Week 8 [03.12-09.12.18] Water in your body

What is body water?

Body water is one of the most important measures when it comes to a healthy body. It is the bulk of fluid in a human body. If you want to keep your body in good condition, you have to supply it to your organism. The most important is good balance. You have to be careful about the right amount of fluidsbalance in your body if you want to be healthy. Good water balance can make your life better.

Why is water very important in our life?
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Moistens tissues for mouth, eyes and nose
  • Lubricates joints
  • Protects body organs and tissues
  • Helps prevent constipation
  • Reduces the burden of kidneys and liver by flushing out waste products
  • Helps dissolve minerals and other nutrients to make them accessible to the body
  • Carries nutrients and oxygen to cells

You have to remember about your daily hydration. It is not very hard because the simplest way is to drink mineral water. You don’t have to be thirsty to improve your fluid status. It’s good to drink water with your meals.

Ideal water percentage of human body

The ideal body water percentage varies. It depends on a lot of factors: gender, age, body composition and daily activity (e.g. the gym). In general, womenahave lower body percentage than men because they have more tissue. Statistically, ideal percentage for adult men will be between 50 and 60% while women about 10% less.

How much?
I mentioned some information about water in the human body and typical balance but what about daily demand? One of the most important is drinking about 250 ml after waking up because it can clean your body from toxins. During the whole day you should drink about 2 liters of water. You have to remember about fresh, raw fruits because they can help you to increase body water percentage. There are many ways to increase your body water percentage.

As you can see, you should read water labels because it is very easy to choose better water with more mineral components.

Questions:

  • How many liters of water do you drink every day?
  • Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
  • Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola?  How many liters of it do you drink every day?

I drink approximately 2,5 liters of water a day. I've never paid attention to mineral saturation, but from now on I will take a closer look at labels while buying water. I drink 'unhealthy' beverages seldomly, only when there is some special occasion, so I cannot estimate how many liters of it I drink every day.
I never actually paid attention to how much water I drink. I just do. And about the Coca-cola, its only harm actually lies within the amount of sugar it contains. A can of coke holds daily dose of it. Apart from that, any other impact is just a rumour.

It really depends on the weather because when it's hot I often drink about 2 liters of water but when it's a cold day I can drink even less than 1 liter. I’ve chosen water with high mineral saturation once and I’ve bought few bottles of Muszynianka. To be honest, I haven’t noticed any changes and didn’t feel any better so I’ve decided not to pay attention to it. Generally I like to keep my health in good shape and whenever I have choice and I’m conscious I decide to drink and eat healthy. Also sometimes I just for example feel like drinking coke and I buy the Coca Cola can and drink it but it’s rare occurrence. What’s more, my favorite is Coca Cola life and they assume that it doesn’t have sugar so it’s somehow healthy :D

I’m person who care about my health I always drink 2,5-3 liters water. I read a few books about our body what we should treat our organism. We should be careful because to much water in our body could be harmful. Preferably I choose tap water which is the healthiest scientifically based. It is the best water. Commercial distributors of drinks add to unhealthy drinks so many sugar and that’s why every drinks are unhealthy. We can choose coca-cola zero and it will be great pick if we like cola.

I drink from 4 to 6 liters of water a day. What about you?

I have never even looked on labels of water. When I saw your table I couldn't believe my eyes that it is so different. I guess I should start checking labels before buying water. I'm always checking labels on food because of kcal but yea. It was really helpful to see waters compared to each other.

I love unhealthy drinks like Sprite, Coca-cola or some juice but I don't drink it right now. I want to live healthy life so I stick to water and don't even look at sparkling drinks. What about you? Do you drink unhealthy drinks?

1.How many liters of water do you drink every day?
This depends on weather and from my activity, can be such that can not to drink water 1-2 days.

2.Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
I didn't. I pay attention to the smell of water, it often smells like a wet dog :(

3.Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
I recent years have refused to carbonated drinks, but when I have "cheat meal", allow myself. After Cola even more thirsty, because of the high sugar content, it can be 2 liters per day.

It is hard to tell how much water I drink during day, but probably not enough. Also I haven't cared about mineral saturation in water, only how it tastes. When it comes to choosing between water and sugar drinks depends on situation. During some meal I always prefer to drink something with "taste" so coca-cola or some juice. But when I am thirsty glass of water is the best choice.

