Week 7 [14.05-20.05.2018] Scuba Diving in Egypt

                                             SCUBA DIVING IN EGYPT

Couple years ago I have pleasure to participate in scuba diving event in Egypt. It was stunning experience! On our trip there was a leaflet about diving on a cruise it was quite expensive but it was worth it. Diving into the sea, seeing those colorful sea creatures ( one turtle and a lot of fishes) was amazing. Under water I felt like in space. It is a bit confusing when gravity apply on your body differently.

                            http://centrum-nurkowe-slask.pl/nurkowanie-w-egipcie-pazdziernik-2016/
We were lucky because of this turtle and as our coach said they are pretty rare because of the tourists, 10 years ago they were common in the water but nowadays due to big demand and contamination the hydrosphere there are less and less of them… Unfortunatelly.

During my diving, afar I saw a barracuda it is a aggressive fish for a human unlike for example shark ( did you know that probability of being bitten by a shark is 1/264 million and winning main reward in Lotto  1/14 million). My friend once told me that during his diving safari in Egypt one of the participants, forgot to take off her earring and barracudas are like crows they do like shiny things, she was bitten very badly ( she had broken skull, half of the ear was eaten), so having this in mind I kind of freaked out but fortunately this monster swam away and I have to tell you that even though was really far from me that I barely see it I felt really vulnerable. I could only imagine how would it feel to dive near sharks or bigger fishes, it terrifies and simultaneously excites me !
As I experienced diving is not that easy as I thought before. If you have sufficient level in diving and you can dive without instructor it turns out that is not only goin under water and breath with air from bottle. You need to know everything about streams in specific area, when to go down and when you should wait before going up after diving on a certain depth you need to wait couple of hours before surfacing from the water, it is because of the pressure and becaus your blood is diluted since you have been breathing with special blend of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen for and hour or hours.

On the image above we can see that the pressure falls  as long as you are going deeper and deeper. To be specific in salt water every 10 meteres is one atmosphere.
During dive, diver can control his position by pumping and releasing air in his vest it is thing that you need to learn with the experience to know exactly how much of it should you use to avoid touching coral reef and a ground.

  1.  Have you ever tried diving ? Do you liked it or not?
  2. Are you afraid of depth ? Would you try diving into the cave?
  3. What do you know about risk of diving?

Yes, I dived and this is a very pleasant activity and I highly recommend it to people who like beautiful landscapes. I dived in Poland and abroad, but I never had the opportunity to dive in a cave, but I think that when I have the opportunity I will certainly dive. Of course I know the difficulties and the risk of diving because I have a diving patent made and I know that it is not for everyone especially for people who have a pressure problem.
Thanks for your comment ! Yes I do agree with your statement, underwater world is amazing and colorfull, everyone should see it by themselves. What kind of patent do you have , I mean which of the level did you obtain ? I've only heared about diving places in Poland, as I remember it is somewhere on the West of Poland right ? I am glad you enjoyed diving as well :)

Every summer I am going to diving and its one of my favorite hobbies.
I'm not afraid of two things, deep and high altitude and depth . A diving in the cave is one of the most beautiful diving areas in the world. The beauty of nature under the sea gives me a delicate calmness.

I have never dived, but once I travelled on BlaBlaCar with a marine that came from coast guard, and they primarily dived. He explained to me the issue of controlling pressure on different levels of submersion and how your head could explode if you just decided to swim right away to the surface from the depths. He also recommended some diving spots in Poland. He assured me that the best places to dive in our country were the abandoned mines which collected water. I think I would like to try deep-water diving one day.

I've never dived with scuba gear before and always wanted to do this, unfortunately, I hadn't had any occasion.
No, not really. I rather would say I'm more afraid of heights than depths.
Well, I know that it's important to not make any rapid dives and submerges especially when you work on depth more than 20 meters. If you try to do so, your blood will start to coagulate due to abrupt changes in pressure which can cause death. When coagulation starts, usually you don't have too much time to react and save a person, so it's important to keep that in my mind when you try scuba diving for the first time.
Yes, you're completely right! I am planing to do some sort of degree in diving but it is pretty expensive. In this summer maybe I'll try to save some money and finally went for a 2 week trip just for diving its kind of my dream :)
You should definitely try this! About interesting diving places in Poland there are few but I know that divers from America are jelous about our closeness to Egypt which is known from one of the best diving places in the World. Interesting thought about underwates mines I would try it for sure:)
Yeah it is a serious problem, but to be honest I don't think that avarage person with no heart issues would suffer from this at the first diving. When you're diving first time you are always with some experienced supervisor who would not allow you to get deeper thatn 20 meters.

I have never tried diving in my life but definitely would like to give it a try. All those amusing pictures from sea bottom worth to see by my own eyes.
I don't afraid depth, rather afraid to panic and die due to some blood issues. Caves are the most interesting part actually at least for me.
There is a huge pile of things that cant go wrong under the water so I would prefer to someone to instruct me first and dive with professional instructor.

I have never dived but I would like to, unfortunately I have had sick sinuses since childhood. The change in pressure makes me feel pain. I have the same situation when I change the height. I have a friend who has been diving for a long time. He works in a diving company and he goes diving all over Europe. When I see his pictures, sometimes I envy his views. I said, I have never dived and think that I would be a little afraid to dive in caves.

