Week 6 [19-25.11.18] Smartphone vs “advanced” camera – what’s Your choice

It’s 2018, and You can take a photo with almost any device. The TIME’s magazine cover photo has been shot using iPhone, any modern smartphone can produce an image with better quality than a few years old professional DSLR.  Should You still consider buying DSLR/Mirrorless camera to capture Your holiday and family ? Can You recognize which of the photos bellow was taken with a pro camera, and which with an Iphone ?

https://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/styles/xlarge/public/field/image/2017/11/iphone-x-dslr-camera-comp-02.jpeg?itok=N94PjG1p

Let’s have a look at the price - a modern smartphone with a “top level” camera costs about 3000 PLN ! A Huge amount  of money for a phone, right ? Please consider that this device also has a great camera, which produces amazing photos without any postprocessing ( auto-HDR is an awesome feature ), and their quality is  good enough for printing standard 10x15 cm prints for your album. For this price You can also record 4K  video, create a time-lapse without any effort, and share it with all Your family and friends. This device weights probably about 200g, and You always have it in Your pocket.
On the other hand,  You can buy “an advanced” DSLR or mirrorless camera – prices start from …2000 PLN. You might think it will be cheaper than a smartphone, but think about one universal lens for all-around shooting – next 1000 PLN expense. Your equipment already weighs 1kg.  Add a bag to it – You are carrying  1.5kg. Oh, You have a bag ? Unfortunately You will have to pay for extra luggage when flying low-cost airlines. Be aware that this camera won’t produce outstanding pictures without further postprocessing – and software also costs.
It’s interesting how photography evolved and how good results can be achieved without “professional” gear. If You are keen on photography or you treat it more seriously, You will probably still choose DSLR/mirrorless, but I think that smartphones will slowly replace the market of cheap and amateur cameras.

Questions:
  1. What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?
  2.   Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
  3. Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?

What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?
For holiday photography I choose action camera and smartphone this is the set I'm satisfied with.

Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Yes, I can recognize most of the pictures taken with a smartphone because they are most of the time in lower resolution and in much worse quality than those professional ones.

Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?
I prefer to watch photographs on the TV screen or at least on the PC screen. On a larger screen, it is easier to perceive more details.
Actually, I am one of the few people that do not take photos at all. Almost. If you will go through my camera roll, you will find some book pages, blueprints, some programming code (yes, I take photos of chunks of code when I am not working on my pc, thus do not have an access to my GitHub, and I do not log in in other people's devices), some electrical circuit blueprints, etc, etc. I just do not see any sense in taking photos of me/my family. In fact, when we are hanging out, someone else always does so. For me an ability to take photo is very important -- it is more that a powerful utility! I can save some ad i saw on a bulletin board, take a shot of a schedule of a certain office at the university/job. It simply replaced writing something in the notebook, and it is more than awesome. Do I need a pro camera for that? No.

For holiday photography I often use my action camera with all gadgets and gimbal for recording, SLR camera for taking photos and my smartphone for everything because sometimes there is no time to grab camera. I’ve decided to go that way because I’ve bought smartphone which has good performance and battery but camera is lame so I only use it when I really need to. Sometimes I’m able to recognize pictures because some people still use phones like mine with low camera quality but generally all pictures are good quality nowadays. I often watch photos on my smartphone but I also like to watch them on pc/tv to get back to holiday times.

I’m not a fan of photography and I wouldn’t spend any money on professional or semi-professional gear. Moreover I don’t care what camera is assembled in smartphones as I rarely use them to take photos and even if then the quality is already satisfactory to me. Regarding recognition of pictures taken by different devices I see some minor quality dissimilarities, but as I said previously it doesn’t bother my perception of the content.

1. What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?

My choice for holiday photography is my smartphone. I've never been a big fan of photography, but when I was in Japan I was shocked how great photos this device does. It was the first time I made some more creative photos with many details and they look amazing(instagram.com/dams_k7 :D).

2. Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Yes, in many cases I can recognize it. It would be harder with some of the newest smartphones, because their cameras are incredible too.

3. Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?