How many liters of water do you drink every day?
I try to drink as much water as I can, but if we are talking numbers, the outcome value may vary from 1 to 2.5 liters per day. And by that I mean pure bottled water, not including water we consume in food we eat.
Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
I have always disliked Muszynianka for the taste, but for few months now this is the only water I drink. Provided comparison shows how much minerals are or are not in some specific brands of water and I think that if we multiply these numbers by every day a year - we may end up with some serious mineralization issues.
Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
I've almost totally stopped drinking sodas as my teeth were hurting from, probably, lack of essential minerals. The second issue is sugar, which just fills up these drinks from bottom to top. I would definitely rather to remain healthy and drink pure water than unhealthy drinks.

Our body have perfectly natural eager to sustain homeostasis. There is no need to actually drink 2l of water or what is recommended since your body might don't need it and oversaturation with water might be a problem too since it will change salt balance in your cells. As a conclusion if you drink when you feel thirsty most probably your are gonna be okay and there is no point to worry about it.

I drink a lot of water, as I noticed that I feel better when I periodically drink water during work. About a day I drank one and a half to two liters of water. I used to read in another article that drinking water during a meal is harmful. Your article says that this wouldn't.
No, I like the taste of Borjomi, but I have never been concerned about the issue of mineral richness.
I rarely drink "bad water" like a cola or sprite, most often it is tea, coffee (which is also harmful), juices and water.

I drink about 3-3.5 liters of water a day. I have never chosen a water because of its high mineral saturation. For me, water is just water. I don't care what minerals it has, it just has to be tasty. I don't like i.e. "Muszynianka" here in Poland because of its taste. I have a special jug at home which filtrates tap water for me - it's awesome. I don't have to care about buying another bottle, because I have this thing. I try not to drink unhealthy stuff like cola etc. Sometimes I just have this feeling like "Oh, I have to drink it!" but luckily it's not so often. I can say that I don't drink more than 0.5l a week, but most often it's less.
I don't really count how much litters per day I drink, but I think it is up to 1.5 - 2 litters. I can't remember myself studying bottles of mineral water and choosing the most saturated one. However, there is one brand which is something like magic. It is "borjomi". It helped me so many times when I had problems with my stomach or hangover. For the last 3-4 years I've been drinking mostly just water. I can buy coca-cola when I need to work late so it can help to be awake for few more hours due to high level of sugar.
I don't count how many litters per day I consume, but I guess it is up to 1.5-2 litters.
I can't remember a situation when I was studying mineral water bottles which one has more mineral saturation. However there is a Georgian brand which is something like magic. It is "borjomi". It helped me so many times when I had problems with my stomach or after hangover.
For the last 3-4 years I've been drinking mostly just water. Sometimes I can buy coca-cola if I need to work late. It keeps me awake for a few more hours due to high level of sugar.
To be honest I have no idea how many liters of water I drink every day. It is probably something around 2 - 2.5 liters per day, because I am often very thirsty.
Yes, I sometimes choose water which has high mineral saturation. In the summer, or when I am physically active, I prefer water like Muszynianka, because I am aware of my body needs.
In my opinion being healthy is very important, therefore it is better to drink water over drinks like coca-cola. Fortunately I like to drink tea and water. Because of that I don’t have such dilemmas like choosing between favourite drink and my health.
Marcin Mróz said…
I don't know how many liters of water I drink everyday, because I don't really count it. Apart from morning coffee and tea in the evening, water is basically the only beverage I drink on daily basis, so I can guess it could be something like 1,5 - 2 liters. I don't really like waters with high mineral saturation - I prefer Cisowianka over Muszynianka. When it comes to unhealthy drinks, I drink them only during weekends, normally I drink only water as I wrote before.

How many liter I drink every day depends on time of year. In summer I usually drink from three to four liters per day, in winter, spring and autumn I drink between one and half liter and two liters.
No, I never choose water due to its high mineral saturation. I found some producers of water which I liked and I usually buy this water if I see it in shop, if not I buy random water.
Usually I drink water, but if I really want I can buy half liter of cola, but not often(two or three times a week).

How many liters of water do you drink every day?
I drink a lot of water every day. I think I drink about 3 liters. But apart from water, I do not drink anything.
Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
No, never guided by this criterion. For me, the main thing that she was non-carbonated.
Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola?
Since I drink only water, of course, I refused harmful drinks, very rarely I allow myself.

