Week 9 [10.12-16.12.18] How to sleep less?

A lot of people are asking themselves, how to sleep less. I read some books and a lot of articles about it and can give you some recommendations after which you could sleep 5-6 hours and feel yourself great.

Here is a plan of this article:
  1. Basic theory about sleep
  2. Recommendations for a daily routine
  3. Struggling with insomnia

I. Basic theory about sleep
A lot of us heard that adults need to sleep 8 hours to get enough sleep. I disagree with this statement. If you meet a person, who sleeps 5-6 hours per day and it's enough for him, don't be surprised. He just has the right daily routine.

Now let's talk about sleep stages:
Stage 1 sleep
It’s when you are drowsing off, day dreaming, or “zoning out” during a boring class or lecture. I think all of us had this situation.

Stage 2 sleep
It's already when you are sleeping, but not deeply. It’s characterized by sudden bursts of the brain activity. Some scientists say that the brain “turns itself off”. Most people who are woken up out of this stage say, “I was still awake.”

Stage 3 sleep
It’s a deep sleep, the most important stage of sleep. As we enter the deep sleep, our blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate, reach their lowest point of the day. The brain and the body relax, there is the most intensive restore of the body's resources. Brain waves reach their lowest frequency.
Source: Kacper M. P. 2004. How to sleep less and have more energy than you ever had before. Page 9.
The figure above is a general example of high and low brain waves.

Stage 4 sleep
It’s rapid eye movement (REM) sleep (in this stage our eyes move very rapidly in all directions, also, we dream mostly in this stage).
Source: https://www.cozydozee.com.au/motion-sleep-good-toddler/
The sleep stages happen not only once during sleep, they happen many times.

II. Recommendations for a daily routine
  1. Stable sleep routine
  2. Every day you need to get up at the same time.
  3. Morning exercises
  4. Hard exercises that will make you sweat.
  5. More sunlight
  6. Melatonin is destroyed in the sunlight and you want to sleep less.
  7. Requires physical activity throughout the day
  8. If you can go to the gym or pool after work, it would be very good.
  9. Drink more water (about 2-3 liters per day)
  10. Don’t use: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, energetics.
  11. If you can’t, try to reduce the usage of it.
  12. If at lunch time you are sleepy, go to sleep for 20-30 minutes. But no longer than 30 minutes.
  13. The main thing is to wake up BEFORE your body enters the deep sleep stage.
III. Struggling with insomnia
  1. Use the bed only for sleeping, don’t use it for reading or working.
  2. 20 minutes before bedtime, put aside everything, sit and try to relax, free your mind.
  3. Don’t do anything before going to bed that will increase body temperature.
  4. Sleep in a chilled room.
  5. Sleep in complete darkness.
  6. And important: can't sleep - don't sleep. Go to bed later.
I hope that people who are interested in this topic found some useful information in my article and in the sources, I attached 2 books about this topic and if you want you can read them and get more information about how to sleep 5-6 hours.

Questions:
  1. Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
  2. What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?
  3. Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?

Yes, I have been interested in sleeping less and make more things in one day. This is the most typical and frequently encountered advices. But actually they are really useful. I practised 20 minute sleep in the middle of the day and it is freshen up very well. Even though I have heard that if you drink a cup of strong coffee before that break you will feel yourself much better.
This is a real problem with insomnia. If I can't sleep I am trying calm myself down by listening music or if this isn't work I try to do something. And then try one more time.
Well, I did not have an insomnia for a very long time. In fact, I only remember having troubles with sleep ever is when I was a kid. But one thing I am certain about, I tried this many times always with the same result -- do not sleep during the day. No matter how exausted you are. For some weird reason, even if I do not proceed farther than a first stage of sleep, after I wake up I am screwed for the rest of the day. I am almost feeling sick with headache and feel bloaty. Trust me, I have tried this a lot with different approaches -- nope. Daydreaming seems to not be for everyone.

