Week 6 [20-26.04.2020] Globalization

With the development of transport and world in general, globalization became a real thing. For people in most parts of the world, especially among highly developed countries, things like access to goods, global market or travelling easily are common and considered normal. Globalization not only brings us goods but also can have some negative consequences.

At first, when thinking about globalization, we consider all the positive phenomenons that it provides us with. Probably the most important one is access to markets of other countries or in general the global market. Without a doubt it makes our lives easier. If we want to buy something that is not produced in Poland, but for example China it is very easy. The invention of internet and online shopping simplified it like nothing ever before.

Of course internet is not the only thing that provided people with access to other markets. Other important pro of globalization is transport and easy access to it. Common usage of cars, planes, trains, ships not only helped the market but also it made travelling far cheaper and more popular. Because of this we can now travel around the world, get to know other cultures, people or even easily change our place of residence.

Unfortunately, globalization is not only about good phenomenons. It is quite evident nowadays. Viruses spreading is far easier now than it was before. Hundred years ago it wouldn't be that simple for a virus to travel from China to United States. Less people would be infected if people wouldn't travel as much as now. It would be far easier to stop the spreading of the virus.

The other con of globalization is possible cultural homogeneity. With access to market and information it is very easy for other countries or companies to affect people from all around the world. Probably the most obvious example would be language. Nowadays many young people learn english so it may cause that native languages, used by these people ancestors, will be less present or will completely disappear. That is especially the case of local dialects.

To sum up, globalization affects us all, ones more directly, ones less. We should think not only about it's positive aspects but also consider the negative ones because there are always some that we might not be aware of.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

From a scientific and technological point of view, I think that a serious drawback of globalization is that it allows companies in developed countries to find cheaper labor and replace expensive labor in their country, which greatly increases their profits, but delayed the development of their robot technology, because there is cheaper labor, why bother to spend a lot of money to develop robot technology?

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
It is wise to choose according to the quality of the products.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
Yes, negative aspects of globalization is answered in first question. As for the positive one, globalization has brought a wave of progress, the old social forms will be replaced by new ones, and developing countries can attract foreign investment and increase employment.
1. I love globalization. We benefit from it tremendously. It gives as many exotic products to buy and enjoy. It introduces standardizations in different fields, they help us to communicate and do business more efficiently. There are some negative to it, but they are marginal, so I don’t feel obliged to even mention them.
2. I don’t care if they were made in different countries. We should buy products based on quality and price, not where they came from.
3. I have already written them in the first point.

1. Globalization is a good idea as long as it isn’t too advanced. It is wonderful to cooperate between countries and thus be able to work all over the world. Unfortunately, when globalization is too advanced, it becomes dangerous, as it 's now in the age of epidemics. If we were not so dependent on other markets, it would be much easier for us to control the epidemic, and not wait for the equipment to arrive, not to mention that the virus did not reach Europe alone.

2. I always check who made the product, I prefer to buy from local suppliers. Unfortunately, often the prices of these items are much higher.

3. Due to globalization, countries can gather specialists from around the world, while its disadvantage is the dying of local markets
Recent events wonderfully show what globalization does to people. We are addicted to others which will lead to tragedy during the war or epidemic. On the other hand, if it wasn't for this dependence, we wouldn't be able to get many products and services. Many countries should approach each other and follow established rules, which should be changed after covid-19. I am aware that more expensive local products are really Chinese products with changed packaging. It doesn't matter where we buy from. It is important that the products are of good quality and serve for years.
For me, globalization is simply the relationship between the economies of different countries. It is necessary for the operation of our world, although it is not perfect.
1. Globalization is generally positive, but its negative aspects are indeed very important. Take for example the migration crisis and what happened to the western societies. It may sound a little racist, but a few assimilated foreigners make no harm to anyone, but if they become to be a huge group, it’s not very pleasant for the native citizens of particular country.

