Week 10 [16.12 - 22.12.2019] - Anime has something for everyone

Anime is becoming more and more popular among elder people nowadays. I like anime and have watched a lot of series. Some of them are masterpieces and some are pretty bad. A lot of people consider anime is for children, but they're mistaken. Can we learn something from it and how it correlates with us and our emotions. Please watch a short video about it.

  1. Do you like anime? If not – why?
  2. What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
  3. What kind of animation is your favourite?
  4. Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?

Comments

1. Such as in every medium there are good and bad pieces. I've watched a few anime series and films that made an impact on me and others that were just silly.

2. I would pick death note as a must-see for everybody, however, I enjoyed the most an all-time classic, Princess Mononoke. It's a story about the relations between the human and nature world that begin to crumble. It makes one wonder about their consumption and it teaches to respect and appreciate nature.

3. I cannot just pick one. All of them could be enjoyable for me if they are well done. It mostly depends on how the animation style works with the story. There is one cartoon, quite childish, but smart, that mixes a few styles. The animation is called The Amazing World of Gumball, mostly created as a 2D animation but it also has 3D characters. In addition, there are some realistic images from photos or short videos next to simplified, cartoonish objects and it all works perfectly together. That's why I won't say which style is the best, they all can be if done well.

4. I don't have time to watch many shows nowadays, however, I can see that it usually has some influence on me. When I watch a crime series I tend to observe those little reactions and gestures on people, just like the characters in the show do. When I watch a cute, lovable story I tend to see the world in brighter colours. I probably also notice some of those human-related truths as well, but I currently can't think of any.

I see that every question in your article is about anime and what is my favourite. I haven't watched any anime in my life. I don't know why, I don't really have my opinion about it but I know that many of my friends watch anime and they really like it and advice me to watch it some day. I can't remember any title than Death note? I'm not sure if it is an anime. When it comes to animations I really like the ones in video games and I like to watch some animated series like the adventure time with finn and jake. Its really funny and I guess because of that I like it so much. When it comes to emotions I impress the same ones watching films and cartoons.

I actually do. I think about manga as a cultural equivalent of western cartoons. I used to love watching cartoon network when i was kid. I don't watch it often anymore but i still enjoy doing it.

I used to watch anime and read manga. I enjoyed fairy tail, death note, hellsing is awesome and some obvious positions like dragon ball, naruto or bleach. From less known positions psyren is worth a read. Lately i've watched one man punch on netflix. Apart from that, i love Studio Ghibli with their feature-length animes.

I don't have favourite kind of animation. I think different styles work for different purposes. The nightmare before christmas is awesome stop motion animation but i wouldn't like to watch only stop motion animations. There are cartoons like south park or archer that have odd style that suits them but in other context could be even irritating. It all depends. I usually focus on content and overall feeling rather than particular style.

No i don't. Sometimes you even don't have same feelings while watching two different episodes of same anime/cartoon/serie so i'd really hate to generalize it that way.
1.Do you like anime? If not – why?
I have never been particularly interested in Asian production. I know that many of the fairy tales they have created have a deep story, but I haven't yet convinced myself to check it personally. I have never watched any of Anime cartoons.

2.What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
Since I've never watched anime cartoons, I can't give any title. However, I can give the title of my favorite childhood fairy tale and it is "Lady and the Tramp".

3.What kind of animation is your favourite?
All Disney production, especially older cartoons that were drawn. They have a fantastic, beautiful line that I love to this day.

4.Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
It's very easy for me to get into the story, whether it's a film or a fairy tale. Therefore, answering your question, definitely yes.

I think everyone of us watched a lot of cartoons that were anime as a kid. Nowadays I do not really watch them anymore but I always have a good memories about them.
The most recent anime that i watched a few years ago were 'Fullmetal Alchemist' after my friend have been recommending it to me for quite some time. I have to say i really like it and i'd recommend it further :)
I personally can't stand anime, I trully hate these fake squeeky voices from it and it's impossible for me to watch it.

Unfortunatelly I can't advice any titles from this kind of video productions.

I don;t know which is my favorite but i can tell which i do not like. As a kid i was honestly disgusted by those cartoons from cartoon network channel and it wasn't about a plot, it was about a style of drawing these cartoons which made me sick when i was watching it, for example old scooby doo. I don't know what was that but it feels like a phobia of old cartoons :D even now when i see this drawing style i'm unable to watch it.

I would say that yes, a cartoon can made me imagine a world and immerse me in it in some way.

1.Do you like anime? If not – why?
Yes, I like some kind of anime, for example, I watched Dragon Ball since around 10 years old, and I watch it again and again from time to time, even now I am watching Dragon Ball new season again.