Of course I was thinking about sleeping less - I want to get the best of my day! :)
Good job with the article, it contains only usefull information. I know your techinques cause I'm using it on daily basis - lerning them helps me a lot. The only recomendation I could add is "buy comfy mattress(or bed in general)" cause as we know it directly helps our body to rest. As far as insomnia are concerned I would recoment to you finding the best position of your body to fall asleep and stict to it - it worked for me -> my technique is to lay on my back with little rotation to the left side(head also directed left) -> as we all know, we're tend to switching position to find the best one to fall asleep, why make one and use it every night? Good article, I like it!
Yes, ofcource ! Just a thought that 1/3 of day, which is roughly 1/3 of whole life, doesn't sound nice.
I guess all of your recommendations for daily routine are reasonable. But the most difficult one is the last one. Indeed, when I oversleep those 30 min of day nap it turns to a disaster. When I sleep 2-3 hours during during a day then there are 90% that I won't be able to fall asleep in the evening.
Most time when I have insomnia, I'm trying to play some chill music and think a bit about things which worries me.

1.Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
I think a lot of people were interested, to sleep less and do more,I'm no exception.

2.What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?
I've tried a lot of things to reduce my sleep from 10-12 hours to 7-8. Sleep interval, Sleep 20 minutes every 3 hours. I was prescribed a set of pills, only then I was able to sleep.

3.Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
I've had insomnia for many years. To avoid getting used to the pills, I try to drink pills on herbs. The gym helps me sleep, or melatonin in pills.

PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW HIS RECOMMENDATIONS!
It is very unfortunate but the author of that post obviously lacks basic knowledge about personal health. I agree that sometimes it’s necessary to wake up earlier and it certainly is not unhealthy thing to do from time to time. But if you’re going to stick to that for a long period of time you risk VERY SERIOUS HEALTH CONSEQUENCES that you have to bear in mind! Sleep deprivation can lead to cardiovascular diseases, increased blood pressure and sugar level, uncontrolled release of hormone production (like growth and testosterone hormone) which increases risk of cancer, increased release of insulin which may lead to diabetes, risk of having Parkinson, Alzheimer and much more. Note that during 5-6 hour sleep your organism won’t clean neurotoxins that are produced by your brain daily. Everyone in age of 18-65 should sleep between 7-9hours to be healthy and optimal.
No, I don't want to sleep less because sleeping less than 7-9 hours a day badly affects your health! Please before writing such article read at least few scientific works about it.
When it comes to daily routine I would add eating healthy meals which will contain many vitamins and minerals. Also, we should remember about consuming the proper amount of fruits and vegetables daily. What is also important is that when you are mainly sitting during a day it is compulsory to take a lot of breaks to stretch your spine and let your eyes rest from for example computer monitor.
I have never had insomnia. I think when you are tired after a whole day of work then it is not hard to fall sleep quickly :)
I like sleeping, therefore I am usually not interested in sleeping less, actually I always try to sleep as long as possible. Unfortunately, I have to perform certain activities like going to work or studying, so I have to limit my sleep time.
I am afraid that i have to disagree with these recommendations for daily routine. As I know, human needs approximately 8 hours of sleep per day. Of course, sometimes people can sleep less however it is extremely unhealthy in long period of time. Especially, advice “And important: can't sleep - don't sleep. Go to bed later”, I have read that most healthy and valuable sleep is more or less before midnight.
From time to time, i have problems with falling asleep, however I am not sure if I call it real insomnia. Unfortunately, I don’t have any good method for dealing with such problems, i just stay in my bed with closed eyes and hope for sleep.
Thank you for your reply, It's basic recommendations, but all people are different and could be different effect. Maybe, after sleeping you are forgetting your dreams.
Thank you for your reply, I'm glad that my article was useful for you. I agree, it's very important to have comfy bed and find "your" position.
Thank you for your reply, the last one recommendation is not necessary. You can change it by something that helps you not to be sleepy. It’s good idea listen to music when you had insomnia, because music is relaxing.
Thank you for your reply, I'm glad that my presentation was useful for you. I didn't hear about cup of strong coffee, maybe I will try it in future. It's good idea listen to music, because music has good relaxing effect.

Thanks for posting such a concise and interesting article. Yes, I was and still am interested how to improve my performance and comfort with small amounts of sleep. For last few years, I am sleeping like 5-6 hours a day during the week and I often feel tired the next day, so I would like to improve my sleep quality.
I find these recommendations very useful and I have heard about some of them before, but I didn’t know the sunlight reduces amounts of melatonin in our body.
I have experienced insomnia couple of times in my life and what has always helped in such cases it was going outside and taking a walk.
I think that things you are saying may be right. We are not MD and we should not give ourself medical recommendations. Nowadays everyone thinks that they are some kind of health experts, because they have read something on the internet. I do not want to attack author of that text, but I'm not a fan of some kind of things.