2. Yes, I always do care about it. I hate Chinese products and I buy them because nowadays sometimes is no choice. I’d never buy Chinese clothes, or food imported from China. They always make sure to do everything as cheap as possible and they don’t care about their workers which results in spreading tons of toxic shit all around the world. The worst aspect of that is that people stopped thinking that Chinese products are bad and enjoy importing rubbish from Aliexpress and similar shops. Some time ago I wanted to buy a winter cap, so I entered Peek & Cloppenburg shop to look for it and all I found was disgust when I saw quite expensive one from a brand such as Tommy Hilfiger, but made in China. Why would anyone want to buy Chinese shit for such money? And yet people do buy it. It’s frustrating.

3. I think that the most positive aspect is the possibility to work in international companies just like if they were local. Today, assuming basic knowledge of English, there is no difference from which country your teammates are. It gives huge opportunities for countries like Poland, with relatively cheap labour.
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
I think it gives us more benefits than negative aspects. It can lift people out from poverty, more goods are available from different countries and everything is easier to find. Definitely negative aspects do not convince me.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
To be honest i dont check this at all. When i want to buy something for example clothes i am just looking for something that i like it. Anyway i think it is easier to find china products in our country than things made in poland.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
I wrote about that as an answer to the first question. In my opinion there is more positive aspects like for example better access to products or services.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
I think globalization brought benefits as well as negative effects. On my opinion, I would rather say that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
When I buy certain goods I only think about the quality of these and the price, so the origin of the product is not the least important, but less relavant for me than other mentioned aspects. Of course, If i see the identical product, which is locally made I will definitely choose the local one as I know that my country economy will benefit from this purchase.
3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
Globalization contributes to the international division of labor. Under its conditions, funds and resources are more efficiently distributed, which contributes to the rise in the average standard of living and the expansion of the life prospects of the population.
The benefits of globalization are also associated with the benefits of free trade on a mutually beneficial basis, satisfying all parties. In regards to negative sides, so these are the possibility of transfer of control over the economy of individual countries from sovereign governments to other hands, including to more powerful states,
an increase in the technological gap in developed countries and so on.
2. Don't you think that it is important to help local market by buying the product? Many people believe that it will help the country. Altough looking at the problem from capitalist point of view it is better to buy the best product on the market because that will eliminate the bad ones from the market.
1. Don't you think that big dissadvantage of globalization is access to cheap labor f.e. Apple hiring people in China to mantle iPhones paying them really low wages. There have been many people saying that workers are treated poorly in these factories. Ofc. it is not 'official' aspect of globalization but it can be a consequence of it.
1. I fully agree. Being able to produce your own products f.e. medical accessories like masks etc. you are independent economically from other countries. Outsorcing everything to China that seems to be the case nowadays is not a very good idea.
2. Don't you think that if you bought a better and cheaper product from China producer it would actually help local producer becuase he would see that the price is too high or the quality is too bad?
Very fair point that most of the products are Chinese but packaged in a way they seem local.
1. Fully agreed. Western cultures beacuse of globalization constantly seek to get cheap workforce. You had that case in Germany when they brought lot of Turkish people. You had that in France when they brought many people from their colonies to work as blue collar workers. Now we have that case in Poland when many people from Ukraine, Belarus and other eastern countries come to Poland to get education and work. I think it can be benefitial for both sides, foreigners and the natives but only if it is well coordinated and regulated by the law. I think that Great Britaint is perfect example of well mixed society with many cultures. By the way it doesn't seem racist to me. We can see how big social problems western societies have nowadays because of mass imigration.
1. I do not agree with the viewpoint you are presenting. Globalization is great, the fact that we can choose the market from which to buy the product is great - pure capitalism. It is globalization that will help us overcome the coming economic crisis, because it will allow us to sell products manufactured by our country. Globalization is not only products, many companies are already moving their IT centers to our country, where employee retention costs are rational to the quality of services. Dying of languages - I also think that the assumption of every language is that as many people as possible use it.