2.What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
I prefer fighting type, and my favourite one of this type is Dragon Ball, I like it so much that I almost never watched any other fighting anime, I think this anime is not only for teenagers but also for all adults.

3.What kind of animation is your favourite?
I prefer fighting kind, actually Dragon Ball is one of a kind in my heart, if you have ever watched it, I would tell you my favourite character is Vegeta.

4.Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
It depends on what kind of media I am watching, if it is not anime or cartoon of some stupid story, then for sure my answer will be yes, and sometimes such anime can motivate me too.

1. Yes, I do. It is something definitely different from "traditional" cinematography. If something is good the form does not matter at all.

2. I've seen quite a lot of them. Some of my favourites would be: death note, death parade, psychopass, attack on titans and code geass.

3. I like a nice line. Animation should be smooth and well done. I really enjoyed the way fate stay night unlimited bladeworks looks like, the animations were just amazing.

4. I think so. As I said before the form doesn't matter. All that matters is quality and the way to pass the story.

1,2. I wouldn’t say I’m this huge, crazy anime fan, but I must admit that every single movie I’ve seen considering this genre (especially when I started to think about being an animator myself) was interesting and breathtaking. I don’t feel qualified to recommend any anime-oriented movies or shorts, but I’ve seen the most popular ones like – Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke and I would recommend them all. I think, I would recommend everything created by Hayao Miyazaki, he was a genius.

If I can recommend something from the world of animation, but not specifically an anime, I would definitely encourage all of you to see the Netflix movie “Klaus”. It’s Christmas climate, beautiful concept arts and the style of animation was worth every second of my life! Seriously! Watch it!

3. If you are asking about my preferable style of animation, I don’t think I have the specific one, but I truly enjoy frame by frame animations, especially the ones created by animation students all around the globe. These shorts have everything – they are witty, beautifully produced, arouse emotions and show how creative people can be, when they now how to transfer their ideas and imagination creations “on the paper”. There can be found amazing movie trailers, fan animated music videos or breathtaking stories, that no one could ever imagine.

4. All these types of productions are basically movies. When the movie is good, the story is credible and specific and I enjoy the production as well as the artistic/visual style of it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cartoon, movie or anime. I always impress same emotions if the movie itself is capable to arouse them.
1. Do you like anime? If not – why?
Yes, I like them why it’s simple they are funny they can show you the story in a way a movie with actors can't do it.
2. What titles you may advice and what are your favorites?
Its hard to advice when you don’t know what kind of genre you like. I liked Spirit Away, Howl's moving castle, One Piece, Death Note and many many more.
3. What kind of animation is your favorite?
I like them all if the story is good, I just don’t like when they change animation style in the middle of series.
4. Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
Form doesn't matter if you like the story it tells.
I don't like anime because I'm just not interested. I don't want to shade something that I haven't seen, so unfortunately I can't answer the rest of the questions. But I guess that a lot of people do not like anime because it is a fairy tale drawn and unnatural characters, and this can not be liked by everyone.

Do you like anime? If not – why?
I don't like anime and everything related to it. Among all my friends who watch anime, there isn't any adequate person.

What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
I never watched anime and in the future I'm not going to watch it either.

What kind of animation is your favourite?
I don't really like modern cartoons, when I was a child they were much better. In childhood, whenever I saw a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or Warner Bros Pictures screen saver on TV, I already knew that the next two hours would be very cool.

Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
Of course not, it's like comparing a car and a bicycle, if I want to plunge into childhood memories or just relax, then I'll watch some cartoon like Tom and Jerry or the Simpsons or something modern like Zootopia. But if I want to watch a complex psychological thriller or detective story, then my choice will be obvious.

1. Do you like anime? If not – why?
I don't watch anime. I know I would love it too much that's why I don't want to start and get involved. I think that all anime series and PS4 games I will make up on my retirement, when I will have huge amount of time and not soo much strength. Roht now I prefer to spend my time on reading books, travelling, learning, spending my time with friends and family.

2. What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
I don't know any titles, sorry.

3. What kind of animation is your favourite?
I don't have any specific one. For me more important is story than animation. I am able to watch movies with really bad animation but great plot without any problem. I treat such movies as work of art and emotions which them arouse or story they tell.

Thank you for your comment. Yeah, "Death Note" is one that everyone has to see once, even if you're not interested in anime overall. But not the Netflix adaptation, it's awful. Also some creations from "Ghibli" studio which were nominated to Oscar like, for example - "Spirited Away" are great.
Mykyta Smirnov said…
Oh yeah, "Lady and the Tramp" was one of my favourite when I was a child. I've continued rewatching on our family VHS player again and again that days.
1. Yes, I like anime. It's weird to write this because I hated anime six months ago, and I was sure I would never watch it. But tastes change, and I'm glad I changed my mind. I think I used to be biased.

