I am nearly 100% sure that you’ve heard about virtual reality – maybe you’ve experienced it by yourself, or you saw it somewhere. I would like to introduce you into VR history and popular goggles
First of all – what is Virtual Reality? By Wikipedia definition:
Virtual reality (VR) is an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. It incorporates mainly auditory and visual feedback, but may also allow other types of sensory feedback like haptic.
From my point of view VR is the new way of entertainment. You can watch movies and feel like you are the main actor, you can travel to almost everywhere or you can just play video games feeling like the game is your life.
The first VR goggles were patented in 1960 by Morton Heilig – they were very similar to the newest ones! You could watch picture on them like normal television, and they even had stereo sound. Obviously they didn’t have any motion tracking.
In 1968 Ivan Sutherland and his student Bob Sproull introduced Sword of Damocles – the first VR head mounted display that was connected to the computer, not to camera like the other ones. Although the graphics was very primitive – it was a huge step forward.
In 1993 SEGA announced their VR glasses – they were meant for Sega Genesis console. At that time they were quite “high end” – head tracking, stereo sound and LCD screens sounded like something crazy in 1993. Also, the price was not that high – about 200$ at that time, or about 322$ in current money. However, the technical development issues made them stay a prototype.
Modern
times
Today technology is way better, and we have 3
most popular VR goggles. The first of them are called Oculus Rift. The idea was
born in Palmers Luckey head in 2012, as he wanted to make funds on Kickstarter.
The campaign lasted 3 months, and they raised about 2.5 million dollars. Whoa. The next popular goggles are called HTC Vive – they were developed by HTC and Valve Corporation in 2016. The main difference between the first model of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive was that Vive had controllers included.
And last, but not least – PS VR introduced in 2016. They’re one of the cheapest VR goggles that you can get for video games, but you need PS4 system to run them.

In my opinion, VR will go so far and it will be so popular that all our free time will be mostly spent on VR and our second life will be on the internet.
It seems to me that one day VR will be so popular - that everyone will have such a set like today people have TVs at home.
Yes, I tried to play them a beta version of the game Resident Evil 7 at the exhibition. It was still 2016, since then many improved analogs have appeared.
2.What do you think about that technology? in 2010, many could not imagine what it would be, it's really a big breakthrough, now even learn to fly a simulator with VR glasses.
3.Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
A lot of people like to play different games, simulators, mmorpg and many simply will live in virtual reality, such as in Ready Player One.
But there is at least one problem with VR which will not be easily fixed with current technology, even if it gets cheaper. The way our eyes work. When we want to see something far away from us, our eyes try to focus on it. But the screen in VR is always at the same distance, so it must refocus back on it. This way our eyes are strained when we are using VR for too long.
What I really wait for is to connect our nervous system directly to a computer. This would be a total game changer - and VR will be like in "Matrix". That's the future, not some clunky goggles.
I think Augmented Reality has more potential in entertainment and utility. But not in the form we know it today, that is through a smartphone or tablet. When some company eventually comes up with actually usable AR glasses, it would be a game-changer (no pun intended).
Looking Ahead the future of VR for business use looks very promising. There are already businesses out there making their first move into VR technology (i.e., Facebook & Oculus VR), but it’s still a long way for it to be fully embraced by the masses. But as VR technology evolves, it’ll not be long for organizations to do their businesses in the virtual world.
Yes, in my opinion, Google VR Glasses can be one of the upcoming hobbies.
Yes, I do have some cheap glasses (or even lenses) at home, in which you can put your phone and play some apps or watch videos in virtual reality. I found this kind of entertainment fun at the beginning, but I have changed my mind when I started to get headaches after longer use.
What do you think about that technology?
I think it is very futuristic and innovative technology. Combining technology with our perception, simultaneously projecting our reality comes with a lot of possibilities to me. Not only we can have fun visiting other countries from our home or playing tenis with our friends not being next to each other at the moment, but we also can enhance our skills by making a lot errors in virtual reality, so we do not make them in reality. We can also get creative and invent some new things effortlessly, as we are not spending real money and resources on prototypes and testing real products.
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
In my opinion VR we currently is just a beginning and it will be developed for a long time. Maybe one day, except the vision, we will be able to smell and feel and taste virtual world around us, so it would be hard to distinguish between what is real and what is not. This is what I imagine as a future of VR entertainment.
In my opinion it’s a great technology. It can make you feel in a different place and it’s cool. One more usage of this technology is 3D modelling, I think artists can better see what they do in VR either than on computer screen.
Yes, it’s for sure future of entertainment.
VR as technology have a lot to improve in upcoming years. Right now its kind of a gimmick. Of course it will improve and than it might become a part of our dayly life.
VR googles of the future might not only be source of your entertainment. That might be also a replacement for standard screens at work.
I like that technology, but it is quite exhausting to use it more than 2 hours.
Also I think that you need some time to set up gear, and need, a lot of space.
That is why i don't think virtual reality will be future. It's too expensive, and it takes time to set up for playing. On console you can just start game and play it.
Yes. I had the second version of oculus for a month. I have played some racing game and VR demos but they were giving me a headache.
What do you think about that technology?
It is great entertainment but it suffers because a lot of people feel dizzy after 15min of using it. But I've also heard that with newer iterations it had gotten better
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
I think they are a part of it
I think this technology is a future. Playing games with VR googles „puts” us inside it. The feeling of being a part of the game rather than just staring at the screen in front of the player takes the industry to the whole new level.
