Week 4 [06.11-12.11] – How to create successful business

I.              How to create successful businesses

Business is everywhere. From the ancient times people make deals, sales and try to figure out how to succeed on the market or target more and more potential customers. Today we have a lot of startups, which help people make their business dreams come true. Some of them succeed and some of them fail, so what stands behind a successful business? Simon Sinek tries to answer this open question in the TED talk presented below. I encourage you to watch the video, think it over and answer the questions:

QUESTIONS:

1. Do you agree with Simon’s theory about successful businesses? Why/why not?
2. Do you know some unmentioned companies, which also seem to follow “why” strategy?

3. Are you an early adopter of any company or product?

Actually I agree with Simon. Everything now - every business, app, website - are basing on UX. UX first of all defines users and their needs. So it's pretty much the same - we need to ask a question why we do what we do. His theory is really hype nowadays.
As I mentioned - I think most of companies are following or are trying to follow this theory. I don't know companies which do something and doesn't know why.
I see myself as an early adopter of Xiaomi products. I've ordered my first Xiaomi smartphone when here in Poland awareness of this brand was scant. Now there are few polish places where we can buy Xiaomi, but still it's not very popular.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't work always and the example is: Nikola Tesla And T. A. Edison.
Tesla had the "why", he believed in better future, in better tomorrow, he believed in free electricity for everyone, but he died in poverty.
Edison had the "what", he was rich and wealthy, wanted to stay rich and wealthy and died rich and wealthy.

I can only agree in 50 percent with his speech. There are plenty examples which proves that passion and "why" factor is not enough to run sucessfull buisness. Yevhen Shcherbynskyi gives us a great example of Edison and Tesla. On the other hand there are people who are driven by couse, purpose, who believe that they can change the world for better. The example which comes to my mind is Elon Musk. He wants to make an Earth a cleaner and safer place by replacing combustion engines to electric ones or investing millions of dollars in renewable sources of energy.

I don't consider myself as an adopter, but to be honest I like to have new tech gadgets just after the premiere. :)

I agree with Simon. Most companies use this method. I don't have my own company yet. But I know after my parents that opening their own companies in our country is not a simple matter

Totally agree with Simon actually watched him even before today. He talks a lot about millennials and problems they have. It opened my eyes that if person not behaving the way you expect its bad choice to just call thet person stupid. You never know what happened to that person or whether he need help instead of yelling. I admire the work he is doing for the good of our society.
I agree with Simon’s theory. When you know what you want, you are clear where you going and you are confident about it the strategy and how to get there will make itself known. I believe that when you know why you doing something and you strongly believe in it, you will figure out the “how” and “what”.

You are kind of right, but it was way different back in Edison's times. Could You provide some answers for 3 given questions above?

Well doesn't it depend on idea of your company? Nevertheless, could you provide some answers to questions number 2 and 3?

Great! Do you have something to say in the subject of this article?

I like this summary, good job Małgorzata! Do you consider yourself as an early adopter of any company or product?

Simon has an interesting point of view, but I would rather think of this golden circle schema as something, that is applicable not only in business.
It's easier to make your decisions if you are perfectly sure about what you trying to achieve. It helps you to plan your future according to your targets, and it can inspire people around you.
From the other side, I don't think that this schema has something common with our brain. People prefer question "why" over "how" and "what", because it has more power and more assurance inside, and that's all.

I changed my mind about this presentation, it's definitely one of the most useful things I ever heard.
"We follow those who lead not for them, but for ourselves". From now on I will try to follow this principle, thank you very much for this presentation!

I agree but "meh". Why does he share "the golden circle"? Sounds familiar and makes sense to first have a "why" not "how" or "what" in regards to inside gut feeling. If you don't feel it even though you understand it it's "meh".

But every business has its reasons and aims. And they always think about customers. People have needs, and companies want to fulfill them with products they produce or service they provide.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