Usually I watch them on my smartphone, but sometimes I do it on my laptop too. To be honest - photos are still lookin great on bigger screen ;).
You are right, for Your needs smartphone is enough . I'm also taking a lot of code snippets screenshots - I wish there would be a tool, which could paste the code in Your IDE based on photo.
Thank You for providing the link to Your Instagram - cool photos ! Right, photos from modern camers looks amazing - amount of details and sharpness is surprising

I invested in my new iPhone =D I find it easier to take a 200 gram always than 2 kilograms but rare.

2.Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Professional photographers will see the difference. But ordinary people, especially if the photo is processed in photoshop and Lightroom will be difficult to distinguish. And social networks greatly reduce the quality of photos.

3.Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?
I look at all my devices, especially if I want to upload a photo to social networks to look at the quality.

I wanted to buy a professional camera but after buying a new phone I'm really satisfied with it's camera. I guess that if I will start doing more photos or start my own instagram account or start my youtube channel I will have to by a camera. I use GoPro Hero 5 for some adventure and adrenaline shoots but I don't think that it is a professional caamera.
It has some nice features like video stabilization and it's small but it is not making better pictures then my phone.

Sometimes it's visible when a video or picture was done by a phone camera but in most situations it's really hard to see because you don't often make long view shots or something like that and you don't look for smallest details. Another thing that image can be in bad quality and it doesn't help either.

I watch many youtubers that make professional photos or videos in high quality. I follow few guys on instagram that does photography professionaly and few of them are even from Poland. Love to see some beautiful shoots in the morning. It gives you feeling in how beautiful world you are living in.

I would say that I am kind of the person that like to have everything in one place(or one thing in this case). I know that single responsibility is one of the main principles in Computer Science but come on we are living in 2018. I don’t want to buy a special camera for holiday photography, another one for vacation, 2 different for climbing a mountain(depending on the height) and 1 more for selfies. I just want to have outstanding camera in my smartphone because as you’ve said "it’s always in my pocket".

I am not a professional photographer and I am not so good at postprocessing that’s why my choice will stay for smartphone camera. As you’ve said nowadays smartphones make so good shots that it’s really hard to distinguish whether it was made with professional gear or brand new iphone.

2. Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Generally yes, because most of people using Instagram/Facebook have no idea(as well as I) about postprocessing and the pros use it quite often that’s why in this particular moment it’s not hard to recognize them.

3.Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?

Once a year while cleaning all garbage on my computer I look through the pictures on TV but mostly mobile devices.
Nice photo, indeed. In my opinion even the newest smartphones are a lot worse than good camera, but that's just my opinion. Also I think that social network websites like Facebook post your photos with poor quality, but that's something normal.
I’ve never had any kind of dedicated camera. I started taking pictures when I got my first phone in the high school. It was Sony Ericsson k800i with 3.2 Mpx camera and it was able to take really amazing pictures. They were similar to pictures which my parents were taking with their normal cameras, that is why I’ve never wanted such “professional” gear. Although I am aware that for certain kind of photos dedicated device is better. Most important disadvantage of smartphone is very limited optics. Because of that, it is harder to take photos in “bad” light or taking macro photos.
For me both pictures presented in the article are equally good. They are a little bit different, but I cannot say which is “worse”. However I am not interested in photography, so maybe I am not able to recognize good photo.
I usually watch my photos on PC or on phone. My current smartphone have so high resolution camera that I cannot see any defects or pixels even on PC screen.

I would definitely choose a smartphone as I don't know how to use this professional cameras. Additionally I think I wouldn't really care that much when it comes to holiday photos, those taken with a smartphone would totally satisfy me. Smartphones nowadays can make good photos and for me they are in most cases good enough.
I guess that Instagram or Facebook downgrade a bit quality of uploaded photos, so in this case it would be indeed hard to tell. So again, we come to the conclusion that a good smartphone is enough for taking photos nowadays.

1. I have never been interested in photography, that’s why I don’t even have proper DSLR camera. For holidays and other occasions smartphone camera suits my needs just fine.
2. I think that I can tell a difference between picture taken with a smartphone and one taken with e.g.: DSLR camera. Pictures taken with smartphones have lower quality and are often dark, additionally colors are not so vibrant compared to pictures taken with professional camera.
3. I usually browse my photos on my smartphone, but when I want to show them to other people I use TV for displaying them.
I wanted to say exact same thing. I'm rarerly ever taking photos. When im on holiday, on fancy diner etc. i almost never have a need to do so. Esspecialy i can't understand need to share it online with everyone. I just Like having those special moments just for myself. Still it is very important to have possibility to catch some moment. The one i can gets to my head instantly is to make a photo where you have parked your car in shopping centers.

