Week 11 [13.01- 19.01.2020] Drifting in Poland

My favorite motorsport is drifting, unfortunately it is not a very popular sport and not everyone knows it. The low popularity of this sport makes training difficult because there is a small amount of training space. However, despite these difficulties, the Polish driver goes very well and is valued all over the world. I am just building a car as I intend to take part in smaller competitions. I’m building my car in accordance with the specifications of the Polish championships, maybe one day I will be able to  participate in professional competitions.

An example of Polish drivers in Poland is Piotr Więcek. In my opinion, Wiecek is one of
the best drifting drivers in the world. He started in Poland but now he is competing in the
most important European Drift Master European Championship. However, Więcek also
participates in a series of US Formula Drift competitions. He often takes high places on the
podium, including often taking first place. Piotr Więcek is currently one of the most improved
Polish drivers. James Deane rides with him in one team, Deane is definitely one of the most
famous drifting drivers in the world and at the same time the biggest opponent of Piotr Więcek
and although they are friends and are in one team it does not prevent them from competing.
One of the most spectacular competitions last year was the round of the European Drift Master
Championship in Płock. The track prepared at the stadium was very fast and tight, which caused
a lot of excitement.

Competitors from all over Europe came to the competition in Płock, but still Polish drivers dominated
the competition and took the first 3 places. Paweł Borkowski took first place, the second took Piotr
Więcek and the third Grzegorz Hypki. The course of the drifting competition looks like: at first the
best 32 drivers are selected. They make single runs that are scored. Points are awarded as follows:
30 points for tilt accounts, 30 points for speed, 30 points for the line driven by the driver and 10 points
for the show. 32 top drivers are matched in pairs the best driver with the worst. The next pass is made
in pairs, one driver chases the other and has to imitate the car in front of him for the second pass, the
swap takes place and the escaping person chases the driver. The driver, who has gone worse, falls
out of the competition and in this way first and second place is chosen, the drivers who have lost in
the top 4 to the drivers who are fighting for first place compete for third place.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
YES, I have been spending my childhood with NFS Underground II where a lot of drifting was going on. The drifting is fun if it's happening on computer otherwise it's pretty dangerous extreme sport.
2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
As an hobby yes.
3. What do you think about motorsport?
I don't like it as a sport. But the song is good tho.

Of course i do, i've been playing lots of need for speed in my childhood.

I don't know, if anyone is interested in cars than it's obvious for that person that this kind of motorsport exists so i don't see a need in advertising it everywhere.

I like watching F1 and WRC but i'm not crazy about it.
1. A very rewarding discipline, both to watch and to ride in this way. Just like watching rallies is ok, drift competitions are watched with joy. I really like drift, even performing such maneuvers amateur gives a lot of fun.
2. I think drift is a pretty well-recognized sport. Only more sponsors could be interested.
3. Motorsport is a very engaging field that requires a lot of cash. this is probably the biggest problem. However, I had the opportunity to be a few times in kjs competition with a colleague who participated. In general, I recommend everyone to ride a rally car even as a passenger. Then it's easier to understand what's going on.
1. Yes, I heard about drifting. The first time I watched the movie "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift". I think it's an interesting driving style, but it should be practiced on closed racetracks, not on public roads.

2. I don't know if it is such a significant sport that it would be more popular in Poland. In general, it is difficult to qualify motorsport as a real sport, because the result depends largely on the equipment. The better the equipment, the better you are. A good example is F1 racing, where equipment is of great importance. Although there are 20 cars in the rate, only 4 of them are really fighting for victory. Why is this happening? Because the manufacturers of these cars spend the largest sums on development, others cannot afford it. In my opinion, this is not related to sport.
Just because it's dangerous is so unusual, for me games like this are boring because they're not real and there are no such emotions in them. I think it is only when you feel danger that you can feel real life.
Unfortunately, the costs are a problem here, but do I have the translators that every high-level hobby is expensive. :)
Formula 1 now actually depends more on technique but there are other costs. In disciplines where there are not so much costs, it is more about skills than about the correct car setup, which is usually done by the drivers themselves, requires a lot of skill and the physical effort while driving is also great. I recommend to watch the final of the gymkhan grid 2019 competition in Warsaw, where the almost serial mx5 driver from 200 km won with much stronger cars. But I also love drifting, here it's not speed that matters but the ability to control the vehicle and in equal classes cars with 400 km and 1000 km can compete.
1.Of course yes. From amateurs on city streets to professional drivers we have a large cross-section of society. I think this is a very good way to produce the adrenaline that some people cannot live without. It's obviously a dangerous hobby, but that's probably why it's so exciting.

