Week 7 [26.11 - 2.12.18] Flying robots

Technology nowadays develops so fast. For sure, you have heard about drones that can replace postman etc. And I'm sure, you know at least a few machines that help farmers to cultivate their fields. But, have you heard about flying robots, that can improve it far more? Watch this video and think about questions below.

Questions:

  1. Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?
  2. Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?
  3. What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?

I think that flying robots will be very helpful in the future farms and other industries but in my opinion there will still be a need for human to control it. Of course that I’m worried about those small robots and generally about whole AI. Technology is developing fast and I’m scared that it can in some cases get out of control. What will happen? Those small robots and flying ones will do what they want without being under human control and it may be dangerous for us and our planet. I think that flying robots can be useful in controlling border crossings.
Well, what you are witnessing is a progress. It is natural. It is inevitable. And it sure does nothing but good to people. We got maps of almost entire planet, you can go anywhere in the world and not get lost. Fascinating? I would say no. It is as it should be. Robots will replace builders, workers, accountants, soldiers. Although they will not replace people themselves.

I think flying small robots might help in future farming but there will have to be some other things too. They cant do everything. I think that small robots are not so popular right now but they are getting more popular everyday. I think it will be scary when government will use this robots to track what people do or find someone because it will give me a feeling of beeing watched all the time. I think small robots can help in death threatening situations when people are beeing rescued or just see what is a situation somewhere that human won't fit. It can help it military too just to see what is happening in a battlefield or it might even be used to clear the earth for example to measure air pollution and who contributes the most to it. I think there is many ways to use them and we will be seeing much more of this small robots soon.
Thanks for share your opinion. I totally agree with you that small flying robots can be useful in controlling and keeping watching on border crossings. Do you think it will happen soon or it’s still too early?
What if robots can learn to create algorithms to “think” like people? Shouldn’t we control the progress of technology, and especially AI, anyway?
I agree that flying robots are getting more and more popular every day. Unfortunately, like everything, if new, amazing technology is used by bad people, it could be really dangerous. What in your opinion can stop those “bad” people?

1.Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?
I think they have already started to be used in advanced countries. For watering plants, exterminating insects or diseases, or extinguishing fires.

2.Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?
I think there will be services in the future that will monitor the flying robots.

3.What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?
I think in the delivery of goods, food, medicine. Amazon is already testing this method.
I think flying robots is the future not only farms also delivery, taxi etc. I heard that in Dubai tested flying drone taxi service. It could be very helpful, but I'm not actually understand how it will be work. If around us will flying a lot of drones it would be too noisy and unsafe. They aren't so small, that you won't notice them when they are doing map of building. Maybe in future they will be small like bee. But for this need time and most importantly small, powerful and lightweight power supplies.
Speaking about flying robots in the future, i think definitely people will use them not only for farms, but almost for every purpose, for every industry. We will face robots every day and everywhere in closest future. I don't worry at all about small robots, that can make a map of every building and i didn't even notice it. We need to concede this fact in terms of giving more opportunities for them to help us. As i mentioned, we can use flying robots almost everywhere: manufacturing areas, home needs, farms and etc.

These days the world of drones is growing really fast. People use for a variety of ways. I have already seen drones taking care of security on farms or spraying apple trees courts. The thing that is shown in the video with analyzing trees condition is another awesome step. So yes, flying robots are the future of farms.
I don't think there's a reason to worry about small robots scanning buildings and making maps of it. It can be even helpful with i.e. making evacuation simulations etc.
What can be another huge step are drone deliveries of any kind. I heard of Amazon testing something like this but I haven't read about any progress with this idea for some time now.

Yes, drones are a very promising investment in farming and many people not only in big industries but even independent farmers using them right for farming, aerial photography, and reconnaissance.
It is a big concern right now and there is some evidence that supports the idea that we should be worried about our privacy when we around domestic robots. In fact, iRobot, company that produces cleaning robots, was accused of gathering and selling personal data of its users and mapped areas of houses. We only can guess how true these allegations are but many security experts think we should stop using personal robots if we value our privacy.
In my opinion, drones can be very useful in delivering goods and packages to remote locations that are hard to get to.

