Week 10 [27.05-02.06.2019] Electric cars in sport

Privately, I am a fan of combustion cars, especially in the discipline of drifting.I love the sound, look and how internal combustion engine work. Currently, due to the environment, more and more cars with an electric motor are being manufactured. It’s not just about everyday cars, but also sports cars. The technologies of electric motors are still underdeveloped, which means that we use them as an aid to traditional engines. Of course, there are pure electric cars, but they are often too expensive for the majority of society or not very practical for long routes. Combining an electric motor with a traditional one in hybrid cars is a transitional stage and is to ensure lower fuel consumption.  Maybe thanks to that, there will be more fuel for such crazy people as me. The following film is one of the first electric cars created for drifting:

1. What do you think about electric cars?
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

1. What do you think about electric cars?
it's look like a future, better in maintenance, better fuel consumption, i mean u dont need it at all :), better in air pollution.
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
hybrid: Chevrolet- Volt(1-2 gen.), lexus RX350,
electric: i3
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
Right now we have something like i8, Rimac Concept One, E-Tron Coupe in future, E-Pace that on acceleration more faster then sport cars,

1. What do you think about electric cars?
Electric cars are the future for everyday life. But many people buy ordinary cars for the sound of the engine and not so much in the cities of recharging when compared with gas stations.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
No never drove, want to try lgoony BMW i3

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I don't think electric cars will dominate the sport, though I'm not sure. Can electro not so fast transmission is switched as sports cars.
1. They are OK. There are many enthusiasts of this type of drive so I will try to present a slightly different opinion. I will start with the fact that I could easily ride and have fun driving an electric car. The problem for me is the intense creation of demand for electric cars that seems to me a little bit artificial. I've heard reviews that it's better to drive one car long than to replace it with a new one hybrid/electric. The point is that it seems more ecological to use something that has already been produced than buying new one because of the regulations and standards. Carbon footprint and these sort of things.
2. I drove smart and nissan leaf. In both of them I felt like I was driving a smartphone and not a car. But maybe it's not a matter of engine but these specific cars. For me, a electric car that i want to have would look like the following. Body as in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, all just the same without any fancy shapes or tv's on dashboard only difference would be electric drive.
3. Hard to say. If someone comes up with the idea to forbid conventional drives, then probably there will be no way out.

1. What do you think about electric cars?
I like the idea of electric cars and that they are helping to fight with global warming a little. They can save you some money just because electricity tends to be cheaper. I think that electric cars are the future.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

I have never sat in an electric car and I have never been behind a wheel in one of them but I would love to try one day or even buy one myself.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

Right now I highly doubt it but in a few years who knows. I think it is possible because of the technology that we develop nowadays electric cars may be faster and more reliable than normal cars.
Answering your questions:

1. I think that electric cars are a really good idea. Why? Because we should go forward with new innovation and technology. In addition, electric cars eliminate the problem of smog and lobal warming, causing our Earth to become "safer and live longer".

2. Unfortunalety I have never driven an electric car. What a pity! I would really like to try driving an electric car. It would certainly be an unique and cool experience!

3. I do not think that electric cars will dominate car sports, because these are two different types of cars. In my opinion sport car should be sport (fast and unique) and electric car electric (safer and economical).

1. What do you think about electric cars?
As I'm interested in new technologies, I like the idea of electrification in car industry as it push the technology to the future. However, personally I would prefer to have a classic petrol car with every of it's pros and cons. I'm just a car enthusiast and I love an engine's sound and gasoline smell.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
No, I have never driven one but I'm looking forward to try it one day. That instant torque must be outstanding.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I don't think it would dominate it, especially in the near future. But it definitely will have it's place in the motosport world.
We are going to run out of fuel in pretty much close time. Approx. 25 years of oil left with current consumption rate. That means, we are going to switch to fully electric cars way sooner. But, electricity is also going to run out, things are that bad on the planet. Well, compared to oil, electricity that is left will suffice for a some period of time, and hopefully, we will find a solution to that. In any case, it is painfully obvious that petrol cars are to be abandoned and all research and design should go into perfecting electric ones. Just imagine the amount of leftover petrol cars we will have to dispose...
1. What do you think about electric cars?

