouring gasoline means I am ok to go. There is a lot of computing going on in electric cars obviously and I do not like the idea of being a passive user of something that costs so much money. I want to maintain it and use it how I like. However, I am not against it. I think automating tracks would be a great idea for example and one actually we should more focus.

When it comes to owning Tesla, well... I live in Poland, at least when I last time checked out, so it's not so pragmatic to own an electric car here. This price/product relation doesn't help either. I would buy something really nice if I had to spend so much money.
Vladlen Kyselov said…
Well I don`t know if I would like to have exactly Tesla, maybe it would another electric car. Electric car is the future, unless we will find another reliable source of energy for cars. I hope that in the nearest future all companies will start to produce electric cars and they will replace usual cars on the road. Then I will buy one of them, but know I only have to wait for this moment and use public transport and taxi:)
Cezary Róg said…
Thank you for your opinion! Many people say that they could have Tesla, but because of no sound from the engine they still prefer normal car.
Cezary Róg said…
Thanks for your comment! You can still charge electric car at home, but it takes more time to fill the battery 100%.
Cezary Róg said…
Sure, Tesla is no the only one in the market. More and more companies are working on electric cars, to keep their brand in the market in the future.
Cezary Róg said…
Exactly, there is no easy way to charge the car somewhere far from electricity from obvious reasons. In case of gasoline car you always have an option to bring more fuel in a canister somehow.
Cezary Róg said…
Thanks for your comment! I agree with your opinion.

Electric cars are the future. Tesla is pushing it hard in our life’s. I would love to see electric car everywhere since it’s more safe and ecological way t get around. Tesla had idea how to overcome problem of long charging with replicable battery puck. It wasn’t even a concept but actual base build next to supercharger where you can get in and replace you discharged battery for a fully charged in like 2-3 minutes. It’s unfortunate that It’s didn’t played out.
Unknown said…
Yes, they are already in our lives and I often think that I want to change the car. Often pay attention to the electric car. The idea is super, the price is also not too high, but it seems to me that there are not all the amenities for charging this car yet, and there is not always time to wait until it is charged. To everything else it turns out and there are no services.
Yes, for the sake of experiment, I like Tesla, if I had always traveled around the city and lived in a private house, I would have looked after such a car. But I am wondering that all is not so harmonious in the maintenance of this car, and at the moment I prefer the gasoline engine.
I think electric cars are the future of transportation and I have no doubt about it. Its current state, however, is suboptimal for me. The fact that you have to wait hours for your car to charge and that there’s only a small number of electric charging stations relative to gas stations makes it impossible for me to consider having an electric car today.

If I had to choose an electric car in the future, I would consider Tesla, of course. I love its futuristic look and feel, revolutionary solutions and Elon Musk’s overall vision of the future of electric cars.
Unknown said…

What do you think about electric cars?
That they are next step at personal transport. At the same time, they are not that much more ecological than standard cars. Cost of energy to produce car battery for electric cars is HUGE. And still you have to produce electricity to charge it. In Poland it means coal power plants.
Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
I would love to. It looks amazing, costs a lot. Is probably very comfortable to sit in it. And I I don't like it for some reason I can simply sell it for A LOT of money.
Unknown said…
I think that electric cars are promising - right now they might not be the best option available, but perhaps in the future they will be superior to cars powered by gasoline. I definitely wouldn't advise getting an electric car right now, though, especially if you live in Poland.

I would definitely like to have a Tesla, and the reason for this is fairly simple - right now Tesla's are somewhat luxurious, so just like with any other luxury, owning one would be a fairly nice thing.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
I think that they are the future, but not the closest one. I've been riding only one electric car (a hybrid actually - Ford Mondeo) and I wasn't enjoying that. Also trunk was so small because of acumulators, that this big car became quite useless.

2. Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
In future yes, but not know. The distance which I can took on a one tank is very important for me - 415 kilometers is just not enough. Also I want to be able to service my car as close to my place as possible.

To my mind electric cars are our future. Because they are more environmentally friendly but here depends in what they are doing with battery after car crashing. Because if this battery will be taken to the junkyard, then nothing good. Demand creates supply from this sentence I can suggest that if in Poland will be a lot of Tesla then will be a lot of superchargers station and a few services. Maybe, I would like to have Tesla, because this car looks futuristic, also it could be environmentally friendly, autopilot is very useful thing, but they need to do it safer. These are all the reasons why I would like to have Tesla.

For me electric car is the future of motorization. Right now we already have pretty decent cars like Tesla Model X, but as you said (at least here in Poland) we lack infrastructure to make using them possible. I hope that in couple of years there will be sufficient number of powering station so that I’ll be able to purchase my first electric car 😊. Sure I have heard about Tesla, first time I heard about this company was when Elon Musk announced to create fully functional electric car.

