Week 4 [06.11-12.11] – Bordeaux Wines – a fine brand with history

Who doesn’t like a good drink? In the whole history of our civilization wine has taken a special place. From the ancient Egypt it has been constantly distilled with care and passion. A prime example of such are wines from the Bordeaux region. Check out the video and answer three simple questions.
And now the questions:
1.       Do you like wine? If you do, then which type of wine is your favorite?
2.       Do you think drinking one bottle of wine to dinner every day is healthy?
3.       Would you like to try distilling wine and if you  did, was it good?

I'm not a great fan of wine - one, maybe two glasses, but mostly wine has got a intense aroma and it makes it hard for me to drink more. I like rather sweet wines - as for now color doesn't matter.
I believe that one glass of wine or other alcohol may be healthy (it helps to clean up organism), but definitely not an entire bottle.
I wasn't distilling wine by myself, but my uncle did - his wine was very sweet and tasty.

Do you perhaps remember what grapes he used and for how long was he destilling one batch?

Im not a huge fan of wine, if i drink it then it's only with my girlfriend while we are watching movie or eating in restaurant. I prefer sweet wines. I think that drinking one bottle of wine to dinner every day can be healthy. I read that red wine can save you from heart attack. Actually my friend served me distilled wine and it had a good taste.
Unknown said…
Which colour do you prefer? Additionally if you prefer sweet wines try Albana Dolce. You might find it quite good.
And about the destilled wine? Had it additional unusual fragrace or taste?

I love wine, because I love cooking and there is no good cooking without wine! The last great French chef, Jacques Pépin, when asked what the best cooking habits were, replied: "I always start with a glass of wine when I cook" and "I continue with another glass of wine."

I have a weakness for Nebbiolo and Sagrantino di Montefalco. If you are a meat eater, they go fantastically well with slow cooked heavy wild games dishes. You feel like you moved back in time and you are a traveler resting in a village tavern in Medieval Italy.

Curiously, Israeli wine (not the industrial-scale kosher wineries but boutiques wineries) has started to be recognized as producing world class vintages. Especially Golan Heights with its dry climate, high-elevated vineyards (up to 1,200 meters above sea level) and sunshine. It is the best region for growing one of most noble varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon. They also grow Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blanc. I recommend doing a trip around Golan Heights, which is a beautiful region, and visiting local family own boutique wineries. Some of them are truly exceptional. Pelter Winery won several gold awards at international competitions. The owner, Tal Pelter, is a very interesting guy worth meeting and talking to. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/14/business/golan-heights-making-wine/index.html

Is drinking a bottle of wine to dinner every day healthy? I believe French and Italians do not ask themselves such questions ;)

I tried to make wine from a winemaking kit (on my friend's request). Luckily, nobody died.

Well… I can say that wine is quite appealing to me. In terms of a strict taste I would rank wine and whiskey on the same level, however usually I prefer to drink craft beers. I guess I haven’t matured enough to enjoy wine that much, heh.
I don’t think that drinking wine everyday would benefit our health, but still had read about positive aspects of red wine on decreasing risk of getting different cancer types and reducing blood pressure. Probably drinking in moderation could improve our health.
Unfortunately, I don’t have conditions to start distilling wine in my home and passion to it yet. Maybe in future I could do some experimental alcohols in the basement, who knows…

Don't worry. I've had the same problem few years ago. None of the wines tasted good to me. Then my friend bought some sweet af wine. I unfortunately don't remember what it was called, but it was great. After that i started drinking more good wines and it went like that. Now i'm able to calmly drink any wine be it sweet or dry. About experimenting with alcohols. Me and myfriend once tried that to make mead. We did it. We drank it. And unfortunately never tried again. Not because it was bad. On the contrary it was quite pleasant in taste. We just hadn't the aparature anymore as my fried broke it :<

Hopefully that chef wasn't drinking that wine, becausethat can be quite dangerous xD. Though i disagree with what you said earlier. The cooking without wine canalso be good. Besides wine doesn't fit everywhere. Imagine this:
Morning you wake up to make some cereal (still cooking althoug barely). You notice lack of milk and decide to use wine. That is not a good idea (especially if you are driving later xD )
Alicja said…
God bless you if preparing a bowl of breakfast cereal is cooking :D
Also, it's whiskey with cornflakes. Don't put straight milk :)

I drink wine only when I spend time with my family. To be honest I prefer whiskey or craft beers. Maybe my taste will change with age.

I do not think that drinking the hole of wine everyday is a good and healthy idea - it's a little bit too much :) In my opinion, the glass of wine would be enough. I heard that all kind of alcohol is healthy but when you drink it in small quantities.

