Week 6 [18.11 - 24.11.2019] Photorealism in 3D rendering

Photorealism is an art genre that got popular around 40 years ago when painters wanted to depict objects as real as possible. Throughout the next years artists got better and better at drawing reality onto canvas. The biggest leap was achieved in movies in late 90s where they would create a scene made out of models and use camera angles and movement to make it look realistic. Even though it looked really good, you could still see that those objects were not real. So after that we developed computer software to enchance or edit images and videos but still it wasn't enough. Then we created special engines to make 3D objects.

Now i want you to look at the image below:

source: https://3das.com

Can you tell the difference? Are you 100% sure without a doubt which one is real and which one is 3D rendered? What about these?

source: www.worldofwaw.com

Which one is real, left or right? Take a moment to make the decision for both comparisons and then proceed to answer.

Okay, are you ready?

In the first comparison correct answer is B. Image A is 3D rendered. In the second one there is no correct answer, both are made in 3D software. If your decision was wrong, do not worry! I couldn't tell the difference too. Most of the ads on television where you see houses or apartments, they are actually not real.
We achieved so much in such short time that it is difficult to imagine what we will be able to make in the future.

So here are my questions:

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

1. No, I haven't, but your post make me think about it and I will look for more information about photorealism.

2. I think that in the field of visual it is. To get more real experience, we can concentrate on things like taste, smell or even touch. Seeing a rough sea is not the same as also feeling the wind.

3. No, I haven't. I'm not very talented in the arts, so I usually don't paint.
1. Yes, I did. In fact, I'm a graphic design student mostly concerned about 3D graphics, so the topic is well known to me. However, I do prefer surrealist work or cartoonish style to be honest.

2. The computers can already count each separated photon, how it reflects from the surface and rereflects and so on. I do think that we are at a peak in terms of visual believability. However, I hope the environment will soon become more realistic, imagine having this scene in virtual reality and be able to touch object (for example: feel pressure in the gloves) or be able to smell the scent of the flowers.

3. Painted? Not really. I tried to make a lizardman once, however, it wasn't quite as realistic as it could be. Although, I did try some realistic renders in my life and they turned out quite good. For instance, I did model and render my apartment before the renovations to see if I like it :)

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
No, i've never been interested in a topic but it really looks cool :D

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
Of course not, we're just starting as a society to discover technology, so i would say that we didn't even start working on 3D

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I don't remember, when i was younger i was drawing a lot but i don't remember painting anything.
Very interesting presentation. Answering your questions:

1. Yes, I was most interested in photorealism in games and renderings, e.g. the interior finishing project.

2. Perhaps, however, I think that we can afford something better. Maybe we just don't have the right skills or programs and tools to recreate reality. It is probably a matter of time before this happens.

3. No, I've never painted anything in my life. I am a terrible painter and I do not want to brag about my hopeless painting talents :)

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
No.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
As you described it - we've been developing in this area for quite some time and like with any other technology that is available my answer will stay the same. Technology is changing rapidly so I believe we will someday be able to recreate even more real 3D environments.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Sure, I think we all had some arts classes or were painting / drawing as a kids but it never was anything spectacular or worth remembering. On everyday basis i don't have contact with art in any way as I'm not talented in those areas.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
I have never been interested in photorealism, but your post is very interesting and I was interested in this subject.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I think our ability to reproduce reality in a 3D environment is very high. However, I think that with such a fast growing number of fields nowadays, this range will also change and improve a lot.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I've never painted anything, I'm afraid I have no artistic ability.
1. I've never been interested in photorealism. However, when I recently played new computer games - I was shocked. The development of graphics cards makes the games look insane. To be honest, it's hard to tell what's real and what's graphics.

2. As I mentioned previous, I already have problems comparing reality with graphics. I believe that we are close to reaching the top in the field of photorealism. However, development continues. Every month, more and more powerful computer components appear that are able to generate better images.

3. Yes I did. I usually painted fences, walls, doors and gutters. I have much more experience in drawing. For a year I was a constructor - I created parts and technical drawings. I used computer software so that I could render the parts I created. I think it was quite an interesting experience.

1. Not really, however I've heared a bit about it, mainly during browsing video games content in the intrnet.

2. I don't think that there is a peak, as I believe what we consider real can be infinitely enchanced. The only limitation is human imagination and state of technology advancement.