I don't buy cameras. I think that the phones on the phones are great. At least for me. Professionals certainly prefer to choose better equipment, because they know it but I can't see the difference.

I can't recognize. The photos from the phones are amazing now and from year to year are better.

Rather only on mobile devices.

For holiday photography I choose my smartphone camera. These days, the cameras in our smartphones are as good as the middle price "advance" camera. Most of the people do not use the advanced settings in their smartphones and they do not realize how great pictures they can make.

It depends on the photo and the person that made the picture. The professional photographer can take the picture using the smartphone camera so good, that we will think the professional gear was used. Sometimes it's hard to recognize what equipment was used.

I hardly never used my tv to watch photos. I usually use a smartphone or laptop to do so. It's much more comfortable...
Unknown said…
I'm not into the photography that much, so I am satisfied with my smartphone.
Sometimes it is easy to spot the difference, sometimes it is not. It depends on how many filters were used on the photo :)
I use my smartphone mostly to watch photos. Sometimes I use my PC. Sometimes, my family use TV to watch photos from vacations.
1. One holiday I have chosen the big SLR. While photos were great and have many details, I think I will not do it again. As you have written the weigh is quite a problem and constant looking after the additional equipment is also annoying. While phone is always with you and always can be brought to capture the moment. Also post processing makes big difference. On the phone it is done in the same moment, so most of the time photos looks better there. Where in standard photography you have to spend time to accomplish the same results
2. No. The one you have provided is hard to determine. The easiest ones probably are done by GoPro and other wide lenses cameras. It is not so common in phone market yet
3. I do it on both smartphones and PC. Depending from the situation
I do make a few photos and usually don't mind much about quality or other things, i think that you should show yourself the way you are instead of some prettified picture of self. I usually cannot make a difference between a pro camera and smartphone unless the difference is stark and a photographers had a huge skill gap too. I watch photograph anywhere when for some weird reason i need to.

I’ll better choose smartphone than professional camera. I’m not making professional art shots, more often I use camera on my smartphone to capture some important notes, making photo of some documents. I hadn’t great camera on my smartphone, but it’s enough for me and I satisfied with results of my camera photo.
No, it’s hard for me. Nowadays smartphone cameras takes photo in great resolution and I have 1366x768 on my laptop and 1280×720 on my smartphone and I can’t see the difference between professional camera shots and smartphone shots on my devices. Yes, I’m using Instagram and almost all photos looks good on my devices.
More often I use smartphone to watch photos than PC. I use PC for watching photos when I need to check some documents or when I want change wallpapers on desktop.

For my holiday photography I more often use smartphone but sometimes I would like to make photos on pro camera. Just because I can not improvise in such way with smartphone like I could with camera and despite on my experiments it makes good quality photo. But cameraphone is much convenient then all camera equipment to carry around. Everything about photos is a memory. Even photos made on film camera have some issues with quality but that photos are have unique way of looking.
Yes I can, I can see the difference between photo made on phone and photo made on camera. Resolution of the last one is much better then first one. To start.
I can watch photos on whatever device I want to, it basically depends on situation.

I took photos very rarely because when I pose on camera I have feeling that I'm trying to seem better than I am. It's really strange and frustrated. Almost the same with photos of nature, travelling, food etc. on your Instagram. People do not make photos for themselves. They are trying to show to whole World that they have special and interesting life that quite often is not true.

Returning to the subject usually I watch photos by using my phone and I couldn't recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone because I don't really care. If photo is good, it doesn't matter.

My choice for holiday photography is my iPhone and a GoPro. I used to travel with a DSLR but it wasn't comfortable to move around with it. With my smartphone, I can take good quality photos and record 4k videos so it's awesome that such a small device gives me that big possibilities.

I'm not a professional and I don't take too much care to details. If the photo simply looks good then it doesn't matter what it was taken with. Anyway, it's obvious that you can take bad pictures with good DSLR and awesome video with a smartphone. Social media compress the stuff enough much that it's not easy to say what the photo was taken with.

