Did you know that you can build houses from hemp? Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa sativa L.) it’s not Marijuana (Cannabis sativa indica) Both come from one and the same plant, but industrial hemp is deprived of THC (illegal substance in many countries). In the world, cannabis sativa species with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of less than 1% are considered industrial hemp. Polish standards are even more stringent and allow the cultivation of so-called "hemp" containing less than 0.20% THC. Industrial hemp has many uses, including in construction - Hempcrete or hemplime is biocomposite material, a mixture of hemp hurds (shives) and lime, sand, or pozzolans, which is used as a material for building houses. Week 12[15.06-21.06] Love Death and Robots

I would like to present the fantastic series Love Death and Robots. You can watch trailer on Youtube: It is an anthology - each episode is a separate story. Eighteen short episodes made by various animation studios. Finally, fans of Sci-Fi book anthologies have a worthy serial equivalent. If you are not a Sci-Fi fan then you should watch this series because of its insane realization. Sometimes it's hard to notice that an episode is an animation. For true Sci-Fi fans, this is a must. Of course, it's hard to clearly define what the Sci-Fi genre is, but most often works from this genre talk about the future and the impact of science on humanity. On the other hand, there are very often universal psychological motifs that say a lot about ourselves and also about the times we live in. All the best in Sci-Fi you can get in this series. The only minus of the series are quite short episodes of 7-20 minutes, oh...and number of episodes – 18. :( After watching this visual mas

Week 12. [15.06-21.06] Ashen Cabin

3D printers are known since 1974 when David E. H. Jones  published his concept of 3D printing in the journal  New Scientist but first materials to make the 3D prints and equipment to that was developed at the beginning of 1980’S. Nowadays I guess that everyone is familiar with this technology and it became available for everyone’s use and you can easily buy one. As it comes to materials used in the 3D printers traditionally there are used polymers, basing on the ease of manufacturing and handling polymeric materials. However, we have also learned how to use metals or ceramics in 3D printing, and it became a versatile option for manufacturing for many factories. When it comes to human imagination is endless so having a 3D technology and wanting to reuse some wood wastes the HANNAH designed studio created Ashen Cabin. It is a small house in the middle of the forest in Van Etten, New York, built only with use of a 3D printing technology and robotics and every element of

Week 12. [15.06-21.06] BBQ-Donut

Nowadays people tend to speak only about corona virus and how it affects our lifestyle. The situation in which we are right now is very serious but fortunately the world won't be that way forever. I find myself very often thinking about things I will do after this whole covid situation passes and during one of those daydreaming sessions I came across one magnificent invention - BBQ Party Boat! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-2634935/The-13-000-BBQ-Donut-boat -sizzle-sausages-open-flame-floating-water.html?fbclid=IwAR30biuz-_ opVvCLXJqV9ZnekvBiGMffB8Tg0Pt329MTPd9vfypkpu12Yto In 2006 Sebastian Schmitt - a German inventor and entrepreneur - designed a circular sea cruiser fitted with a grill which was later called BBQ Donut. Sebastian's main goal was to develop a device which would enable people to spend time together on water while being able to consume delicious dishes. To that point such an activity was only

The topic of protecting our online privacy is very often discussed among people all around the world. Everybody wants to feel that whatever they do on their computers or smartphones is kept private. Not so many people, however, are aware of the fact that our real life privacy might also be at risk.  Kade Crockford is a Director of the Technology for Liberty Program at ACLU Massachusetts. ACLU stands for: American Civil Liberties Union and for nearly 100 years they have been fighting to protect individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution, Bill Rights, and laws of the United States. One of their latest and biggest concerns is the fact that the US government is about to implement the face recognition systems throughout the country. Questions: 1. Are you against using such technology or do you think it works in favor of our society? 2. Would such systems change the way you behave in public places? 3. If those systems were able to assure you
