Week 6 [19-25.11.18] Battle Royale Genre

Battle Royale Genre

Battle Royale concept is quite old but back then it was just a mod to popular games such. Today we have excelent games based on Battle Royale concept, where the Last Standing Man wins. Battle royal base on survival and finding loot such as armors, weapons all over the map.

The Genre becomes so popular mainly because players were seeking for such a game where they could really achieve something which is be the last man standing. Landing on a huge map with 100 players and each of them have the same goal is thrilling and it is not just pure skill, you need to be kind of lucky to grab better weapon and gear to win unexpected encounter. Of course it is not only luck, you need certain skills to be the best. This are just examples what really makes this genre so popular. Nowadays the most popular category on twitch ( popular streaming platform) is battle royale like Fortnite, PUBG, new Call of Duty Black Ops. Even old veteran of war shooters Battlefield presented Battle royale mode in theirs newest game.

As you can see above, there are plenty of games which base on Battle Royale Concept, I would like to present you the most hyped titles and share my opinion about them.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Pros:
Very nice balanced weapons and gear,  3 maps, First in battle royale genre
Cons:
Terrible optimization, bugs everywhere. Very laggy and not fluent at all. Instead of working on fixing the game, they realesed skins for weapons.
Overall the game isn’t fun to play anymore , a lot of players are leaving the game to Fortnite and newest Blackout .

Fortnite

This game, is much better than pubg but I don’t like that you have to build constructions in order to surviver ( this game was described in Week 9 , last semester presentation).
Fornite is directed to younger players and the older ones may not like hearing kids voices in lobby and team all the time and the whole atmosphere of this game is childish.

COD 4 Blackout

I think overall this game is the best right now, however you need to pay for it 230 zł.
Fluent shooting with nice graphics and battle royale concept is what making this game numer one for me. I am waiting to try Battlefield Battle Royale but for now, this is the game which gives me fun.
Whole feeling of playing this gam eis very nice and you have plenty more options to fight people than pubg for example.

I’d like to hear what do you think about this :

1    1)      Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
2    2)      Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
3    3)      Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?

1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
I have played only for one or two hours in Fortnite, but after almost winning a game I found a continuation of playing as pointless.

2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
I think Virtual/Augmented Reality games are becoming more and more popular. If only headsets and all necessary stuff required to play in this type of games will become cheaper, they will probably change the market.

3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
No, I don't know any.
>PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, First in battle royale genre

Laughs in Petri reborn.

Now serious, DayZ was the first standalone battle royale project, although a mod. H1Z1 came out earlier, that PUBG (pubg itself was a mod, while H1Z1 was released, although in beta. Or pre alfa, I do not remember).
Unfortunately, I cannot say much about such games for one single reason: I am unable to play shooters. I do not know, for what reason, but after years of working with PC, mouse feels foreign in my hand, I cannot aim. At all. Thus, my games are races, and strategic-based. Or action with controller input, that is my main.

However, I have read both original Battle Royale book and Susan Collins' parody. Both I did not make till the end. They both lack everything what a book should have for me.

I haven’t played any battle royale games, but I’ve watched some on YouTube. I’m not a fan of this genre and wouldn’t consider buying one. My favourite games are either real time, turn based strategy or city building simulators. Also I’m not into gaming industry anymore and don’t know what is hot, new or potentially revolutionary. However it would be nice to see more strategy based games as I heard that they are already growing in popularity.

1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?

First of all - I don't think that PUBG was the first Battle Royale game. I've been playing H1Z1 the King of the Kill before PUBG was released, so... Other than that, I spent few hours on Fornite, but I enjoyed H1Z1(early H1Z1, not that broken one) much more.

2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?

I think, that VR/AR horror games could be awesome. Nowadays, horror games are scary as hell... For example - latest Resident Evil: Biohazard. I was terrified while playing it and that was totally awesome!
Also, I'm a big fan of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA, Outlast and Dead Space series. A possibility to play those games on VR/AR will be crazy!

3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?

Yes, as I mentioned - H1Z1 the King of the kill.
1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
I've been playing CoD in high school, and I liked it.

2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
No, I'm not a gamer anymore :(

3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
No - but I would love to play this mode in new GTA

1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
I tried to play these games, but I didn't like.