2. I like these anime: Death Note, Attack on Titan, Death Parade, In Search of the Divine Recipe, Your April Lie, No Game No Life, Overlord, Log Horizon, Sword Art Online. It's those anime that surprised me with the plot, and I can advise others.

3. I don't have a favorite animation. I think every kind of animation deserves attention and has its fans.

4. Recently I feel more emotions from watching anime. Because of the pronounced emotions, it's very easy to understand anime characters. Besides, the stories in anime are much more interesting and exciting than in the movies.
Mykyta Smirnov said…
Not all anime has "fake squeeky voices", you should give a try to more serious titles like psychologic "Monster" or dramatic "Wolf's Rain". Anime industry has a huge amount of different stories, some of them are childish, some are for teenagers, some for elders and etc. But I'm aware that you might not interested at all and I appreciate this, everyone may have its own opinion and preferences.
1. Not really. I don't like these characters, strange voices etc. Maybe memes, that's the only thing I like in anime
2. I tried to watch Death Note, but I failed. Few my friends recommended me few series, but after few minutes of everyone of them I couldn't watch it anymore.
3. I'm not an animation specialist, but I like animation style like in Tom & Jerry or Shrek. Maybe because I grew up on them? I dunno
4. Of course, it depends on the movie. One movie will make me cry like a little child, and the other one that was supposed to evoke the same emotions on me won't work on me.
Mykyta Smirnov said…
Opinions change, it's common thing, that you think - "I'll never do it", and some day you are in it. I'm glad you like it.
Mykyta Smirnov said…
Thank you for your comment. "Fullmetal Alchemist" is also one of my favourite ones. It has a great symphonic soundtrack, you can find it on the internet and listen to, it's masterpiece. Also characters evolve through the storyline, and always tell us something new and unknown. It's one of the beast I've ever seen, and it's very different from the anime that is produced nowadays.

1.
I am not a huge fan of anime, but I appreciate this genre and I watch anime movies sometimes.

2.
I love Hayao Miyazaki movies and my favorite ones are Spirited Away and Mononoke-hime. They are unique, the characters are amazing as well as the artististic style, music and stories.

3.
Probably I do not have my favorite kind of animation. I live animations in general, both the long ones as well like the short ones (e.g. Tomasz Bagiński productions). I was also impressed by watching My Vincent and if I have to choose, I would choose hand-drawn animations, like the last one or Hayao Miyazaki movies.

4.
I can't categorize emotions into genres. Emotions are the result of many factors and I would say that each and every movie brings a little bit different feel.

I like it. I even have what I watch.
What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
Rick and morty, One punch man
What kind of animation is your favourite?
If the story is good, I like it all, some don't like it when things change or something, but I usually enjoy it.
Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
It depends on the subject, but if it's nice, I'm impressed by whatever variety.

1. No, I don’t. They are too noise, annoying and I don’t like this type of drawing and animation.

2. I don’t like anime, so I don’t know any title.

3. I like Disney’s animation, but the most these which were produced when I was a kid (or older) and I love Bojack Horseman.

4. Watching anime is tiring for me. So I’m trying don’t wasting my time on watching films or cartoons which make me unhappy. But it depends on my humor, cartoons are fun like some comedies. So yes, I probably do.

1. I do like. I think that anime, manga, ranobe is culturally similar to cartoons, comics, and books. They are just different from what we expect to see from these art pieces.

2. I watched tons of anime and, like in everything else, I met good and bad ones. I‌ can list the good ones that are very popular and known: Death Note, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Parade, Parasyte, Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Overlord, Your April lie, JoJo. :P And can list some that are less known: Darker than Black, Code Geass, Broken Sword, Berserk, Guilty Crown, Fate, Soma, Psycho-Pass, Kuroko's Basketball, Seven Deadly Sins, No game No life, Btoom!, Nobless, RWBY, Ajin.

3. I can't say what type of animation I don't like. Every animation has something interesting and exciting. I'm sure every kind of animation will find (or already found) its fan community.

4. I always thought that anime is more impactful on my emotions and feelings than cartoons and films. I think anime better represent its characters' feelings, needs, wishes, thoughts, and life in general. Anime not limited to one or few episodes (like films or cartoons), and they not limited to graphics and visual representation (like films). Cartoons and anime have complete freedom in the visual aspect. Films can't afford it as they have limitations to computing power and proper representation of non-existent elements in the real world. In my humble opinion, films representation of magic and some creatures ridiculous in comparison with anime and cartoons.
I like anime. It may be not my favorite type but still I like it a lot. Well there are few anime that I can recommend like Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist or Attack on Titans. But definitely the best anime I have ever seen is Death Note. It is sooo good because of its story. The ideas there and the plot twists are just incredible. This anime has one of the most interesting and surprising story of all time in my opinion. There was a film made on base of a Death Note anime and I watched it, but it is just terrible. I wish one day there will be a move with this story but made professional. What type of animation I like the most? I would say that I love type of animation that is in Rick and Morty and I really don’t like the one that is in Simpsons for example. Well I can’t really compare films to the rest but emotions while watching anime and cartoons for me are the same.

