Week 10 [27.05-02.06.2019] Desk for standing and sitting

In the IT industry a lot of work is in front of a computer screen. In the same way, most technology users use computers. As is well known, computers are divided into laptops, desktop computers and a hybrid of laptop with a tablet. There are also all known smartphones. When it comes to the phone, there is not much to say; we can use it everywhere and there are no problems with it. Going further with the ranking of free use, we have a hybrid laptop with a tablet. In this situation, we can use it as a tablet, so everywhere. The problem occurs with touch laptops and ordinary laptops. Where to use the laptop? In bed? On the desk? Or maybe somewhere else? It all depends on your needs. And here comes a very cool solution that is also suitable for stationary computers. A desk where you can adjust the height. Such a desk consists of two legs with special engines. Such equipment also has a special table top under which the cable management is located.
Thanks to such a solution, a person can maintain proper curvature of the spine. The advantages of such a solution are convenience, modern design and most importantly health. The downside is the price, because it's over $ 500. There is a film, where u can take a look on this type of desk:

And now some question for you: 1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting? 2. Would you like to have such a desk? 3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?

1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?
maybe someone prefer to stand at the table, although I have not seen this and don't know where they practice.

2. Would you like to have such a desk?
Of course not, I can't stand long, much less work. My legs are starting to hurt.

3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?
I always look after my health. I did the workplace under myself, even a table to order.
Very often the backache hurts if the chair is uncomfortable.
Thanks for your comment.
I seen that type of desk on YouTube and i think it's cool.
Is there any reason why you don't want to have this desk? Price or maybe you just have cool desk and you don't want to change it?
Don't you think that we should start thinking about our future today?

Thanks for your comment.
This type of desk is cool when u work with computer for a long time. Sometimes it is worth to let the spine rest. And some people prefer standing up completely. Maybe you should train more your legs?
I think it's cool, that your workplace is comfortable for you.
If your chair is bad maybe it's time for changes.
1. I know that some people prefer to stand instead of sitting at work. At one of the workplaces I worked at there was a person who suffered from back pain and he decided to put one desk on the other in order to stand in front of his computer. He said that it increased his productivity, but after a month he asked us for help at putting the desk back on the floor, because the pain didn’t disappear and after all it was not so comfortable.

2. No, even though I have problems with my spine I find it comfortable enough to sit in front of a normal desk without any adjustment. The quality of the seat is much more important.

3. Am I interested in my health? I would say that my level of interest of my health is just normal. I don’t do anything exceptional to keep myself healthy. At my workplace we use ergonomic chairs with adjustable height, backrest, armrests and seat. They are quite comfortable and the only thing I miss is the headrest, which is reserved only for the managers. We call them “managerial headrest”. Well, welcome to the corporation 😊

I had pleasure to work with that kind of desk for some time, and to be blunt they are nice only if u have a lot of space. While having option to rise it and lover it at whim, or even program it to fore you to stand from time to time, they are pain to work around when it comes to cables, mountings etc.
Yes when they become cheaper and i have some more space to use it in i will probably get one.
M work space used to be appropriate for now i have changing period and afterwards ill optimize my work space again to fit my needs and be healthy. For those who work on PC a lot i suggest starting with right, quality chair.
1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?
It's a great solution for people, who work most of the time at the desk! Working for few hours sitting weakens your muscles and you could have problems with blood circulation in your legs. This kind of desk gives you opportunity to change your position frequently.
2. Would you like to have such a desk?
I'd love to! I found this type of the desk in the furniture shop, but it's too expensive for me now, so maybe I'll buy it in the future.
3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?
Since I started working standing up for few hours, I started to think about my healty more often. I think that my workplace should provide us something to sit, even for the while between helping customers. Standing all the time isn't good for you.
1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?
I know this solution and sometimes I use it. I have an electric desk, which, along with my needs, can be set either for sitting height or for free standing work. It is an amazing experience!