2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
I think at this time a lot of concepts for games came up. I hope to emerge people such as Hideo Kojima , who created P.T and Death Stranding.

3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
I know that many MMO games have added Battle Royale modes such as Skyforge.
The Culling, SOS, Last Man Standing, Darwin Project, Hunt: Showdown, Realm Royale
but I don't know if they're better.

Haha, sorry for my lack of knowledge ! You're probably right, I meant it was one of the first battle royales ( H1Z1 was earlier for sure). Unfortunatelly to be good in shooters all you need is practice and muscle memory and hours of training, "regular" people could not play like pros without hours (wasted ?) .
Cool, I didn't like fortnite either. I found it to childish for me. I do agree with you that VR are getting more popular these days, I would like to try one some day, good point :)
Yes, someone above corrected me already, I meant one of the first battle royales :)
If you are fan of Call of Duty you should try new Blackops, it's suprisingly very good ( I wasn't sure if COD movement, shooting feelings etc would match battle royale). They did a pretty good job !

Battle Royale is such a new genre on gaming market and pretty fast progress devolop with a lot fans. It shows that people like that genre games. I guess is results from short motto – „Fight or die”. Similar situation we have in book „The hunger games”. I can bravely say that is plagiarism but nobody pays attention from where that great idea. My adventure with Fortnite began and finished the same day. It isn’t for me. Run and shoot everywhere without any destination. Personally Game Market is not on high level with all due respect. Manufacturers ensures us about things which doesn’t exist in games. They are focusing to earn only money nothing more. It’s sad but it true. We can look to games from 2001 and we will see amazing story and every character has personality. Today’s manufacturers should learn from others how to make good game. I can’t say any more because I dont interest games from this genere.

I played battle royale games from the beginning of it. I started playing Arma 3 battle royale game and it was awesome! I think it was the best Battle royale because it was really dependent on your positioning and knowledge of the map. And when you were shooting from a distance it was way harder than in Pubg or fortnite. But not many of us played arma 3 battle royale and that's because it almost died, there is still few people playing but not many of them.

I can't think of any new concept of a game that could change something. I guess it would be best just to change a bit games that already exist and they would be perfect.

As I mentiond above I think that Arma 3 mode is better than games listed by you. Another game that I found interesting is battlerite royale. It's a little different because its not a fps game but it still has few things that you need to have a good aim and map awarness to win. The third game that I saw but didn't play is realm royale. It has magic stuff in it and I think it is even more childish than fortnite. I highly recommend everyone to look up Arma 3 battle royale mode. You won't regret it.
You're right, nowadays eveyrthing in game market is done for money, unfortunatelly ... I also take your point about fortnite but I love blackout and I used to play PUBG a lot besides its flaws. What angry me the most is the microtransactions they added instead of fixing the game :(
Good advice, I haven't heard about Arma 3 before but I might take a look, from what you're saying it must be really good game but Im afraid that I am used to better graphics and older games may annoy me by its textures, characters etc.

1. Yes, I played. This is a mode that is gaining immense popularity in many games, so I think that a lot of people have already played. These games were PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty Black Ops IV, H1Z1.

2. It is difficult to say because there are many different concepts, especially in indie games. I would like to try to connect Battle Royale, zombies, and craft elements. Yes, it can be very difficult for the player, but why not?

3. I rarely play, so I can not name such games. I can mention that even in GTA Online there is a mode very similar to Battle Royale, which I also liked.
1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?

Yes, I have ;) My First experience with Battle Royale game was PUBG. I've really enjoyed it, but not for long. My guess is that I have something like 25 hours of game in it. It was quite cool but the time when I used to play it, PUBG was really buggy game. Second and last game with battle royale mod I've played was Fortnite and I did not enjoyed it very much - I think that I played it like week or two.
2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?

I think not, because our history has shown that totally new game styles can be great hits. LOL used to be hot game some time ago I think that it was first game that started new genre called Moba. PUBG was not first battle royale, but first one that made it mainstram.
3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
I do not :(
Hey, thanks for you reply. Im glad to hear that you played PUBG ! Yes I agree with you and it is still buggy as hell , BUT they added skins for weapons ! About fortnite as I mentioned above I didn't like it either it was to weird for me, if you are into battle royales you should give Blackout a try it has everything we wanted from PUBG and Fortnite. About LOL it wasn't the first MOBA, I belive that DOTA was earlier.

1) Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
Yes, I played in H1Z1, Fortnite and mod Hungry game for Minecraft. Better for me is that mod.

2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
I don't know...

3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
Yes, as I mentioned - Mod Hungry Game for Minecraft. It's better because in Minecraft I first tried battle royal. :)

Ive played both fortnite and pubg. After all i liked pubg much more.I guess i just don't like this candy graphics and much more unrealistic gameplay. Also pubg was much slower paced game and matches were less intencive if you just wanted them to be. Also as you menshiened i don't really like to be surrounded by kids which got access to voice channel. (it is similar with overwatch) Im still looking forward to play black out as i heard many possitive opinions. Also im wondering about battlefield mode whitch is suposed to have many new features and cool visuals. I think someone that was lauging at you for not knowing wat was first BR is wrong too. First was mincraft with its hunger games mode, you are welcome.
No, I’ve never played a game from Battle Royal genre. When it comes to online shooters, I play mostly Battlefield 4, which also has gigantic maps, however gameplay is completely different. I think I would like to try PUBG, but I need to buy more powerful computer first.
I am not very interested into latest trends in game development but in my opinion it will be hard for developers to invent new game mode which would conquer the market. There are already tons of games with different mechanics and gameplay. As far as I know, game called Titanfall was something new and quite refreshing. This is sci-fi shooter, in which players can use huge robots to fight.
I am afraid that I don’t know any more games with Battle Royal mode.

I didn't play a game of the Battle Royale genre. Unfortunately, now I have little time for games. How I play it more in role-playing games like Red Dead Redemption 2, which will take me over a month.

I don't know. But for sure some time will come something that will conquer the world as Fortnite of your time.

I don't know such games because I didn't play them.

The first battle royal game I have played was H1Z1. I spent dozens of hours with this title. The graphics weren't well, but the gameplay was great. I have also tried Fortnite and I liked it even more. Not only the gameplay is great in this game, but also the community, graphics and lots of more things.

It's hard to say about the new game concept that could potentially change the game market. The battle royal is a phenomenon, nothing more.

I think GTA V has got battle royal mode, but I am not 100 percent sure. I don't have enough time to be up to date with games.

Yes, I've played pubg. I really like this game. At first, I've downloaded it and I thought it will take me a couple of games and I will delete it from my tablet. Then it happens game after game after game. It was awesome. Unfortunately, now I have other things to do like RDR II. But I know I will get back and play it again.

Unfortunately, I can't think of anything that could change the game market.

I've only heard about pubg and fortnite
Yep i played Fortnite, bit i do not share the same excitement and hype that it got. I can see the appeal but it is just not my thing. But playing with friends trolling everyone around and each other is definitely fun in this type of games. I don't think that gamemarket should be revolutionized, but the most obvious idea is integrating more AR/VR technology in games. I am more of an RPG or strategy guy, so i don't know about any other battle royale games.

Unfortunately, I have never played this game, the only game that interested me, and in which I shot is a counter strike.
Unfortunately, I'm not up to date with this type of thing, but I know that a lot has changed the fortnite game, which is very popular and millions of people play it.
Unfortunately, I do not know any other game because these are not games for me.
I like adventure games that are going on a long time ago.

I have no experience with Battle Royal game. I used to play online game when Battle Royal concept wasn't exist.

I don't hear about new game concepts but I have some concept in my mind. It would be grate if we could move Battle Royal concept from game to real life. Some kind of it was described in a 2000 Japanese thriller that called Battle Royal. Hm, such a strange coincidence, isn't it? So the idea is that 100 students land to the island with one randomly chosen weapon. The weapon could be everything: from fork or spoon to rifle. This is a very creative idea with random weapon, isn't it? And these students should fight each other until the end. The end is when only one student lefts. In my opinion this is a way to make games more educative.

Yes, I often play games of this type and in particular one, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. I do love this game <3

I have’t heard anything more interesting than Battle Royal games, maybe because I don’t play computer games a lot.

