Week 3 [25-31.03] Can you solve the jail break riddle?

Recently, when I was searching Ted.com I came across Riddle videos. The video that I want to show you was created by Dan Finkel who is a math teacher. He created many videos on ted talk and Here is one of them. In this riddle you are trying to take measurements of time using a-fuses. I personally didn’t know how to solve this riddle at all and had a problem with understanding how to make the fuses to burn out equally to the half. This type of videos really helps you to improve your imagination and ingenuity. I highly recommend watching this video and figuring out how to do it by yourself. Good luck. Questions: 1. Were you able to solve the riddle? 2. Is this type of learning new things and solving problems friendly and efficient? Why?      3. Did you come across any of his videos before?

Week 3 [25-31.03] Life of a fugitive – “Shantaram” by Gregory David Roberts

I recently read a book called Shantaram written by Gregory David Roberts. The book is his autobiography showing everyday struggles in India where he is trying to find his own way of living and finding a purpose of life. The author at the age of 26 years old was convicted for a bank robbery and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The book starts when he arrived   in India hiding from the government using a different name – Lindsay Ford , because he escaped from prison with this friend. Source: https://lanternghosttours.rezdy.com/85097/pentridge-prison-d-division-ghost-tour-victoria             In the past Lin was addicted to heroin and all he could think of was   how to get the money for the next dose. He robbed small shops and people what placed him in prison in the first place. In that prison he was beaten and humiliated on many occasions. He couldn’t live like that and knew that it woul...

Week 3 [25-31.03] Asian hype

Krzysztof Gonciarz is one of the most popular Polish youtubers. He is quite different than most of his business friends. He is known for being   a fan of travelling, taking amazing pictures and lately he   has been a fan of a healthy   lifestyle and   being fit. Sometimes he also blogs about self-improvement. Watch his video from Seoul and answer those questions: Do you   know Krzysztof’ s blog? Do you watch it regularly? Are you excited about Asian cities like Seoul, Tokyo or Hong Kong? Why/why not? Is there any vloger like Gonciarz that you like and want to share with us?

Week 3 [25-31.03] Monad

Monad – Theory Category Most of us here are students of IT department, which means most of us know a bit of Java progr amming language, or at least we should know. Java is   a well-known object oriented programming language (of course, you can use some other paradigms   in Java, but it’s mostly OOP language). Some of you may know that there are other paradigms of programming like logic or scripting. When it comes to me, I’m a big fan of functional programming.   What is functional programming? It’s an approach that is really strongly related to math, especially theory category.   There are books (quite thick ones) that try to explain some parts of FP, so it would be impossible for me to explain it   in   a short post. What I can do is   present a quick introduction to really helpful thing – Monad.   Let’s look at monad definition from Wikipedia: “ monad is a  design pattern  that allows structuring programs...

Week 3 [25-31.03] Rise and normalization of modern paganism

I for one am interested in different cultures and religious beliefs that inherently influenced those cultures and have become basis for unique and sometimes bizzare but nonetheless interesting and captivating cultures worldwide. Being baptized as an orthodox Christian born in eastern slavic country that during it's history had dozens of cultures living, clashing and interchanging on it's teritory i sometimes question myself, what is an inherent and essential part of what makes me what i am? So the questions are: 1. Is a religious ascpect of cultures woldwide interesting to you, or you prefer less theological point of view? 2. Do you know someone that identifies as pagan, maybe a slavic one, and what you think of such people? 3. Do you think that interest of old and sometimes more dark aspects of our civilization is a good thing, or something that was left in past must be forgotten forever?

Week 3 [25-31.03] Epic Games influence over gaming world

With an overwhelming success of Fortnite the Epic Games company had to decide what to do with it's newly accuired wealth and assets. By the information of techcrunch.com Epic Games made a staggering 3 billion US dollars in 2018 on Fortnite only. The funny thing is that Fortnite is a free to play game that makes money on inner digital purchases that do not have any significant influence over gameplay. But a huge 125 million player base somehow manages to sustain company and provide Epic Games woth record breaking revenue. And everything would be good and fine but recently Epic Games decided to challenge a gaming platform market that has been dominated by Steam for a many years. You see Epic Launcher is not very rich with available games and usually everyone will prefer to have their games on one platform and usually it would be Steam, but Epic decided that a good old exclusivity tactic, that some agree is a reason for console gaming downfall, would give Epic Store an upperhand ...
