Week 10 [04.06.2018-10.06.2018] WHO IS A TRUE LEADER AND WHY WE FOLLOW THEM

In this in-depth talk, ethnographer and leadership expert Simon Sinek reveals the hidden dynamics that inspire leadership and trust. In biological terms, leaders get the first pick of food and other spoils, but at a cost. When danger is present, the group expects the leader to mitigate all threats even at the expense of their personal well-being. Understanding this deep-seated expectation is the key difference between someone who is just an "authority" versus a true "leader”. I encourage you to watch Simon’s speech and try to answer questions below.

1.     Do you know someone like Johnny Bravo, a person who is ready to sacrifice his life to save the others?
2.     Do you consider yourself as a leader or do you rather prefer to follow the true authorities?

3.     Please name few qualities, which a true leader should have.

It’s hard to find someone like Johny Bravo among humans because it’s a cartoon character but, I know people who sacrifice their time and energy etc to help others. For me, it’s also important and I admire them. It’s pretty obvious that almost everyone would like to be considered as a leader but not everyone has necessary skills to become a leader. I consider myself as a leader and whenever I have the opportunity I try to lead people but in a healthy way.
Before you will try to lead people you simply have to be able to be your own leader. You should also by almost always loyal to your partners and respect them. Of course, you have to be good at speaking and encouraging people but the most important thing is that you have to be a good listener.
There are a lot of guys like Johnny Bravo, you can find them not only on facebook but also in real life. Suddenly, i don't meet them personally. My aim is to be a leader and every day i'm trying to evolve and develop all the needed skills for being a leader. First of all, if you want to be a leader, you must be a person to be heard. Also you need to be a good speaker to lead the people in a right way. No less important quality is making fast strong and right decions.

I don't consider myself a leader, because in my opinion I lack drive and charisma that is necessary to make a good leader. A good leader must not only has everything well planned, but also needs to trust in their ideas and be able to convince other people to their point of view.

No, personally I dont know such person. 'm not a leader, but i try to avoid following somebody.
true leader should care about his follower, love them and think how to make their lives better.

I don`t know this person. I think currently I am not experienced enough to be a leader, but in the nearest future I hope I will assume some qualities that I am missing. To my mind leader for sure has to have a lot of experience, otherwise people won`t follow him for a long time, also he has to have charisma, but it`s not an obligatory, other qualities like politeness, kindness, ability to make decisions under pressure of time, flexibility. Everyone follows someone for many reasons and for each person this list of qualities .

That is for sure teachers overlook that video is 45 minutes long. Saying that that is great information to watch and if you can actually use it would be really great.
I've never met people who could sacrifice themselves for happiness of other. We call them heroes but from evolution stand of view they do wrong by jeopardize there health and life to help others.
According to my pattern of behavior I would consider my self to be the hollower but when you sell so much flows in leaders and how you could do a better job you start to think of how you can become the leader yourself.
The explanation of dangers of the outside world and how destructive it is to not feel safe in your own group is the exact same argument to be made for the stopping of immigration and cultural diversity. To divide ourselves internally, to become many different entities, is a thing that weakens the group and leads to infighting.

It's hard to compare cartoon character to a real person. I don't think I know someone similar to Johnny Bravo, or at least no one comes to my mind.

I don't consider myself as a leader. A true leader should be able to encourage people, convince them to follow him. I am not good at it.
I don't know any person like Johny Bravo, and i think that man should be ready to sacrifice himself only for the ones he loves and not for anyone else. The "true" authorities for me are as criminal as any other and history proved it more than once, i prefer to be guided by my morals and surround myself with people who share this opinion. A true leader needs to be empathic and honest.

Yes, I know characters like Johny Bravo, but don't know a real people like him. In my opinion, being a leader is a hard work and mostly all can handle it when they need to. I don't like to follow and I prefer to lead only myself. A leader has to be patient - to listen his people, brave - to make hard decisions, loyal to his people and their business, and smart - to understand it all. Also leader has to be a experienced in life and a human relations - to understand and control the team.

1. Do you know someone like Johnny Bravo, a person who is ready to sacrifice his life to save the others?
I don't really know people like that. Most of the people I know just pursue their own careers and goals and do not focus on the needs of others. I guess volunteers that help elderly and disabled can be considered everyday heroes, but there are not a lot of them.