I do not think a lot about them, haha. But it would be nice if I had tesla f.e....

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

Nope. I drove hybrid Lexus once, but it was not 100% electric car.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

It's hard to say for me, because my knowledge about it equals zero. I guess that electrical cars are a bit faster, but also changing battery would be a problem. Dunno, future will give answer to your question. Cheers!

1. What do you think about electric cars?
As it seems to me today, electric cars are one of the indicators of technical progress. Very often I meet articles about it. A good alternative to a favorable environmental situation. But there are ways to strive for developers, as some sources indicate that their batteries cause environmental damage as well.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
No, I did not try, to be honest.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
It seems to me in the near future they will be inferior to our familiar cars. This is not such an easy task. It will take a lot of time and decisions to make electric batteries surpass fuel engines in power.

Undoubtedly, electric cars are our future. I think that it is necessary to abandon internal combustion engines as soon as possible. In the end, for lovers of engine sound, we can set good acoustics and simulate engine performance : D. I understand that this is not a replacement. And I understand, what is this feeling when you hear the sound of the engine. But we should think about the environment. Elon Musk, a few days ago wrote that his enemies are the owners of black gold, who in every way interfere with it. It is known why, because this is big business, big money. Yes, electric cars are very good, but they are very expensive. I did not drive an electric car because the price is too high. Not so long ago, we can rent an electric car, which I will do in the near future. I think that electric cars should soon completely replace other alternative cars. After all, this is progress.
1. Electric cars are modern, more economic than conventional ones and the only thing which prevents us from switching to them is inefficient way of charging. They are expensive, but that’s mainly because of the low demand. Combustion engines compared to electric are primitive and are not able to convert full amount of chemical energy into work. Electric engine can make use of 99% of the energy.

2. No, I haven’t.

3. That’s possible, but not in the nearest future. I think that it is inevitable that combustion cars are going to disappear from the streets. Not only because of the pollution, but mainly because of the economy of an electric engine.

1. What do you think about electric cars?
Electric cars are our future and our hope. Right now it still can be hard to get one or travel, but I hope in few years it all change for the better.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
No, not yet. But few weeks ago, Innogy made available such a pleasure. And drive an electric car is on my list "to do this summer"

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I think they should, there are many people who wants to be eco but also they love fast, sport cars.

1. What do you think about electric cars?

I don’t really like them as my ideology says that cars have to make any noise. The louder the better 😉. But I think that it is inevitable that at some point in time electric cars will occur more frequently. Maybe they will not dominate petrol-driven cars but they will definitely start pushing other cars from the market. Car companies start developing electric cars more and more and at this point if a car brand doesn’t have an electric model in their model range they lose the development race and customers’ interest.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

No I haven’t and to be honest I am not really interested in it right now.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

I hope not! But right now I am aware of at least one sport series that use electric cars and it is Formula E. Few years back people would laugh about it but it is really developing fast and some people say that it is more pleasant to watch than Formula One. On the other hand F1 also tries to adapt to the changes and current regulations require cars to have a hybrid engine.