Yes, I think that flying robots is the future of farms. Yes, it can be helpful for example in deliveries(post, food delivery, online shops that can send drone with your goods immediately).
Yes, it's a reason to worry. Creators of robots should remember about personal space of people that cannot be invaded. If they forget about it I think that somebody invent some device, that will turn off or just not to let robots inside your house/flat.
One of the best areas is online shopping with robot workers: one main server that receive orders and send list of goods to the flying robot which collect and pack them and next deliver it to customer. It will be faster than people because robots or server will know locations of all goods in stock.
Do you think that services that will monitor the flying robots will be enough?
How soon, do you think, Amazon is going to use them on larger scale?
Do you think people wont’s accept robots flying over their heads? Are they going to protest or they will be happy that drones, robots are used for some common services?
We are still developing better technology and even nowadays we can use robot for almost every area. But when they become more powerful, with more possibilities, don’t you think we will start be afraid of them?
Thanks for your comment! I believe that small drones will be used in even more situations we can imagine right now. Delivery drones won’t be small, but what if they could? If they could be as small as small birds and can lift big packages? Wit will be awesome, won’t be?
As you mentioned about gathering personal data, if drones will be so small that you can’t hear it and almost can’t see it, what will be a problem to send this kind of drone to someone’s house and leave it there to gather data? Don’t you think there should be some regulations who could use such technology?

1. I think so. The idea presented in the presentation can be very useful for firms that run a farming business. Non-flying robots are used in many industries. Undoubtedly, flying robots will also find their use in various things.

2. There is nothing wrong with that. Now a lot of robots work on this principle. For example, even vacuum cleaning robots also create for themselves a room map (not so detailed) in order to fully function.

3. Probably the most popular potential use of flying robots is shipping. It can be parcels, food, letters, whatever. Such a delivery will help reduce the time and possibly cost.
I think that flying robots (drones) is good solution for farms because in most cases they are work on electric energy and it has lower price than gasoline and also they move in the air so whey don't need in most cases prepared infrastructure on fields to do their work.
Also drones can be helpful in delivery business but I think that in case of delivery they are helpful in cases when they deliver something outside of the town because if this type of deliver will be applied to big town then possibly we will be have huge problem with crashes of the drones right on our heads.
Yes, I think that flying robots are future of the farms. Gathering information about plants is extremely important and thanks to such robots we can automate it. What is more, with more advanced robots, not only the flying ones, we may be able to almost completely robotize farms. In my opinion that would greatly improved the efficiency of gathering food, like in industry for example. Most big factories are highly automated and there are robots for every step of production because it is cheaper and better than human labour.
I am not afraid of robots making maps of every building. In my opinion it would be great, just like in the movie Prometheus, where they were exploring some alien construction on other planet and they were using small robots to map the entire structure. What is more, I think that despite of small size of such robots, people can invent some methods which would prevent them from getting inside some buildings or rooms.
In my opinion there are many areas where flying robots can be useful. They can move and deliver different object, they can be used to mapping places and detecting objects. They are already used in entertainment, to create astonishing videos.

Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?
In my opinion yes, flying robots may be the future of farms. I can see it this way. Most farms are made of certain paths and patterns, which are not complicated - basically there are made of lines or circles. There is always some kind of regularity which can be handled easily by a machine. Same idea may applies to other industries, until it is not something super complicated, the process of adjusting a machine to work should be smooth.

Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?
I am certainly not worried about that whatsoever. We live in times when any data may be collected without our notice. Things like internal maps of buildings are just a matter of time if you ask me. I would be more worried if those robots could perform some actions without any notice, rather than just scan environment.

What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?
Just from the top of my head, those robots could be useful in transportation and overall commute. If their load was enough to lift person, it could dramatically change our way of transportation. Imagine tiny, urban airlines which transport you or your friends within minutes to the furthest place in the city.
Drones are heavily used for farming in some countries and it is cool, because farming becomes technological field that programers could find a job in. I don't mind progress so robots do not scare me, everything needs to be clear and no information about their work should be secret, if everything is clear and understandable there is noting to be afraid of. The most obvious area that could profit from using flying robots is building, because you would not need to construct huge cranes if you have a robot that is strong enough to lift materials high enough.

The introduction of flying robots is truly progress. From robots that collect map data to robots they want to incorporate into food delivery. Recently, a lot of news that these robots are actively used in military missions. But after all at some point they can become very much, and they will violate the space of a person. Therefore, any positive progress has its advantages, but as long as it is limited in scope.

I think that this is a good thing for farmers, of course I am talking about those big farmers who have large fields, they can check the field without traveling around them every day, just like in the movie they will be able to count how many harvests they will have.
Of course, they can be used in other industries, now it's very easy for photographers, and I think that not only would it work, but also for example on construction sites.
I think that so far nothing threatens us, and I'm probably just using the technology of house scanning, so I'm not worried at the moment.

It is definitely a step forward. Such something will be useful on farms. I think that flying robots will be useful everywhere.

We are developing and there will be more and more such robots. Right now we probably don't know how the government is watching us.

We can send robots to areas that aren't explored yet by us. In caves or other places where we don't have access and such a robot is able to fly there.