I don't sleep more than 6 hours a day, but waking up is a drama sometimes. Once I heard about sleeping 4.5 hours during the night and two 15 minutes power naps during the day. It didn't work. Your recommendations are okay but some of them are hard to keep every day. I think I have never had insomnia. I have the biggest problems with sleeping when I'm jetlagged and sometimes it takes me even a week to go back to my sleeping routine. Sleeping problems are one of the worst in my opinion.
Foodocado said…
I would love to sleep more! Usually, I sleep about 6 hours during the night and I think it's too short. As a result, I am tired during the day. Recently, I discovered a fantastic app which in general allows setting alarms. However, it measures the sleep cycles and only wakes you up when you are in the right one. This approach ensures, that you will not have any problems with waking up. I've checked it and can recommend this app - it's called 'sleep cycle'.

I've never had insomnia. I do not have any sleeping problems.
Thank you for your reply, maybe it's not good idea to drink a pill, but if you have consulted a doctor then everything is ok. To my mind gym is better choice, but maybe you don't have always time to it.

Sometimes I have a period when I want to sleep more, and sometimes I prefer to get up early and do a few things to have time for other things. Just as he prefers to get up earlier to work and have more time in the afternoon. Daily routine for me is tiring that's why I try to make each day different. Due to the fact that I have intensive days, I never have a problem with falling asleep

Unfortunately, I do not sleep too much, I would rather add a few hours to sleep than to take.
I am very much for this, it is a perfect plan for me and my body.
I have never had problems with it, but if I ever had something like that, I would definitely set aside coffee and energy and start to eat more sugars.
Thank you for your reply, https://blog.bulletproof.com/sleep-hacking-1-million-people-prove-sleeping-5-hours-is-healther-than-sleeping-8-hours/ here you will find some researches about this topic. But it's your opinion and you don't need to agree with me. To my mind, you always need to try something new, to get your own experience also you can undergo a medical examination before and after the experiment and then decide it's healthy for you or not.
Thank you for your reply, https://blog.bulletproof.com/sleep-hacking-1-million-people-prove-sleeping-5-hours-is-healther-than-sleeping-8-hours/ here you will find some researches about this topic. And not for all people sleeping around 5-6 hours will have a negative impact on health. I agree, healthy eating always will be useful. About insomnia, some people have problems with it and even if they will be tired, they can't to fall asleep and only doctor can help them to solve this problem.

Yes, when I was interested in this topic, but having tried to reduce the sleep time, I realized that this was impossible. I need to sleep for 7 hours to feel awake, so I control the sleep time but do not reduce it.
This article is written more than I knew. I would argue with the fact that you can not drink coffee, because I know that it does not affect sleep if you drink it 10 hours before sleep. I can recommend sleeping on your back, it allows you to sleep well due to proper blood circulation.
No, I do not suffer from insomnia, because I get up early and spend all my strength for the whole day. I go to bed on time and tired, so I have a good sleep.
Marcin Mróz said…
Definitely not, I would rather search for a way to sleep more than to sleep less as I hate to be sleepy. I can stand sleeping less than 7 hours from time to time, but not on the daily basis. I'm just tired during the day and I think that this additional 1-2 hours of the day aren't worth that.
I think that the most important thing is physical activity - if you stay active, you just have more energy.
I struggled from insomnia during some stressful era of my life. I just couldn't stop thinking about some things and that didn't let me fall asleep.
Thank you for your reply, I like sleep as long as possible, but on the other hand you waste a lot of time. About sleep more or less before midnight, to my mind people have different organism and organism adapts over time to the person life cycle.
Thank you for your reply, I am glad that my article was interesting to you. I don't know what to recommend in such situation, maybe you need to try to go to bed earlier. It's good idea to go outside before going to bed.
Thank you for your reply, I think a lot of us know, sometimes it's hard to get up from bed. You can try several days before your trip, gradually adjust your sleeping habits to the time zone of your destination, this can help you.
Thank you for your reply, someone wants to sleep less, someone wants to sleep more, people are very different :) I have heard about such apps and think they can be very useful. Thank you for sharing this app.
Thank you for your reply, the main thing that you feel yourself good. But a lot of people prefer to have some daily routine and repeat it, also for your body it's easier, get used to daily routine.
Thank you for your reply, it's very interesting approach how to struggle insomnia. But I'm not sure that it will helps you.