2. This is globalization, some kind of risk maximization while maintaining adequate quality. Referring to the question - it depends, if I was an entrepreneur who must maintain the company, pay employees, I would decide to buy a product from China. However, if I bought something for my own use, I would buy it from a local one.

3. Certainly the biggest downside of globalization is that the development of some countries is limited. What I mean, some of the countries like Bangladesh, Congo have an extremely cheap labor force and are even used by other countries, corporations. Overseers make profit through corporations, while ordinary employees live in misery. A good example is Congo, a country that is probably the second largest in the world in terms of natural resources. However, the people of Congo are kept in ignorance and stupidity. Countries and corporations that steal Congolese goods are most profitable.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
According to the definition, globalisation is a set of processes leading to the increasing interdependence and integration of states, societies, economies and cultures, resulting in the creation of "one world", a global society; the disappearance of the category of nation state. The obvious advantage is that the prices of products in the age of globalisation are falling. But when a global company eliminates its competition, it will have a monopoly and prices will rise. I do not see the positive effects of globalization.
In times of pestilence, there is a problem. The pandemic reveals the fragility of a globalised system. Some sectors of the economy are experiencing a major upheaval. If a pandemic prevents one supplier in a country from producing a critical and widely used component, the finished product will not be available on time.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

It's not that simple. I'm going to buy what's better, and better available. What pisses me off the most is that after this turmoil with the crisis, the first link, i.e. the producer of the raw material (farmer) such as milk, livestock or grain has a price (depending on the type of goods) several to several percent lower. My colleague has a pig farm and cannot watch the prices of meat or cold cuts go up while he is aware of the fact that the raw material stood on a zloty per kilo. Processors want to make a profit from the crisis, and often the blame is poured on the farmer. I think I could buy local products if the producers did not raise prices, for no reason at all. Buying prices are lower, but they still increase because greed is more than reason.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
I already explained it above

1. To me, globalisation is generally a good thing because it is a voluntary process. No one is forcing people to learn Mandarin, eat burritos or see the Gran Canyon. If some traditions, dishes or languages die because of globalisation, it is because of every person’s decisions.

2. I would consider buying a local product if it is better value for money, not for the sake of supporting local businesses. The country of origin matters to me only in terms of general quality.

3. Globalisation exposes us more to other cultures. We become more open and experience fewer cultural shocks when travelling. Globalisation has also made our diets more diverse with easier access to a wider range of food products.
Viktor Ryś said…
1.
I think that overally globalisation is a positive phenomenon, it helps to develop the world as a whole and not in small independent of each other units. The provided argument about easier virus spread is just a side effect of much enhanced travel experience, which is convinient for a lot of people. Also cultural hegemony is okay, I don't see anything wrong in cultures mixing and part of the world being less violent.

2.
I mainly look at the quality of the product and the what do I exactly need. If the chinese product needs all of my expectations that I buy it, the country of orgin doesn't matter that much for me.

3.
The countries that are poorer have the posibility to have their work outsourced to them, this is both a positive and negative aspect, the latter because the workers there are often exploited for incredibly low money, on the other hand, outsourcing gives the people more opportunities to work in industries that aren't exisiting locally in the country.
First of all I am not standing against or for something. I tried, and I think I managed to do that, to not include my personal point of view. I read sources, also I am quite familiar in the topic because I am interested in politics so I would so all the points are relevant. I didn't state that globalization is good or bad cause it has many different aspects.

