Week 10 [04.06.2018-10.06.2018] VAR

VIDEO ASSISTANT REFEREE
We all know how popular and beneficial football is.Every day thousands of people sit in front of TV watching a match, the others watch it alive at the stadium. It happens more than once that we support our team, which we consider should be better, but it doesn’t  win because of the mistakes of the  referees. This is where the VAR( Video Assistant Referee) system comes in handy

What is VAR ?
The video assistant referee (VAR) is a football assistant referee which reviews the decisions made by the head referee with the use of video footage and a headset for communication. This is very helpful in some cases, such as :
·         Verification whether a goal has been scored correctly,
·         Verification if an appliance has been properly on offside
·         Verification if a player has been fouled in the penalty box,
·         Verification whether a player has been brutally fouled
How does VAR work ?
When there are 3 or 5 referees on the field (depending on the league), there is a group of people behind the field in the room full of monitors . They are watching the match, and they are checking the events on the field. The communication between the main referee and the helping group works in both directions. The main referee of the match can ask for help if he does not know exactly what decision he will make. It is also possible to communicate when the assistant group sees a clear error and informs the referee.
Where does VAR work ?
The VAR football system is slowly being introduced while in volleyball it has been in use for years. The system is only used in some leagues, e. g.  Polish, German. However, this system  is still not used  in the Champions League, where this season (2017 / 2018), the referees made a lot of mistakes, which cost some teams to fall out of the Champions League. Luckily, the VAR will be at this annual World Championship in Russia.
Is this the only system in football ?
For several years now, football has had a different system  to help the football referees. It is a Goal-line technology that detects whether a ball has crossed the goal line. When the ball crosses the goal line, a message appears on the referee's clock. The system is very helpful and works very effectively. The initiative for this system came after the World Cup in South Africa when a player from England scored the correct goal, but it was not recognized .

Do you watch football matches?
Do you think that this system should be introduced?
Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?

I watch matches but not very often because of lack of time but whenever I have the opportunity I do. I’m not sure whether I’m a proper person to answer this question but… I think that this system should be introduced. It’s new and I think that due to technology growth we have to use such solutions. Being a referee is very difficult but we have always to keep in mind that he is only a human and may make mistake. This system could be a great solution and reduce amount of disputes.

I am not a big fan of football, but from time to time I like to watch a match. The most common leagues that I watch are Champions Leauge, La Liga, and Ekstraklasa. For sure I will watch all matches of Polish national football team on the World Cup. I hope that they will qualify at least for the quarterfinals.

In my opinion, this system should be introduced in every possible league. The result of the match should not be based on judge`s mistakes.

I don't have any other idea how to help the referees in their job.

At first I was a bit skeptic to this idea as I thought it would kill the dynamics of the matches. Now, as I have seen this system in action I'm more convinced about it and I think it should be introduced. Nowadays, in football everything on the field is happening faster than it used to be some years ago and sometimes it's really hard for referee to rate every situation correctly. Thanks to VAR, we could get rid of the controversy which is now unfortunately a big part of the football world (especially in LaLiga and Champions League). On the other hand, I'm also wondering if we wouldn't miss these controversial decisions which sometimes make a match more emotional and memorable. ;)
Yes, i'm watching most of matches of my favourites teams and i really understand a need for var as i'm real madrid's fan. Also i think that it will kill some part of a fun and now there will be almost no controversy which was a piece of whole idea which is football match. There won't be anymore drama about some referee decision which was really emotional at a moment. After all i'm still happy that var is going to be used in more countries next seson.
I'm not a big football fan. I watch the Champions League games sometimes. I think football is such a dynamic sport that the judge is not able to catch all non-compliant situations. The players have also come to perfection in fouling themselves, which only makes the judgment more difficult. I believe that such a system can help to assess the situation correctly. On the other hand, by checking every millimeter the game's charm is lost.

I am not a football fan anymore for quiet a long time, because I have no interest in watching pre-paid agreements behind the field, how they act on the field differ from when I have been watching football. Maybe if VAR will register all moment where players breaking rules and especially the most irritating for me "simulation", then maybe I will even start watching it again.

I don't watch any sport on tv. I'm not really interested in that.
The idea of VAR sounds really good, I think that if it were introduced, it could eliminate many disputes and make people feel that the game is more fair.
Maybe introducing more referees would make the job easier for them.