In my opinion VR googles are the future of entertainment and as long as I don’t imagine a family meeting in googles, I can imagine how playing games will look like in a few years.
This technology is interesting and promising, however it’s still requiring more work on it.
I think VR goggles are the part of the future of entertainment, but along with the headset, there will be another parts for hands and legs to simplify player movements in the game.
This technology have a lot of potential in the future. I hope that this technology will be cheaper in the future.
Of course yes but it must be cheaper.
No, however I'm looking forward to this technology. And I will buy a set when it will be much better
What do you think about that technology?
Very promising, we are getting closer and closer to the matrix
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
Yes, and we didn't stopped yet. There are more things like:
Full FOV
Retina resolution
No SDE
Super lightweight, like simple glasses or even contact lenses
Full body tracking
Full body haptic feedback and resistance gloves for picking up objects
Wireless
Yes, i think it may be a future of entertainment, it still needs some improvements but with todays technology I think in near future everyone would have theirs own gear.
What do you think about that technology? As I said, VR is too expensive gadget for daily use. I think it can be good for place where are a lot people.
Hmm, I don't think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment. I have heard about it but I don't think so. They are to massive!
2. It's hard to tell since I haven't experienced it personally, but I've heard different opinions on that topic. Most of them are positive, but some people claim that it is very limited and it is still far from the full immersion that some hope to achieve when playing video games.
3. At the moment VR seems to be very limited so I don’t think it will be the future of entertainment. Although I may change my mind once I will have an opportunity to use them.
2. That's kind of entertainment is awesome! It's quite expensive to buy it on our own but you can go to VR clubs and try it there. After 2 hours I had a little headache but it's shows that you shouldn't play too long.
3. I think that it is a future of entertainment. I don't think that it will replace computer games or TVs but it is another interesting way of spending your free time and I think that this kind of entertainment will stay with us.
Yes, I've tried some goggles for an smartphone and I didn't like it at all. The experience wasn't even pleasant or interesting. Moreover it was boring and troublesome.
What do you think about that technology?
I have to try some videogames at least to make up my mind about the whole technology. All I can say right now that I am sceptical because of my previous experience with smartphone goggles.
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
In my opinion they aren't. They are popular right now and they are still being advertised but only a small percentage of players use them. This is not beacause of the cost but the feelings and habits.
No doubts, this technology is great and has a bright future. Goggles will become cheaper and will get a high screen resolution. VR goggles will be used not only in sphere of entertainment but in Medicine, Architecture and other industries.
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
I think, VR is not for everyone, but overall it's the future of entertainment. Even now, there are a lot of "VR stands" in malls and entertainment centers where you can experience virtual reality via games.
Yes, I have experience using VR. I even tried many different models. Definitely, the models that work with the phone are just awful. Probably, using them does not only make the cosmonauts feel bad.
What do you think about that technology?
This technology is great. Definitely, it conquered many hearts. This is a big leap forward in the entertainment industry. Over time, more and more VR games and movies will come out. But unfortunately, at the moment, it is not profitable for manufacturers to create games because very few people buy VR glasses. And accordingly, such an expensive product makes no sense to buy until more VR games are released.
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
Yes, I think VR technology is the future of the entertainment industry. I really hope for the development of this industry, maybe we will even meet the technology of total immersion before we get old.
out of all the problems VR is currently suffering from only one stays unsolved. We are making leaps in making this technology widely aviable and easy to use for everyone.
When it comes to "waht i mean saying THE future" i mean it, VR its gonna be the future of : marketing, advertising, design, 3D modeling, simulations, teaching, entertainment, chemistry and surgery equipment, those were couple from the top of my head.
- Unfortunatly no, but I have to give it a try one day.
2. What do you think about that technology?
- It is cool from a gaming perspctive but in my opinion it is too expensive right now.
3. Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
- It is hard to say, I know that some people feel sick when they play.
What do you think about that technology?
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
1. Yes, I sometimes visit different VR clubs to have a fun time with friends.
2. It's awesome, but isn't complete yet. I think it will take a couple of years to make it better and cheaper.
3. Not quite. Nowadays this technology is used mainly in games or drone controlling. But in future there can be more serious use cases.
I think in the next 10-20 years it will revolutionize many industries. Now harder is a bit too expensive, so there are not that many potential buyers. However in the future when this technology will become a casual one, I think it will have a huge impact on our lives.
For sure they will play their role in the future of entertainment, but I don't think they are the future. Why? Wearing them, we still feel that we are in our room. I'd say that the future of entertainment lies in complete dive into a different world. So something that we will put to our mind and it will transfer us to an artificial world.
I am thinking of buying PlayStation VR because I want to watch some movies like Star Wars with it. I am also considering buying HTC Vive but this one is really expensive.
I don't think so that VR goggles are the future of entertainment. They are just one step forward but nothing more.
Unfortunately, no :(
* What do you think about that technology?
I really love this technology, because I have several ideas on how to connect it with the stuff that I’m doing. But overall I think that this technology has a wide spectrum of using in many fields. I think it could be used not only in entertainment purpose.
* Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
I think that VR goggles will be one of the kinds of the future of entertainment, but not the only one.
I have been once in VR room. There was many VR goggles, Oculus, HTC Vive and Playstation VR.
What do you think about that technology?
I think that this technology need more time to be more effective. Now we can only experience a poor beginning of this technology.
Do you think that VR goggles are the future of entertainment?
I think that entertainment is the best area for VR goggles, especially games.