2. In the first point you mentiod that idea of choosing product from any market you want is great and called it pure capitalism. Then you say that you would rather buy something (for your own use) from a local producer. What is your motivation? Isn't it kind of opposing to the idea of pure capitalism. Capitalism, as an idea, doesn't care about nationality so it forces idea of global market so you could choose therefore if you buy a local product that is a bit more expensive rather than buy product from, lets say, Germany that is as good as local one you don't really support the idea of choosing the best product.
I wouldn't agree that there are no positive effects of globalization but you are making an interesting point saying what you mentioned in first answer. I think that globalization is very complicated problem and, as you mentioned, it is leading to interdependence which can be very harmful, especially in time of crisis.
I can agree with you on many things that you mentioned (food market, travelling) but I wouldn't say that this is individual decision. Let's say that our government decides to buy lot of medical equipment from China and provide it to every hospital in Poland. It is cheaper so Polish factories (that make medical equipment of course) are going bankrupt. Therefore there is no market of these sort of things in Poland. When the crisis comes we have no choice but to buy everything we need from other countries what makes us strongly dependant onothers. Economically thinking we lose a lot of money and let other countries to earn it which is not good for indivudal interest of a country.
Love your comment. Very rational. Yes, the aspect of outsourcing work to other countries is another big, complicated aspect of globalization. Today I heard that many people in Bangladesh didn't get their paychecks because many western clothing companies decided to put producing on hold. That is a big problem that shows both aspects. First of all it shows that despite the fact that probably many of those people are mall-treated in their workplaces, their standard of living is growing. On the other hand they are strongly dependant on big western companies that, in my opinion, care mostly about income rather than workers in some third world country (example of Apple is quite relevant in my opinion, but there is plenty)
1. Like everything it has good and bad sides. The good ones are more often seen but after thinking slowly the bad ones are there too.
2. I should care but I don't because it is another thing to worry about in daily life, to check all the specifics of products.
3. The good ones are that everything is accessible and about bad I have 2 stupiud examples. One is McDonald's and the way their restaurants look, they are all the same. Mc donald on ostrobramska street used to look like a typical american restaurant but because of globalisation of the restaurants they make it look like every other which is shitty. Another example is fiji water. Why do we need to have the same water all around the world, transport of it must be very contaminating.

The world has shrunk so globalization is inevitable. Its negative effects can be sad but probably inevitable. However, the interaction of societies and national economies is some form of future.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

If only I can buy local products. Nowadays it is getting harder to buy something not Chinese. Products, national, regional, although a bit more expensive are more valuable. I'm inclined to such.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

I don't know, I've never thought about that. It's hard to comment on this topic. What other effects. Maybe people migration, I don't know.

1. Personally, I think globalization is a neutral phenomenon. On the one hand, you lose your cultural awareness for the sake of living as one, but on the other, it opens up amazing opportunities for us. Today you can live in Poland, and tomorrow you can sail on a yacht to Saint Lucia.

2. When it comes to shopping, I don't pay attention to the place of production. Nowadays, thinking that Chinese equals weak is wrong thinking. It all depends on the company that decides what components to use to produce product from.

3. As another example is the opportunity to do business around the world. The rest of the question was completed in response to 1 question.
Globalization has its advantages and disadvantages. At the moment, the biggest disadvantage of globalization is, for example, the virus that through globalization
spread very quickly. As for the advantages: free movement, visiting places that were not available,
easy access to foreign products.
I always try to buy local products to support our economy. Recently I had a dilemma
what bike to buy and it just fell on the Polish company :).
To sum up globalization in the times we live in is very good but also dangerous. We can easily buy
exotic spices or devices not available in our country.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
Criminal rates are never appealing. Some may say that developed world has opened its doors to everyone way too soon before we got others to at least decent level of development. As a result -- this. Me, I think that a huge part of developed world success is actually openness and globalization.
2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
When buying products I care about quality, and pretty much quality only.
3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
I truly believe in positiveness of the unified planet. I anticipate the future with no borders, no boundaries. The most complicated thing will be to preserve and develop new cultures, which could only emerge in the ethnostates. We will have to sacrifice them in favour of the unified nation of the Planet Earth.
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?

I think that they're some aspect of globalization that are good - like easier travel, better trading, or easier access to a good education. However they're some negative ones - I think that it's important to have some local tradition, architecture, etc. Otherwise, Earth would become a little bit boring and monotonous.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

I try to support local suppliers, but not if the products are bad. If they're two products of similar quality I would choose the local one over the one made in China.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

I think I accidentally answered that question in the first one.
1 / Many experts say that in our world today we need a different type of globalization. There must be ways to confirm that all countries benefit from the benefits of globalization. We must help poorer countries by providing them with better education and showing them how new technologies work. Each year, leaders of the world's largest industrial nations come together to discuss economic issues.