3. I've not tried to paint anything since primary school I think. I wouldn't want to hurt the world by painting anything considering my manual abilities.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
Definitely yes. For me, man is first of all the consciousness itself, not the body. And I believe that progress in this direction will allow people with disabilities to live a more saturated life. People who cannot walk in real life will be able to fly in virtual life.
Perhaps even blind people will be able to show this world by recreating it right in their heads. Although something like this is starting to smell like the Matrix.. We will need someONE he he..

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I think no. I'm not sure are we already know our "reality" so well, to completely recreate it. You know, only six wits, maybe it isn't enough.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
No, unfortunately not.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
Well, not really. When it comes to art genres, I'm much more fascinated by all kinds of animations or images that have an original overtones and differ significantly from the real world. Personally, I don't like to look at art that strives to be as realistic as possible, because I see such a picture of the world every day. I prefer abstract and comic styles, more sketched characters, thus smooth but raw animations, such as we can find, for example, in music videos or animations of the Riot Games studio.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
Absolutely not. The technology is constantly moving forward, we are very close to achieving perfection when it comes to recreating virtually 1:1 realistic objects so that they look the same way in virtual reality. However, in this topic, we should not talk only about the technique or technology of creating such objects, but also inventions that will allow to perfectly reflect their realism, I mean, among others, monitors or other display devices, so that we can see with the naked eye that there is no difference.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Yes, I am interested in the art of drawing, I do it very amateurly though, they are various sketches or smaller projects, but whenever possible I try to learn more and more difficult and complicated techniques. I usually draw sketches or various poses of characters from my favorite universes, books, movies, games, or series, and try to color and shade them. Anatomy is always the most difficult challenge for me, because it's very hard to correctly reflect the posture and proportions of the human body.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
I was not passionate about this genre on a professional level. But the process of creating various visual effects, special effects in films, and various manipulations with graphics has always been interesting. Now it is really used so often that people have stopped paying attention to the fact that many elements of everyday life were made using this. Like the advertisement you mentioned.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
Of course not. "We achieved so much in such short time that it is difficult to imagine what we will be able to make in the future." - So you yourself answered your question.
Moreover, even three-dimensional holograms have ceased to amaze people. Probably the next step is the holograms that can be felt by touch. Everything is developing so much that any fantastic idea from this area will soon be realized.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
If we are talking about this area, then all my experience is limited to working in 3D Max. I tried to create small animations as part of an academic course in computer graphics. No more than that. And for my own purposes I didn’t spend time drawing myself. But if drawing engineering objects fits this definition, then I have pretty good experience in this matter.
1. A little bit. On my specialization our university teacher told us about it. How we can implement it in games, how to do it etc.
2. I don't think so. I don't think that there is any peak. Always something can be better. So far it looks really good, but still it can be much better
3. Not really. In high school I drew in a notebook if that counts! And also in elementary school things like knights, dragons etc.
1) I've heard of it but since then I was more like impressed by it then actually interested in for example process of making such works or creating it myself. I find it very useful and admirable but it's not my thing.

2) I suppose it can always get better and better. From one year to another we can observe huge progress in both technology and abilities of 3D creators. As it goes to recreating reality in 3D environment current works on VR technology is perfect example of developing this creations even farther.

3) I was creating numerous works in different techniques since kindergarten. However, I started properly painting somewhere around high school I guess (mostly because to get to my high school I needed to pass practical exam, which was checking my art abilities). It's pretty hard to say "what was it" since I created like.... hundreds of paintings in my life. But I guess mostly main theme is somehow connected with nature.

Very interesting topic.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
Yes, in fact, primarily its usage in videogames. My first game that I played with similar technology was The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, that uses photogrammetry of real objects to put them in game. It came out in 2014 and already looked like the pictures in the presentation. And from that time this technology has only kept growing.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
Not at all, we have other dimensions as well.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Not a painter myself, in fact I cannot even handwrite properly.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?

I have not been interested in this topic before, but the examples you provide are very interesting. To be honest I also didn't know which picture is real.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?

Once we manage to achieve this, maybe something new and even more interesting will come which we are not able to imagine now.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

No. I am not a person with artistic talent.