Electric cars are the future of personal commute, for now they are too expensive and the combo of fairly low range batteries included and no charging station popularity makes them not so good for anything than city use really.
Yes i have driven Tesla model X.
When it comes to car sports i thing they might dominate only in certain condition's, the promise of instant torque and 0-100% power delivery is nice and all but to reach F1 levels of "usability" in carsports we need to figure out better ways to charge/ swap batteries or make bigger batteries so they can last on the track.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
I hope that they'll become a common thing to use in the future. They're better for the enviroment, but for now they're too expensive for most of the people. I think they'll be cheaper to maintain in few years.
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
Unfortunately not. Maybe I will have a chance in the future.
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I'm not interested in the car sports, so I don't really have an opinion about that. I suppose people prefer old-fashioned cars when it comes to the racing.
What is beautiful in cars is not only better acceleration but also the feelings that cars give and these new designs do not cause me a nice thrill. ;) And as for the ecology, how energy is produced now is a long topic which is better.
The sound of the engine is actually an important matter for some, for example for me. :)
Very good comment, unfortunately I'm afraid that it's going to make cars like smartphones. Personally, I like these projects as people build, for example, electric mx5 which looks like an ordinary car from the outside.
Currently in Poland I'm not sure if electrical technologies are so ecological.
Currently in Poland I'm not sure if electrical technologies are so ecological. But I totally agree that we should follow the new technology, but I think that first we should refine the batteries, produce energy or become interested in hydrogen cars that I think are better.
I understand your approach perfectly, but I think it is too early for electric cars.
Personally, I hope that electric cars will keep classic cars longer for weekend fun.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
It is a great alternative to our environment, thanks to them we are able to improve the quality of our air. In addition, electric cars don't stand out from the traditional ones.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
I haven't this opportunity so far.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
In my opinion, in the distant future, such a possibility exists, however, to make it happen, they must be even more technologically advanced.
I do not know people who would not want free tesla. ;)
not only the production of batteries but also many other parts of such a car is bad for the environment.
Simulation of a classic car by an electric car in my opinion only worsens the situation. I do not mind progress, however, it would be necessary to refine the technologies first. For example, I often make the route 1100km which in a classic car takes less than 10 hours in electric will take me twice as long, additionally I go there for a tent where I do not have electricity.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
Electric cars are certainly much better for our environment and help us breathe fresh air. Of course - this is not the same as combustion cars, but are not changes for the better just taking significant steps?

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
Yes, and it was amazingly interesting and pleasant experience, I expected a lack of power in such cars which turned out to be untrue.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
It's hard to say, but I suspect that with time, more and more races and rallies aimed at electric sports cars will appear.
1. What do you think about electric cars?

I think that’s an inevitable future. Not long from now electric cars will fully replace cars with traditional engines. I like the idea of electric cars because, they do not run on fossil fuel but I’m not sure they are that much environmentally friendly.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

Unfortunately no, I haven’t driven an electric car yet, but I hope in close future I will have an opportunity to drive one.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I’m sure they will, but when? I think that it won’t happen in at least 10 years.
I think electric cars are the future. As you said, they may be underdeveloped right now, but i think in some years, electric motors will take over. Unfortunatelly i didn't have an opportunity to drive an electric car. About sport cars i think it is a little bit different story. I mean, electric motor is more effective and can archieve more than a normal one, but in the long run, i think the soul of a sport car is an engine that screams pushed to the limits. In electric car almost all of sound is artificial and there the driver loses the experience of sport car.
I think that electric cars are awesome. The lack of combustion engine roar is a pity but it has a lot of advantages in different things. Unfortunately, I have never drove an electric car. I have only tried hybrid but only one time and it was very long time ago. As to the electric vehicles I drove a Melex a lot of times, but I don’t know if it counts. I don’t think so that electric cars will dominate car sports because people will always love to hear engine roar or smell benzine fumes in the air. I think there may be different competition for electric and combustion cars but it will never be replaced.
i think electic car are the future of our world, as diesel is slowly being withdraw from the market, cause the pollution it products. No, presonally I've never driven eectric car but I was a passenger, to be honest I don't know if it is enjoable as you don't hear classic engine sound, what is mroe it is dangarous as car if so silent sometimes even pedestrian can not hear it.
I think in the far future sure, but for now petrol ones are better and more efficient.
I fell in love with electric cars. Especially if we are talking about tesla. It's a big step forward. I'm not an expert in cars at all but i know that they are better than non-electric cars. I hope we will have all electric cars in nearest future. Unfortunately i have never ever driven an electric car, but i'm looking forward to drive it in closest future. I don't think that electric cars will dominate car sports. At least not today. Will see what is going to be in next 10-20 years.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
I believe that electronic cars are the transport of the future. I hope that humanity will give up gasoline and the electrical future will soon come.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
Unfortunately not. I did not even have the opportunity to be passengers in an electric car. But I believe that this day will come.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
If, or more precisely, when the engine that exceeds the power of those that exist now will be realized. So yes, I think that electric cars will be able to win races.
1. What do you think about electric cars?
They are our future, but they are still too expensive, and you need too much time to charge them also there is even more electronics in them so I think that they will be more defective and harder to repair and maybe easier to hijack remotely.
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
No, I didn’t I don’t know anyone that have this kind of car.
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
With time... yes. We only just started seriously developing electric cars and there are still many things to improve and with time every car will be electric and only rich, or eccentrics people will drive petrol cars
1. What do you think about electric cars?
Everything is cool but nothing will replace v8+ engine sound. Even this lovely instant torque of a electric motor. Also problem with range and charge time for now is little too much.
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
Yep, only once but it was tesla model s and it was great.
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
Hmmmm, don't know yet. Propably yes, imagine this instant torque in F1 these bolids will fly. The only thing that bothers me is lack of feel of what is going on. In standard car you can feel how engine is working, you get controll with gearbox, you can hear how engine is running. And also crowd won't be as exited when car is almost silent
I don’t like electric cars. It’s nice that cars are becoming more environment-friendly. Yes, I had the opportunity to drive an electric car. It is very quiet and nice to travel. However, I don’t think that it will possible to replace ordinary combustion engines. A lot of people want their car to have its own character and sound.
I believe that this is an old topic in all. The first car was actually a car driven by electricity. However, it was at the end of the XIX century and the then famous battery was the Tesla cell. She did not have high efficiency because the idea quickly fell after patenting the combustion engine. The topic has returned due to the need to find an alternative source of energy for transport. Personally, I am a huge fan of electricity, but I see more opportunities for transport in the hydrogen drive.