2 / The effect of the country of origin ”is often replaced by“ the image of the country ”and these terms have the same meaning. But I usually do not neglect non-local non-foreign products.

3 / In general, it is clear that the pros and cons affect the problem of economic security of participants in the globalization process. Global problems, which include the preservation of peace, environmental pollution, overpopulation of the planet, organized crime, terrorism, etc. must be decided together for a common future.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?

In my opinion, globalization is an unstoppable phenomenon that was bound to happen at some point in the history of the world. Personally I see many positive aspects of it but this is very subjective. I enjoy low-cost travelling and easy access to goods that are produced in another part of the world but can be shipped to my house in just a couple of days. However, I can imagine that if we continue this way, many valuable things such as distinctive languages, traditional garments or certain skills will dissappear or even will be eradicated.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

To be honest I usually buy the things that are easily accessible on the internet. I rarely pay attention to the location of the production factory, I care more about the value for money and quality. It saves me a lot of time to order something online in just a few minutes and have it delivered to my doorstep rather than search for a local manufacturer.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

I really enjoy travelling so for me, low-cost flights and the fact that English has become a common language is definitely a positive aspect. However, globalization also creates an area for possible exploitation of both the environment and the people. For exemple, with the growing popularity of fast fashion, big brands are using cheap labor to minimalize the costs of production. They also use land and farmers from poorer countries to grow (and even overcultivate) the products that are entirely shipped to other markets and sold with much more profit.

1. I think that globalization is a derivative of progress. So I just accept it because I like the way we are living today, with broad internet access and only a few languages necessary to talk with anyone around the world. On the other hand, I’m afraid of vanishing our cultures and limiting our freedom.
2. Yes, I do. That a principle of self-aware nations- it’s a natural choice to buy something from our country, rather than import it because thanks for that our economy grows – the more many stays in our country- the better we can live. A good example is Germany.
3. You didn’t mention traveling, nor medicine (a positive example). Thanks to globalization, even in those hard times – one country can help the other.
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?

I think globalization is important in our lives and makes our lives better and easier but not with this virus we all see the negative side of globalization.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

It depends on the product I need to buy and the quality of it. I don't care that much where the product is made but the balance of what I need, the quantity, and affordability.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

Globalization can allow companies to move their production to other countries with fewer restrictions which can have negative impacts on Tax or even climate if the company is trying to escape restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions.

1. Globalization is inevitable and is a sign of technological development. What is important is to focus on minimizing the damage that occurs during this process.

2. I try not buy things produced in China. Its quality is usually very poor and I think it is very important to support local businesses. Products shipped from China cause a lot of pollution along the way and also usually are made of cheap and toxic materials so even if the price for a similar product is much lower I don't think it's worth buying.

3. It's great that the flow of information allows people from all over the world to educate, learn and become who they want to be.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
In general, I do not have an estimated opinion about globalization, since such a phenomenon has, as you mentioned earlier, both positive and negative consequences. I do not think that this is one of those processes that needs to be developed or, on the contrary, try to prevent it. This is a natural process within the 21st century. I just want to say that negative consequences can also be fought. Like for example it happened with a virus. In this case, there was a need for a quicker response to the problem. Perhaps in this case, globalization would not be to blame for this.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
No, I don’t really care about the country of origin. If the product is on the shelves of the store, then it most likely complies with the norms and standards that allow us to use certain products. It is much more important to familiarize yourself with the composition of the product. Most often I am guided by these points.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
Of the positive aspects of globalization, I would certainly highlight the formation of people's understanding that everyone on this planet is equal, this helps to develop tolerance in society towards people from different parts of the world.
Among the negative, you have noted the attenuation of the culture of individual regions. Perhaps I agree with you on this.