1. Do you like anime? If not – why?

Yes, I watch. As a child I watched it more often, now I like to come back to them sometimes. They are iconic cartoons, I think my generation grew up on them.

2. What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?

There is so many titles there, but for sure Dragon Ball as a classic. You can watch it and enjoy it at any age to be honest. Right now I am watching Boku no Hero Akademia which is about action and comedy. For some drama I would recommend Your Lie in April, which can take your heart.

3. What kind of animation is your favourite?

I like Anime, but Walt Disney animated films are also soo cool! If I must pick just one I will go with the classic Shrek series, which is perfect in every aspect in my opinion. "Shrek is love, Shrek is life".

4. Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?

Anime is usually inspired by manga and the cartoon is more often created independently. Anime is drawn in a similar style as in the manga, with obvious differences. A cartoon can look almost real and can be a dot and dash. In Anime, emotions are expressed in a similar way, e.g. so-called chibi or mini and simplified versions of anime characters, there are big eyes during big emotions, tears are often blue guardians etc. I think it depends on the script.

1. It's fine. I don't watch any because I don't like spending time watching something (like tv/movies/anime/netflix etc)
2. As a kid I've watched pokemon. A few years ago I watched the whole Naruto (only main story, without fillers).
3. It's hard to say. I like Disney movies and 3d pixar animations.
4. Yes. Naruto is great example - there is a large variety of emotional scenes

1. Yes, I am a fan of watching anime, remember the first anime that I watched as a child was sailor moon.
2. Well, during this time I looked at quite a few titles, everyone has their own tastes in genres, I don’t even know what to recommend, but there are still some anime dramas that I need to see, and these are "Angel Beats!", "Your Name", "Silent Voice. "
3. Well, I don’t have any favorite anime, because I can count a couple of dozen animes that I watched more than once ...)

I do love animes sometimes, but I am not a fan for sure.
What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
Death Note and One punch man was good.
What kind of animation is your favourite?
I like old school, WB. LOONEY TUNES is my favourite cartoons still.
Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
No, not really, but if the story is good I just enjoy it.
Do you like anime? If not – why?
I do not like anime, It seems for me nor so interesting to spend time on. I gave it a try sometimes and I am not telling that this is bad but it is nor for me.
What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
Spirited away - that one I liked the most !
What kind of animation is your favourite?
I like the animation that looks a lot like a trailers from blizzards game as they seem to be very realistic.
Do you impress same emotions while watching films, anime and cartoons?
Of course, for me the form of the film doesnt matter as long as it is well made in a artistic way.
1. I personally don't like anime, but I admit that there are good and bad versions of everything. Every piece of art had good and bad samples such as the case with anime.
2. I like those heroes from Japanese Princess movies where everyone had his or her superpower. Those cartoons really had a lot to offer.
3. I like anime which is nice to look at. Where the hero is like a masterpiece. Otherwise what is the point of making it if not presenting heroes that are better looking than humans on the same role?
4. I still prefer movies. I admit, once again, that anime is interesting. But I am not into cartoons or anime. I like good performance of actors on the screen. This is what causes most of emotions for me.
Do you like anime? If not – why?
I like anime, I like those hyperbolized emotions and bright characters. Also the humor there is cool, not so typical as in the majority of US movies.
What titles you may advice and what are your favourites?
I hasn't watched such a lot of anime to be a pro in that genre, but here are those what I like the most: "Fairy Tail" and "Homeless God".
What kind of animation is your favourite?
I like fantasy with a lot of magic and jokes without any love stories. Also there could be fights :)

Well I’m not a fan of anime. I can’t say that I hate it, cause I’m not, I just have absolutely no opinion on it. I never watched any anime, maybe I’d change my mind if I do.
Well I’d like to hear some advices from you, cause I’ve never watched any :) If there is some title that could make me fall in love with anime - I promise to try it.
I love hand-drawn animation actually. It has more...soul than the typical ones with 3D models. I love cartoons, I’m watching quite a lot, but not anime.
I think I can relate to films more, as in cartoons or animated films the main characters are usually some humanized animals or something, whereas in films there are (usually) humans with more or less relatable emotions and life situations. However, there are some quite good cartoons which are great tear jerkers ;)

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