I had a lot of things in my life with electric motors, but so far I've only driven an electric scooter.

Electric motors are known for having the largest torque just before the rotational movement. This makes them able to achieve very short times, accelerating the vehicle to hundreds. So it is not such a feat to construct an electric car that will quickly start. This makes the electric cars unattractive due to the lack of technical barriers that people always want to break.
1. What do you think about electric cars?

I think, in the near future, almost everyone will use them. More and more car dealers start working on their electric cars and after some time, I think, there won't be any non-electric car.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

Unfortunately, no. But I want to try them out and hope in future I will drive some of them.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

I think yes. But it will take more time, that for their dominance in everyday life.

I believe that in the future every car will be electric.

No, never.

I don’t think it will happen in near future but, eventually in the future all cars will be fuelled by electricity via solar power. Solar power for the use of driving cars is the best thing we can do for the future of cars. It would be a completely clean and renewable energy. This would make it so we release less carbon into the air.

1. I think they're good city cars - no pollution, very cheap to "refuel", safe, very quiet. That being said I guess they're great for their main purpose (eco friendly commuting)
2. No, but I would like to try
3. Maybe one day but electric cars are not as appealing as sport cars without the raspy sound of the engine. I think, it will be more about the software than the actual driving
1. What do you think about electric cars
I think that it is a great alternative of other car types, as it doesn't throw CO2 away (CO@ causes global warming) and air would be much more cleaner, if all would use electric cars.
2. Have you ever driven an electric car?
Unfortunately, I didn't even driven any car :D
3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?
I'm not sure about that. Electric cars have worse speed parameters, isn't it?
Electric cars are extremely interesting. In my opinion they will replace traditional once on roads. Unfortunately I'm mostly looking on them as form of communication but some designs looks cool and inspiring. I never ride an electric car but I heard they have an amazing torque so 1/4 mile races could be fun. I don't think they will replace traditional engines completely. When it come to motor racing you have plenty of brands so I'm sure they will survive. Right now we have special electric types of racec so we might have special "old styles" oil motor type of races.

1. What do you think about electric cars?

I think that electric cars is future of private transportation, because we should get rid of ICE cars that are so inefficient. Everyone complains that electricity is also produced on power plants from the coal, nuclear other sources, but they don't mention how many energy is wasted when we burn fuel in the engine instead of energy plant. I hope that in 10 years we will use autonomous electric transport.

2. Have you ever driven an electric car?

No I didn't. But I definitely will try.

3. Do you think that electric cars will dominate car sports?

I think so, electric vehicles are more powerful than gasoline ones, and they have zero emission, also they are more secure because of low center of gravity. So I think that car sports will switch to electric vehicles very soon. For example we have formula e.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