I watch my photos mainly on a smartphone or laptop. Sometimes when I want to show let's say my holiday to my friends then I put on the tv. I don't print photos too often.

I think that these days phones really make amazing photos and I do not need to buy any professional equipment.
I can not distinguish it, especially when all people are processing pictures and adding many things to them.
Sometimes I see a picture in a family album when they are, for example, holidays and we remember certain periods
Pc the most, most often when I rip photos from the phone, and then review them. I also do not always use a smartphone or tablet.
Unknown said…
I'm not that into taking photos so for me buying expensive photo cameras and other gears is not a priority. I even rarely take pictures with my phone so I think it doesn't have much sense for me to buy iPhone or Pixel phone neither.
Most of the time I don't really pay attention to the quality of the photo because on social media people use all kind of "heavy" photo editing starting from filters and color correction so I don't even bother myself with this question.
Usually on mobile devices but sometimes on laptop and TV too.
1. What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?
My phone don't have very good camera so I always have to take my photo camera with me. It is not very "professional" but it takes better photos than my phone.
2. Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
No, I can't recognize it in most of a cases especially when a lot of filters where added.
3. Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?
I prefere watching them on PC cause the screen is bigger and you can really see the details. I don't watch them on mobile phone or tablet.
Unknown said…
My choice is always the phone. If I need professional pictures, beautiful, high quality, and processed in photoshop, I will choose a photographer who understands images. I have a DSLR camera, but I use it very rarely because it's heavy and not always want to take it with you when you always have your phone. Mobile phone, can I process in Lightroom and they are no worse than on the camera.
I think that I could see only photos that were made by professional.
Yes. It happens that I can review old photos, they are stored on the computer. Or watch a photo on your computer that was only made because of the resolution on the monitor better. And I love printing photos because you can view them without a computer. On the phone, I usually look at photos from social networks.

First of all I am not professional photographer and I am not interesting in it. In my opinion best smartphones can make very good photos and can replace a lot of devices like camera.

Nowadays it’s difficult to distinguish such pictures and I can’t say that. As I have already mentioned I am not professional in this kind of technology.

I watch photographs only on my mobile devices. Sometimes I can watch something on my computer but it has to be very unique situation.

What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?
I like the smartphone photos. I have a professional camera with two lenses. However, I am not a professional photographer, and I don't see many differences between smartphone and camera photos. The smartphone is still close, it is charged, it's small. The camera is vast; it's not flexibility for all activities, e.g. powerboat advantage.
Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
No, I am not an expert. However, sometimes photos are very unnatural, especially with colour balance, temperature. I see a lot of new software with AI technology supports smartphone's users to correct pictures professionally. I think we will have more problems to recognise if the picture is a fake.
Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets?
Yes. We more often use digital pictures than paper. It's a reason why we change the platform.
Do you use any software for photos?
Unknown said…
1. I'm satisfied with the pictures taken with my smartphone, therefore I find it unnecessary to invest in "professional" gear.

2. Yes. Mostly because of the resolution they were taken in.

3. The pictures that I took I watch only on the device I took them with, which is my smartphone. Photographs taken by others I watch mostly via social media which is either on PC or my smartphone.
My iphone does a good job while i make photos, i didnt invest any money for "professional" gear and i'm fully satisfied with my iphone's result of making photos.
I'm not an eagle-eye person, who knows a lot about photography. Unfortunately, i think that i will not discern differencies if 2 photos will have a good quality. What about instagram or facebook, all the social medias are spoiling quality of photos.
If i want to share pictures with my parents, ofc i will show them on a big screen so they can feel the atmosphere, but it happens seldom.
For holiday photography definitely my choice is smartphone camera. First of all I always feel uncomfortable when I have to carry around with me something expensive other than my phone. There is always a big risk of loosing this device due to a lot of difference situations like theft or me just loosing it. As well I am not a photographer and I don't really know how to make professional photos so I prefer to let my smartphone do the work for me and the results are more then enough for me. When I browse social media these days at first glance I can't really tell if photo was taken by pro camera or just a phone, maybe after closer examination I could tell the difference. I watch photographs usually on a mobile device or my PC but sometimes on my TV as well and still smartphone photos looks great even on big TV screen.
1.What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone?
The currently present smartphones have cameras which should fully satisfy an amateur. In my opinion the gear starts to matter when there are bigger resolution photos needed, so that they are not pixeled out. But for everyday use I, personally, do not need an advanced camera.
2.Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Thanks to the amount of filters and various programs allowing us to adjust the quality and overall final effect it is hard for an inexperienced person to recognize which picture is taken with what. From what I know, there are some lens that allow the photographers to take photos which are brighter than human eyes can see, perhaps such photos could be easier to recognize, but how would I know if I cannot see that bright :)
3.Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?
It really depends. Most of the times I scroll through social media on my phone, but from time to time, while browsing internet on the PC I get to watch them in higher resolutions.
I've been using iPhones for the last five years and I absolutely satisfied with the camera quality ( not with old generations ). As it was described in the post above, a phone much more handy and it's quite universal gadget. However, there are moments when a phone is not able to capture what I would like to. Mostly it happens when I want to take a photo of raising moon above city cascade.

