Climate change is a fact, everything we do has an impact on our environment. Our consumption habits emit billions of tons of greenhouse gases, that are the main cause of changes in our climate. Our choices in even seemingly unimportant things as what meat we eat for dinner, have a huge effect on our carbon footprint. Production of some types of food is much better for our environment than the others, but what is the worst food for the climate?

1. Are you surprised that this is the „worst” food for our climate?
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Comments
2. I'm a person who chose a varied diet, a bit of everything. I think that this type of diet is the healthiest for a man and I don’t intend to change my eating habits. I think that you have to approach everything in moderation.
3. The most important thing is to realize that we can give up something. Many of us think that by using electric vehicles we limit greenhouse gas emissions and nobody really says that burning coal guarantees us electricity, so we transfer smog elsewhere. I believe that it’s enough for each of us to be careful not to use water in excess, energy, don’t burn garbage, segregate garbage and then we will see what else we can do. There's strength in the group.
1. I am not surprised that the worst food for our planet is beef. Although I didn't realize that there is a big difference in gas emissions between beef and even pork.
2. Yes, I would be able to change my eating habits. Although I still eat meat and animal products, the way the meat is produced is increasingly discouraging. Besides, it sounds very selfish that we cut down forests to raise animals, it's very unnatural.
3. There are many ways. Modernize factories, primarily in Asia. Use renewable energy sources, stop burning natural resources. As far as our daily habits are concerned, we can limit the use of cars to even bikes, stop a consumerist lifestyle and reduce the purchase of products to a minimum.
2. Yes, I would like to try to change it. We all know how hard it is to change your diet. But for greater good, definitely.
3. Well this topic was answered so many times that I always have negative thoughts about saying the same things all over again. We could stop producing so many unnecesary things that are quite often just bounced to trash. Other thing is changing the production of many things to stop wasting so much water. Start segregating and stop leaving trash everywhere. Try to swap to electric cars and so on... there is a lot of things that we could do but most of us just think that one person won't change a thing.
No, I have read once that producing meat is bad for the environment. But I didn`t know some facts mentioned in the video, for example, such difference in environmental impact indicators. I also was surprised that coffee has a big footprint on ecology.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I am not a vegan and I don`t think I will become it. But I don`t often eat meat in general, so it can be easy for me to choose fish or pork instead of beef. So yes, I can change a little my eating habits to be more environmentally friendly.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I think that the only thing that people can do is just to buy only what you need and in an amount in which you can use it, this applies to food products, cosmetics, and clothing.
Now being an eco-friendly person is very popular. But some people and brands use eco-friendly topics just for hype. For example, I can`t understand why for saving climate there are producing iron tubules for drinks?! Hey, if you really care about the environment just drink from a glass :)
That's what I heard about it. But there are studies that contradict that thesis. Over the past 50 years, the number of cows in the US has fallen from 25 million to 9 million; over the same period, milk production has increased by 60%. Paradoxically, the increase in production contributes to environmental protection, because the so-called carbon footprint of a glass of milk is 2/3 less than 70 years ago. Moreover, crops used for the production of milk and beef (mainly maize) absorb the carbon dioxide produced during the production of milk and meat). Of course, this is quite a big simplification, but some of the gas emitted by the animals absorbs the plants grown for them for feed. As far as methane is concerned, all ruminants together emit 89 million tonnes of methane and 160 million tonnes are emitted by marshland.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I think so. Especially since this food is healthy. It's best to eat products from organic farming. Such gardeners do not use fertilizers or plant protection products. You should eat seasonally appropriate vegetables and fruit, so you can reduce the energy consumption for storing your products. Selecting products from crops that are as close as possible to where you live will reduce transport costs.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Everyone should start with themselves and do everything to protect the environment. The question is too broad
No, I have heard about it long time ago. I am more suprised by chocolate and coffee.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Yes, I already eat more chicken then pork or beef and I try to eat more vegetables but it is a hard process to change your habits, especially when you love meat.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Maybe planting more trees and creating more green zones in cities is the way to go. I would love to live in the city that's more greeny than glassy.
A little bit, even though I knew already that eating meat is not the most environmentally friendly, so I didn't know the distinction between different types of meat.
2.
I think so I don't eat meat that often, and I guess that the situation with global warming might make all of us change our habits, so it's better to do it quicker.