1. I have never been interested in photorealism, but images in your post seem very cool. It was difficult for me to find the right answer, images were so realistic that I could not even imagine how much time is needed to create one of them with such small details.
2. The technologies have been developed very fast that in the 1980s people could not even imagine that in the future we will create something similar. I think that everything can be improved and the photorealism in 3D rendering also. It just needs the time and the right technologies to be developed.
3. Yes, actually I think that painting is a very difficult skill as it takes a lot of time and affords. I tried to paint in childhood but for sure, I was not made for it :).
Maciej Sadoś said…
1. Interested maybe is too big word for this, but there was a time when I watched some videos online about photorealism and I read about some mechanisms like raytracing, which are connected with how to make such realistic images.
2. Of course not. I believe that this is only the beginning of our way to realistic 3D environments. We've just started to see subperfect examples like those you shown in your presentation and this technologies are going to become better and better as the time goes.
3. As a kid I used to draw a lot but I can't recall if I ever painted any 'real' picture. Certainly I don't want to draw anymore to not hurt the paper :-)
1. Yes, a little. As I play a lot of video games sometimes I like to compare graphic to real life, and newest game are becoming very realistic. I like how 3D renders can fool us into believing that what we are seeing is real.

2. Definitely not. I believe that there is still much more space for improvement and taking in consideration that even without the use of technology, humans can draw or paint super photorealistic pictures, in the future they could become even more realistic.

3. As a kid, I was drawing a lot, mostly something similar to manga and at that time I was a huge fan of anime titled Dragon Ball so I took many inspirations from it. Later on I lost interest in drawing and stopped it.
1. I have never been interested in a topic related to "photorealism", thanks to your article I learned what it was it is exactly.

2. I think so

3. unfortunately not, only in primary school, when I had art :). Whenever I draw, there are sticks and weird shapes

1. A bit, I've seen some photorealistic 3D renders and thought about why it is so difficult to copy the reality. It is very difficult to distinguish the real one, but there is a way to do it easier. You should look for places with light dispertion and places that are not completely shadowed or where shadows interact with each other. Light raytracing is very resource demanding for graphics unit processors, so most engines use hacks that makes light not so realistic but easier to compute. For example, you can find out the real one image if you look at the shadow under the roof of the building.

2. This images are not the example of our maximum possibilities. We already can make the realistic renders, the main problem that rendering such image can take days and weeks but not hours or minutes. It's because we should calculate each ray of the light and it's interaction with other rays and materials it hits, and the materials properties that influence the light such as, for example, reflectivity

3. I like to paint on the real paper, but mostly I try to create anime-like pictures. But I'm not very talented and hardworking to achieve any achievements at art
Ivan Mazuryk said…
1. I've heard about this a couple of times but haven't paid any mind. Although your post about it is quite interesting.

2. Well, there's always room for improvement. Nevertheless, 3D rendered images are looking quite real that it's even hard to distinguish which is real. But we can still improve the process of creating 3D rendered images, to make it faster, easier and so on.

3. Yes, in an art school, many many years ago. I'm totally noob at it.
I am glad that my post made you look more into photorealism. Even if you are not talented in art, you can easily practise drawing some object twice a day. I assure you that you will get your hand skilled very fast. Of course if you're not interested, no one forces you to do that :)
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
I was interested in this type of image when it comes to older history, they let me see the environment and everyday life from before the period of photography.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
If something looks like reality, it's hard to say if it can be improved. However, we are talking about a static image. When it comes to games or animations, I think there are a number of things that can be improved.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I painted figures or landscapes. However, I liked painting cities or buildings, streets the most. Now I don't have time for this, but I will definitely come back to it for hobby purposes.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?

Yes, I have. I am studing at the moment 3D graphics so it is something that actually I have to be interested in. Right now I am at in place where I know that I don't know anything. There is so much to learn about this technique that it makes it even more exciting. I think there are not many things that are equally satisfying as seeing that your artifical environment looks surprisngly real. Unfortunately I have not expirienced such thing... yet.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?