2. Do you consider yourself as a leader or do you rather prefer to follow the true authorities?
I prefer to follow law and order that are already established, as I do not feel strong or confident enough to be the leader of my life to decide what i morally good or bad. I guess that it is partially related to existentialsm, which tells us that we have free will and it is absolutely frightening.

3. Please name few qualities, which a true leader should have.
I think it should be - ability to make quick decisions and hold on to them, firmness, charisma and empathy

I don't know about any person who can be compared to Johnny Bravo. As Anna said, I think that people prefer to do things which can firstly help their own careers. I prefer to follow the true authorities because I think that I don't have qualities for being leader. I like situation when I have some propositions what can I make in my life and teach on someone's failures. I think that true leader can be describe in a few words: confident, honest, able to lead a group of people.

1. Do you know someone like Johnny Bravo, a person who is ready to sacrifice his life to save the others?

Sadly no. It is hard to find people like him. Nowadays not everyone is ready to sacrifice himself for the other people.

2. Do you consider yourself as a leader or do you rather prefer to follow the true authorities?

It depends. When I am confident I can be a leader, but when situation is not comfortable for me I would like to follow someone, who has better experience.

3. Please name few qualities, which a true leader should have.

He should be confident. It is the most important thing.

I know many people who work for the benefit of others and many of them are not leaders. I guess you would have to be in a car crash or go to war to find out who is willing to sacrifice for you. We don't face such situations very often nowadays. When I think of a leader I think of charisma, determination and maybe empathy.

I don't think that I know someone like him. Of course, there are many people like him in movies or cartoons, but I don't have anybody from real life in my mind now.
I think that I like to be my own leader and working by myself, so I think that I am something between leader and follower.
I think that true leader must care about his followers. They will follow him only if they will feel that they are also important.
I think I can be a leader but sometimes I prefer to give opportunity to make decisions to another person because sometimes I don't want to take responsibility about something.
I think that real leader must have strong character and must be responsible. Sometimes it's hard to be leader but everybody must try this role.

It’s not easy to find someone who behave like Johny Bravo nowadays but I know few people who sacrifice a lot of time to help others.
I also believe in something called Karma and I think kindness will come back to us somehow if We are good enough.

Since I remember I was a leader, at school, at parties :D many of my friends asks me what to do in various situations, they trust me, they trust my wisness.
I find myself a good leader but I know there is much things to improve.

I was talking about Johny Bravo presented in the presentation, but never mind, you are right that it is hard to find someone similar. Let's also remember that being a good listener must be balanced with speaking your emotions and feelings out loud.

You're totally right Jakub, believing in your own ideas is a key factor to be a true leader.

1. Do you know someone like Johnny Bravo, a person who is ready to sacrifice his life to save the others?

I think that i don't know in my enviroment normal people like that.

2. Do you consider yourself as a leader or do you rather prefer to follow the true authorities?

It depends. If i know that someone have biger experience and better know-how i for sure let him be a leader. But i'm rather a person who like to be a leader .

3. Please name few qualities, which a true leader should have.

Good psyhologist, brave, someone who like talking and working with people, someone who can use other people qualities.

Teaching on someone's failures in the most underrated technique in my opinion, thanks for pointing this out.
Unknown said…
Not really. I know a few people who seem like pretending to be the candidate, but I have a feelling that in case of real action they won't follow this rule.

I consider myself as a reasonable person who can manage others but also follow their ideas if they know what they are talking about. Being a good leader requires to listen a lot and the still to judge if the team or company should change its plan based on what that person said or not.

- Be able to listen to people
- Be prepared to solve others problems
- Be able to tell constructive feedback
- Be able to restrain himself

Exactly, it is something you must try to know how it feels and then decide whether you like it or not. Don't be scared to take responsibility tho.

True leader shoud be charismatic, brave and caring. Being a true leader is not something easy. Most of people would like to be a leader but they think only about advantages of it. Being a leader has also a lots of responsibilities and if you do not accomplishing them you will not be treated like a true leader. I know leader who would sacrifice his live for others. He is a soldier and also a leader in his team. His mates from company trust him and as a true leader he would do anything to save them from death even if he would die in the worst way. Personally I can be a leader but I know that someone can be better than I am and I respect that. If I know it I let him lead without any word. But he has to be better than me instead of thinking than he is better than me.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
