Week 8 [03.12-09.12.18] Try something new for 30 days

Only 30 days is enough to develop the habit. And what if you gave yourself a month to try to do something that you have always looked at with longing eyes, what you care for years, but you never found time for? 30 days - is enough time to completely change your life.

Interesting video showing people to act and start doing something new with their lives.

If by such a possibility you mean that It's possible to make a habit in 30 days I agree. I think it's possible and the worst are 2 first weeks when you are trying to change something but they it's becoming your everyday routine that you just stick to you just because you have been doing it for past few days.

I think I would recommend watching this movie to people who struggle with beeing sustainable with something.

I have challenged myself many times with this type of 30 day change and I really like trying something new. Even now I could say I'm living in 30 day challenge. Highly recommend trying that yourself.
That is by far the shortest TED talks video presented in this course. And it actually is valuable, if you ask me. By the way, for a mammal (a human is a mammal), scientists say that twenty one days are enough to develop a habit. I tried those challenges myself and they work, really. The trick here is that you actually have to do them, what was planned, every day, without skipping.

I find it pretty hard to take this challenge, as very often it requires a lot of initial, input effort from you to feel comfortable at what you're doing. Take a hockey, as an example. I was always interested in hockey and always wanted to start training it, but as I have very limited time per week for myself - it would take me forever to play a game. The point is, before you can play a game you need to be stable on ice and feel comfortable with multiple types of movements on your skates, so there is a lot of initial work and training, which obviously require plenty of time. However, you should always keep trying and making your dreams come true, even when it seems hard to do so. In addition, I would recommend this video anyone who constantly moan about his/her life.

I heard about it in the past and I think that it's definitely possible, but it's not easy at the beginning. We have our habits, and it's hard to fight with them. I liked this video because Matt says one thing that is very important and true - you can't make a huge change easily. I tried to take this challenge a few times and as I said it's not easy, but works. The one thing is - it's not important if you're able to do it for 30 days but how it will change you or your habits after this time.

I heard about this technique several times earlier. But honestly, I did not dare to use it in my life. I have a friend who tried to implement it in his daily practice, but he failed. After that, I became a supporter of the fact that if you have no willpower, then no way will help you change your life for the better. But if you have a strong character, then this can be done in less than 30 days. If I have problems, I will certainly try this method.

1. I think it is possible to develop a habit in 30 days. Although it entirely depends on the person and on the habit that you are trying to pick. Some habits require much more time and effort than the others. For example it would be much easier to read a book in a month than to write one and I believe it would be much harder to pick a habit of writing a book than reading one.

2. Yes, I would recommend watching it to people who complain for not having time to do anything.

3. Probably, I think I'll start this challenge in January. I already have few ideas. Learning a new card trick or writing a haiku every day. I would also like to create a board game or card game within a month.
It was interesting presentation, but I heard that to develop a habit you need only 21 day. And I think it's working, because when you are doing something every day and after some time you are starting to do it automatically. Of course, I will recommend this video to my friends. I wanna try to take this challenge and I think it's hard, because it's always hard to change something when you are used to this, but changes are worth it.

1) 30 days to force a habit to stay in your life is more than enough.
There was a prove that it is possible even after 21 days.

2) It is not necessary. This kind of information is a common knowledge. People just need a motivation or a will to start it.

3) Yep. It is hard but worth to do from time to time.
I think that stamtement about a 30 days is a truth, as i have made many new habits using it. I think that it would be extremely weird if i for no reason tried to cinvince someone to watch this video, so i would not recommend it. I am thinking of a new challenge to make, so yes.

I believe that in 30 days we can achieve any goals or make a new habit just by spending some time on it. I made in that way a lot changes in my life. Yes, I definitely recommend to watch this video only if someone really needs this. Yes, I am totally into it. I have so many changes to do in my life.

How Matt Cutts said, "We can do anything for 30 days", and it's true. Just need to stop putting affairs off tomorrow, and start do it today and now, then you can do anything what you want. Because you can always putting affairs off tomorrow and never do it.

Yes, from my experience it's basicly true, but you need to have need for that.

Maybeeee... Maybe to my gf to give her life more colors, but I don't think that she has time for it as an examination is comin' [*]

I basicly did. I was arachnophobic the whole life. Bought a spider, taking care of it till this day... with many more that came to me during that time.
I also did many other things that changed my daily routine. It's funny how our brain can change in a short period of time :D

Actually, I think it's possible for a human to decide something need to change or try with any period 30 days above or less, And I agreement on small changes in human life make huge different things. Exactly, I loved this short video it's simple and I will share it. Maybe I'm going to try this idea or method because it's worth to challenge your self.