1. Maybe I can't imagine all aspects of globalization in a moment. If to talk about mentioned here - diseases were successful in spreading a lot of years ago. The situation is better now with healing, cause we can work together around the world on a cure. If someone in one part of the planet finds it, we can give it to a person in another part. If to talk about cultures and languages as their parts... Well, we should one day speak in one language, be one nation, live as one kind or we will die as a kind. Nationality isn't something that really describes a person but something that really divides us.

2. I care about quality and price. If they and their combination are good for me, I'll buy it. Why it should be in any other way? Moreover, strange stereotypes about China, in my honest opinion. A lot of things are made there even if they have popular American or European brand names.

3. We have a chance to become one big planet country someday in the future. If we want to survive, it's almost necessary. And if we want to spend resources on really important things, of course. And yeah, if we should leave a few hundred languages only on book pages - let it be.
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
I think the globalization is a great phenomenon, I don’t see any negative aspects of it. Moreover I find it as natural form of global development. There is some warnings like losing traditions, but I don’t think it is such a negative aspect.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
When I can I will choose our local products if the difference between price is not that big. On the other hand if the quality of product is similar and we can buy it cheaper why not? There are a lot of economic aspects of buying our local products, but in my opinion they have to give something better like for example quality.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
It is easier to provide business with global investors and develop it not only in local structures.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
The thought that instantly pops into my head - banks. Our national banks are being bought by banks from Germany/ China. In the future they will have our money and we will be simply dependent. Sounds like a fairy tale, right? Certainly it is not and globalization is truly dangerous. The only thing I like about this process is the ease of travelling (not nowadays, but in general).

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
For now I'm a poor student and I mostly look at the price/quality ratio. If the product is working well and it's from the shelf I want to choose from, then I do not mind buying it, even if it's from China.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
I wrote about them in first point.

1. Since few months now we can observe the negative aspect of globalization which is the spreading of corona virus and as history shows all global pandemics were caused by this. But it also has good points as mentioned in the post easy access to the markets or any kind of goods that we can buy from different continent. There is always god and bad side of something like this
2. I used to not pay attention where something is made, but a while ago I started to shop more wisely and by that I mean to buy only things I need but also I know that whey will last for years and I am ok with paying more for some heavy and solid wooden chopping board than for a plastic one that will be destroyed after year of using it.
3. As a negative aspect I think of fast fashion. Right now it is so easy to produce some poor quality t-shirt for example in China or India and then send it worldwide that we produce more clothes that we as people are able to wear. Instead of buying this t-shirt for 20zl in any big shop we could invest in good quality shirt from some of our local companies and this piece will last us for years.

1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
I think globalization is an inevitable stage of human evolution.
The only thing that can worry us is the transformation of the global village into antutopia known from novels and films where every aspect of human life is controlled. An example would be the scoring for being a good citizen in China and a polemic over the use of such system also in Europe. The whole idea looks like taken straight from one of the episodes of the Black Mirror series, showing the negative effects of technology from the near future.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
I have no problem buying products from China. In the past, buying more expensive items such as camera lenses or guitars designed in the USA or Japan and assembled in China could have been a quality problem.
Today, this problem is not so important.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

The first and most important profit for me is the internet and access to knowledge also from abroad, and the opportunity to cooperate with scientists from around the world.
The second most important profit for me is the ability to get along in English in tourist regions of the world and travel.
Access to any knowledge and culture allows you to look at the world around us in a different way.

1. I think it appeals me a lot. Globalization is synonymous for capabilities. Nowadays global web provide us any kind of information that we want. We can learn continuously from others through internet. Other aspects of globalization is consumption behaviors which lead to distribution of goods. We can order chinese specials and we will have them in few days.

2. I always look on quality. I don't buy bad quality national products because if don't want to provide information to them that they can do what ever they want and i always will buy it because for example it's polish food. I demand quality and if someone can't provide it, it's information that something going wrong there.