I watch football matches, mostly the Champions League and national tournaments. VAR is already working in some leagues and it is definitely good change, as it can help a referee to make the right decision or correct a mistake. And I don't know why it is still not introduced in CL where in the past years there was many big controversies around terrible judging. I can't think of any different idea to help the referees, first the VAR system should become a standard in every major league.

I don't ever watch football matches as I consider it to be a complete waste of time. I just don't get it at all, how can it be so exciting for many. There are, of course, sports that I consider to be even worse, but I just don't like this one either. It's pretty meaningless and oftentimes fake. When it comes to the Champions League, it's not even a pure competition and a fun game anymore. It has grown on a such large scale that it's the show. Whichever country wins, grants itself a really large benefits.
I think that this and some other systems should be introduced, to make the players unable to influence the results. Maybe then it would become a little bit more interesting.
My idea is to introduce penalties for acting in a fake manner as well as to introduce more IT-based systems to detect such behaviors.

I am not a big fan of football, but from time to time I like to watch a match. actualy i prefer to watch Rugby.
I think, this system should be introduced in every league it's definitly will be better for all, even introducing this system would make the job easier for referee and of course The result of the match should not be based on the some mistakes.

Yes, I agree with you, the football referee is only a human, which is why the Var system is so important.

I also will be watching the World Cup, I hope that Poland will come far.

Yes I do watch football matches especially Premier League. VAR system was introduced already in FA Cup previous year but it was full of flaws and referees didn’t really use it. Because of that all English clubs voted strongly against incorporating that system. I think that if VAR was more reliable it would solve problems with incorrect decision making of referees regarding fair-play and difficult to spot fouls on the pit.
Unknown said…
I was also afraid for this system, but I think that this system is good and I care more about a fair result than about emotions.
Unknown said…
Yes, i agree with you and also you don't have to worry about the speed of the match, because this system works service only in tough call.
Unknown said…
I think exactly the same as Manchester United's fan. ;)
Unknown said…
I hope you will start watching football again, because that would mean that the VAR system is good.
Unknown said…
I agree with your statement and i also want, that referees have easier job.
Unknown said…
I agree with you in 100 %.

I agree with you in 100 %.
I do not watch football and i hope i never will. VAR system seems like a good idea, becuse it must be pretty hard for one guy to catch all the things that are happening on the field, so the more the merrier! To help the referies, i dunno give them more money? I think that billions spent on football is not enough, we need countries dedication all their budget on football.
I do not watch sports. I'm not very interested in this.
I think this system should be implemented in every sport, of course, the result of the match should not be based on the judge's mistakes. Being a judge is very difficult, but we must always remember that he is only human and can make a mistake. This system can be an excellent solution and reduce the number of disputes and quarrels.

Do you watch football matches?
No I don't.

Do you think that this system should be introduced?
Why not, machines work better than people.

Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?
No, I don't, because I don't like football at all.
Unknown said…
Yes. I like watching football games, especially I love watching matches in the Champions League. Now I am waiting especially for the matches of Poland in the FIFA world cup.

The system already works in some football leagues. I know in the Champions League that isn't there, but supposed to be. I think this is a cool technology, but you also have to use it correctly so that you don't interrupt the game at any time.

I don't have. Judges make mistakes and it will be so. This is part of the game.

I watch football matches from time to time but I prefer watching tennis on TV.
This kind of systems should be introduced in order to allow the right decisions to be made by referees and umpires and prevent the from distorting the results

Of course I watch football matches. Each match of our Polish team is like a holiday to me. Many people think that with the VAR system football won’t be the same. I think it is a very good idea. It will resolve a lot of unfair situations. I think that this system will help referees a lot. Referees are not able to notice everything but also often help for example the star team.
Im not really into football neither im into watching games of it, but what i can say is that what baffled me every time i watched the game and a controversial referee call happened everyone and their mother refused to use replay as a reference to call the decision. We as a viewers had more information about that happened then referee had.
I think that we should start with referee having an option to watch a replay based on a situation. Ive seen that happen in competitive fencing to a great extend and it was really useful.
1) Do you watch football matches?
No, I don't like football.

2) Do you think that this system should be introduced?
I have heard about this system few years ago also I have heard about system when in ball inserted chip that allow to detect when ball cross the gates in football and I think that this technology is very interesting.

3) Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?
No because I do not specialized in football.

Do you watch football matches?
I am not a huge soccer fan, but since the World Cup is coming soon, I will definitely watch the Poland matches, and probably some of the others too :) I think it is a nice way to spend a night out, drinking a beer with friends.