Absolutely not. Every year there is some kind of new technology that makes things from few years earlier look like garbage. Just because we are not able to imagine how would it look like it doesn't mean that it is not on the way.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

Yes, many times but I don't really like it. It is just not for me. I've always prefered to draw than paint. There is something in this whole mess of paint and dirty stains on the floor after the fact that I can't handle
Nice to hear you're in this field of work. I hope that VR environment will be improved in upcoming years too. It would be awesome to feel objects that are not really in our world.
I agree, it may look like it is as far as we can get with visuals now but this is exactly what people thought before and we still improved technology even further than expected. It is interesting how our perception changes with time.
I am happy that it looks cool for you :)
I believe we still have a long way if it goes to developing technology. I really hope I will live to the times where we achieve next milestone in virtual reality.
Fully agreed. Humanity will always seek to improve knowledge and technology at all cost. It would be kind of weird to say we reached peak in anything right now.
Do not be afraid about having a knack for art. It is you that decides when something you made is enough for you. If you would like to draw better just do it on level you can handle right now. After some time you will get used to it and you will certainly get better at it. If not drawing, maybe try 3D software. There are a lot of tutorial out in the internet so it will not be a problem to start.
Maybe i should have used word "drew" instead of painted but if you made some patterns on walls or doors, I am happy to see you had any connection with art.
Computer games right now have amazing graphics. I suggest checking out new upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator, it is mind-blowing.
You should not be bothered with others if it goes about art. You just make something as good as you think it is in your opinion. People very often resign after only few tries because it does not look as good as someone else's creation. If you would like to try drawing/painting just go for it with calm.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
No

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
No, it still needs to use our senses in way that we won't be able to define is this a reality or not.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Yes, my grandmother is a painter and as a kid I get interested by art and tried to paint some paintings.
Creating Virtual Reality like matrix sounds scary. Transfering human consciousness is way ahead of us. Certainly if it was confirmed that it works 100% perfectly, I would gladly check it out. Such experience would probably be mind-blowing.

1. Photorealism in digital productions is very interesting and useful. But Photorealism in paintings for me seems like a waste of someone’s time. I get it, it’s cool, but where is actual art?

2. After true shadows and lightning given by RayTracing technology there are still few things to be developed. Like efficient particle simulation for smoke, liquids and other stuff or for example the same RayTracing could be used on textures instead of using shaders.

3. Yes, painting with oil on large canvas just for fun.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?

Of course, the images and films created using computer techniques are very interesting. They look like images from reality and as if they were captured with a camera. The main way to obtain photorealistic scenes are techniques based on ray tracing.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?

Not really. The technique is constantly advancing. We have better and better possibilities of reproducing reality In a few years the images will probably be even more perfect.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

I have been in contact with painting from an early age. During my education I’ve learned various techniques. For example, I’ve been painting still life or landscapes from your own surroundings in art classes. However, these were only attempts.
I am not very interested in photorealism but I used to be very interested in 3D graphics. In elementary school I attended graphics classes where we worked in 3DS max. Then in college I was introduced to UNITY and tried something but with less enthusiasm. For me, the pinnacle of graphics is to create a man who cannot be distinguished from human being. I haven't met with such a model so I think we haven't reached the peak yet. If you mean painting pictures like Bob Ross, no but I always drew something in class somewhere on the side of the notebook, mainly some things made of geometric figures or some humanoids :p
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
I've heard about it, but I've never read too much about it before. It's fascinating what technological progress we have in this field. Today's ads and movies are amazing and it's hard to distinguish them from the real world.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I think this is not yet the peak of our ability to recreate reality in a 3D environment, but we are already really great. In the future, I believe that they will achieve the peak of their ability to recreate reality in a 3D environment. We are getting closer to perfection every day.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Yes, I used to paint a lot of pictures that were later awarded in national competitions. Usually, it was still life with oil paints. I rather did not undertake to paint people or animals. It was too detailed for me. Sometimes I also processed images in graphic programs.

1.Yes, once I became interested in this and even tried to learn, but I didn’t succeed and soon abandoned my attempts.

2.No, of course not. Science has achieved great results in this area, but I believe that the biggest discoveries and technologies will be only ahead.
Future technologies may well go beyond our perception just like 100 years ago people could not even imagine modern achievements in photorealism.

3.Once upon a time in childhood, I loved to draw trees. Everything else was not very beautiful, but the trees were always very good.

1. No, I haven't. Things like photorealism or computer graphics don't interest me.

2. In my opinion, photorealism has not reached its final stage. For example, real-time photorealism is still not good enough.