I think that electric cars are the future and I will buy one some day. It's incredible that you don't have to have a very big engine in your car to have such a powerfull car. Also, there is an advantage in sound of those engines. I'm looking forward to see how it will develop!

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)

I don't know honestly, I've read a lot of opinions on internet that those cars are not so well made. I think that Tesla needs some time and experience to develop a car that would satisfy me and my needs
What do you think about electric cars?
Today they make sense in some of the countries. As you have written it would be hard to use it in Poland because of lack of charging stations. But it's just a matter of time until they will be in daily use everywhere. We need to switch from oil to electricity and this change is slowly approaching.

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
No. I don't know what I could do with it today. It would just stand outside and corrode

Electric vehicles are with no doubts the future of transportation. The only electric car I have ever driven was BMW i3 and I really liked its performance, especially 0 - 100 km/h acceleration. However, driving electric car felt different than a gasoline one, especially in terms of engine sound and the way power is transmitted to the wheels, I had an impression of driving electric toy car rather than a real automobile.
Owning an electric car in Poland nowadays seems to be cumbersome, as you’ve mentioned in the article, additionally I have never driven Tesla so I don’t know what is its handling characteristics and if it gives you joy while driving it. When looking at Tesla prices, I would say it is a little bit too expensive and I would rather spend 90000 - 100000 $ for some high performance car like Nissan GT-R.

I really like electric cars. They're great, I'd like to buy one. Now it is unrealistic and it is a luxury for rich people, but I think that in a few years it will be possible for it to become commonplace. It's definitely good for smog

Yes, the most electric car I would like to have Tesla. But why? Because it is a pioneer of electric cars (I think so), they are incredibly nice and unfortunately it is difficult to buy such a car.
I think that electric cars are a fantastic invention, and I strongly believe that the faster they reach a wide adoption, the better chances we have at saving our world from a complete ecological disaster. Yes, there are still areas where conventional engine is better than an electric one, but I’m sure that with proper funding and research those issues could be resolved easily. Given a chance, I’d definitely want to have a Tesla car, though maybe perhaps once it’s possible to service it here in Poland. Aside from ideological reasons of being environmentally friendly, I like the extra effort that the company puts into making those cars special. The distance on one charge wouldn’t be too much of a problem for me since it’s unlikely I’ll have a need to make longer trips.

Maybe electric cars it's the future, but I don't love it yet, because it hasn't become common and the electric stations haven't become fully available and all this under the tests, and the owners of these cars "Experimental Laboratory".

About I like to have Tesla until now I don't care about Tesla in a humble way.

What do you think about electric cars?
I think that electric cars are future! It's very good invention that can help us care for "mother Earth". I like every idea that is "ECO"/"green". I very like the idea that in Warsaw we can see more and more electric cars or just hybrids (example: buses). I really love the idea about carring for our health due to expanding enviroment to a less damage.

Yup, Tesla are really cool and fast cars and tell me which men don't want FAST and Sports-looking car! Tesla is awesome!

I think that electric cars are our future, for example in the Netherlands starting in 2030, only emissions free vehicles will be allowed to be newly registered. You can read more http://moto.pl/MotoPL/7,88389,22506390,holandia-idzie-na-wojne-z-silnikami-spalinowymi-zakaz-juz-w.html

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
Currently I wouldn't like to have Tesla, becouse I haven't driving license.
Tesla is most likely canceling free charging going into the future for all cars. Some people are taking advantage and using it to power vehicles that are being used as taxis in a business setting. It didn't occur to Elon to put in fine print that operating a business with the superchargers is a violation, hence they are ruining for the rest of us that would not use that heavily.=)

I think that electric cars are the future of cars. I really admire Elon Musk for creating something like this when noone wanted to try this and they said that he is a mad man for trying to make it happend. I think he is chaning a world and is like top one person to admire.

I think Tesla's cars can save you some money on a long term but I think in Poland there is not so many places you can plug your car to load it so right now its hard to have only one car that is tesla because it would be hard to travel when you are travelling a lot. But yes I would love to have tesla just because of it looks and I would love to take part in Elon's work even by buying his car.

I like the idea of electric cars. I consider them as a future of motorization. Almost each car producer started working on its own electric vehicle. The zero-emission cars sound great, however, there is still a problem with emissions during the manufacturing the batteries for those cars.

Yes, I would love to have one. Tesla is the pioneer of the electric, autonomous cars. What's more, they are available in really fair and reasonable prices.