3.
Planting trees, walking/cycling or taking the public transport, buying things that refurbished or second hand.
I am a little bit surprised of that fact.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I am not eating beef every day but i like it and i will still eat it from time to time. Even when some of people will decide to stop eating this it will not change anything. Only when all people would decide to change eating habits to save planet it may be profitable.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I don't think this is possible to stop climate change. There is plenty of ideas right now but you can't say people to save electricity, do not use car or not to buy beef. Probably some new invention which will replace some bad things will be good.
1. Are you surprised that this is the „worst” food for our climate?
I am quite surprised. I haven’t realized that beef could be so devastating.
2. Would you consider changing your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I would certainly do! I don’t like eat meat anyway. The problem is that it is easy to get full of meat nutrition.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
We can be more conserve with using electrical energy. We should always remember to switch the light off when we don’t use them.
No, not surprised. As any business, farms have long ago turned into quantity over quality and safety.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
No, why would I? The first thing I am concerned is my health and diet.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Eliminate corporations.
I am very surprised and disappointed. I will feel guilty each time I eat my favourite food. However, this is worth to know to rescue our palnet, ourselves.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I am thinking about that, however I don`t have a strong will to stop eating what I really like and hazard to our enviroment doesn`t change my mind. I will need to make efforts to stop consuming these products, especially my favourite chocolate.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I think segragating our garbage is the first step and is easy to follow, swapping our gas stove for an electric stove, which will also lower indoor air pollution, unplugging computers, TVs and other electronics when we are not using them, washing clothes in cold water.
2. When it comes to beef or lamb it is not a problem for me because i don’t eat that that often. Bigger problem i would have with not eating cheese.
3. I think that an impact one man have to slow down climate change is very low. Being eco friendly by sorting trash, using public transport or bike, being aware of slow and fast fashion and all the other good staff for climate by one man is not enough. Most of the people on earth should act for the climate but that result is hard to get and it takes time. I think that only radical pro environment government can make a big difference.
2. To be honest, I've just changed my eating habits. I don't want to be environmentally friendly, but I just want to eat healthy food. In addition, holidays are coming, it gets warm, then you probably always have a decrease in appetite for "heavy" dishes :)
3. First, I don't believe that people stop climate change. Secondly, if we want to try, all countries should show solidarity with the arrangements. Otherwise, actions to prevent climate change are pointless. Complete cessation of coal burning, mine closure, waste segregation - these are very difficult, often unprofitable economic decisions, but only such will be effective.
2. I changed my eating habit six months ago and I feel very well with that. I eat meat once a week or less. I didn't eat much fast food, but now I don't eat almost at all.
3. We need start to think as a community not as an unit.
I’m not surprised that this is the „worst” food for our climate. I didn’t know about this, but this is not surprising after all, these are the largest farm animals and therefore need more breeding space.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
No, I would not. I mostly eat chicken and pork and I'm not planning to stop eating meat.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
As the coronavirus showed us, let's lock half the population at home and eliminate half of the cars ... that should help
I have been aware of that for a while now.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I have actually changed my diet a lot because of it. Im eating far less meat that i used to and i have never eaten a lot of it.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Reduce waste emmision, energy consumption. Start live more environmentaly friendly.
I have already heard about it from my best friend's vegetarian girlfriend. Like one of the reasons to become a vegetarian. And they have a lot of them, just believe me.
2. Would you consider changing your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
When all other problems with the environment will be soluted, and it will be the last problem, yeah, maybe. Until such a day, I will eat meat for my pleasure.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I'm not an expert but I think it would be great to prefer public transport or at least carsharing to owning a car.
2. Looking at the graph in the video, I would say that my eating habits are environmentally friendly. But if I was shown some good alternatives so that my eating could become even more environmentally friendly, i would consider changing my habits.
3. There are a lot of ways we can stop climate change. In my mind one of the best thing we can do to stop it is to not travel everywhere by car. If you can, you should use public communication, or a bicycle.
2. To be honest I'm trying to avoid meat as much as I can, I'm trying to improve my eating habits in general.
3. Start to trully care about our planet.
I am surprised that beef is the „worst” food. I didn't expect that. I didn't know that producing beef is so worst to our climate. Very interesting video. I learned something new.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Maybe. I need to think about that. I have some habits and its hard to change it from day to day. It will take some time. If my decision will help our climate then why not to try changing eating habits for more friendly to environment.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I think that we need to reduce producing carbon dioxide to atmosphere by reducing using carbon in our homes. We need to stop cutting trees. All people in the world have to fight for better tomorrow and change their bad habits. We need to use resources that are safe for our climate.