I try to make as much water as possible, that around 2 liters, when I play sport, it's about 4 liters.
Yes, I try not to buy the worst water in the store, "Muszynianka" is definitely my favorite.
I prefer water, but sometimes you also need to drink something unhealthy, even if it's Christmas, I can not imagine it without it: D
I usually buy cole in a can, so if I drink pusze, it's all around 300ml
I read some articles about why water is important. In most cases, I agree with you. Number of liters per day depends on time of year and from my activity. At summer its around 3 liters, at winter its around 1.5 liters. I think important to drink exactly water, not juice or something else. But maybe another time I will choose water due to its high minerals, but honestly, I don't think that I will feel some difference. Most of time I drink water, but sometimes I can drink 100% juice.
I try to drink as much water as I can during the day, in the form of still water or tea. That being said, I know I still drink too little, perhaps 1 litre. I don’t count sugar bombs like coke as water consumption.

I have indeed chosen the water for its minerals many times in the past. I occasionally drink Muszynianka since it’s no secret for me that it has the most of them. However, I don’t like sparkling water and anything that remotely tastes alike. Since Muszynianka contains a very high amount of bicarbonates, it falls into that category, so I don’t drink it very often. Instead, the water that I’m drinking the most is Cisowianka.

Your third questions is a little bit silly as I don’t expect anyone to answer they want to be unhealthy. ;) Personally, I like drinking water and I definitely drink it more than any other fluid. The only „unhealthy” drink I consume is Club-Mate which is essentially water + yerba mate extract + a pinch of sugar, with 20 kcal per 100 ml. Since it contains over twice as less sugar and calories as standard coke, I don’t feel guilty for drinking it.

Usually during the day, I think I drink about 2 liters of water. But it really depends on temperature. During the summer I drink more water.
I switch between muszynianka and some others waters. But I chose muszynianka for its high mineral saturation.
I think everything is for people. Sometimes I like to drink Coca-Cola but is something like a one or two glasses of it. Mainly I drink water.

Maybe 1.5 or 2 liters of water.

2.Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
No, when i want to drink, than it does not metter what to drink.

3.Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
I rarely drink something like coca-cola, because I prefer to drink plain water. Although sometimes it happens that I can drink juice. If calculated, than maybe 0,2 per day.
Usually I drink about 1-1.5 liters of usual water with gas every day but i think this is not enough and I need to increase this value.

I usually choose water by company that bottle it but not by values that defined on the bottle. But in general I like Borjomi water and I think he has a lot of different minerals inside.

Unfortunately I prefer Cocacola or other sweet waters but I'm trying to change this and has started from moving to usual gas water and next step will be usual water but I don't know how soon I will do this step to drink clear water without unnatural components.

How many liters of water do you drink every day?
If we're talkin' about water strictly I drink about 0,5-1 l every day. Rest is in Cola, Coffee and other drinks.
Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
Basicly not, but I remember times when Vitautas (sorry if wrong name) was popular and i drank only it. It tasted not well, but I was sure it had a lot more minerals than any other wator on market :D
Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
I prefer unhealthy drinks that contains something mroe than strictly H2O. Basicly clear water is going through your body and you need to drink it more than any other drinks. I like juices, coca-cola, coffee and anything that I like. Life would be disgusting without other beverages than water.

1. How many liters of water do you drink every day?

I think I drink about 2 liters of water per day, but sometimes more especially at warm days.

2. Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?

In the past, I didn't pay attention to it and I bought for example "Żywiec zdrój", but currently I buy water with high mineral saturation.

3. Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?

I'd like to be healthy and I drink mainly water or drinks with a low sugar content, but from time to time especially at parties I drink unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola.
Daily i think i get around 3L of water, which is supplemented with less healthy drink option's.

There have been time i used to look out for specific highly :enhanced" brand of water, mostly due to my hydration problems when i was more active.
Cola vs water eh i say both are "fine" in reasonable amounts, we should not make such a big deal based on that.

3. Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
a. Right now I prefer to be healthy and I try to drink only water, of course from time to time I will drink coca-cola lime instead. I think that I only drink 330ml. of sweet drinks per week.
I try to drink as much water as I can every day. Minimum I do is 1.5 liter a day and I it also depends on my activities. If I do any workout I can drink even 4 liters.
Choosing water depends on what activities I do. If I’m going to do any training I always try to choose water due to its high mineral saturation. I can see on myself that high mineral saturation water works a lot better for me.
Personally, I prefer water as everyday drink, but sometimes I really love to drink something unhealthy.