No, I haven't been interested in sleeping less. I love sleeping and i think it's the most important activity of the day. Going to sleep late doesn't also make any difference to me. In fact, it doesn't even help if you go to sleep earlier. However sleeping too much is also not healthy, it makes me feel lazier and it's harder to follow your daily routine if you sleep too much. I think 8 hours is a perfect period of time for our brains to regenerate fully.
I've never had insomnia in my life and i think it's caused by stress and burn-out of your organism.
Thank you for your reply, for example I can drink coffee before I go to sleep and I will don't have problems with sleep, I think coffee has different effect on different people. I heard that sleeping in your back is better, but for some reasons I am sleeping on my back very rarely, for me this position often uncomfortable.
Thank you for your reply, it's everyone's choice, most important thing that your daily routine bring pleasure to you. Physical activity and healthy eating are very important things in our lives.
Thank you for your reply, I agree with you that sleeping to much is not healthy. But I think different persons have different perfect amount of time to sleep.

I often try to go to sleep early and get up more often, but it is very difficult for me. I have a deregulated biological clock and I go to sleep in the morning and get up in the afternoon. I hope that when I will start working it will change.

The recommendations that you described in the article simply concern a healthy lifestyle. You should always follow the recommendations and you will definitely feel better.

Insomnia never caught me longer. Only by a deregulated biological clock sometimes I can not fall asleep and only after many hours of trying.

I'm sleeping around 7.5 hours each day (+/- 0.5 hours) and I think I'm good with this. I know people sometimes view sleep as a wasted time - after all, we sleep about 1/3 of our life. But sleep is important for our brains. And our brains are important for us. So I don't mind to sleep 8 hours per day - if this keeps my brain healthy.
I like your recommendation for daily routine though. I found that too much variety in my wake up and fall asleep hours isn't good for me. It's better to just pick an earlier hour and wake up at the same time each day then to have various hours to wake up each day. The same with falling asleep - if I pick some time for it, I try to stick with it. So at a certain hour, I just get sleepy.
But of course it's not easy - we have night event and late parties. Or we have to finish some work late at night. Also, it's sometimes hard to go to sleep because it's so quiet and finally I have time just for myself. So yes, sticking to the routine is important, but not always easy.

I don't like to sleep to much but I haven't been interested in sleeping less. I always try to sleep for 5-6 hours and it's perfect for me and my body because I have power for a whole day. To be honest, I have never heard about "daily routine" but these rules are describing my 'normal' day. Ok, I can't go to sleep during the day but as you write it's not necessary (only if person is sleepy). What about my suggestions? I'm not sure that can help with our sleep but I'm taking some pills every morning (Vitamin C and D). What do you think about that?
No, I have never had insomnia but my friends do. It's very strange situation because you want to take a rest by sleep and you can't. I know that I can live without sleep for 20 hours but it's hard and I always have to equalize my sleep time after that.
I guess every student had episode with sleeping less, especially durring exams. After all, i can't stand idea of sleeping just 3-5 hours per day everyday. Every weekend i have to regenerate and then i'm sleeping as long as i can. Routine is fine untill you HAVE to break it. Then you might be in trouble. I never had insomnia, i'm having difficulties with sleeping but it takes me up to 1h. So nothing really problematic

Sleep is an inseparable part of our life's plan, if our bodies need rest, signs of tiredness make us sleepy. According to a study published several months ago, it was announced that sleeping at other times of the day would compensate for the lack of sleep at night.Sleeping less affects our body, we can change the habits of our sleep program.
I think sleep is good enough for the body, depending on the type of activity we are doing, the body needs to recover, sometimes 5 hours of sleep, sometimes 10 hours.

start by closing your eyes (who would have thought?!) and taking deep, slow breaths. Start to consciously relax all the muscles in your face – from your forehead to your eyes to your jaw – all the way down to your neck, shoulders, arms and legs, hands and feet.
After another 10 or so seconds of deep, slow breathing, picture your happy place – the book’s author suggests lying in a canoe on a calm lake with blue sky above you, or a black velvet hammock (strangely specific, but okay) in a pitch-black room.
If that fails, you’re supposed to say ‘don’t think’ over and over to yourself for 10 seconds.