I currently know three such games, PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, Fortnite and Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 but in my opinion PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is the best of them.

Yes, I played PUBG Mobile. It was funny, but play on PC better. Battle royal good genre but I think that in nearest future people's interest will decrease.
In my opinion VR games will replace common games, genres could be same as now, but interaction with computer will change. Now many companies trying to create VR platforms (Glasses, gloves, moving platforms, guns for VR) and I hope that they will produce some brilliant device for gamers.
Rearm Royale was released in 2018. Main features of Rearm Royale: you can ride mounts, when somebody kill you, you became chicken that can run away and if you will be alive within ~30s(don't remember exactly) you will “reborn” to regular character.

I not a big fan of games and also such genre of games. I played only one game in such genre it was PUBG. In addition it was on the mobile phone, so biggest drawback was that for a lot of things you should pay, donate. However I actually liked it, also it was cool that you can play with your friend in a group of 2 or 4 people, to survive together.

I think that nowadays more and more popular become games with multiplayer in which you can compete with another player on your own and in the team. More popular become video games tournaments. So I believe that genres which allow multiplayer and team competition will be the most popular in near future.
Yes I have played a battle royale game before and it was PUBG. And actually at first I didn't like this concept much because especially in PUBG it usually took some time before I encountered any one in game and when I did I died in a second. It was very annoing at first but after some time I learned to play it and then I had a lot of fun playing it. I have never played any other battle royale game but I heard as you said that Call of Duty 4 Blackout really is the best battle royale game available on market at the moment so I hope to play it soon. Also I don't know about any new game concept that could change the game market, I just hope that MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) will stay long on a market becaue I like this type of games the most.
Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
I played pubg and fortnite

Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
At the moment I do not know what can be a trend in games. It changes very quickly and sometimes simple solutions become
the main topic

Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
It's done so much that I can not keep up with them anymore. The beginning for the battle royal was the arm and the hunger games :)

Luckily, i've never played a game from battle royale genre, i'm not interested in playing video games. I don't care about new game concepts, as i said, i'm not a fan of video games and everything that is close to that topic. No, i don;t know any games with battle royale mode, so i can't find better game as you mentioned above.
Unknown said…
1. Yes, I did. I played Playerunknown's Battlegrounds. I really enjoyed that game, but I was unable to play it anymore because my PC couldn't handle it.

2. Unfortunately no. But if we look at the history of popular game concepts we can see that the competitive multiplayer is the key to success. So the next game concept that will change the game market will probably be something involving competitive multiplayer.

3. Do I know any more games with battle royal mode? Yes. Games that are better than mentioned above? No.

As you said Battle Royale is quite old genre, but it has become so popular just recently. I think the main reason behind it is that our hardware is getting better. More powerful CPU and GPU, bigger RAM and more advanced graphical cards. All of it give us an opportunity to support more realistic and complex gameplay, while at the same time modern servers can handle more requests, that means there are more people online. Also Twitch helped a lot in promotion of this type of games. Overall, I think technological advancement and general hype made Battle Royale one of the most popular genre today.
I, personally, enjoyed playing PUBG with my friends. I usually don’t spend money on games, but this one was so popular and so many of my friends have been playing it, that I was almost forced by them to buy it. As you mentioned, unfortunately, it’s not well optimized and players often face various bugs. It was understandable in the begging, when game was in beta test. But even now, when it’s officially released, PUBG still have the same problems. Regarding other modern popular Battle Royale games like Fortnite and COD 4 Blackout I can’t say to much, since I haven’t played them. And I don’t think I will. Not because I dislike them or genre, just because to play them well, you need to acquire some skill and devote some time, and I don’t think I have a lot of it.