3. No, I haven't. I'm not artistically talented and I'm not interested in that.

1. No, I prefer surreal types of graphics - very colorful, eye pleasant and minimalistic.
If I were looking for realism, I would look out the window. This the easiest way to make - make something that exists in real world - boring, the true art is when you can make something that doesn't exist.
2. Of course not. Computer graphics is very complex subject. There are many things that could be improved or developed.
3. Painted - no, I haven't. But I do a lot of drawings in my notebooks, when I'm bored.
1.No, I've never been interested in photorealism, but I've always been fascinated by creating realistic 3D graphics.
2. I believe that we can still do a lot to move reality into a virtual environment.
3. I used to try when I was a child, but I decided that I was not good at it and stopped.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
Never in a way to broaden your knowledge on this subject. The effects are very good but I stop there.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
None of these things, I think we can afford much more, but we need more time and knowledge to do so. I think that soon people will come up with something new in this field.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I painted and drew for many years. Always on paper or canvas with oil paints. I currently do this as a hobby from time to time.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?

It’s impressive, when I encounter photorealistic drawings, paintings or 3D models, but I’m not interested in it on a daily basis. I appreciate the amount of skill and hard work it requires, but I am more of a character design and animation person. What impresses me most is taking abstract drawings and characters and making them life-like and relatable. That’s why I am a huge Disney fan.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?

Considering extremely fast development of science and programs, I think we are able to achieve something more. Nevertheless, right now, the 3D technology is developed to the limit, as we can pack it up in the VR glasses and experience unreal things without even leaving the house. There is also something called ‘Moore’s law’. I states that the number of transistors packed into a computer chip doubles every two years or so. If that’s true, it means that we are facing an exponential growth and we are nowhere near the peak of our abilities.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

I did paint cosmos galaxy few weeks ago. It’s made with acrylic paint and it’s around a square meter. I have also painted a panda bear portrait for my aunt. She is a huge fan of pandas.
1. No, I haven't. I'm not really interested in computer graphics so that's why I wasn't digging into this subject

2. I don't think it's the peak. IT is fast evolving area that it will be improving. It's just the matter of time.

3. As I mentioned in earlier answers, I'm not interested into computer graphics and art overall. Besides things that I had to paint for school I haven't been pianting since then.
1. Not really, but I think it is very intresting topic. To be honest, I didnt realize corectly witch photos are real and witch ones are fake. This advanced technology is not suprising for me, but still I admire the final result. It looks so realistic.

2. No, it can`t be. In my opinion, there is a lot to develop and upragde. I think we can already describe it as advanced technology, but it all changes so fast. For example, When i was 6 I have never imagined about mobile phones looking and working like these days.

3. Yes, a lot. I was studying architecture before IT, so I was drawing a lot. Mostly the buildings and environment. I prefer to use pencil and work on big scale paper. It is still my hobby.

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
hmm, photorealism is good for learning, but I don't think it's the end to the means. I am far more interested in art that can use realism to paint or draw from the imagination than photorealism.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
No, the technology grows everyday i guess there will be much way better in very close future.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Yes, a stickyman with an arm and head and leg, that was sound easy but damn it was amazing, i felt like bob ross when i was painting it.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
No haven’t been interested in photorealism it’s look nice but not for me.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I don’t think this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment, but we are close to this.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I have never painted anything, well if you don’t count my childish scribbles.

1) Unfortunately, I have not been interested in such a topic, but right now, I'd like to learn more about photorealism.
2) I think technology is developing so fast that in a couple of years there will be even more progress in 3D. So it's very difficult for me to say with certainty.
3) I never liked to draw. So I can't answer that question.
Marta Matysik said…
1. No, I haven’t
2. Probably not. Technology is constantly evolving. Now we can put someone face on the other person (some did it with the cartoon Rick and Morty and face of the celebrity). We can use green screen to produce a lot of thinks. So why not?
3. Yes, I have. I was trying to draw the easy pictures form internet.
1. I remember when I saw cinematic from Star Craft 2 (it was 9 years ago) and I was just shock how realistic was that video. After that I started looking for how to create these kind of videos. Unfortunately I'm not talented in such subjects and I give up, but I really like to see new technology demos.