What do you think about electric cars?
I am very excited about electric cars. This is the future of transport. Can't wait the time when electric engines will replace conventional engines.

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
I would like to have Tesla, but not now. I think that Polish environment is not ready for electric cars. Still there is not enough chargers on stations. And still this kind of cars are very difficult to buy.

I believe that electric cars are the future of humanity. There'll come times that we won't use internal combustion cars. Everything will work on renewable energy.
One of the cars that are my dream to own in the future is Tesla. I have always liked its performance very much, accelerating and saving money for a long time causes dizziness.
What do you think about electric cars?
I think electric cars are great and I'd like to buy one. Environment is happy, people spend less on "fuel" in our case - electricity. It's a quite solid point, you will save a good amount of money with the electric car. Also, vast majority of the electric cars are smart and have on board modern technologies implemented. Every year, manufacturers produce new models for every taste and with various prices.
Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
Yes, no doubts. Fast, smart and eye catching . It's future.
1. I'm totally amazed by electric cars. I'm sure that it is the future. I hope they will become majority of all vehicles on the streets in the next 10-20 years.
2. I've been thinking about that a lot. I'm subscribed to a youtube channel where the guys testing, repairing and selling teslas. Today, I know pretty much about them. So the most arguable topic about electric cars is their mileage. And it is reasonable. The old models such as 2012-2013 years of production can drive around 200 km which is not that much. But new once can go 450+ km on one charge. The second problem (mostly for less developed countries such as Ukraine) is haw fast a tesla can be charged. Thankfully allover Europe and US there are thousands of superchargers which can charge a car up to 80% only in 45-50 mn. On that channel I saw a video when a guy with his family (wife and two kids) went to a euro trip. He had no problems at all (in Europe) . Moreover he spent nothing on the fuel or charging.

1. I think that it is future of our transport. Electric engines are much powerful than petrol engines so when we invent better batteries which will let us travel on longer distances then electric cars will be more popular.

2. I would like to have the Tesla car. I had an occasion to drive it on my own and it was simply...wow! It was incredible fast car and their design is really nice for me!
Unknown said…
What do you think about electric cars?
I think they are the future or should be because of their environmental performance. I used to drive hybrid car and it was really plesant experience. Electric acceleration is almost unhearable and amazingly smooth what is very comfortable.

Would you like to have Tesla?
Yes i do. Since they first showed up I really liked their design and the whole idea of fully electronic cars. Also they have many advanced technologies including autopilot. Also it is important for me to care about enviroment and electronic cars are the game changer in that case.

What do you think about electric cars?
I love the idea of electric cars, it seems like the future knocks to our doors and it really wants to be let in. Current solutions and technologies to make these cars run for a thousands of miles with unbelievable acceleration and speed will, in my opinion, dominate the motorization market.

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)
Yes, I am not in rush to buy a car, but if I did, I would like to get a Tesla. I hope one day our roads will get better and stations for electric cars will always be somewhere around. I like pretty much everything about Tesla, from exterior and interior design to possibilities and safety you get for a relatively low price.
I like this idea a lot, electric cars are very eco friendly but nowadays Poland is not tesla friendly yet. We lack of charging stations and roads are in a very abd shape (mostly). I would not like to have tesla now because of jelous neighbours who might destroy it and repairs and parts are very expensive.

What do you think about electric cars?

I think that is future of private transportation, because we should get rid of ICE cars that are so inefficient. Everyone complains that electricity is also produced on power plants from the coal, nuclear other sources, but they don't mention how many energy is wasted when we burn fuel in the engine instead of energy plant. I hope that in 10 years we will use autonomous electric transport.

Would you like to have Tesla? (shortly explain why)

I don't plan to buy a car soon, but if I want I definitely would choose Tesla. The worries about charger stations availability are true for now, but this will change as more people will start to use electric vehicles. Also I think that public transportation is far more efficient way than owning a private car.
I think that electric cars are awesome. They are much more ecological, so they are better for environment and they are very modern. The only problem about them is low range of this cars, lack of engine noise which is really cool in sport cars and not that big amount of charging stations especially in Poland. I obviously would love to have my own tesla because is modern and cool looking car. It has really high torque which means that acceleration is super high. Whole design of tesla cars is really eye-catching and just simply beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s not always good choice for long trips as you mentioned in your article but still having my own tesla car is my little dream.

I think that the situation when everyone drive electric car is our future. I would like to live up to that day when electric cars would completely replace motorcars. Motorcars should be consigned to the past like VHS or omnibuses.
I would like to have Tesla or another brand of electric car. The main reason is that they are convenient to use and do not have a negative impact to the environment. Also electric fuel costs less than petrol.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