I love wine, the types vary depending on the food I have with it, from very dry to very sweet, from deep red to bright white.
When it comes to volume, I know drinking a bottle of wine every day is not healthy for me, one glass is fine though.

I never tried distilling wine myself, and would probably not attempt to, but I provided grapes from my garden for my friend/neighbor that did. The first time he found that the equipment was faulty and the wine went bad, so he re-purposed the wine into hooch which, as a matter of fact, was great and super-tasty.

The second attempt went a lot better though and he managed to make a few bottles of really nice, semi-dry, deep red wine that we deeply enjoyed over a few nice dishes. Now he has a third batch in his basement and I cannot wait til the moment it is ready!

Wine is one of my best drinks, because I don't get drunk so fast and it's really considered to be healthy. I love red sweet wine with cheese, because it's simply delicious. Also I'd prefer semi-dry wine for lunch or supper as the tradition says. Ancient Greeks used to drink red wine with water and I think that it has better effects for our mind and flesh than other harder alco :)
I know that Italians( or generally people from the South) drink a couple of glasses of wine everyday and it makes them healthier. I am inclined to believe that real natural wine improves our mood and blood circulation system. Moreover, it depends on a purpose of drinking. If someone wants to get drunk, he would do it anyway.
No, I haven't tried such wine so I can't say anything about the taste of it
Tomasz Morawski said…
Well, I do like wine but to be honest I prefer other kinds of alcohol, e.g. beer or champagne. I usually get fed up with wine after two glasses.
I believe one bottle of wine every day is a little too much, but one glass might be actually pretty healthy if its quality is good.
I've also never tried to distil wine but I had plans to make my own beer. Unfortunately, it still didn't happen due to lack of time and my laziness.

I can honestly say that wine is one of my favorite alcohol types, just next to whisky. It's pretty hard to say which type of wine is my favourite, but if I had to choose, I'd stick with either Château De Lisse Saint-Émilion Grand Cru or Conte di Campiano Primitivo. Both of them are dry, but also have this strong taste of fruits.

I don't think that drinking that much of any types of alcohol would be healthy to anyone. I guess that the maximum amount of wine that could be healthy (or at least not harming) is glass a day.

I didn't ever try distilling wine myself, but I had some chances of trying it. It was really nice and sweet, in my opinion much better than the regular sweet wine from the shops (it's completely different, when it comes to the taste and feel of it.)
Jakub Lisicki said…
I think that red wine could actually be healthy when it comes to lowering the risk of a heart attack, since some cardiologists in Poland tend to prescribe it as a form of preventing health issues related to circulatory system.

I switched from drinking beer to red wine in hopes it would help me run my half marathon. Over the past few months I have started feeling so much better...not only physically but mentally. I now have no desire to drink beer and whiskey. It's like it makes me feel happy
Unknown said…
I don't suffer the wine. I don't like this taste. My girlfriend always drinks wine herself and I drink beer :D
One bottle a day in my opinion is a bit too much. One lamp it's ok but not a bootle. So, for me the wine may not exist :)
Magdalena Popek said…
Actually wine is my favourite alcohol. I'm usually drinking those with price not exceeding 30zl, so I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur :P I like white and pink wines the most. I usually buy moscato and white zinfandel.
I've heard about health benefits of drinking wine, but definitely not the entire bottle. It was a maximum of one glass of wine a day. I know sometimes one glass is not enough, but a bottle a day will definitely not keep the doctor away.
My parents tried to distil wine few years ago but I was too young to enjoy the taste of it. They let me taste a bit but back then everything that contained alcohol was horrible (for me). I will think about distilling my own wine when I have time and money for it.
I do like wines and I prefer the sweeter ones. When it comes to red wines my favorite grape variety is Grenache. Its most popular representative is Châteauneuf-du-Pape and it’s simply to die for. Of all the wines my favorite variety is Gewürztraminer - symbol of Alsace. It’s a very strong and sweet white wine. It has a golden color, oily texture and it’s very aromatic. You either hate it or love it.
1.Well, there is only one type of wine that I like: white and very sweet (especially from ume plum).
2. For one person: it's too much in my opinion. I don't like drinking alcohol regularly (it feel so bad). And it can't be healthy.
3. Maybe in the future I will try distilling wine but at this moment I don't thin so.
I don’t really like wine, I feel like I’m drinking some spoiled juice. It’s probably the smell that bothers me. I think that one bottle of wine to dinner every day is way too much, but one glass may be healthy and beneficial to you.
I have never tried to distill my own wine, because as I mentioned earlier,

To be honest I drink wine from time to time, but i am not fan of this type of alcohol. I prefer a beer or vodka. because as we know 'vodka is connecting people' :). If i have to choose my favourite alcohol it will be rose wine.