In my opinion left picture is taken by an iPhone. Because it looks more colorful. And it seems to me that they use some hidden filters for that purpose.

I don't remember the last time when I was watching my photos on a laptop. I guess it was about half year ago when I returned from Zakopane.
1. Photos from the holiday will be done with professional equipment because the souvenir must be of good quality :)
Sometimes smartphones have a problem with taking photos with poor lighting, have problems with image stabilization.

2
Most of them recognize them

3.
I prefer to view photos on a large format such as a TV set. What a pleasure to watch holiday pictures on a small screen? :).

I don't like to invest in the professional gear for photography. iPhone 7 is enough for me. I like to take some photos during my holiday but it's everything. Camera in my phone is very good and I can't complain about it. To be honest I can't recognize it. People are using a lot of filters what make photos awesome! I think that people on Instagram usually use phones because it's the cheapest option.
I always use mobile devices to watch photographs because my old TV doesn't have Bluetooth to wireless connection so I have to use a lot of cables. It irritates me so phone is only option.
What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?
My choice is a smartphone. For general social user like me this is enough :)
Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?
Since I am not a photographer therefore scarcely I'll can recognize where is the best camera phone (smartphone) or where is the pro camera.
Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?
Generally, I watch photos on PC and mobile devices.
Yes - there is a saying, that the best camera is the one You have with You. :) It's a good idea to look at a photo at all possible devices, because of the differences between screens resolution/colors
Unknown said…
My choice for holiday photography is both of them, because sometimes i want to take some pictures and after that make some memorable quality pictures or from the different places. Anyway sometimes camera is too heavy to carry with and smartfone has its advantage to be always in my pocket.

Yes it is often visible how was this picture taken and what kind of retouch was applied on it.Also the resolution is quite different even though nowadays there are great cameras on the newest phones.

I watch them everywhere, usually on the laptop or just to show or just to edit.

It depends on what holiday I go on, if I go skiing I prefer to take a GoPro webcam, where the effect is amazing and it is a camera adapted to such trips. If I go on a warm holiday, the phone is enough, especially since I don't take a lot of pictures. When it comes to recognizing a photo, I wouldn't recognize what the photo was taken and for me there is no difference where I would look at it.

Taking photographs is very important to store memories. This is the greatest souvenir from travel. As person who is keen on travelling, I’ve professional camera to catch every moment during my journey. I consider that camera from smartphone is too weak and doesn’t have good quality. On the other side this device is useful and you have everything in one device. In social media most of people during taking photo are using additional filters to make it spotless. This effect is visible at first glance. Of course a lot of magazines uses photoshop also at the photographs took by professional camera, so it’s impossible to recognize which picture was taken with smartphone or camera. As that smartphone accompanies us at every step in our lives, I usually watch photographs on it. But if I only have an opportunity, I’m trying to remember with the help of photography on bigger screen like PC or TV.
My ultimate choice is my beloved smartphone - iPhone. I don't have any DSLR cameras or action cameras and either videocameras. I am an unpretentious photographer so I am fully satisfied with my smartphone capabilities. In most cases, I think it all depends on the skills and imagination of the photographer and not the equipment.
Mostly, I can't recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone or professional camera because the difference is becoming less noticeable. Modern smartphones can compete with professional cameras, no doubts.
Honestly, nowadays only on smartphone or sometimes laptop. It's easier to watch and share photos via mobile devices.
I used to use the “professional” camera on every trip. I love taking photos of everything and usually after 2 weeks holidays I have about 3-4k photos. But when I bought my last phone and start taking photos with it I changed my preferences. Now, I’m only using smartphone.
Photos on social media aren’t in very high resolution, so you are not able to recognize which picture/video was taken with smartphone. Even videos taken in 4k during perfect weather is hard to recognize.
As I’m using smartphone to take photos, I generally watching it on my phone, but I like to print my favorite one and make an album.
My choice for a holiday photography is a smartphone. I haven’t invested in "professional" gear because I rarely take photos and if I am already satisfied with the results of my smartphone.