2. I think we are really close, but there are still some small issues. For example photorealism of living creatures specially humans still has problems. In my opinion it's just the matter of short time max of 5 years.

3. As I said before I tried my art skills years ago. I tried to create small environments. However my art skills is not my best side.

I've never looked at it before, but I'm going to do a thorough research in the summer, which is really interesting.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I think it's the last level right now, but of course it won't stay here. Maybe we don't have the right skills, programs and tools to recreate the truth.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I've just painted the walls of the house.
Mykola Suprun said…
1) Yes, I was. In fact, I am. It seems to be a rather exciting topic from both engineering and 3D design standpoint. For example, on the software side, there is a usage of machine learning algorithms to make shadows more consistent with reality.
2) I don't think so. On the one side, it is near impossible to recreate reality down to all details, but on the other side, there is no need to go so far for it to be "good enough".
3)I tried... a lot. It turns out, and I'm awful at painting. So much so, that my painting teacher even recommended me to try myself at boxing, which turned out an excellent recommendation...

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
No, I have never been very interested in this, but in movies it has always been important for me to look as realistic as possible, because otherwise it affects the movie viewing, the brain begins to strain and look for these discrepancies in each frame, which in turn spoils the impression of the movie.

2. Do you think this is a peak of our ability to create reality in a 3D environment?
No. The sky is the limit. So there is always room for development.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Well, when it comes to 2D drawings, then as a kid I loved to draw, especially with a graphite pencil. Of course, not everything came out for me, especially people, but I think that I painted nature beautifully. Especially I was succeeding to drawings of individual parts of plants

1. We have that luck that we live in world of high-end technology and to be honest, whenever I see photorealistic material I am really full of appreciation to the author. It amazes me how well that world we live in can be showed thanks to these renedering programs. Myself actually didn't try it, but after your post I'm might do so.

2. People every year are saying that this what we have is the peak of modern technology and capabilities of computers. Year by year it's the same. And what we are able to do now? VR is even better, 8k is getting more and more popular, people are having troubles to recognize which picture is real. Future is now and it's getting better and better.

3. My painting skills are not so great, every picture which I produced was done in
painting classes at my school. However, I'm really into art and can appreciate every form of it.

1. Of course, I'm interested in photorealism and some new technologies that appear in this branch, but I don't share the desire to achieve photorealism. Everything that I have fun with don't have any photorealistic graphics or don't have any graphics at all.

2. Of course not. It's not even close to what we actually can create. But for now, we lack tools, technologies and computing power to calculate all processes that occur in the real world. With a flow of time, new things will be created and things that were only in our imagination will become real.

3. I mostly created blueprints of architectures and different mechanisms at high school, and this is a peak of my drawing skills. I also have enough skill to make copies of other paintings but it doesn't make much sense as I don't have enough inspiration and imagination to create something new and special.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
Yes. this is my specialization in our school
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
No, I think that the next step (and we are getting ready for it) is to integrate it in our lifes with AR. That should be fun:). I guess that the contact lenses with built in module should work.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
I have been and I am now. I have been doing some work for University if we are talking about modeling but also I am doing some stuff "on side"

1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?
I have never been interested in photorealism. For me hyperrealistic painting is more breathtaking.
2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I don't think that it is a peak. In my opinion, the next step is holographic.
3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
In high school I used to paint still life and fauna, the magic of nature inspires me.
1. Have you ever been interested in photorealism?

To be honest, no. I like to watch some great realistic pictures but never been interested in it very much. I think it depends on my mood and what I what to see, sometimes very realistic pictures, sometimes painting

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in the 3D environment?

I think no. Every day it is evolving and evolving fast. I think in the next 10-15 years we will achieve significant progress in this field and it will be really photorealistic. I think the next step after achieving such photorealism will holograms and holographic pictures.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?

No, I tried to paint something, but it was not interesting and a little bit strange, so I stopped my tries.

Yes, I have ever been interested, it is really cool, I wish I could learn to do it someday.

2. Do you think that this is a peak of our ability to recreate reality in 3D environment?
I guess no, I guess we are just at the beginning of this field, it still needs a long time to go, I am sure it will be better and better in the future, and this really depends on how computer science will develope.

3. Have you ever painted anything? If yes, what was it?
Yes, just some normal portrait painting.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr
