Week 11 [11.06-17.06.2018] FIFA World Cup

FIFA WORLD CUP

The FIFA World Cup is definitely a very much anticipated period for fans all over the world. It takes places every four years and it is one of the largest events in the world, comparable to the Olympic Games.

Soon, and already this month (June 14) we will see the start of the next FIFA World Cup in Russia. It is an amazing fact that in 2010 we knew who would be the organizer of the event in 2018. Russia in 2010 began to prepare for the organization of this event. Fans from all the world are waiting for this moment.

At the FIFA World Cup, matches will be played in 11 cities in 12 stadiums. The smallest stadium is able to accommodate 35,000 people(Kaliningrad Stadium), and the largest stadium can accommodate up to 81,000 people(Luzhniki Stadium). There will be as many as 32 teams at the FIFA World Cup. Each team will play at least 3 matches. Only 2 best teams from each group (in the group there are 4 teams) will be promotedto the 1/8 finals. In the best case, the team will play 7 matches up to the final or the match for the 3rdplace. Fans of will definitely want their teams to play more than 3 matches. I personally believe in our national team - Poland will manage to play even 7 matches. I think the chance of achieving success is big. I will support them with all my heart and I will watch every match with Poland.

The most important match, the final will be at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on 15 July. There will be 64 matches played duringthe tournament, so I hope this event is worth watchingThe last winner, in 2014, was Germany thatthen won the 4th FIFA World Cuptitle, while Brazil has the most trophies - 5.

During the FIFA World Cup there will be 36 refereesand their two assistants. That is a total of 108 referees.

Poland participated in the world championships in 2006 and it was 7th performance in history. At this championship it will be already the 8thperformance. The greatest success is definitely 3rd place in 1974 and 1982. Unfortunately, since then, the Polish national team has  had a crisis. In the current situation  the team look very good and certainly has a chance to achieve similar success as in previous years. Everything is due to the best coach of recent years - Adam Nawałka. He rebuilt our team and now we are going to succeedin the FIFA World Cup (I hope).

At the very end I want topresent some interesting factsabout the upcoming event:
·     Official Song - Live It Up (Nicky Jam song)
·     Match ball - Telstar18 by Adidas
·      Mascot – Zabivaka (The photo is underneath)

Here are my questions:

1. Do you like to watch football matches and are you waiting for the world championships? If so, which team will you support?
2. What do you think about these games? Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea?
3. Would you like the championships to be organized in your country someday? Or maybe it has already happed ?

I am very interested in watching football.
In my opinion, soccer is a team sport and a fascinating team that happens unpredictably and has a lot of excitement. My favorite team is Portugal.
The games will be held at a very high level, Qatar is the first country in the Middle East to host the tournament. In my opinion, it will be a big deal for a small country like Qatar.

I'm not that into football or any other sports, so I cannot say that much. But when it comes to some major sporting event I don't watch them.
I know for sure that countries that host such events have a lot of complication during organization process. For some countries, it's even not affordable to host such events. As I mentioned before I'm not interested in such event and cannot comment about the championship in Qatar in 2022.
I think it's not such a bad idea to organize sporting events in my country. In fact, similar football event took place in my country six years ago.
Honestly, i don't like football at all, but i'm always watching all the big championships and i support always a team who is weaker. I think that it is "must be" event in our life. Sometimes we need to understand who is the best country in football for example or who is the best in tennis right now. Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea? Why not? Qatar is an improving country and it has enough resources to be a place for world cup. I don't care about my country and i think all the events in my country are corrupted enough and that is a shame.

I like to watch football matches and I can’t wait to see the world championships. It’s obvious that
I will support team from my country so… POLAND will win! Generally I’ve heard that Russia is well prepared for this championships but of course we can’t be sure for 100%, it’s Russia. I don’t have much to say about next championship in Qatar, I don’t know enough details about it. I’d love to see world championships in my country but at least, six years ago in my country were organized Europe championships.
I am not a great fan of football but sometimes I may watch a match with my friends who are crazy about football.
I don't have enough experience to be able to say something. Generally I would say that I support my country but I actually don't. I don't mind whether my country is going to win or not.

I think Russia has enough resources to be able to hold such an event. I would say that everything should be OK but as far as I know the russians may behave themself inadequate. That's why I consider that everying should be almost OK :)

As I said I am not a great football fan and I don't mind about the fact that oneday such championship will be organized in my country

I find football extremely boring to watch but I follow the results to see how the teams are doing. Of course I support Polish team, hopefully they will have a chance for a good score in the tournament.
I don'r really think that these games have a big impact on politics so it doesn't matter that much where they are held.
Being a host of such games is a big cost so I would not want my country to hold a worldcup championships.

1. Do you like to watch football matches and are you waiting for the world championships? If so, which team will you support?
No, I think it's waste of time and money of millions of people.

2. What do you think about these games? Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea?
I don't care about such events. I think Qatar can afford an event of this scale.

3. Would you like the championships to be organized in your country someday? Or maybe it has already happened?
I think championships is a hilarious waste of money, so I hope this events would take place somewhere else.

1. Do you like to watch football matches and are you waiting for the world championships? If so, which team will you support?
Actually I am watching the most surprising game right now, Argentina vs Iceland :)

2. What do you think about these games? Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea?
I think that World Cup in Qatar is certainly going to be well organized from technical point of view, since we can count on a lot of funds invested from the money of the sheikhs. However, an interesting fact is that Qatar's area is really small as to be able to host 8 roster groups of 4 teams each playing matches. A good comparison is that 4 years later the same event will be hosted in three big countries jointly - USA, Mexico and Canada.

3. Would you like the championships to be organized in your country someday? Or maybe it has already happened ?
Well, we had Euro 2012 and it went so so. Some say that it has been a great boost for economy, others argue that maybe so, but not in line with the rules of sustainable development and a lot of investments and infrastructure developments have been not well organized financially.
I do not watch football and i don't like it as a sport, but as an old englishman once told "if you don't know who to support in football, support arsenal". I fail to see what is so hype and cool about football games, especially when people start crushing all around beating eachother and screaming in the public transprt and on the streets like this is a normal thing to do. Championship in Qatar is a good idea, because it is an opportunity for people like me to see culturally different country and learn something new. I've heard that some kind of footbal thing was organized some time ago in Ukraine, and it was a disgrace, because lots of people assigned to fund and projects funded for this event just stole good chunk of that money and ran away.

Thank you for your comment. I also like to watch football very much. Yes, we will see how it will be in Qatar for 4 years

Thanks for comment. Certainly, the organization of such a big party is very difficult. I know a few people who do not watch important sports events like you.

Football is one of my passions, so I really like to watch football matches and events like world cup are one of those things that football entusiasts can't wait for. Aside from supporting our national team I think I'll support Spain and Belgium. It's a pity that Netherlands and Italy didn't qualify, world cup without these teams is just a bit weird. I don't have nothing against Qatar organizing next world cup, they are rich country with some epic buildings, so I'm curious how the stadiums they will build will look like. Of course I would likeworld cup to be organized in Poland one day, it would be great! We have already organised EURO, so we have some stadiums built, so who knows...

Thanks for comment. Just like you, I always cheer on the weaker team. I also think that World Cup in Qatar will be a huge event

Thanks for comment. Yes, 6 years ago in Poland there was a big football event. I would like to see the world cup in Poland, maybe someday.

I have always liked to play football and in middle school I started to watch football on tv. I am always waiting for big tournaments and not only the football ones because of the atmosphere. Of course I will be routing for Poland and beside them I will support Germany because of their goalkeeper Manuel Neuer which I think plays the most interesting of all other goalkeepers. I don't know whether it is good or bad idea to for holding the next championship in Qatar. We will see how good they will prepare infrastructure for this huge tournament. I would like to see world cup organised in the
near future.

Yes I do like to watch football matches. Obviously I support Poland, but I would love to see Island to do very well in this championship. I think that FIFA world cup is a great opportunity for the hosting country to promote itself and increase tourism. Hosting next competition in Qatar is really bad idea, not only because of controversies with work slavery but also high temperatures which will make our players underperform greatly.
Yeh, im trying to watch those more interesting matches. Durring normal season im watching 80% of Real Madrids games and now ill watch most of polish team as its interestign and fun to watch. If it comes to second question, I guess i have no problem with it. At least they are not against most fifa statements like russia.
We already had Euro in poland and it kinda make big impact on us. I cannot imagine another panorama of right side without national stadium like the one we got. Also i think we could be hosts of World Cup in 2026, sadly i think it wont happen.
I am not really into football. I can watch matches with my friends just to spend some time somewhere but I am not a huge fan. Of course if our team is playing I will watch it with pleasure.
Hmm championship in Qatar sounds awesome, but I guess it might be to expensive for common people to go there and watch matches in real. By the way I've heard that Qatar is pretty restricitve and wouldn't be hard to even get there?
We had Euro 2012, as long it was fun for us it was cool but then we had to face with problems like crowds, traffics, etc. So organising champiuonship is a huge thing for country economy but for regular people it's not that valuable.