No, unfortunately I can't recognize which photos were taken using a smartphone and which using professional photographic equipment.

I only view photos on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets.

1) What is Your choice for holiday photography? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or You are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone?
- I do not invest in any "professional" gear while taking a photo, I just use my smartphone. I do not need a better equipment because I do not leave my basement even on holidays, so I think that my old iPhone is enough to take a photo of my pizza which I ordered for dinner.
2) Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook?
- No, because most of the photos on Instagram or Facebook are just some "selfies" done in the bathroom with poor light. Of course, sometimes you can find a picture of someone's holidays where you can easily figure about what kind of equipment was used to take a photo.
3) Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets?
- I only watch photographs on my PC and from time to time on my smartphone while browsing reddit.

It depends on the location most of the time i do bring a dedicated camera with me on holidays. When i go hiking or simply when taking my camera with me might provide inconvenience i do resort to phone photos only.

I do not give any value to what was photo shot with as long as the photo itself is good, whats more with amount of a viable addons like special cases with attachable lenses make it harder and harder to distinguish the device the photo was took with.

If i browse any photos i usually use my PC for that.

I think professional tools will be most suitable for holiday photos, especially if they are in the hands of someone who really understands this. Since I myself use all these attributes as an amateur.
Today it is very difficult to recognize what was taken of the photo, on a professional camera or smartphone. On a smartphone, of course, you can also make great pictures that are difficult to distinguish from professional ones. Especially with the use of filters and various photo manipulations it will be even more difficult.
In my opinion, the quality of the photo, its content and other aspects depend more on the photographer himself, I was convinced of this many times.

I'm satisfied with my phone' camera but as a professional filmmaker I take my mirrorless camera almost everywhere. Mostly I record movies but sometimes it happens that I'm taking pictures.
In my opinion it's hard to tell the difference between photos taken with a dslr or a smartphone when browsing social media. All social media have some kind of compression which complicates things. Also a good post production can really improve photo quality so that it's easy confuse the smartphone with an camera.
When it comes to movies I can spot the difference right away but with photos it much harder.
Most often I watch photos on my mobile phone because I use instagram and facebook. When you follow the right people you can admire their amazing photos and even get inspired.

Nowadays the spartphone cameras are so advanced, that You bearly can see the diffrence on small, phone screen. Most of the popular soial media websites using compresions mechanism, so it's hard to tell which photo was taken by proffesional gear and which by only smartphone. I'm a huge fun of good photography with concept, by I'm not a photographer by my own -> so I probably won't invest in expensive, professional gear for now. I'm happy with my Iphone camera, it takes considerably good photos for my standards. As far as comparision photos are concerned, like I said, I really like photography, I learned photoshop and lightroom by my own, so when I see the photo I can almost in seconds define if this photo was taken by professional camera or just smartphone and if it've been retouched. Probably most photos I've ever seen was on social media, but because I'm using my laptop a lot I can watch them in little bit more resolution ;)