It should be possible to develop a habit in less than 30 days. Probably the second week will be the hardest one, as your willpower will go down after first one and habit is still not strong enough by itself.

2. Would you recommend watching this movie to anyone?
Developing habits by forcing it on yourself for few weeks is mostly common knowledge. Most people simply know it already and won't need a video.

3. Will you take this challenge?
Yes. I believe I have successfully applied this pattern for myself a few times already.

a. I think so, you can change something in your life every month. As the author said it can be a small change, but you can try it.
2. Would you recommend watching this movie to anyone?
a. I would recommend this video to people that are bored or want to change something in their life, for example quite drinking soda or stop using Facebook.
3. Will you take this challenge?
a. Not now, but later I will definitely try to challenge myself for 30 days, I would probably try to stop drinking coffee for a month.

It’s not the first time I hear about this method of creating new habits or dealing with unwanted ones, so I’m willing to believe there is a grain of truth to it. Haven’t exactly tried it myself yet, but having found myself in a situation where I happen to have more free time nowadays I may just give it a try. The video is not very long or involved, and I think it does a good job of highlighting the method, so it is suited well to sharing the concept with other people and I would likely use it if I wanted someone to check this challenge out.

I’ve heard about this concept before. It’s an interesting one. I have actually tried it few times and failed miserably. Well, sometimes it worked but mostly not. I have managed to complete 50% of one challenge but then gave up. As for others, I think it took me about one week to bail on it. Two of them I’ve actually completed. So it didn’t really work for me. But not because idea is flawed, but because I am an extremely lazy person. I just didn’t have enough will to complete this challenge. And I think this is the core thing. You need a motivation to do it. An actual desire to achieve your goal. Otherwise you will not make it. And even if you finish it, there is no guarantee you will actually develop a habit. Most likely you will drop it the next few days and things will become as they were. So I would recommend to try it but only if you really want to try something. As for myself, I think when I will be 100% sure that I want to do it, I will try once more.
I do belive that in 30 days you can develop a habit but you must really work on it through those 30 days.
And probably I would recommend watching this movie to a group of my friends- we tried many 'systems' of introducing new habits to our life and this simple method of "trying something new for 30days" looks interesting.
I will take this challenge but I have to think about what I want to try for 30days.
I will gladly accept this challenge. I am by nature a lazy enough person and I need to make great efforts to achieve a result. Some habits are worth accepting this challenge. And although this requires great willpower, I will believe in myself. Everyone knows that do challenge with friends is a great idea. It doesn’t matter if you start losing weight, going to the gym, running in the morning, drawing every day, or reading one book at one week. When you know you're not alone, it helps a lot. At the moment when you are ready to quit, understanding that your friend is still in the game stops you.

It's a very interesting topic. I believe that the 30-day experiment can develop a habit. However, it all depends on our engagement.
I would recommend watching this video for every person that wants to change something in life. This lecture shows that we don't need to turn the life upside down.
Recently, I was thinking to start learning any new programming language. Maybe it's a good reason to try this method.

Yes, of course, I believe that consistent habit can make everything possible. But I also want to point out one thing that was shown at the end of the video by Matt. If you try for example to reduce the amount of consumed sugar (in the case of Matt) or get rid of some unhealthy addiction than 30 days challenge is definitely not enough for you. It takes discipline and power of will to stop eating unhealthy food or drinking or even simply sitting and procrastinating your time. Because at the end of this challenge you will stop feeling like you must keep your routine and you will start doing again the exact thing you tried to get rid of.
I would recommend this video to other people and I think I should take this challenge too. Just for curiosity to see what would change.

1. From my own experience I can say that 30 days is enough time to develop new habit. Last year I started attending gym early in the mornings before going to work, it was really hard at the beginning to get up earlier and then go for a workout, but after first week it has become a little less difficult and gradually I have got used to it after two weeks.
2. I would definitely recommend watching this video to anyone who is considering changing something in his life and is afraid that he will fail quickly.
3. I have already taken such a challenge and I will surely take other ones in the future.

I think yes, you can achieve a lot of things in 30 days, but it depends on effort which you will put in it.

The 30-day theory sounds very inviting and I would be inclined to believe that it works. Even I would love to try something like this with no-sugars for 30 days.
Of course, I would recommend this movie to some friends. I know that some people could use 30 days of detox or work on themselves.
I think I will undertake this challange but I will try tomorrow;)