I'm not.
2. Would you consider changing your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Maybe a bit, but still a diet should be mixed.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Use renewable sources of energy.
No. I've already heard that beef and lamb mess up the climate the worst. Vegetarianism wouldn’t be so popular now if a plant-based food was the biggest culprit.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I’ve been thinking about reducing meat consumption, however, completely cutting it out of my diet is not an option. I don’t want to religiously practice vegetarianism. Instead, I would prefer to make educated choices whenever I’m about to eat something.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Switching from a car to using public transport, recycling, saving electricity at home, they all seem like achievable goals to help save our planet. I think that climate change is mostly caused by overpopulation. If the number of humans on Earth keeps on growing, we are doomed. For this reason I don’t want to start a large family.
2. Yep, I think I will try vege burger when the state of burger really feels and tastes like meat. Recently I reduced my meat consumption. I think I can get even better at this.
3. We should stop polluting oceans. At some point there will be not enough whales and other types of marine animals that eat all the algae. Algae also produce a lot of CO2 when it blooms.
2. I did :) I started watching my diet first, later I was able to cut on some foods that are high on the scale. I'm quite pleased with my progress, however, there are foods that I probably won't be able to lay off so easily, mainly coffee. Although there are worse and better brands for the environment so I prefer to pay a little extra rather than feel ashamed.
3. Well, people could try to be less egoistic for starters. I know of some Americans that purposely get rid of filters in their cars and proudly emit a smoke cloud behind them. They say it is their right as an American to execute their freedom to poison the planet. This is so dumb and should be unacceptable. Lately, while watching how people act, especially in the quarantine, I have small hopes for our planet. People are doing a too good job to destroy it.
2. Knowing all this I do try to eat food that is environmentally friendly. I stopped eating meat three years ago and if it's possible I buy products that have "bio" certificates.
3. Recycling of waste is very important as well as reducing or even totally eliminating the use of plastic in everyday life.
2. There is no chance. In India, garbage flows in rivers and I have meat not to eat to save the climate? No.
3. I think you need to start with the main poisoners of the world which is Asia. China must start using more efficient production methods and Indians must stop littering everywhere.
2 / Now, quite a lot of countries are moving and pursuing a philosophy of vegetarianism. And if they find the same normal and teasty, analogue of natural meat to synthetic meat, I think that I could switch to a different diet if the planet’s ecology is at stake.
3 / I think that everyone can contribute to climate improvement. But since not everyone is interested in this problem, our planet is in great danger.
I think that you can start with the banal observance of garbage processing, cleanliness in the streets and the exclusion of harmful transport for the atmosphere. And then, you can help special communities and companies to solve problems.
Yes, I was surprised about the "worst" food for our climate. I was thinking about it, but I haven't checked whether my thoughts were right or not. Thanks for sharing!
2. Would you consider changing your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I think yes, even now I am trying to eat more environmentally friendly food. I am now trying to figure out my diet and which food I should stop eating and which ones I should start lowering the amount I am eating.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I think there is a lot of things, which we can start doing to stop climate change. We could stop using plastic regularly, we should be more waste-free or try to recycle as many things as possible. We could fight with ocean pollution, etc.
2. As I already mentioned my eating habits already are quite environmentally friendly. Of course it could be even better but as a single person I wont change the world by eliminating all bad food mentioned in the video from my diet.
3. There are so many things we can do to stop climate change starting from changing our lifestyles by for example not buying things that we don’t actually need, not taking a car to do small grocery shopping in the nearest shop and small stuff like that.
No, I have seen some documentaries in that subject before. I know that beef production has a disastrous effect on the environment but to be honest I am quite surprised that there are no technological innovations to fight that. People have always eaten beef and maybe we could come up with an idea to lower the gas emissions but still be able to produce beef.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Honestly I would need a big incentive to do so. I rarely choose the products I buy based on their environmental impact. Maybe we need even more campaigns to make people aware of the situation and make everyone care more about the planet.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
I think that saving water and refusing fast fashion could be a good start. Constantly buying new, low-quality clothes makes no sense. The pace at which the fashion changes is ridiculous and we should all step away from the idea that something is 'in' or 'out', we should only buy the things that we really need and we should not buy just to 'own' more and more clothes.
