The Seven Summits are the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents. Only approximately 400 people managed to climb all seven peaks. Youngest of them is Jordan Romero who have accomplished this achievement at the age of 15.
On attached image, you can notice nine peaks, one of them (Mauna Kea) was placed as a curio but the other one (Mt. Kosciuszko) is sometimes considered as highest mountain of Australia because some people treat Oceania and Australia as separate continents.

There is no doubt that Mount Everest is the hardest of those seven peaks and it is due to the fact that:
- there is a possible presence of avalanches, falling rocks, and solid ice pieces rolling down,
- there are crevasses which are extremely deep and their top can be covered with snow,
- the weather up there is changing rapidly and after dark temperature can drop to -40 degrees Celsius without the wind-chill,
- 8,000 meters above sea level there is an area called “Death zone”, the air contains so little oxygen that your body literally starts dying.
- Have you ever tried any type of climbing?
- If you could visit one of the summits, which would it be?
- What do you think about people climbing the highest mountains?

I've been to the mountains in Poland and I plan to go there next year. I like climbing but climbing the peaks just for the peaks is pointless in my opinion. I also don't like how the climbers approach the rescuers who risk their lives in any kind of dangerous situations. If they want to climb then do it but they shouldn't involve other people.
I wouldn't climb any of the peaks mentioned here. Human body is not designed to walk 8 thousand meters above the ground. Every mountain gives a satisfaction.
It’s obvious that I’d like to visit Mount Everest but It’s rather impossible so… In more realistic way, I think that the next mountain I will be climbing will be Babia Mountain.
I don’t want to judge anyone but I can say few words. I do appreciate people passions and that they love climbing but there are some borders and I don’t understand people that have families and decide to climb most dangerous mountains. For me it’s somehow irresponsible but as I’ve said I don’t want to judge anyone so it’s only my opinion.
I admire those people. They are passioned about climbing. I hope everyone could find something which would be challenging for himself and makes him happy.
I think, i would try to climb the lowest one - Mt. Kosciuszko.
And what i think about people who climb the highest mountains? Definitely i respect those people, i don't have friends that are did it, but it might be the best feeling in the world, when you are on top of the world. It's a challenge for everyone, but not every person is ready for that challenge.
I like mountains though, one-day walks without too much physical effort could be pretty relaxing and it’s a great way to separate yourself from your daily worries. I heard that the air in the mountains is better too, but I’m not sure is it true.
If I had the opportunity to climb, I would probably like to take a big peak, for example k2 because I'm quite ambitious.
As for people climbing, I admire them and respect them for what they do and how much they can manage for their hobby.
Of course, if I had to choose, I would choose the highest one. Nevertheless, I do not think that I have sufficient condition for such a challenge. Getting such a trip does not jump out for a few days, but months. What's more, it requires a team and money for equipment expenses.
I believe that gaining the highest peaks lies in the nature of man as a conqueror. Nevertheless, very often climbing people rub against death at their own request and can not give up at the right time, which often ends badly.
I think that answer to this question is obvious - mount Everest but frankly speaking I would love anyone of them because it’s always a new experience, new scenery, emotions and feelings. To my mind I love mountains because there are so few people on the top and not only fresh air makes me feel better there :)
I don’t want to judge anyone. It’s choice that they’ve made but they should think not only of themselves. They should always remember that their family(if they have one) are waiting for them.
I would like to see the Himalayas with my own eyes, so I would choose Mount Everest.
On the one hand, I think that it is extremely dangerous and only fool would dare to do it. On the other hand, it is an amazing demonstration of human strength and perseverance so I started to admire these people more and more.
Of course it was beginner level and I was a kid back then and I wouldnt compare it to professional climbing. If I have to choose one of those summits I would try Kościuszko Mountain as it is the lowest and it is most probable to manage.
I have a lot of respect to people who decide to climb to the highest mountains. I really admite their brave and involvement in preparation.
I don't know which I should choose. To be honest I prefer the easiest. Summits of world scare me a lot. I found out to so many people dies because extreme weather conditions.
It's goof. Why? They leave own family and They can never come back to home. I thnik people who climbing the highest mountains are selfish. May they must show someone how they are great?
I would definitely visit Kilimanjaro because it's located in Tanzania with gorgeous nature and unique animals. And it's definitely cheaper and a bit safer than "grand Everest". Conquering such a peak is phenomenal work and serious challenge for the human body and spirit.
Those people have enormous willpower and the highest dedication to climbing. They prove that perseverance and hard work can make anything happen.
I think it would be a Aconcagua, because it not so hard to climb as Everest and it lower than start of Death Zone, but from the top of these mountain one can see the clouds from top.
Climbing the highest mountains is certainly a feat. You must have many equipment, good team, have a fit body and you should be prepared physical.
If I could visit one of the summits it will be probably Kilimanjaro or Mount Everest. Mt. Everest is an obvious choice and Kilimanjaro is beautiful.
People who climb these mountais definitely have a great willpower and passion for mountains. I admire them.
