Week 11 [14-20.01.19] "Bionics" in life

Nowadays, technology is developing extremely fast. We are witnesses of amazing things. One of the technology paths is definitely bionics, which is already quite a broad concept. This is an amazing thing for people with disabilities that can improve their lives. Watch the video below which will explain this concept.

Questions:

1. Do you think that this technology will be able to replace the real "human limbs" in 100%?
2. Do you think that people with, for example "bionics legs" should compete with people with normal legs in running competitions?
3.How do you imagine the development of this technology in the future?

1. Half-way there, now they should add ability to feel like a real human.

2. Now they can, but what if those bionics legs are going to be more efficient?

3. It can lead to healthy people replacing their real human limbs with highly effective and powerfull equivalents

1. Do you think that this technology will be able to replace the real "human limbs" in 100%?
Yes, I think they will. Moreover I think that someday bionics will be more efficient than human limbs, so it would be more than 100%.

2. Do you think that people with, for example "bionics legs" should compete with people with normal legs in running competitions?
In my opinion there should be separated competitions for people with bionics parts. Some kind of competition like today's paralympics for disabled people.

3.How do you imagine the development of this technology in the future?
I am afraid that this technology will develop so much that people would like to change their natural parts to bionic one on request. This is one of those dark scenarios when technology enters to our lives too much.

I think these technologies can replace the function which should be executed, but it won't bring the attitude that people have. By this I mean: how good would not be developed, the industry, I hope that in a healthy person will not get the idea to make a super cyborg. I see that now we have a large development in this industry, and probably still ahead.
About competitions it's hard to say. All depends on the capabilities of the bionic leg, it might be logical to arrange a competition between equal rivals.

Thanks for the comment, I also think that in the future they can give a big advantage

Thanks for comment, separated competitions - I think is good soultion.

Thanks for comment.
In my opinion technology will be able not only limbs, but most parts of our bodies in much more than 100%, it is only matter of time. I think that with current advancement in robotics, electronics, computer science and materials this will happen quite fast. Right now, this technology helps disabled people, but when it will start giving more possibilities than normal body parts many people will use it.
It is hard to say if people with bionics legs should compete with people with normal legs. Such bionic limbs are more or less parts of their bodies. On the other hand these artificial parts are developed by science and technology, they can be carefully design to give best results in running for example, whereas normal legs must perform all normal activities (if something is good for everything it won’t be best in single category). What is more, if such bionic limbs have their own engines, it is a little bit unfair in my opinion.
I imagine that in case of bionic parts and augmentations, world might become similar to the world from DeusEx games series. In this game, advance augmentations are very popular, people have artificial limbs, eyes and even implants in their brains.
I am actually geuenley anticipating that day when a person will be completely replaced by a machine. It will be a new step towards better society. All organic matter seems so obsolete now, when we have composed way more durable and overall better materials.

Well, I think no-one would like to lose his or her leg or arm to mount a technical replacement. But for people that lost a limb i.e. in a crash, it changes everything.
According to the second question I think that there’s no problem, as long as their bionics legs don’t make them superhumans running like gepards.
There are prototypes of bionic arms these days that respond to human minds, but they are actually far from working like real humans arm. I think that thanks to the technological progress, it’s not a long of time that it will work more natural.
I think that in future we could replace some human limbs with artificial or breed new one.
For me people that have bionics legs shouldn't compete with people with normal legs
like it was with Oscar Pistorius. It can give advantage and such people should compete with each other.
For me it will develop slow, but in 20 or 30 years we should have robotics arms and legs but i think this still will be tested and not common. Maybe in 100 years.
Of course yes. I agree with the speaker in everything. I also believe that technology can not only replace, but also improve our capabilities. In the future, you will not be sure where the bionic are and where the normal legs are :) And, as I said, bionic legs allow the wearer to do more with their own legs, for example. I think this is great.

Yes definitely.
I think no because for example bionic legs can be a lot of better than normal legs. This is something like if some people go to the run competition on motorbike or car.
I think in the future there will be two type of replace real human libs. The first of course robotics arms/legs and so on and it will be in few endurance stages normal/police/military. The second it will be created by cultured cells by client DNA limbs.
It could be real with time, first for this need technology and then there are a few complicated things in this, scientists need to reproduce all nerves and connect them to the patient's nerves and then convince the brain that it's his own limb:) it's only my theory. This depends on the factor if bionic limb gives this person some advantages, if yes then this person shouldn't compete with normal people, because it will be unfair. I can only say that these bionic limbs should looks like normal limbs, then for patients will be easier used to it.

1. I think that it is highly possible and even maybe in the nearest future scientists improve this technology so much that this bionic limbs would be more efficient that the real one.
2. I don't think so because as I already said - it is highly possible that bionics legs would be better in running than the real one.
3. It's hard to say because I didn't think a lot about this case but in fact - and who knows maybe we will prefer change our real limbs to artificial which could be e.g. stronger?
1. Do you think that this technology will be able to replace the real "human limbs" in 100%?
Someday maybe. Definitely not in next 30 years though. We have to remember that our bodies are really complex. It is really hard to replicate it using technology.
2. Do you think that people with, for example "bionics legs" should compete with people with normal legs in running competitions?
I think they shouldn't. They should have their own competitions if they want to but certainly they shouldn't compete with people that have normal legs. It is simply unfair. At least from my point of view. As I said human body is quite complex but often it is easily damaged or gets tired quite fast. People with bionic legs would get an unfair advantage over those with normal ones.
3.How do you imagine the development of this technology in the future?
Hopefully someday we will be able to help some people that lost her limbs in accidents or were born without them. I think that it is awesome that some people get a chance to walk again thanks to bionic legs. I can't imagine living without ability to walk, it must be really hard. What I am afraid of is that this technology might be developed in other sectors, like for example military, and used for combat.
I think that most of our limbs will become more an more robotic over time.
As for now i dont think we ll replace all of our limbs with bionics anytime soon.
When it comes to competition and especially sports, its gonna require an different category for those who want to keep their bodies clean of bionics.

When it comes to closest evolution of that technology i can see (pun intended) eye being next focus of ours, they are fragile and have no real substitution as of now.

1. Do you think that this technology is able to replace the real "human limbs" in 100%?
Maybe not now but it will be possible after some time (10+ years).
2. Do you think that people with, for example, "bionics legs" should compete with people in running competitions?
It seems to me that no, currently it is not a huge problem, but in the future where bionic legs will give an advantage in speed, strength, etc., you will certainly need to organize such competitions separately.
3.How do you imagine the development of this technology in the future?
My vision will be 3d printing. Such machines will not even offer bionic hands, but will create human hands. Imprinting a new hand on the wound etc.
I think - not now. In the future for sure I think medical technology these days is does not fully developed felling of nerves, joints etc. I don't think people with bionics legs could compete with athletes on normal competitions. Thats why we have para olympics. I think in the future we would be able to even replace our legs with better one, stronger more flexible.

Thanks for comment.
Will this technology replace most of the body? Perhaps, but in my opinion, not 100%.

Thanks for comment.
Maybe, but your opinion is interesting.

Thanks for comment.
I think the same as you. This technology that for people who lost their limbs is an amazing help.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