1. Yes, it is always a struggle to find enough time during a day to do everything I've planned and also have a sufficient amount of sleep. In most cases you have to choose one or the other.

2. Those are all great recommendations. I found during my previous full-time job that the stable sleep routine is quite important if you want to sleep less and still have energy to do anything during the day.

3. No, I've never had insomnia.
Thank you for your reply, to my mind you need to try go to bed and wake up every day at the same time. Then your body will get used to it and you will feel yourself better.
Thank you for your reply, I agree with you that sticking to the routine is difficult. But you can get some useful things from it. Maybe you should find a daily routine which will be good for you.
Thank you for your reply, about pills, it's good but if you can replace them by products, would be better. For example, 100 grams salmon contains 75% of daily norm of vitamin D. Vitamin C contains in a lot of fruits.

I've definitely been interested in sleeping less and I've heard about the points presented here before. I do think that all of these recommendations make perfect sense - unfortunately, however, for various reasons implementing them can end up being a bit difficult in practice depending on a variety of factors. As for suggestions, if you need to move your sleep schedule, try to do so in small steps - it isn't easy to suddenly start sleeping at different times, but if you move your schedule slowly, by about 30 minutes per day at most, you will have a much easier time.

I do have insomnia right now, in fact - it's been caused by the fact that I needed to wake up and go to sleep at varying times each day, and it's been haunting me for weeks, but I'm slowly recovering back to a normal state.
Thank you for your reply, I agree with you, it's difficult to start it from the beginning, but after you have to break routine, then you will need a few days to return all as was.

I think everybody dreamed about getting more hours during the day. Not necessarily by removeing sleep from day :P, more like 26 hours instead of 24 but it might be the best option for now.
Getting up and going to sleep in the same hours is the best practice for me. It works perfectly. You know how much time you have. maybe getting rid of nicotine was also a good idea.
Well I love to sleep so insomnia isn’t one of my problems

I’m already sleeping less that a normal person should sleep. Unfortunately. The topic that I was always really interested in - how to sleep less and don’t feel like crap at the same time.
About recommendation for a daily routine - they sounds impossible for me. It’s impossible to get up at the same time, it’s even more impossible to get more sunlight, because this country is sad and cold :) And I love coffee. And I can’t drink more than 1-1,5 l of water everyday.
I’ve never had insomnia. I have different problem - I’m always sleepy and sometimes it’s really hard to deal with it.

Every now and then I sleep for only a few hours of the day in order to study for tests. It happens so that this behaviour deregulates my sleeping habits and I end up nocturnal.

Have something you do everytime before you head to bed. Something small that after some time will subconciously make you think of sleep and get sleepy.

I'm dealing with chronic insomnia, once in a while it grabs me unexpected and requires me to have a night where I pull an allnighter so that the next day I sleep like a baby.
I do actually sleep less but next day I am tired as hell so i guess its not the point of this presentation :D
I love sleeping so I think I wouldn't give up even 15 minutes.
I've heard that working out before sleeping helps you to fall asleep and the sleep is better, there is an App called sleep cycle, it measure sleep quality and helps to improve it.
I have heard about insomnia, I am aware that going to bed very late can cause to insomnia later but I hope it won't happen to me.
1.Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
I constantly think about it. I sorely lack time. I would prefer not to sleep at all.

2.What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?

I try to go to bed until 12 p.m. Many studies say that from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. a person has the deepest sleep and mostly resting. And it is tested in practice. If you go to bed at 11 p.m. there is absolutely no problem for the morning to wake up at 6 a.m. The body becomes accustomed and wakes up even before the alarm clock.

3.Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
Glory to the god I have never had insomnia. I think it is very scary. And I am sorry for the people who have it.

1. Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
Ohhh yes! I really love sleep but I think that 8 hours a day is waaaaaay to much. It's basicly 1/3 of a day, it means that you could use this time to work / enjoy life even more.
2. What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?
"
If at lunch time you are sleepy, go to sleep for 20-30 minutes. But no longer than 30 minutes." basicly it's worst idea ever. I cannot imagine myself sleeping in office during work, not in Poland :D In Japan it would be doable :p
3. Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
I basicly struggle to it when I have a lot to do, many resposibilities, a lot to do at studies, work, home, whn I'm ill. I think that's normal for 3/4 of the population so never though of it as something as illness.

