Week 11 [13.01- 19.01.2020] Are you color blind?

Many people struggle with seeing colors. Color blindness also known as color vision deficiency makes
people perceive colors in different way. Some may find it difficult to tell the difference between certain
colors. The most common kind of color blindness is red-green, which is believed to affect around 8%
of males and 0.5% of females. Are you among them? Or maybe you struggle only with harder ones?
Feel free to watch attached video and answer the questions.

  1. Do you struggle with distinguishing colors? If so, in what way does it affect your life?
  2. Were you able to see the difference in all examples given in the video?
  3. Were you able to easily distinguish all colors or you started to struggle at some point?

No, I don't. I have never ever had an issue on color but of course there are some dependencies like a low/high lights can be change the colors especially in nowadays the mobile phones have different screen colors so that's affecting the life in matter.

2- Were you able to see the difference in all examples given in the video?
Yes.

3- Were you able to easily distinguish all colors or you started to struggle at some point?
easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Yes i do, it's not like a great problem for me but when playing certain video games its sometimes hard for me to spot an enemy while for my friends its obvious that there is a threat. I've started playing new Call of Duty some time ago and I was amazed when i've entered graphic settings and there was an option to choose one of three color blindness types of settings. After I've chosen setting for dichromatic color blindness type the game started to look way more clear for me and after some research i've found out that in fact i have dichromacy.

No I wasn't able to do that. As i said before, when it's too little of a difference between colors, there is no way that i'm able to tell the difference.

Referring to my life experience, the color blindness occured for me when i've started playing video games. Before that i haven't noticed any problems with distinguishing colors.

I don't struggle with distinguishing colors at all. I paint a lot and i don't have any problems with choosing right shades and right paint layers. Thanks to that I can even name a little bit more colors than regular man. Eyesight is important sense for me therefore it is easier for me to remember things when i see them. Because of this quite often i am able to buy something like a furniture, cloths, paints without anything to compare it to and mostly (but not always) i choose the right shade.
In the video i was able to identify every different shade but i suppose it matters on what kind of device you watch it. It is probably easier on computer's screen rather than mobile and it depends on quality of the screen. Even insolation and brightness of screen matters - i think that it is easier to see differences while you are in dark room, watching bright screen.
I didn't struggle. It reminded me of mobile game i used to play: I love hue. It is relaxing game of switching colorful squares to match the right shade. I quite enjoyed this game.

Congrats on beating the challenge :). About mobiles it's true that screens not obly in mobiles depend on light and angle you look at them. From what I can remember there are certain types of sceens that change its colors or not due to angles.

Although you struggle with colors You are the first one to suggest chaning them in out projects :). About games, it is great option yes. Despite I myself do not have any problems with colors I still play League of Legends with color blind mode. It just looks better and sharper.

Glad to hear that. It's a nice hobby to have. About screens, it is true it might be tougher on mobile devices, although from what I can remember I watched it also on my phone and it was fine. I guess it depends on brightness and how good of a display your phone has.
1. No, I don't have such problems at the moment, although I know that many people have problems distinguishing colors. Color blindness is very dangerous when it comes to driving, it can cause safety - when the driver confuses the color of the lights.

2. Yes, I didn't have any problems with solving the presented test. I think that this test is not reliable, a good monitor / screen in the computer plays a big role.

3. As I mentioned earlier. I had no problems with the test solution. However, I understand that not everyone is able to distinguish colors.

True that struggle with distinguishing colors may in some cases be dangerous. I guess bomb defuser from american movies cannot be colorblind :). I guess people on the road are rather focued on what color lights though than what color it is.
1. I never had any problems with distinguishing colors. Actually opposite. As long as i remember i was the one everybody around was asking for calibrating their monitor colors or setting up their printers (the first thing i think about when it comes to very small differences in colors that actually matters a lot).

2. Yes. I managed to see all of them correctly even the last one (but i struggled with it for a second mainly because of the trick). However all of them seemed to be quite easy for me which I am happy about.

3. as i said it was rather easy for me with all examples. The only one I had a problem with was the last one. But here i must admit i was suggesting myself with the imposed challenge. So even when at first i thought that all of them are the same colour i was convincing myself i had to find some difference.

1) No, I don't. I was lucky enough to be born without sight complications of this kind.
2) Yes, I did, although the last one almost tricked me.
3) Very easy. I'm pretty sure this kind of test is supposed to be taken in well-prepared conditions such as lighting and surface on which image is shown. Because I have a very good high contrast screen, any difference was instantly obvious.
I don't struggle with distinguishing colors.
I was able to see the difference in all examples even with the last one that was a joke. There wasn't a scene that I didn't get or started struggle.
It was fun) Thank you
1. Fortunately I’m not struggling with distinguishing colors. That could be a big trouble for me.
2. Yes I could see clearly all the examples given in the video. I even got tricked on the last one!
3. The more you think about something you can do naturally all day makes you getting trouble with it but I had no troubles only need to focus more and every time I guessed right I was happy about it.

Glad to hear you're doing fine. Despite I've never had any kind of color problems I kind of felt like colorblind next to some people, so I'd be kind of opposite of you in that matter :)

Nice work, surely some quality screen can make the task way easier :).
I myself managed to pass it on my smartphone.

Glad you found it fun :), also congrats on passing the task.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