2.Definitely, yes. A lot of people ruin the reputation of drifters by drifting in inappropriate places. If drivers were more careful and a little bit safer, maybe people would start looking at it more favourably, especially the street amateur ones.

3. I would like to see a professional show where you can smell the smell of burnt tyres and see it all up close. It might be interesting to drive such a car as a passenger or driver.
I love motorsports but I can never get drifting. For me it isn't as cool as it seems. And, as every motorsport, it is huge money dump with little earnings if you don't do this on global and professional level.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
I did and in fact I was lucky enough to live in a city where street racing was a real thing. Yes, everybody who played those old Need For Speed games, I have seen this in real life. In real life though, things are not as cool and spectacular as on the computer screen. Cars get crushed, people on the sidewalks get hurt or die. And what affects most of people -- the noise. The roar of the engine, the screeching of tires, and the cheering of the crowd. All of that -- at two A.M. Yep, not quite appealing, isn't it?
2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
It is well known where it should be.
3. What do you think about motorsport?
Dangerous, spectacular, fascinating. Would not ever participate myself but looks cool.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
Of course I heard about drifitng. Playing racing games from an early age was my favorite element. Together with our friends we competed for who will manage to drift for the longest time. Unfortunately, as I grow up, the only drift I see is the one performed by a group of young boys in the parking in front of the hypermarket.

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
I think that if people were interested, it would be more known. And at the moment drift has a very small group of fans compared to other motoring sports.

3. What do you think about motorsport?
Personally, they are not interested enough in motorization. I prefer football and more traditional sports. The only exception is Formula 1 which I like to follow.
1. Of course I've heard about drifting. I think that it is a passion that gives a lot of fun but also requires very high skills from the driver so I think that we should not try it on public roads.
2. I think that many people in Poland know this sport or have heard anything about it. Unfortunately, it is not very popular in Poland because of the high costs of building a drift car.
3. I think that motorsport is very interesting. I am very interested in motorsport myself. Currently, I can't afford to participate in events on the track but I am collecting for this purpose.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
Yes, I have heard about it before but not very much. In my opinion, any hobby has the right to exist, although it is quite dangerous, many people need a dose of adrenaline, so why not, the main thing is to do it in specially designated places and not on public streets.
2. Do you think such sports should be better known?
Honestly, I don't know how to answer that question. I think that those who love cars have heard about it, and those who do not share this hobby are probably not interested in it, so it seems to me that this sport is as much known as needed or possible.
3. What do you think about motorsport?
I think this is very dangerous. But who am I to judge? I think this is just as much a hobby as any other.
1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
Of course I tried, in Bemowo near the landfill. Great fun but not for everyone. I recommend to all automotive fans.

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
No, he isn't short of advertising. It's just not for everyone.

3. What do you think about motorsport?
My dad is a car mechanic so he automatically infected me in a way with interest. Interesting thing, I certainly prefer it than football.

Of course, I heard about drifting, everyone heard about it, just like almost everyone watched the movie Fast and the Furious. Once I even saw street draft and street racing competitions, it was interesting to watch, especially considering the fact that my friends and I were drunk and were there by accident, as it was not a legal race.

I don’t know, it seems to me that drifting is known enough, at least among those who are interested.

In my life I saw only five road crashes and in four of them there were motorcyclists and they all died on the spot. I think my attitude towards motorcycles is obvious.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?