Do you like to watch football matches and are you waiting for the world championships? If so, which team will you support?
I am not a big fan of football, usually I don’t watch matches. But Word Cup is a different case, of course I will watch matches witch Poland, also I think I watch the final game, maybe with Poland. I still wait for Poland matches and I also support Poland.
What do you think about these games? Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea?
I think that is good tradition and we should support that. I think that every country had equal chances, and Qatar is good choice.
Would you like the championships to be organized in your country someday? Or maybe it has already happed ?
It already happened in 2012 and thats been good times.

1. Do you like to watch football matches and are you waiting for the world championships? If so, which team will you support?
I like more American football and rugby than soccer. But as everyone else - I support the Polish representation even if I'm not watching nor interested in this sport.

2. What do you think about these games? Do you think that the next championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea?
There will be hard to play for everyone... Most probably the temperatures would be high and make it hard for everyone living in the cooler countries.

3. Would you like the championships to be organized in your country someday? Or maybe it has already happed?
Why not? Good reason to improve transportation around cities and whole country, and after Euro 2012 it would be cheaper to reuse those stadiums we already have.

Yes, I like football and I'm watching world championship now. My favorite football team is Liverpool FC but if you ask me about national team I would choose Poland of course. I like players from Brazil but I prefer to identify with my country. I hope that they will win.
Championship in Qatar in 2022 is a good idea? Why not? I think that every country should be able to organize tournaments like this. Of course, now it is a big business and everybody thinks about money but Qatar is okay for me. Interesting place which I want to visit in the near feature.
I remember about European Championship which was organized by Poland and Ukraine. In my opinion it was very good because thanks for that we have a lot of new streets whose was created for that event.

I am not the biggest fan of football matches. However, I will watch all matches of our national team. I think Russia is well prepared to host the world championships, so as it was in Sochi.

I think organizing the world championships in Qatar is a good idea. It's not a poor country. It can definitely afford to organize the championships.

I think it's too big event to organize it in Poland. There are much more important things that we should spend money on.

1. I don’t. It’s not that I dislike football it’s just that there are more interesting things I enjoy. And I’m not a big fan of sports.
2. It’s a lucrative business and a prestigious event and since FIFA has an absolute monopoly on this kind of events they are going to play out regardless of public opinion. Unless there is strong political conflict between major powers and hosting country.
3. Not really I don’t think that Poland at it’s current level has a economic capacity to gain anything from hosting such an event.

In my whole life I watched maybe 5 football matches.
I'm totally not into sport so I'm not watching championships.

I don't know if it's good or bad idea but in my opinion Qatar will raise the challenge.

Organizing championships is a very good advertisment for country, bigger profits for local restaurants, hotels, gift shops ietc.
As I recall, We had a Euro Championships in 2012, as I said I am not into sport but it was great experience.

I can't say that I am really into football, but I enjoy watching the major championship matches. My friends gather a few times a week to watch the game, so it is always sort of fun for me. If I would have to watch the match at home alone, that may be a bit boring, so that whole ritual of spending time with friends, chatting and watching the game is a good thing. I have been at the stadium for a few times, it was exciting, but I am still not a big fan of it. When my country(Ukraine) was hosting Euro2012 alongside with Poland I have watched almost every match, but I still remember that amount of fans and tourists, so I didn't really like it. There are some advantages for the country and for the infrastructure developing, but not for the most of the citizens. So I prefer to watch the games on TV.
Unknown said…
I am not a big fan of football, I watch matches from time to time. I do it usually during finals of UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup. I watch every match that our Polish team play during tournaments like this and I will support them this time as well.
I have no opinion about next World Cup in Qatar. I know that there was many negative opinions abut this, but honestly I wasn't interested in this at all.
Similar tournament took place in Poland 6 years ago. It was a great challange for our country to meet all restrictions that had to be made and I think that this ended up with many positive aspects.

Thanks for comment. We will see after the World Cup, but I think that Russia won't do any problems, but as you wrote - it is Russia :)

Thanks for comment. The World Cup organization is certainly expensive. I really like watching the ball, but how do you feel that it is a boring sport.
Unknown said…
Thanks for comment. Your opinion is interesting, but not everyone likes sport. And this is a fact - it is a very expensive event.

Thanks for comment. I watched this match too. Unfortunately, match was quite boring, but I'm cheering on Argentina and I hope that they will go far.

I am not a fan of football in general, but as Poland citizen, I will support our national team.

I see enormous interest among my friends about current championships, so I believe doing next in Qatar is not something wrong.

Why not! It is a good time for my friends and Poland economic to host such event. We would even get some donations from other countries to help us prepare for such massive event.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form.
