Week 10 [16.12 - 22.12.2019] Blockchain – what exactly is it and why do we need it?

Surely you have heard of cryptocurrencies, but have you ever wondered why they have become so popular recently? It has happened because of a technology called blockchain. So, what exactly is it? Blockchain is like a registry that we cannot change. It is an immutable registry that we can trust. Why can we  trust it? Because when a block is made with transactions, it cannot be changed. Data cannot be deleted from the blockchain. We can only update the data in the ledger. In addition, each block is connected to the previous one and the next so-called hash, which is properly secured by the use of cryptography. So, to change data in  the blockchain, you need great computing power, which currently is not available and will not be available for some time.

I once heard about blockchain when cryptocurrencies were popular about a year ago.
I think that this is a very interesting mechanism, which probably can be gently compared to artificial intelligence.
Unfortunately, I do not know other examples of using blockchain. In my free time I will look for more information about it.
Blockchain can definitely change many rules and perceptions of the world. It will definitely be a major revolution in the IT world when someone comes up with how to use it for everyday problems.

I agree with you that blockchain need to solve everyday probles but for now blockchain solutions are very expensive and many commpanies cannot afford to pay that amout of money, even that blokchcain solutions would bring more savings in money because this solutions does not need central authority so many of expanses would be reduced. There are many exapmles of using private blockchain as for e-voting to store votes in blockchain ledgers or soultion called FoodTrust developed by IBM and Walmart.

Yes, I know what blockchain is and I understand how it works.
Blockchain is a revolutionary technology which changes the way we think of many things such as banking, data sharing, IoT...
Currently I'm working in blockchain casino project so that's one of many blockchain use cases. The most important is decentralisation of the internet what will significantly increase security of stored data. I believe it's going to be used in every field of modern life.
Blockchain technology is already changing many aspects of our lives even when we have no idea about it. The technology ensure security of our data because only the user with private key can access the data, but what's more important, there's no longer data owner, so our data isn't stored by third-party institution.

I also believe that blockchain is going to be used in every field of modern life. It is not popular yet in out country but in the next couple of years I think blokchcain will change our country as it has changed other countries (for example Estonia). It is nice to hear that someone works with blockchain. I also work with blockchain technology for about 2 years now and I love it.

Yes I heard about blockchain many times but it was like a trend when bitcoin prices went up. I think it is interesing to see that our currency will be generated by graphics card and it will be stored in digital wallets. I think it could be game changer but right now this technology is not ready yet to go live and be swapped with real money. I don't know any other use of blockchain than in cryptocurrency. What it can change? Well money functionality and it would be much easier so it would benefit our every day life a lot.

I think everyone a little bit connected with technology heard about blockchain. I also heard about it many times and I was even trying to engage in this world but I resigned before I started for no reason. I think this is a really interesting piece of technology and just the idea of pure virtual, digital currency is brilliant. I don't know any other uses of blockchain than cryptocurrencies. Blockchain could change the way we see currecies. It could change the way people think of payments and the whole world of digital payments

Yes, I have heard about blockchain. It's very interesting and hard topic if you would like to go deeper in this technology. Unfortunately I don't know how it works. Maybe in the future I will study a little bit more about it. Moreover I don't know any other examples using blockchain.

Perhaps my answer to all questions will be the same, I don't know. Of course, I heard for the blockchain, but I never went into details and even just wasn't interested in it, the same is the situation with cryptocurrency I was never interested in these things as never used it.

1. Yes, I heard about blockchain as probably almost everyone here. When I first time heard about this it was in context of crypto currencies and of course bitcoin.

2. I think it is a concept that will be extensively used in many different industries in the future. Medicine, transport and banking are only a few that will probably adopt blockchain as a technology of storing distributed data.

3. No I don't know any specific examples yet.

4. I am not sure. Blockchain is still not extensively adopted in the industry so it is hard to say. In my opinion an avarage user of banking portals won't feel a big difference in user experience.
I think blockchain is an incredibly powerful technology that will dominate in the future in terms of processing and collecting unchanged data. As presented in the film, blockchain appears in contracts, medical records or tax systems. This is the future.

Have you ever heard about blockchain?
Yes i have heard but i have never take a closer look on it and didnt buy any blockchain currency.

What do you think about blockchain?
It seems like very interesting topic but i also think that there is a lot more than was said in the video. The basic concept seems prety simple but i guess its very complicated.

Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?
No. I havent heard any usege of blockchain different than cryptocurrency

What can blockchain change in our lives?
Maybe it will change the way we pay and earn. First it was barter, later small pices of gold, later coins, later bills, later money, and now we have credit cards. Who knows maybe cryptocurrency is next.

Have you ever heard about blockchain?
Yes, I have heard about blockchain but I didn't get into this technology too deep.

What do you think about blockchain?
In my opinion, it is a revolution in internet security. The idea of blockchain and decentralization might be used in a various fields in the further future.

Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?
Beyond this presented in the video, I would say that this technology should be adapted in vote systems. I know that Estonia, as the only country in Europe, implemented polling online and I am wondering if they used blockchain technology to achieve that.

What can blockchain change in our lives?
I can't even imagine what blockchain might bring to our lives in the future. Maybe governments will start emitting their own cryptocurrencies which eventually replace the traditional money?
1. Yes, I think that at this point everyone has heard of blockchain.

2. I believe that it is overhyped and it only finds its usage in very specific environments. There is no point in implementing it everywhere.

3. As I am not interested in blockchain, I cannot give any other examples.

4. I can't think of any usage for its technology other than financial environments.

1. Have you ever heard about blockchain?

Yes, I heard it but I haven't been interested in it so far. First thing that comes to my mind connected with blockchains are bitcoins.

2. What do you think about blockchain?

I watched the movie and I have to say, that it intrigued me a bit. This can be very promising in various economic branches for sure.

3. Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?

No, like I mentioned before I was not interested in this before so I cannot speak on this topic.

4. What can blockchain change in our lives?

Crypto currency is the future, our payments have undergone huge evaluations for many generations. Perhaps in a moment we will pay in the aforementioned way.

Have you ever heard about blockchain?
Yes I heard. When the Cryptocurrency became famous, I researched what it was.
What do you think about blockchain?
A robust and handy system that can be used in many places in the future
Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?
I've heard something. They wanted to set up the internet infrastructure in Germany with a blockchain and a group of academics was established. But the hard part was that everything had to be recognized and written again. Like what is jpeg. So I heard it would take a lot of time, but if it were done, it would accelerate too much.
What can blockchain change in our lives?
I have no idea.

1) Of course, I did. Unless you were living under the rock for the last six or so years, there is no way you didn't.
2)An interesting technology. It solves some problems, like decentralizing data storage, but also creates a lot of other problems.
3)Yes, there are social networks, databases, and even video-hosting services based on blockchain.
4)Hard to say yet. I bet in five or so years when it would become obvious where exactly the limitations of this technology lay, we can return to this question.

Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?
Nowadays when you tell blockchain first people will think about cryptocurrencies, but there are many other usecases like video games, financial industries like banks and many other as described above.

What can blockchain change in our lives?
Future is now, it will probably taken by curriencies within 100 years from now.

Have you ever heard about blockchain?

What do you think about blockchain?
It is really cool technology and futuristic. When I first heard about it I was really impressed how someone created a way of transfering virtual money without using third part companies which are banks.

Do you know any examples of using blockchain except cryptocurrencies?
No, I never heard about any other examples but as I can think about something I would tell that it could be usefull in transfering files in some way.

What can blockchain change in our lives?
It can make as indepented from third party organizations that supports our transactions. This is really dangerous subject for bank institutions as they are those third party org.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