Yes, of course I have played a game from Battle Royale genre. I have spend a lot of time on PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS title. I remember that I bought this game during beta tests. I like Battle Royal games because I can spend time with my friends. I prefer four-person team because don't like to play alone. We are always on Team Speak 3 and talking a lot.
What about second question? I don't think that battle royal mode is something what can change game market. It's only type of game. It's trendy nowadays but every game passes that the same situation will be with PUBG, Fortnite and other BR games.
I know about PUBG, Fortnite and Realm Royale but As I said, I have only played first of mentioned. I have heard that Fortnite is full of younger players and it's discouraging me.
1.Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
Yes, I have. It was Fortnite, because I want to try the genre and free-to-play is everything :)
2. Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
The only thing that comes to my mind is VR.
3. Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
I'm not a big fan of BRM, so I don't know any other games.
I have tried Fortnite a bit. I played about two games and quit. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Not only Fortnite but this genre. Battle Royale is totally not for me, I prefer RPG games.
Honestly, I’m not very interested in what’s new is coming into game market. I haven’t heard about anything that can change anything, however I believe that something will show up soon.
As I didn’t enjoy Battle Royal mode I haven’t play any other game, so unfortunately, I don’t know any other games.

Yes, I have played a game from Battle Royale genre like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Fortnite and COD 4 Blackout. No doubts, those games are dazzling and dynamic especially with friends. But let's be clear here, I have played only few times, mostly I play from time to time PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds mobile version on iPhone.
I rarely play video games so I am not in touch with the industry, nothing comes to mind.
I think above mentioned games are the best, but for sure there are a lot of copycats. We will see, maybe 2019 bring us something new.

From 2003 to the end of high school, i. e. 2012, I had every version of Call of Duty, the first version I remember the most, because on my estate I and my 9 colleagues played at the same time and it was great. Since I've been studying, I don't have a computer with me that allows me to play better games, and I've come out of the subject of games a little bit and I can't say what could affect the market.
I have never played a game from Battle Royale genre.

I don't know. I suspect that they it may be VR games, although I haven't played any games for a few years.

I don't know any other because I don't play games and have no interest in them.

I have played Fortnite and i think even though it is rathe childish, you need some skill to really play it, also it has one big advantage - its for free!

No, i have no idea about the new game concept, which can change everything.
3 3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
Actually, no because i played only these three above in that genre lets say. COD Blackout is also one of my favourites and nothing else comes to my mind.
1. Yes I played h1z1 for a bit. However, I didn't like it that much. I played it only because my friends liked the game. Personally I think that this genre doesn't suit me that well.

2. I have no idea what genre that could be.

3. I don't know any other battle royal games besides those that you mentioned. H1z1 that I talked about in my first answer is much older. Nobody plays it anymore as far as I know.
Unknown said…
Battle Royale is one of the game modes that I devote the most time to. Thanks to the contacts I had access to very early PUBG tests and since then it has been nice to watch changes in this game, but it has been stopped around for some time, I hope that it will continue to move and finally fix this game. I used to play H1Z1 but this game died faster than became famous. Fortnite - a game for children with candy graphics, not for me. However, in COD I would love to play but it costs a bit.
In my opinion, with the increasing popularity of VR gaming can change the face of playing. This is not so popular and developed so that everyone can have access to it because the equipment is important, but once it is widely available and at normal prices, I think that games will be mainly programmed on VR.

- I have played Players Unknown Battleground, Fortnite for only 30 minutes and Call of Duty Blackout. For me, the best one is PUBG because it was something fresh for me and unique.
2) Do you know about any new game concept that could potentially change the game market?
- Nothing special, I like the games which combine cards and RPG mechanics, for example, the hand of fate 2. I like the idea that you can collect cards which buff your character and then fight monsters like in hack and slash games.
3) Do you know any more games with battle royale mode, that you find better than mentioned above?
- No, I think that CoD, PUBG and Fortnite are the best ones. They have a huge audience, great support from the developers and the esport scene which will bring more players with every tournament.

I played some of them i have played the original Arma mod, then PUBG, Fortnite and some less memorable spin off games that came during the boom. Most of them had their enjoyable moments.
Any new game concepts? huh VR, AR games come to mind, there is whole unexplored field when it comes to those genres.
U cant really say any of them were strictly better, while some of them were awful as a whole non of them has been "better" than the rest of them , they all had their own spin on the genre, Fortnite has building, Chicken royale had classes ?, Arma mod focused on "realism", Cod has lootable perks in game. They all are different in being similar if u know what i mean.
Thanks for the article, it was very interesting and informative. I have never played such games. I suspect that this is not for me. I am not a supporter of online games, if you still have to play them, then my choice is an RPG. Battle Royale concept makes me very worried. I do not have the accuracy, so quickly die. I feel like an eternal loser. Well, corny there is no interest in such games. I have in the first place a game with a rich plot. They allow you to live through the story yourself as if you read a book, but at the same time, you see a beautiful picture in front of you.