2) Sure, in general, I would never have a problem with changing my diet if there were suitable substitutes. Especially when a change in one ingredient in the kitchen could help with CO2 emissions to such an enormous extent.
3. certainly educating more people about how climate protection is important to us. Especially the youngest ones, because they will be able to have a real impact on something when they grow up. Unfortunately, but on Earth people still live in the belief that the climate catastrophe does not concern them or maybe it will not even reach them and of course they are wrong because it is on our misfortune that we have one planet and we have to share it also with those who do not care about its condition. Many people forget that despite how far people have gone in medicine or technology, we still don't have a lifeboard in the form of another planet.
I'm not suprised by this. I've watched some popular science videos about this.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I already slightly limited amount of meat consumed in week. I don't feel I can do more about this.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Actually we can't do anything about climate change. There are much more powerful institutions and organizations controlling main climate changing components. It's 2020 and we still use gasoline vehicles, why?:)
I am not suprised at all. Actually, I know about it for years and I am preparing for change my diet habits and become wegan. For health, planet and our loved ones - animals.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Yes, I've mentioned it already. It will have benefits not only for me and my health conditions but for our whole planet.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
We can change a variety of our habits like using materiales that are designed for recycling, choosing products made by companies that are responsible to climate and to help our planet by even collecting trashes from public spaces ourselved.
2. From what I saw in the video, it turned out that what I eat on a daily basis is not so bad for the environment. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, I try not to eat sweets so I don't eat so much chocolate. So I don't have to change my eating habits.
3. It seems to me that it is very important for us to realize that everything we do influence the environment. Therefore, we should start with the simplest things, such as reducing water consumption, less waste production and segregation, and reduced energy use. It is best to make in small steps, but consistently.
I wasn't surprised that beef is the "worst" food for the planet, as it needs a lot of resources, but I was surprised about other points described in the video.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I have already changed them a little, but it wasn't a decision, I just don't want to eat meat :)
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Pay attention to resources we use such as bags, clothes, household chemicals, product packaging, etc. We should start with that, care about our planet every day. When demand falls, supply falls too, producers would have to adapt to consumer demands.
Not enough, When i was in my grandmother's village, the food was twice or triple better then in big city. But in Ukraine for example we have the best black earth in the world. That makes food more better.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
I've never take care about this. I feel good and healthy. People use to go to doctor when they feel bad.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
We can talk alot about this, but everybody knows that its just a words and nothing more. The big factories and influential people dont care about such insignificant problems.
I am not surprised because I have long known that beef production costs the most resources and produces the most pollution.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
Yes, unfortunately it is not always possible to change eating habits - e.g. for health reasons.
For example, there are lobbyists of vegetarianism, so-called influencers, who praise vegetarianism on camera and then eat meat because they get sick without supplying nutrients to their organisms.
To be honest, I also tried a vegetarian diet, as I remember well for over half a year - unfortunately I didn't feel well, maybe it wasn't well balanced. However, I do not rule out returning to such a diet.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Personally, I am waiting for mass production of cell meat. As I have mentioned many times, its production has become cheaper from several hundred thousand dollars to several dozen dollars per kilo. iIt is also worth mentioning that you do not harm animals when you produce such food.
The formation of such meat is done by placing the stem cells from the fat or muscles of the animal in a culture medium that feeds the cells, allowing them to grow. The medium is then placed in the bioreactor to support cell growth.
It is estimated that within 2 years the cost of producing such food will drop to $ 20 per kg and will become commonplace.
No, I'm not. I have already known about greenhouse gases produced by cows.
2. Would you consider to change your eating habits to be more environmentally friendly?
If it means to stop eating beef, sheep and dairy products it is not a problem for me. I don't eat these animals' meat at all and I use small amount of dairy products, so it can be said I have already had environmentally friendly eating habits.
3. What other things we can do to stop climate change?
Probably, the best option would be to completely erase human existence and their "footprints". People always think about recycling stuff, GMO or even greater machinery but they forget about some stupid indivuduals. A lot of men still leave rubbish in forests, so we should start with trying to track this type of mankind and teach them that what they do is wrong.