I heard that drinking wine with dinner or supper is very health for human body, and I belive it. But I have one doubt - I think drinking all the whole bottle at once is not a good idea.
This amount of alcohol can not be healthy. Personally I would suggest one glass of wine. In my opinion that's enough.

I tried several times distilled wines. It was quite good in taste, but like I mentioned, i am not huge fan of wine.
That's why my opinion may be very subjcetive.
I am not a huge fan of wine. Good whisky or a fine beer is a great addon to a meal for me. After the red wine I have the most terribe hangover every time. White wine is quite good especially after a meal with a family but usually only on Sundays. There is one wine in the world I love. It is made in Greece and called Retsina - for me it's perfect - most whisky and harder drink lovers will absolutely be amazed by it. It has a very bitter taste because of resin from the barrels. If you will ever go to Zakhyntos you have to try it especially there are many local vineyards there.
Unknown said…
I definitely do like wine. I'm not an expert by any means but when I choose one I direct myself with rather country origin and when it comes to that, italian, toscany red wines are a winner (especially in a package with italian food ;)).
One bottle of wine with your family to dinner is most certainly healthy. It helps with digestion and is good for your heart, helps relaxing and brings inspiration when you need it. Of course as with everyhing in resonable amounts.
I wouldn't try distilling my own wine, too much of a hassle, it wouldn't be good either so why do it when there are already enough delicious wines to choose from ;)
Unknown said…
I really like a wine and especially a red dry wine. I am not a specialist and I don't know a lot about this but I care only about how it taste and it taste good. I like to drink one glass of wine to dinner because I think that it helps to digesting.

You asked if one bottle of wine every day is healthy. I think that a one bottle of wine doesn't has very destructive influance on our health other than we will zigzag after it. I think that a key word in this question is "every day". If we drink alkohol every day then it is the best way to finish as participant of AA meetings.

My parents makes a wine and I know how it is made. I have to admit that it is the best wine for me. I am person which really like home-made products and I appreciate when somebody treats me their own wine.

Generally, I don't like wine. I drink it mainly on family parties but it's not a great delight for me. :) The only time when I drunk wine and I really liked its taste was when I was on a trip on Lanzarote Island (one of the Canary Islands). I think it was a sweet or a half-sweet wine made of local grapes. Lanzarote is a volcanic island, which means great soil for cultivation of grapes.

Bottle of wine everyday sounds a bit like an overkill to me, even if it's healthy.

I have one favourite wine but I can drink every wine which is sweet or semi-sweet :D. For me, drinking one bottle of wine to dinner isn't a good idea. In fact, it's still alcohol, isn't it? For time to time it's good to drink wine but not one bottle a day for cat's sake!
I was trying to distilling wine with my grandpa and it was delicious. But waiting for end of this process was terrible :D.

I don't like any wine. Especially bitter wines. They are too bitter for me. I don't like any alcohol. The only alcohol that I once tasted and liked was Karmi. I heard that drinking alcohol is good for kidney's. But I think once a day is far too often. I haven't heard of distilling wine. But I am eager to try.
I like wine but not always I have to have a mood for it. If I had to choose my favourite type of wine i would pick white and sweet wine. I'm not sure if drinking one bottle of wine to dinner every day is healthy, i guess it's a bit too more. I'd rather say that glass of wine every day is healthy, but not the whole bottle. I never tried to make my own wine but I would love to!
Unknown said…
I don't like the taste of most wines I tried. Generally, they're not the alcoholic drink I like. I prefer beer and whiskey, mostly the American ones. But I heard that drinking a glass of wine daily has positive effect on human health. So single bottle for a family would be good enough for daily health, but no more than glass per person. As for making wines... I'm not a big fan of making my brews, I prefer drinking them or making much quicker drinks rather than waiting several weeks, months or years for it to be ready.
Unknown said…
I love wine, but that doesn't mean I drink only this type of alcohol, of course. When it comes to type, the answer is "It depends". I wouldn't stand seeing someone pouring dessert red wine to fish, as well as a very dry wine doesn't really mix well with cakes.
My favorites though are sweet or semi-sweet ones, I like drinking them after a good dinner or for special occasion.

>Do you think drinking one bottle of wine to dinner every day is healthy?
What kind of question is this?! Whole Mediterranean region qould be long dead if it wasn't healthy, yet they are alive and seem to be much happier than people north of them. Of course its table wine, but still...