Photography was my hobby back in a day and I really liked a dlsr camera because it gives much more options to work with. Nowadays smartphones can make photos of really good quality, but for anyone who knows something more and have some concept, options given in a smartphone might not be sufficient. It is rather impossible to distinguish every photo on instagram if it was made by phone or more professional camera. I watch photos mostly on my phone or computer and books if they have any.
Very difficult choice. I have a professional camera, but also an excellent camera on my smartphone. I'm using my phone for photography in everyday life, funny moments, beautiful things and just everything that surrounds me and what I want to share with friends. And I use a professional camera for important events, for achieving amazing effects and just if I need a large image size for further processing.
Yes, very often it is not clear on which machine the photo was taken. But I definitely see when professional equipment was used for photography. Whatever magic our phones are capable of, it’s impossible to get the full range of possibilities, which gives us professional equipment.
1.I rather stick to my smartphone. The important thing is that usually, during my holidays, I am not the one that takes a lot of photos. I think this is why I don't feel like I need any special equipment. Especially considering the fact that smartphones nowadays can produce photos of such quality.

2. I don't think so. I am not really thinking about this when I am browsing Facebook. I have to admit that I don't know much about photography.

3. Usually I use my smartphone and PC. Rarely tablet.

For sure my choice for holiday photography is smartphone. Not only for holidays but for every day so I don't really invest in professional stuff.
I think it is very hard to recognize with which device was the photo taken, especially when most of the photos is taken by smartphones.
I mostly watch photos on my smartphone but sometimes in my home I watch holiday's photos on big TV.

What is Your choice for holiday photography ? Did You invest in the “professional” gear or Your are satisfied with the results of Your smartphone ?

It depends on my holiday way, To take my professional camera or not and my smartphone exactly with me I'm satisfied with my smartphone camera but I'm not satisfied with my smartphone memory.
........................................................................................................
Can You recognize which picture was taken with a smartphone when You browse social media like Instagram or Facebook ?

Actually, sometimes because you know a lot of programs can convert pictures taken by smartphone camera like taken by a professional camera.
........................................................................................................
Do You watch photographs on PC/TV/prints, or only on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets ?

I prefer to watch photographs on a larger screen such as a PC for extra details if I want and else if the photographs don't important just any screen.

This great happiness. phone is stronger. They are very strong in the photo. I think, very soon professional cameras will not be necessary for us. Look at the market of accessories for record of video with phone. It is very convenient. Image stabilizers for video filming are ingenious. Now having good phone you will be able to record fine video. Now cameras in phones are very good, you will not notice a difference.

My daily and holiday choice for photography is a smartphone camera, as I'm not interested in professional photography whatsoever. I also have never invested in the professional gear.

Unfortunately, I feel like I can not. I don't know a lot about techniques nor photography itself, I mainly focus on what is in the picture - not how it was made.

I tend to watch photography on PC, specially UI projects put on Dribbble, but to be honest I don't recall nothing else. I use PC only to work.
I'm satisfied with my smartphone and it's easier to share my photos and videos with friends and family.
It's a very difficult task and I think that I'm not able to recognize all the pictures, but when I see a selfie I'm almost 100% sure that this picutre was taken with a smartphone.
I mostly watch photographs on mobile devices but I print photos that are more important to me.

1. I don't have yet action camera, but I plan to buy one. Just need to read more about it. Maybe not for holday photgraphy, cause it's easier to take phone with you on mountains than camera, but I very often make photos of my animals. Macro photograpy is annoying using smartphone. I'm angry at Sony, their cameras are said to be good but it's a lie. How hard I try it's just loosing focus on macro photography. It's reaaaaaly bad and the resolution is quite bad even if it's "22MPX"
2. Yup, resolution is visable. But start with Fb and insta, those services are loosing some of the quality of your photos, so bad pics made phone are even uglier.
3. Both. Of course when I'm in travel I'm using phone, but in home using a good screen and PC is much better, we can finally see a picture made by camera at it's best :)
I’m not very good at taking photos so buying a DSLR camera would make no sense to me. So for me, my iPhone XS camera is perfectly enough. On the other hand, my girlfriend is interested in photography and she carries (or makes me carry) a Canon EOS 550D DSLR. Her photos are obviously better.

Your second question is very interesting — usually yes. DSLR camera lenses create professional depth-of-field effects that are just not reproducible with smartphone cameras. But do I care when I see an Instagram photo taken with a smartphone camera? Not at all.

The biggest screen that I watch my photos on is my 27” external monitor attached to my computer. Usually, the difference between a DSLR photo and an iPhone photo is clearly visible on such a big screen.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