I struggle from insomnia from time to time usually when stressfull situations happen in my life. Usually I sleep around 5h from Monday to Friday, sometimes even shorter and on weekend I need to sleep definitely longer to load my batteries ;) When exams are coming I sleep even less and I see consequences of lack of sleep in my health condition during that time. I would like to learn how to be more rested even with lack of sleep.

1. I am not sure because I like sleeping but this article was interesting and maybe I will try some advices how to reduce time which I need to be rested.

2. I can't help you because from few months when I started combined working and studying I am still sleepy and I don't know how to deal with it. I can't wake up every day even after 3 alarm clocks.

3. I have had insomnia but it was only caused by too much coffeine so solution was easy - cut off coffee and it returns to normal.

Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
Yes, of course, this is a hot topic for me today. The 21st century requires more productivity from people, and I am not an exception. Therefore, I try to sleep less, but do it without harm to the body.

What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?
I think you made the main recommendations, and if you follow them, you can achieve the desired result.

Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
Fortunately, this did not happen to me.

For some time now for me naps are normal - only that they last for 40 minutes. I work on my dream to last less. Less sleep and more hours during the day is what I would like to strive for.
These recommendations which I read today, I must honestly say that I didn't know them before and I will definitely want to apply some of them. Unfortunately, I don't have my own suggestions on this topic.
Sometimes insomnia happens to me. This is terribly annoying and I have to fight with it, I hope that if I step into these councils, it will help me somehow.

1. Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
- Of course, I do every time I have an exam or I have to finish a project.
2. What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?
- I like the recommendations, I will try to stable my sleep routine, drink more water and reduce the amount of caffeine.
3. Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
- I had insomnia ones and my solution is to hit a gym or go for a walk to calm your mind.
I enjoyed your article because I thought about sleeping a lot. The thing is I don’t require a lot of sleep to function just fine. Truth be told during my high school I could sleep even less then now but still If I get 5-6 hours of sleep its perfectly enough for me. So answering to your first question I am not that much interested in sleeping less because I’m already doing it. I think that recommendations that you gave for a daily routine are good and accurate, but I have to say that I’m not really following them in my life and I don’t need so much sleep. But I guess it all depends on person and everybody is different. I can gladly say that I never had insomnia and I hope I will never get it. I talked to few people who had It and it is really nasty disease to have.
Adding more hours to the day can be very helpful, especially during intensive learning days or long working meetings. If you could sleep less, and won’t be tired next day, that’s great option.
In my opinion those recommendations are awesome. I have never been interested in this topic, so I can’t point any other suggestions, my daily routines are very various.
Fortunately, I have never had insomnia, sometimes I had a little problem with fall asleep but chilled room works amazing for me.

Of course that I was interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day.
I will try it and I suggest to try scheduling your day.
I have never had insomnia.
1. Of course! I still think that 24 hours per day is not enough..
2. The recommendations are pretty simple and well known but... are also great! I've always forgetting about such things like "wake up at the same time every day" and so on. Would definitely try the routine.
3. I'm enough happy to not have any problems with sleep (only with getting out of bed) .

Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?
Sure, I heard a lot of ways to decrease sleeping time, but tons of them was just stupid and not worth efforts. In the other hand, your 'advices' are pretty interesting. I didn't hear about this ways before.

Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?
Nah, never. Generally, I'm sleeping very well, I didn't have any problems with my sleep yet. Of course, it pertain to situations, when I have time to sleep. In week I have problem with finding some time for calm sleep.

Have you ever been interested in sleeping less and adding more hours to the day?

Of course I had. I'm always trying to do as much as possible during the day, but the other thing is - I love sleeping :). I'm trying to balance it. During the week I sleep between 7-8 hours and on the weekend I'm sleeping as much as I need, but I'm waking up not later than 10am.

What do you think about recommendations for your daily routine? Maybe you have your own suggestions about it?

I'm doing few things that you recommended, for example I drink a lot of water, or when I'm sleepy I do some "power naps" etc.

Have you ever had insomnia? If yes, how did you struggle with it?

Nope, I don't have any problems with sleeping :).

Thank you for this article, really cool!

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