Flying robots will be useful for sure in many industries and on farms as well. I guess that right now there is nothing to worry about, because those kind of robots are just prototypes and now are not used as much to make me worry about spying on me.
Small robots could easily get to "hard to get" places for human and the bigger ones could easily automatically fill stock
1. Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?
It think that they are the future, not only of farms but alos of other industries.

2. Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?
I am, but I'm afraid it's too late to protect our privacy - it is already hard to do it, and in future it will even worse.

3. What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?
Delivery of food or other things

Do you think any regulations should be made to make cooperation with robots easier? Or it’s enough to let creators set their rules, they believe in, into robots?
Mapping rooms can be a little bit tricky, don’t you think? If you didn’t notice robot when it scan all building, then it can be used against you.
Delivering goods by using drones will be extremely useful. But when you would like to transport something heavy, you will need to have bigger robot that can lift those packages. Don’t you think that using plains to deliver big packages when they can lift a lot of them, will be a better idea?
Thank you for your opinion. Of course we are aiming to scenario where very area of our live will be automatized, Do you think that robots won’t need humans to work fully correct? Or humans still will be necessary to control, even a bit, those robots?
I agree with you, that we live in times when any data may be collected, but anyway, in my opinion, we should take care of ourselves and control those data that can be collected, shouldn’t we?
I see your point. Using flying transport will extremely shorten your time of travel. When it could happen? Are we close to that point?
I’m not afraid of progress to, but I think when robots will start generation too much data about everything it start become a little bit tricky, don’t you think?

Undoubtedly flying robots or drones, whatever we call them, are the future of not only agriculture but any other industry. The only limit is always cost of such machines which will be decreasing while they become popular.
Privacy - this is really important topic related to technical developments, in m my opinion we can’t do much about it. Of course there are and will be proper regulations concerning this kind of machines, but I think, like in the Internet, it is impossible to be 100 % anonymous.
The most useful scenario for such machines is exploring areas which are too dangerous or not accessible for human e.g.: rescue missions during natural disaster. Another application is replacing human in repetitive and simple activities like delivering mail, parcels or any other goods.

I think they are, or at least they will play an essential role in the future of farms and farming in general. Robots are helpful and efficient in what they are doing if they were adequately programmes. I think all industries will find it useful. For example, we can hire robots to clean offices or use drones to transport us from place A to B without being worried that some crazy driver will fly into us.

I think of it as the next step in humans development. As a programmer, I'm aware of potential risks that it adds to our lives, but I also know how to fight with them. As far as we openly tell about dangers, I think it's okay. Thiefs have to break the looks to make them better, so I think we should not be that afraid about it, but take into account our privacy. For example, run these robots only in the rooms that we are not scared that this map will be spoiled.

Transportation, farming and shipping. These free will definitely benefit from flying drones. There is a countless number of usages of flying drones, so I think some people for sure will find a use of them in any industry we can think of.

Yes, I think drones can be helpful in farms for example to plant seeds. There are a lot of possibilities for example to clean windows on shy towers.

I’m little scared because thief’s can used it to scan our house to know what we have in house.

Maybe to control traffic and create signs on the road to avoid traffic accidents in high speed or to create a buildings or new type of display ads.

Flying robots as a future of farms, i dont think so but there is a case for flying robots to be a major innovation in delivery industry (where applicable).

Robots that we cant even see , or dont notice arent a problem they are just another way of doing whats has been done before and there is no way for us to stop that. Im afraid of people that will use them not of their capabilities.
Rescuers, forest overseeing, traffic discharging there are many ways flying robots can be useful to us.

Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?
Yes, of course I think that flying robots can be future of effective farming. Nowadays, people have to know how to use a lot of machines and be careful about special fertilizers for growing etc. Robots can do it faster without people. It can be key moment of farming.
To be honest, I'm worry about robots. I don't trust them, situation with farms is something different for me. I'm scary about that. I'm not against flying robots on the ground but I don't want to see them near to my house.
Hmmm, I think that the best option for flying robots is postman job because they can avoid traffic jams and deliver package as fast as possible without thinking about old car's engines, fuel reserve etc. There is good video with explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok7Lp-37Et8&frags=pl%2Cwn.
It is difficult to assess today whether flying robots will be the future of farms. I am convinced that flying robots can be helpful in many other industries.

I m' not worried about these small robots that can create a map of each building, because they aren’t that small that we can't see the flying robot.

In my opinion, flying robots can be useful in case of a bank robbery, terrorist attack or other police activities.
1. I am not sure if flying robots are the future of farms but definitely they can be helpful. At first they could be used in a way presented in a video, by helping in gathering data about farm. However, later with some progress in those technology fields we could have robots that would help with gathering smaller fruits or that could take care of plants.