I have only played PUBG from the battle royale genre, but it wasn't something special for me as I only played something like 20 hours. Fortnite has rather too much cartoonish style for me. Battle Royale is still a quite new genre and probably we will have to few more years for some other genre to rise up. I won't say that one game is better from the others as they have different gameplay design, art-style and target audience. It might be worth noting that Battlefield V will also have battle royale gamemode and it might make some change on the game market.
Yes, I have played in PUBG and I think this is very cool experience. Only one thing that makes me angry is cheaters that makes game terrible. But there hard to make good game without mowing all game important calculations to server side.

I don't know any new concept of game that can change game market but I think their exist.

No, I know only 2 games that has been mentioned before in this article so other games has been new for me.

1. I have played in Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and it was nice but I think that it is not well optimised and it was a bit too much for my processor.
2. Sorry, but I don't have idea what type of games can be more popular that games like League of Legends or Battle Royale genre.
3. I have heard only about games which you mentioned in your article. :)

1) I played some of them. I have just checked them out. It is strange that developers of PUBG claim that it was first of the genre.

2) Unfortunately there is a lot of casual games in the moment which are too popular. For example, any mobile game.

3) Well, there are many games with battle royal mode. Like party fighting games or games about destroying enemy's cars (Burnout, Flatout).

I have played some of Battle Royale genere games but none of them really interested me. One of them was Fortnite and i think that is very over-hyped game.
I am not really into game industry and I don't follow any game related news so I don't know any new genres.
I have played only PUBG and Fortnite.
I do have experience with the battle royale genre, though not in the most popular way. I grabbed a silly little game called “Totally Accurate Battlegrounds” from the makers of “Totally Accurate Battle Simulator”. It might be more of a parody of the genre, but is still nonetheless a fully fledged game that has all the core game loop elements found in other titles. I’d say, as brutal as it sounds, that after playing it I have more than enough of the experience with battle royales. Sure, one may argue that the games are wildly different, but on the most basic level (that makes them fun, don’t understand me wrong) they are all the same – place a bunch of people in confined space, let them fight for resources (weapons, ammunition, health) and eventually start rounding them up in a single spot so that the game doesn’t last forever. It makes for a great thriller, but admittedly the excitement lasts only so long. The formula is great, but it got quickly watered down by the plentiful titles that followed suit. Funnily enough, I think the genre started with a Minecraft minigame attempting to mimic the Hunger Games. It was one great idea that captivated the minds of people and resulted in a whole new type of gameplay. Games that introduce ideas like that are true needles in the haystack of titles that get published every year, and it’s really hard to tell you are dealing with a market changing concept until you see it widely acclaimed and followed by other developers.

1. Have you ever played a game from Battle Royale genre? If so, what game did you play?
Yup. I played Fortnite for whole 1 hour. Made me cry. I don't really enjoy multiplayers now that have so big RNG influence like Fortnite :0 I'd prefer games with strong story and hard skill level.
2. Hmmm... I do think that battle royale as a genre of game is behind it's best moments. Now it's getting less popular, loosing people, it will die in the next 2-3 years like League of Legends died after 5 years. There will be new popular genre which will fill the gap.
3. Not really a battle royale. Don't know other games than ones mentioned by you. I consider Dark Souls 1 and 3 multiplayer mode as a challenging. Invading other people is very fun cause the difference of builds is big and the duel is in 80% situations very challenging. I recommend it to you, very fun and frustrating. If you're masochist you'd like it :)
I have played Fortinite for about an hours. It's really hard to me to enjoy BR genre because I'm more like PvE player.
Maybe VR could potentially change the game market? It's developing quite fast and there are some really great VR games.
I'm not a fun of BR games. I think that Fortnite and Black Ops 4 are currently on top and I can't find any other BR game which is better than these two.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