Yes, I have heard about drifting and I really liked in high school. I think it’s one of the stupidest things you can do with a car but I say it in a positive way. Right now, I am not that into that and also I consider drifting in Poland a bit like a poor and “redneckish” version of divisions that have been created abroad, especially in the US and Japan.

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?

I am car guy and I like most of the stuff that are connected to that but I think it’s a very niche sport and it should stay that way. There are many others groups in motorsport which are much more prestigious that also lack interest and they struggle a lot with that and I think that those should be advertised more than drifting.

3. What do you think about motorsport?

I like motorsport a lot and what I really don’t like is other people’s opinion that it’s not a pure sport stating that these guys are not really athletes because they do not have to prepare that much as other sportsmen and women whose sport is more into pure psychical abilities. Truth is that these people also require a lot of physical preparation, have to have a strict diet which allow them to keep fit and appropriate weight as every kilogram counts in motorsport. Apart from that, when you listen to interviews with for example Formula 1 drivers who say that they lose around 4 kilos during one race, tell me that normal person without any preparation would survive after something like that.

1.Sure I’ve heard about drifting.I think most of people heard about it despite official competitions are not as know as the phrase itself. It is an extremely effective sport, fun to watch and entertaining. I would like to have such skills one day and I admire people who do that with such ease.
2.I think it should. It’s an exciting sport and people who do it deserve some bigger attention.
3.I am a big fan of cars and motorsport. I don’t watch drifting competitions but I fallow formula 1 regularly.
1. Yes, I heard about drifting. Drifting races in Need for Speed games was always my favorite type of races. But in "real life" i think that this is very dangerous for the driver and people around him.

2. I don't think so. I don't think such sports should get as much attention as some of them have.

3. I'm not really interested into motorization, so I don't have clear opinion about it. I don't want to talk about things i don't know about.
Unfortunately, some people spoil the reputation, but it is also hard to find places where it can be done legally. I took many days to find the right place. If you want to try it yourself, I recommend this place. https://drifttrackwarszawa.pl/
1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
Although have heard of drifting many times, I don’t really know much about it. I think that it’s really cool and sounds really fun, but I wouldn’t like to try it, maybe not in my car ;)

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
No, I think it’s not a good idea. It’s a dangerous sport, only for people with skills to do it. If it were more popular, more kids would try it without any knowledge how to do it properly, and would probably kill themselves or someone else.

3. What do you think about motorsport?
I’m not really a big fan of motorsport, but my best friend is, and he is forcing me sometimes to watch some races. I think it’s cool, but I find it a little bit boring.
Jakub Kisiała said…
1. Yes! I also personally try.
2. I have no opinion on this topic. Someone who likes such entertainment probably knows about drift.
3. Best of all possible sports.
Mykola Suprun said…
1) Yes, who didn't? I think it is a cool sport, especially to spectate.
2) I don't have a particularly strong opinion on this topic, but as far as I'm aware it is a very well known sport, maybe nowhere near enough to something like football, but most people by far are aware it exists.
3)It is cool, and as far as I'm aware, it spurs a technology development for the automobile industry. Not every sport can brag about such accomplishment.
Marta Matysik said…
1. Of course. I was twice on Tor Słomczyn during the elimination to Drift Poland Championship and I really want to go on „Next Level”. I love it! I like sound of engine in this typ of motosport and it is cool option to spend time with friends.
In Poland we have very short race track so it is not so spectacular, but I think that it’s better than F1 racing where sometimes almost nothing happened.

2. Yes I do. In Poland we know that there are F1 racing and WRC. But in Poland, this will not change quickly, because football is the most important sport. We don't even know much about the sports in which we have successes at a global level.

3. It’s interesting, but I’m not a big fun of it and I’m not spending my time on watching this sport on TV or Internet.
Pawel Bluszcz said…
1. Yes of course I heard about drifting. I think it's a spot like everything else. If there is an element of rivalry, we can talk about sport. If drifting gathers crowd, that’s very nice and I wish this sport the best.
2. No, I don't think it should be more recognizable.
3. For me, motorsports are boring and predictable. Equipment plays a big role, not driver skills. In drift, these proportions are different, but cars are still the most important.
1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
Of course, I heard and I know what drifting is. I live by the forest. Every night someone drifts under my window :(.