>Would you like to try distilling wine and if you did, was it good?
I would definitely like to try it, but I guess I don't have enough space for the required tools and glasses for it. Also I'm impatient so I probably would be a "very quick" distiller.
Unknown said…
Cat's sake? Okay. Suit yourself xD
You said one bottle is too much. So how much would be acceptable for you?
Unknown said…
What kind of question is this? Random one xD I literally had no idea for the questions to this presentation xD
Unknown said…
If i may, i would suggest to you Albana Dolce.|
It looks like this:
http://www.alkoholeswiata-sklep.pl/uploads/images/Wina/albana%20dolce.jpg
Costs about 40 zł but it's worth it in my opinion. It's very sweet white wine. You might like it as it is not bitter and doesn't fell like you are drinking wine. More like drinking grape juice.
Unknown said…
So you are a wine person? Could you name 3 of your top wines? I'm curious about their taste.
Unknown said…
You focused on only red wine? Was it dy or sweet? And what changed (besides the taste), so that you don't want to go back to beer and whiskey?
Unknown said…
I see no answer for my last question :'<
Unknown said…
Well one will like one will hate. I'm not condemning you for not liking wine, although it's a shame. But heck. More wine for me :D
Unknown said…
They tried it once, will they try again? Or have already tried? About you destilling one yourself. Give me a free sample will ya? xD
Unknown said…
Well, wine is basically defined as fermented GRAPE juice (ocasionally with some additions) so anything not made from grapes is sadly not wine.
Unknown said…
Oh boy. What kind of liquid awfulness were you given, that made you think that way (spoiled juice and smell part)?
Unknown said…
Well i understand that you prefer other alcohols, though what is curious is why are you fed up with wine after two glasses? is it the texture, the taste or the smell? Or perhaps something else?
Unknown said…
Well i don't think that contaminated spirit (a.k.a. DENATURAT) is healthy in any quantities.
Unknown said…
I am a big fan of wine. Especially red, dry ones. I dabble a little bit a in sensory skills and I very much enjoy the bright acidity of a good wine. Sweet and semi sweet wines are also very nice to drink, but only once in a while. Lately I started to notice that wine became go to alcoholic drink, what 2 or 3 years ago would be ludicrous for me. I even have a bottle of Bordeaux from 1974 that i got from my grandfather on my 18 birthday and it's waiting for some special occasion.
I believe that a glass of red wine is very beneficial for health but I think that a bottle a day could be taking it a step to far.
My grandfather is distilling his own wine and it's quite tasty. I have never tried it myself, but I like trying new things and that one sounds as interesting as any.
Unknown said…
There is something about wines that just repels me. I am not the biggest fan of alcoholic beverages at all and wine is one of the worst. It is hard to explain but there is something about red wine that I despise. I've tried different ones over and over again and the same thing happens - it just makes me want to vomit. The white one is okay though. I enjoy its acidity.

I drink wine on special occasions. I like the taste of red dry wines made by Spain.
Drinking wine everyday is not healthy. They are classified as alcoholic beverages, and these are known for high calories. In addition, the daily drinking of wine can gradually lead us to an alcohol addiction, and also trigger the onset of a heart disease. To sum up I would agree with the fact that drinking red wine occasionally brings a good result, but, in excess, it is unfortunately the opposite. Destiliated wine are brandy, whiskey, etc. Such drinks are ideal for important celebrations. Their specific taste and high alcohol concentration make us drink a moderate amount of alcohol, which allows us savor their taste.

I am a huge wine fan. I prefer dry wines, both white and red. My favorite wines are from Italy, France and Austria. But Italian are number one. When I travel by car I try not to miss a chance to visit wineries and small local wine shops, where you can degustate and learn something interesting about the culture of the region. People often think that the price matters, but sometimes you can find a great green wine even at Lidl at a very modest price. I always try to have wine at home, even if I don't drink it every day. For me wine is a pleasant ritual, not a banal alcohol. That's is why the mood and wine glasses are important:)
Unfortunately, I have never tried the home distilled wine, but I wish I will.
Personally,I like wine and my favourite type of wine semi-dry wine. I am not quite sure if drinking one bottle of wine to dinner every day is healthy, maybe two or three glasses. Overall , I think wine is a great product and it's better than other alcoholic drinks.
I'm not a big fan of drinking either, but I also do appreciate a good wine every once in a while. I'm never drinking alone, always with somebody and always due to some event. I'm yet to try the ones you linked here, but I'm sure they taste good.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