2. Would you like to have such a desk?
I do not even have to want - I just have it :)

3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?
As much as possible, I am interested in my health and I am taking care of it. As we are young, we do not think about it anyway, but it is worth realizing that we only have one life as soon as we can.

Yes, of course it is very important what is your desk and how you sit behind it. Especially if this is your main place of work. I been usually caring for my back, because if not sitting properly, it starts to hurt and can lead to problems in the future.
And yes, it is important that the table is the right height for you. But I really do not understand why complicate the process of adjusting the height of the table. After all, this process is quite simple to implement mechanically, without introducing electrical technologies. This is the same, if you embed electronics in chair height adjustments. Yes, it's cool, but it is already works fine anyway)
As i can see you have the same thinking about health. In my opinion we should strat thinking about our future. Anyway thanks for your reply and for your opinion about this idea. I think i will buy this type of desk.
Thanks!
I'm just thinking about this type of desk: "Should i buy it or not?".
Now i know i need a space for it for my comfort.

Let me know if u would know some others tips for this type of desks.
Im totaly agree with you. In my opinion people should start thinking about health. Spine is very important part of our body and this solution can help us to fix it.
Where have you found this ttype of desk? Do you know is it enabled in IKEA?
Good job man! I'm on my way to buy it like you did.
Where have you bought your desk? Should i have special place for it? I mean more than for standard desk?
It's so cool that you are interested in your health!
You are right, that we dont need electrical one. There are desks where you can change position of your desk with special lever; but it's more comfortable in use and u need put some power in it.
I'm proud of you that your health is important for you.
1. An interesting idea but I have never tried and it's hard to say.
2. I would like to try such a desk.
3. No. Definitely not.
1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?
It’s a nice idea but this is not for home use it’s looks like something for office or library. I think that this panel was placed in the wrong place and will break when you will be doing something else like vacuum the carpet or something similar.
2. Would you like to have such a desk?
Maybe at work but at home not necessary and it’s all depends on price of course.
3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?
Only so-so if I don’t spend extra money to buy some additional equipment that will allow you to be maybe a little more healthy
1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?
I think these tables are incredible. Unfortunately, they are expensive and I still can not afford this, but the purchase of it is single-handedly in my plans.

2. Would you like to have such a desk?
Definitely yes. I sometimes get terribly tired of the same height of the working surface. Now the height adjustment of the chair saves me, but it is not very useful. Since the chair should be the same height always, and this height should correspond to your height.

3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?
Yes, I am very interested in my health. I understand that my work will always be at the table. Therefore, now it is worthwhile to attend to the health of your back and other parts of the body that may suffer when constantly sitting.
1. I often hear people say that humans are not made for sitting. Well than apparently we are not made for standing, walking, running or life in general. It’s not the posture that’s unnatural it’s that we are holding it for way too long throughout the day. Sitting is fine so long as you take breaks, but that seems like a nice way for some variety too.
2. Sure I would. Thou with the amount desk space I use, I would need 2 and a side table.
3. My workspace is fine. Admittedly my approach to work hygiene is rather reactive.
In my opinion such desks are really handy for people that like to change their positions while working. Personally if I do about 10 minutes break every hour I can easily work without worrying about feeling poorly also for me chair made most of difference when I started to work daily in front of computer. I think this is a nice gadget but I don't think it's necessary for me, especially when I look at the price. Generally I tend to remember about my position while working but sometimes I got so absorbed that I forgot and start draw forward to the screen but investment in proper chair and developing the habit of making breaks help with my proper position.

1. What do you think about a solution such as a desk for standing and sitting?

I think this is great idea because a lot of my colleagues likes this solution, but I'm personally don't understand how you can work staying and how you can be concentrated this way.

2. Would you like to have such a desk?

As I mentioned above, I don't.

3. Are you interested in your health? Is your workplace appropriate?

I'm interested in my health, and my workplace has appropriate chair, desc, position of monitor, so I can work with minimal harm to my health. Also I try to exercise to make my health better. I think that how I'm living now will influence my health for the rest of my life.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