Actually, I'm not calculate how many liters of water I drink every day before, But in general, I love water. About I chose water due to its high mineral saturation "No", I love natural water because I drink a lot of water in my day and I know it's useful in general. About unhealthy drinks, I stopped to use it because it made little problems with my teeth, but sometimes I drink energy drinks, also I know it's unuseful so I'll stop it someday.
I try to drink about 2 liters of water every day.

Yes, I often buy water called "Muszynianka".

During the day I drink a few teas. For about a year I have been trying to stop drinking drinks such as coca-cola or other drinks of this type. I also often drink water with "Łowicz" or "Herbapol" juice.

2) Of course, when you starts drinking water every day, you'll be able to feel the diference between taste of each water. I prefer sarkling rather than still water. My favourite is "Myszynianka".

3) I would rather be healthy and drink more water. I feel better, when I'm not drinking uselles sugar -> but sometimes I just want to taste something different

To be honest, I have no idea how much water I drink during the day. It really depends on what is going on during it. But I think, on average, it is about 1 – 1,5 litters per day. Yes, it’s not a lot but I think it’s manageable. As said, amount of consumed water really depends on what kind of day I have. If I am really busy and have no time even for lunch, then I just skip drinking as well, since I don’t like drinking just like, that only when I eat something.
And by the way, I always prefer water to Fanta, Coca-Cola or Pepsi. I don’t why, but if I really want to drink, the only thing that can quench my thirst is water. Not juice, not tea, not sweet drinks or coffee. Only water. That’s why, even though, I really like sweet drinks, especially Fanta, I drink it much less than water.
Regarding minerals. I have heard that there is basically different water depending on different minerals it has. But, to be honest, I have never paid any attention to it, and most likely will not. Anyway it tastes all the same, and no matter what “kind” of water you drink it still will be better and healthier than coffee or energy drink.

• How many liters of water do you drink every day?
I try to tend with 1,5l each day but sometimes I’m just forgetting to hydrate.
• Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
Yes. I often choose Muszynianka or Piwniczanka. They taste good and have a lot of minerals
• Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
I prefer water. I’m not a big fan of coca cola. But some time ago I bought fruit mixer, and when I have a time, I try to do some juice.

1. I drink a lot of water because I work out every single day. I understand how important it is to hydrate my body and this is why I used to drink 2,5-3 liters of water every day.
2. Yes, I have. I always choose water due to high mineral saturation such as Kinga Pienińska or Muszynianka, because I know how important it is to provide minerals to our bodies.
3. I seldom drink soft drinks as Coca-cola or Fanta. Sometimes when I go to the Cinema I drink Coca-cola with nachos. So it is maybe 1 liter a month.
I drink maybe 2 litres of water a day.
Yes, once. My flatmate once said that the water I'm drinking is not so good due to its low mineral saturation. So I decided to go to the shop and pick the one which has "the most value" in terms of minerals.
I'm mostly water-drinker but sometimes I drink coca-cola. Per week I drink maybe one liter of other drinks than water.
1. How many liters of water do you drink every day?
It's hard to tell. I think around 1.5 l? Maybe a bit more, I have no idea to be honest.

2. Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
I have never done that. Hopefuly Cisowianka has some minerals.

3. Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?

When it comes to unhealthy drinks I find it easier for myself to resign from them than to resign from unhealthy food. I drink such things like Coca-cola only on parties, when I mix it with alcohol. My everyday drinks are water, tea nad coffee.

No, I've never chosen water because of its high level of mineral saturation. I do not experiment with water. I choose the brands I know well.
I love coca-cola, but I limited drinking it because of its high level of sugar. Nowadays, I only drink such drinks with zero amount of sugar and zero calories. I believe they are much healthier and the taste is not much different from the original ones. It's hard to say how much I drink.

I've never chosen water due to its high mineral saturation, never thought about it. There are just water that I like and water that I don't like and I can't explain why. I'll check its mineral saturation next time :)
I love juice, I cannot live without juice. Sometimes I drink Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper but nor that often.
Thank you for the wonderful article. I also believe in the magical power of water. I usually try to drink a lot of water, about two liters a day. But for this result, I have to control myself, because usually, I can drink two glasses a day. I never thought about the mineral saturation of water. Very often mineral water is carbonated, and I began to perceive these two terms as one the same. I prefer not to drink other drinks, they usually have a lot of sugar and other harmful substances.

I don't touch drinks with sugar. I only drink water, tea and sometimes coffee.