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
Well. Those who are interested in him know him well. There are various night events promoting on Facebook. I think you don't have to advertise it better.

3. What do you think about motorsport?
I think it's fun. Fast driving has something exciting and exciting.
1. Yes, I do. I've got friend who is drifting and sometimes he take me to drift with him. He got BMW E46 (coupe). I heard that this is one of the best (in this money) car to drift. I can say it's really exiting to sit in car which slips on road under control.

2. I think big success of countryman should be broadcasted. If we are good in something we should say it loudly.

3. I think it's sport same as any other. It can be a passion for people who love to feel this kind of emotions when they are making this sport

1) Naturally, I have heard about drifting. It is not a very popular sport, but we can spot a amateurs drifters on the street with their old BMW, who thinks that the road is a racing track.

2) I dont think so, it is a sport which is very dangerous and it could provide more accidents.

3) I really like cars, but I think the motorsport is not exciting. I prefer to watch F1, drift is not an interesting thing to watch. I would drift by myself rather than watch it.
1. I did, however not as an isolated spectacle. I have even seen a show once that involved drifting. It was a Formula 1 event at Bemowo's airport, BMW team has come to show off their skills. Unfortunately, Kubica wasn't there but we got a proper show of drifting (with earbuds in our ears!).

2. It is a spectating sport, the atmosphere, in my experience, was very friendly, I don't see why not.

3. My father is a proud F1 fan and we used to watch races together. I appreciate it but I'm not a big enthusiast of watching any sport...
1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?

Sure, I have heard about drifting but I can’t say that I have tried it, at least properly. If pulling a handbrake while turning at a car park with a front wheel drive car counts – yes, I have tried it. I guess, however, that it has nothing to do with proper drifting. Seeing a professionals do it – this is something different. I love it.

2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?

It is an amazing sport. The amount of skill and training drifters need to put into their performances is overwhelming. Such precision and showmanship should be greatly awarded and well known all around the world.

3. What do you think about motorsport?

It is a different kind of sport in comparison to more “athletic” disciplines but it has nothing to be ashamed of. Millions of fans all around the world would agree. Some people even put motorsport above the typical sport, because for them it is much more exciting and fun to watch. I can’t blame them.

1. Have you ever heard of drifting? What do you think of that?
I was drifting non-stop in racing games when I was young but I haven't tried it in real life. When something fun and dangerous does something wrong, it's likely to die
2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
He already knows many car enthusiasts and loves to follow these events in the world or in places he lives
3. What do you think about motorsport?
It is the most enjoyed sport. Especially those made in stone on the mountain are full of aggression and excitement.
1. Yes, I have learned about it first in the Need For Speed: Underground 2 when I was a kid. Then, F&F Tokyo Drift came and I was very impressed.

2. I think that people that were meant to know this sport, already know it.

3. I don't watch motorsport very often, but sometimes I like to watch WRC.

Yes, I have heard about it. Who haven’t seen fast&furious?! Looks extremely awesome when cars are sliding on the road, and steering wheel is turning with crazy speed from left to right. Its not only about driving skills, also about laws of physics. Nowadays artificial intelligence coming into the game almost in every field of life - there are autonomous cars without drivers. And if computer is doing something better there is no logic to compete with computer. Even go champion said, that he leaves professional sport, because of AI.

I like it very much. The poverful RWD car for a couple hours is my dream.
But there is one thing which I do not like, it is when I hear how in the middle of the night some pseudodriffters are driffting under my windows.
2. Do you think that such a sport should be better known?
I think no, this is vell known among the people who like the cars. If someone does not like the cars so why he have to like the drifting.
3. What do you think about motorsport?
What can I think, this is the normal sport disciplin like every other. I have nothing to tell about it.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