3.Bad aspect of globalizm is atheizm. In the past many things people explain by God's will. Nowadays if we don't understand something, looking in google is enought to know anything praimar about it. For sure, today human saw slightly almost everything on the Earth. Casual-past human saw maybe half of country maybe few of them.
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?

It's really appealing concept. I am cosmopolitan so I believe that the whole World is my home so i really like spreading all cultures together and gather all the bright sights of them.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

Well my shopping decisions are made in terms of brand and first of all quality - not the manufactor headquoters or factories location.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

Positives is that people are close together and they are learning the fact that every nation and every human being is good. The only sad fact about it is that f.e supporitng own economy has pretty impressive impact on the economy of the country you, your firends and family lives - so this is and aspect to f.e not buying products from foreign producers and instead buy local things but it all has positives - our local brands has more preassure to make better quality products so all in all it's also positive
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?

I think globalization is a great process. I like the idea that all world is slowly, but integrates and tries to live together, buy/sell food, exchange information and help each other. In the end, with globalization, we could achieve a lot more and quicker rather than doing by ourselves.

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?

To be honest, no. The only thing, which I care about is the quality of the product, which I am going to buy. Sometimes it could be depended on producer country, but there are a lot more factors to look.

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.

I think the biggest achievement of globalization, that you could travel to any country. Look, learn, exchange knowledge with others. See how people are living from all around the globe. Using English you could communicate in any country and be sure, that you will be understood.

1. Cultural homogeneity is bad I agree. I would like if cultures have preserved their tradition etc. But on other hand some cultures really lack respect to other cultures. For example eastern cultures, they cannot tolerate anyone who doesn't believe in Muhammad and his teachings. There are also other extremely intolerable cultures, not only muslims.

2. I don't grade a product depending on it's origin. The only products I don't tolerate in that way are those made in Russia. Because of principles .

3. I don't like entropy. Diversity is the best. There is no fun when people will share all their genes, forget their traditions, believes, languages. If you take a hundred of different bright colors and then mix them, you get brown-grayish color, not a rainbow. Do you get me?
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
Globalization does not bother me in any way, I think that thanks to this you can learn a lot of new things

2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
If the price of products is the same, I prefer to buy Polish things, but if it is lower, the country ceases no matter

3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
Positive aspect of globalization may be the desire to travel to other countries
1. What do you think about globalization? Are the negative aspects of it appealing to you?
In my opinion, globalization gives us a lot of opportunities, as was mentioned above.
2. When buying products do you care if they were made in f.e. China or would you rather buy local ones even if they are more expensive?
My choice depend on quality of the product. I'd rather buy the more expensive one, but with better quality, than the cheaper, but which will fritz in a few month. I prefer responsible consumption. If products are equal in quality I will buy the cheaper one, ,no matter which country it was made in.
3. Are there any other positive or negative aspects of globalization that you can think of? Explain your choice.
I don't think that argument about language is negative aspect. We can understand people all over the world thanks to it. Also your argument about culture is strange for me too. People just make their lives easier and more comfortable taking some usable things from other cultures, it doesn't mean that their culture is dying, it's just changing. Thanks to globalization, I have access to the newest knowledge and technologies which I'm developing thanks to globalization too.
1.I agree that globalization has a greater impact on the spread of disease, and if there were not such easy forms of travel as flying, among other things, the spread of the virus would not be on such a scale. However, I believe that there are more positive aspects of globalization than actually negative ones.
2.When I shop, I don't pay much attention to where the products were made. Nowadays, most things in the world come from China. For more expensive purchases, of course, I will choose a more expensive product than a cheaper substitute from China.
3.I think that globalization has many advantages, such as: increase in jobs, - easier access to services, - jobs for educated people who speak languages in - international companies and the possibility of economic growth also in countries with very weak economies due to the inflow of international investment. However, the only disadvantage that can have a major impact on people is the increase in unemployment in poor countries.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