Not much. That's one of the habits I'm currently working on – to learn how to dring more water. I don't dring required amounts of water because for some reason my organism it not, or I just forget about it. I'm not really sure.

I used to check it. Nowadays I don't care about it that much.

I'm a programmer, so I love coca-cola. I was the founder of the idea of buying coca-cola branded fridge to our office. Now it's always filled up with cans of this carbonated black liquid. It's hard not to be tempted by it, so I think I am drinking approximately 1 liter of it weekly.

2. I rather don't look for a saturation minerals in water. But sometimes I buy water with extra magnesium.

3. I prefer drink a water, but sometimes i have desire for sweet drinks. So if I have only water in home I drink it, but when I can chose between drink cola or water. I probably will chosen cola because it's taste better.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I agree with fact that we have to drink water everyday but there is upper limit too. In my opinion, the most dangerous effect of drinking to much fluids is fact that it can lead to hyponatremia. Have you ever heard about this?
I used to drink about 2,5 liters per day, but there was a time that I was drinking like 5 liters and that was way to much even tough it sjust a water. Yes sometimes I buy water with high mineral saturation but usually I don't mind other waters.
I love coca-cola but I am trying to quit it. Its pretty hard as drinking beverages is almost like a drug addiction its nearly impossible to stop immadiately
I don’t quite know how much water I drink a day, but I’d wager it’s not enough. I’ve been trying to combat this by buying and using a filtering water bottle, but it’s not enough of a habit yet for me to be content with my water intake. I can’t really taste miniscule differences in mineral contents, so unless particular water has noticeably large amounts I don’t really care about that. Admittedly I do drink large amounts of various juices and cola, but I’ve been trying to cut on that lately using the mentioned water bottle.

i know i sure drink much more often then i do and also more regularely but, i just cant do it. Also when i have any choice i would pick some bevrage over wather as i simply don't like taste of it. Also, im not suprised by muszyniankas mineral components. Ive always heard that it has most of them but still somehow cisowianka is like the most popular one. Its everywere. In every gym etc. Anyone know why?

I think a lot (something like 2-3 liters), because I drink tea or just water very often. No I don’t chose water because of its high mineral solution, I chose water because it taste better to me and very often I prefer water than juice especially if I eat some sweet stuff. Answer for last question its not difficult: water, for me taste very good of course second place is coffee or tea 😉.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, as I mentioned difference between Cisowianka and Muszynianka, you can compare any other waters.

Thank your presentation. Yes, I have noticed that people in the gym prefer drinking waters with high mineral saturation.

Oh, I don't measure how much water I drink but I think it's about 2,5 - 3 liters a day, but there sometimes days when I don't feel thirsty at all and can drink much less. I think my drinking habits depend on the weather and conditions but it isn't something extraordinary, as we all tend to drink more in hot sunny days.
I've personally don't pay that much attention to mineral saturation in the water but some people do and they have their own reasons to do so, for example, people who do sports or who are ill may drink more mineral-enriched water then rest of us.
I drink Coca-Cola very very rarely and I'm not a fan of such energy drinks.

1. I drink one liter of water per day.
2. Some years ago I was drinking only juices or sodas but now I prefer water, tea or coffee.
3. I think that I drink one glass of such drinks per day on average.

I drink enough water at my work and home - 8-10 glasses per day. Also I eat oats in the morning and grapefruit after eating. I'm healthy and hansom.

I like Coca-Cola. I think that you can drink it sometimes. And I think that it doesn't affect human's body and health too much. In my opinion energy drinks are much worse. Oh my God, people why you drink so much energy drinks? I don't understand.
Of course, not everything so well turns out as there is a wish. Unfortunately I never paid attention to the mineral saturation of water. Always drank water from a well which is located in the yard. Very seldom, my uncle, brought Borjomi in glass bottles. I as remember this taste of water now, it was magically. I prefer to drink clear water without gas, without food colorings, without sweeteners.

1. How many liters of water do you drink every day?
I'm drinking about 2 big bottles of water everyday, so something about 4L.

2. Have you ever chosen water due to its high mineral saturation?
No, I have not. But I've heard about it.

3. Would you rather be healthy and drink water or you prefer more unhealthy drinks such as coca-cola? How many liters of it do you drink every day?
You know, everything is for people. Usually water is the only thing I drink during the day, but sometimes I like to drink Coca Cola Zero. Zero not because of its zero calories etc, but it just tastes better for me.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