Do you think that this system should be introduced?
Yes, of course. Actually, I never understood why it wasn't introduced earlier, as I know that the technology is not new. All I've heard is that it interfered with the classical game spirit, where it was up to referee to decide on the field.

Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?
I think VAR would be enough, since they would be able to watch the same thing as viewers in front of the screen, and it is often enough to judge in the contentious issue.

Do you watch football matches?
I don't like soccer at all. I prefer other sports or American football.

Do you think that this system should be introduced?
Although I don't watch it I think it is useful system.

Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?
No. I don't even know all rules of the soccer and it's the topic I don't considered anytime before.
No I don't. Sometimes I'll watch important match of our representation just to spend time with my friends but I am not really into football. Yes I think VAR should be introduced as it would eliminate unfair decisions, everything woul be on tape so there should be no controversy about referee decision. I did not consider this at all. I don't have any suggestions as I don't really know what are the problems of nowadays referees.

Yes, I love football. I'm watching every Liverpool FC game for 5 years. I didn't miss any game! It's the most important for me. During match day I'm very worried about that but I like it. Football is my favorite sport. I think that VAR should be introduced to every professional league. It can help because there are a lot of preposterous situation when legit goal is disallowed. Actually, referees can use it in some tournaments but it's unfinished technology for me. What I am talking about? I have seen situation when referee has took a bad decision even if he used VAR. We need that system but it should be introduce very slowly. I think that VAR is enough but they should fix some rules.

I may watch football match once or twice a year when my friends or relatives tell me about it. I don’t really like football but sometimes it’s pretty interesting for me to see top level performance.

To my mind it could be introduced but there is no guarantee that this system will be deployed. There is no reason not to show this to the people. It’s kind of a brand new invention that could make life a little bit easier.

No, I don’t. It’s hard for me to come up with any idea especially if I am not interested it this topic.

I think that nowadays football is one of the most unfair and our of control sport. Maybe that's why it is so popular. No doubt, VAR is going to change football player's behaviour. Actually players are prepared to simulate a foul which in my opinion kills the spirit of sport.
I think there are a lot of technologies that are able to make a game fully fair, but we have to find the golden mean between sport and technology to keep the sport spectacular

Do you watch football matches?

Sometimes yes. For example when there is a big tournament or something like that. I am not a big fan of a football.

Do you think that this system should be introduced?

Yes. It is weird that it's still not introduced. It will help to follow the rules of this sport.

Do you have any other ideas to help the referees?

Sadly no. I don't know what they expect.
Unknown said…
In my whole life I watched about 5 matches so I'm not really into football.
I think this system will resolve many conflicts and referees mistakes would become rarity.
As I said, I'm not really into football so I can't find any sensible ideas to help the referees

1. I have to say that I am not a big fan of football but I always watch matches our national representation becuase it is an exciting experience.

2. Do you think that this system should be introduced?
Yes, it should be introduced because I think that now a lot of football players cheated during matches what it is a pathetic.

3. As I already said, I am not a big fan of football and I am not a specialist so it is hard for me to give better proposition than a VAR system.

Of course I watch football matches. Unfortunately, I don't have time to seat every sunday and watch league matches, but I watch every Championship league and our national team match. I remember one of the Mundial matches, England vs Germany, where referee didn't see properly scored goal for England. From that moment I knew, that some VAR-like system should be introduced, especially in such big events. I'm happy, that it will be introduced in Russia this month.

I am not big fan of football, but I watch matches from time to time. Especially with our national team, for sure I will be watching all matches during World Cup this year.
I am very surprised that this system is not introduced yet. In my opinion technology is very developed now and it would be easy to introduce dome kind of system that would help referees judging outstanding situations.
I think that VAR system is enough and don't have any others ideas to improve referees work at the moment.

I don't like watching sports much. I only do this with my friends where there are significant events like world championships or so. I do think that this system should be introduced. We should add technology to our lives. We should limit human-made mistakes.

I don't have any other ideas on how to help the referees.

Football is just boring for me and I do not watch it. I have never been excited by football in my entire life but I understand some people can just sit and watch and be amazed by the skills of players and scream in 120dB when goal is scored. System is really interesting and I think it is really helpful and can prevent a mistake of referee. There is a possibility that a referee just could not see something and without system he or she just cannot decide what to do and with VAR it is just a moment to know what happened. I have no idea how we could help more because it is really good system and I think if it is going to be in champions league there is nothing to add.

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds often come fr

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and naturally.