2. Well robots are already used in military so I am not that worried. It is quite obvious that people can use technologies in both positive and harmful way. Despite that I firmly believe that robots will bring more benefits than damage to our society.

3. We often hear about alpinists that get lost in mountains. Maybe such robots could help in finding them in time. I think that rescue missions could make use of such robots. Obviously we would have to adapt those robots first. For example make them more resistant to lower or higher temperatures.
I think that drones help in the development of industry as much as possible, but also any theological thought can be dangerous for humanity.
Anything that has artificial intelligence can pose a potential threat to humanity, which is why machines should not have their own will and have limitations.
Flying robots can also be used to save lives in difficult conditions, eg in difficult conditions where people can not reach.
Also under the account of delivering parcels where such robots would be able to deliver the pre-ordered item faster
Thank you for the article. In the last 5 years, drones are used very actively. Although this is not a new development and the army has long been. I do not see a particular problem, the government used to use satellites and other reconnaissance devices for photographs. It is clear that now many can buy a drone and the availability for surveillance has increased. Special laws are already being introduced for drones, many are still in development, but there are already precedents. Flying robots have simplified life for many, I use them in various industries, thanks to the many technologies have become cheaper.

This kind of robots are looks awesome. With such little sizes they could be really useful for farms. For most serious problems it also can be good. If people will use such small robots for good purposes it should't harm anyone.

I think that flying robots are great tool to improve farm industry so for sure it is the future
especially when drones are becoming better and better nowadays and are still under well developing.
I am not big fan of conspiracy theories when technology works against us so no, I am not afraid of that.
In any kind of delivering for example.
I think that flying robots are future for a lot of industries, not only farms. Of course, using drones to upgrade farms is a great idea for precision farming, statistics and helping farmers in their work overall. But using them for delivery or taxi service or even in military is also great opportunity we could use to make life better. About small robots that can make map of buildings without anyone noticing I think that it’s a bit frightening. Such small robots as well as artificial intelligence are awesome ideas with huge possibilities of development but relate to big risks as well. Until we as humans have control over them everything is all right, but when they can communicate with each other almost like talking without human surveillance things could go bad for us. Hopefully not as bad as in Terminator movie series. In my opinion we should continue to develop these areas but always keep our hand on pulse and be sure things never goes sideways.
Drones can help many farmers. The fact is, many entrepreneurs do not have enough money to provide themselves with material resources. This can be a problem.
If this solution is not expensive, it will be popular. Drones will facilitate the work of many American farmers. And yes, drones can be used to build more travel maps. Any point on the planet will be visible on your device. You will never get lost. You will always find your way through flying drones.

1. I think that drones and flying robots are the future of farms and also it can be helpful in other industries e.g. for delivering packages.
2. I think that it is a big challenge for us as a programmers to care about a privacy in our products. I think that it is highly possible that such robots will be able to scan every building which can be useful but we also should have solution to have a possibility to block such scanning.
3. As I already said I think that such flying robots will be the best for delivering packages.

Do you think flying robots is the future of farms? Can it be helpful in other industries?

Yes. I think they can be helpful in almost every other industry. For example imagine delivering mail/packages by drones. It would be awesome, you could track your package real time.

Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?

Why would I worry about it? I'm 100% into new things and technologies, and I hope that they will do a lot of positive things in terms of our living.

What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?

Medical - imagine flying drones patroling streets, parks, etc for a people with medical problems, like faint or something like that. There are a lot of possibilities
There’s a multitude of applications for machines like that. Things that immediately come to mind are logistics, inspecting large building for signs of damage, performing simple tasks over large areas. I believe one of the posts from the earlier weeks mentioned drones from Australia looking for sharks in the sea. Sure, there is the matter of possible abuse of this technology for constant surveillance, or worse – it’s not hard to imagine that such flying machine could be rigged with explosives and then flown towards a place with a large concentration of people. At the same time, people feared the steam engines and computers – and that didn’t stop those inventions from revolutionizing our lives and making a lasting change – for the better. So I’m hopeful for a future where I get a fresh pizza delivered to my doorstep by a drone, rather than a future where it delivers a bomb.

I would say it is presence. There are many drones right now which helps farmers. For example drones applicate liquids with pesticides.
Aren't you worry about those small robots, that can make a map of every building and you didn't even notice it? Why? Why not?
I don't believe that they would be able to fly everywhere, even if they won't propably have rights to record anything they want.
What other areas, do you think, we can profit from using flying robots?
There are number of areas like that. Drones are now used by firefighters to
extinguish the fire in the buildings or by energy companies to remove things from the high voltage lines.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