When it comes to all those ppl who go and climb them, they are brave as hell, i dont even know how they manage to climb them with such enormous balls, every step they take can be their last and there is not much they can do about it up there. Ultimate test of their skill and strength.
If I could visit of of the summits I'd probably choose something in North America.
I admire these climbers and their passion. They are preparing for months for one trip, they're know the danger and do it no matter the odds.
The summit I would climb is Mt Kosciuszko as it is the lowest one of them. I’m not well experienced and I think starting from something easier would be much safer.
I don’t have any special opinion about people climbing highest mountains. It’s their hobby, as long as they don’t hurt or put other people in danger it sounds like super fun thing to do.
One day I’d love to climb Kilimanjaro. I’ve seen pictures taken at the top it looks magnificent.
Climbing mountains peaks is extreme sport. It is pushing human body to it’s limits. Is it worth it, I don’t know. Probably if you love mountains as much as they are it is worth it.
Choose only one of the summits is quite hard. I believe everyone’s worth seeing and challenge them would be a great thing. But, personally I would choose Mount Everest. Because it’s the biggest and the most known mountain in the world, I have biggest respect for it and in consequence it seems the most exciting for me.
Climbing in the highest mountains is pretty exciting for sure. Those people have to have insane power and health. I cannot imagine how much work then made before even thinking about climbing. It’s extremely hard for sure, but when you finally achieve something like this, you feel pretty awesome.
People propably try to climb the highest mountains for different reasons, but most of them most likely do it for the challenge. It's not something I would personally do, but if that's what people enjoy, then it's fine - it's propably worth it for them.
Interesting conversation you are having here
For me I never tried this type of climbing, the most I did is trying to run up a hill next to my house in Melbourne and that was the highest thing I climbed.
I like the posted video it’s encouraging, but I also saw videos and movies when things get wrong , how scary these experience could be, is it worth it?
Currently, I can't really say yes or no, I guess I have to try one of the small mountains first and then see.
In my opinion people who climb the highest mountains are very brave and strong physically and mentally.
To get the Moun Everest peak, you need cash and a well-prepared organism. Maybe one day I will be able to get the highest peak in the world. This is definitely one of my dreams.
I love walking in the mountains, but I've never tried climbing with equipment, and I would really like to. People who climb such peaks can say that they fulfill their dreams, but people who do it in the winter and risk their lives and the lives of others are simply crazy.
Of course, my ambitions would be enough for Everest, but first, you need to go through the "school of life" on the lower mountains in order to gain practical skills in using the necessary equipment. Get inspired and mentally prepare for the hard uphill.
From the video, I realized that it captures the spirit when after a long and difficult journey you find yourself at the top of the mountain. Thanks for the video, it was very interesting to watch, and I admire the perseverance and motivation of these people.
If I have to choose one from presented summits I will take the 'Kosciuszko' summit because it seems that is the easiest option. After that I would take next till to Everest :)
As I said, I understand that climbing can be passion but not when you have family. If you are alone you can do everything but what about your wife or/and children? Don't be selfish!
If I would have to choose one of the summits to climb, it would be definitely Mount Everest. It's a summit that I think everyone has heard about. Maybe I think so because I will never go for it.
People that are climbing highest mountains are crazy from some point of view. They very often leave their families having on mind that they may never see each other again because of hobby or passion. I know that these people very often don't think rationally, because they feel like they just have to do it.
By far the highest as it is - Mount Everest and the hardest one I've ever heard of - K2. But I think it's too much of a challenge and I will never try it ... though who knows.
I admire such people, it is an amazing feat. I envy them at the same time and I hope that someday I will be able to enter the big mountains.
I was in mountains several times, but I never claimed higher than 2000m.
If you could visit one of the summits, which would it be?
I definitely would try to climb Elbrus, because it simultaneously challenging and safe. It's challenging because you climb more than 5000 meters, but comparing to the Everest there is no chance to die there.
What do you think about people climbing the highest mountains?
I think that those people like adrenaline in their blood and for me it looks like some sort of addiction, once you tried you will go farther and farther and never stop. But when people never fail, they can forget how dangerous it is. I heard some crazy stories, about pregnant woman climbing Everest. So like in every hobby, you can go too far.
In my opinion it’s fantastic to make things that are potentially impossible for most of people like climbing on so big height and I really would like to visit Mount Everest because it’s the highest point on the Earth.
I really admire people who climb on these dangerous peaks but they never know if they will come back to them family and other relatives people.
Some of the mountains even during summer are extremely dangerous, so it is not only about those climbers trying to reach peaks in the winter.
If I will have an opportunity to visit one of the summits I will deny it. Why? Because it’s very dangerous and it’s foolish to take such risks for your life.
I also recommend you to watch a film - “Everest”. It’s a biographical adventure film directed and produced by Baltasar Kormákur and written by William Nicholson and Simon Beaufoy. Amazing film with an interesting plot. During watching this film you can understand how hard and dangerous is the road to the peak of Everest