Have you ever tried diving ? Do you liked it or not?
No, I didn't, but I want to try it in the future. It seems to be great way to spend time at the coasts during summer.

Are you afraid of depth ? Would you try diving into the cave?
Well... I'm afraid of depth only when thinking of diving in the seas and oceans. And I wouldn't try diving into anything with hard celling above my head, at least in the beginning of my diving experience. And of course - not diving there alone.

What do you know about risk of diving?
I know about the pressure risks, when going up or down too quickly and I know about the danger of different animals, that are living in the water and were never met by non-divers. But I also know, that there are a lot more dangers and risks than I know about.
Yes, I have tried diving in Egypt once and I found really amazing. The depth was around 6-7 meters but it was just enough to see all those corals and unique fishes that I have never seen before. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who has never tried it.
I wouldn’t say that I am afraid of depth I am rather afraid of the pressure that growth rapidly. It made my first experience a little bit unpleasant but after all I don’t regret trying it.
The thing I would take care most is defective equipment because if something goes wrong on such depth it may end dramatically. Thus I would never dive on my own.

I have never tried diving but I definitely would like to try it sometime, somewhere where water is clean. I don't think that I would be afraid of depth if I had tank with air on my back. But I know that diving into cave can be very dangerous as you can lost your orientation and I wouldn't do that only by myself.
I am experienced swimmer and always wanted to try diving, but unfortunately never did, i really like the idea though and am looking forward to try it one day. I am a bit scared of depth, especially when i cannot see, but with appropriate equipment i am sure i would be okay and would definitely try to divei nto a cave. As for dangers the most obvious to me is malfunctioning of equipment, inexperience and panicking, and the most dreaded (but usually with no reason at all) - sharks =3.

Yes I did try scuba diving and it was also in Egypt. That was couple of years ago in Sharm el Sheikh which is placed near the coral reef. It was a nice experience, views were marvelous and scenery pretty unique. I am not afraid of depth and certainly would try diving into a cave, assuming that the place is worth visiting! It’s so sad that I haven’t seen caves back when I was in Egypt, the terrain was (as I remember) flat excluding parts of the coral reef. I know nothing particular about risk of diving, apart from obvious things like pressure between air stored inside your lungs and water which changes on different depth levels.

I have never tried diving before, but I would like to try once. It`s hard for me to tell whether I am afraid of depth or not, because on the one hand it`s scary for me when I dive deep without equipment because water pressure there is insane and on the other hand the deeper I get the more beautiful ocean seems to me. There are lots of risks while you dive starting from dangerous species living deep in the ocean ending with probable technical issues.
I'm dream to dive sometime but I have not been yet in place where a lot of interesting things under water. Once I have a chance to dive in black sea in Batumi, Georgia but for several reasons we canceled this intention. I don't afraid of depth and think that diving can be even very good hobby for me so I will try this next time 100%. I have tried to dive in lake on village but there was short try without deep diving. At this time I don't know enough about risks but I think instructor will describe them before diving.

I've never tried diving, but I would love to try it. The only thing I have tried was snorkeling. The scuba diving is definitely on my bucket lists, but this list is quite long...

It's hard to tell if I am afraid of depth. It's important in life to overcome fears.

My dad has got the license for diving and from his experience, I know that there is a lot of things we should care about when we are underwater. It's important not to dive alone because it's becoming even more dangerous. I saw a lot of documentary films about diving which prove it.

I have never tried diving. I probably would be scared of my lungs exploding. Nevertheless, I would like to try. I’m tempted by underwater scenery that is so different from what we see aboveground. Another thing would probably a thrill and a risk that has to be taken into account especially when going into the underwater cave. On the other hand, I’m not willing to invest too much time into it. I know that you must first pass some form of training and then probably train some more. I would be satisfied just with basics and the easiest diving so that excludes caves.

I have never tried diving but I would like to try it.. maybe this summer? Firstly, it can be hard for me but it's very interesting to see what is in the see not only in photos/National Geographic programs. I don't know about my afraid of depth because I have never been in situation like that. Swimming is the only water sport what I have tried :P Risk of diving? If we are not talking about technic failure I can only guess. If oxygen is the most important that maybe bad decision of going down if you don't have enough in oxygen tank? Additionally, you don't know what is waiting for you on the bottom (sharks etc.) and you have to be very careful.

I tried. Unfortunately, only at the pool. I would like to try to dive at sea someday. I liked it very much.

I'm afraid. But I would like to try to dive in the cave. I hope I will have such an opportunity once.

I don't know too much. But I can guess. For sure that can end up with a cylinder with air. Or there may be something else underwater. Some sea fish or anything else can attack us.

I have never tried diving but I would really like to do it some day. I like swimming and the idea of exploring underwater world seems very interesting to me.
I'm not claustrophobic so I guess that I could do well in a depth of an underwater cave. Nevertheless I certainly wouldn't risk diving into any cave without a well experienced guide with me.
From your article it seems that the risk of being eaten by shark is not that big actually but there are some more dangerous risks coming from being too inexperienced and too confident - for example, you can put yourself in danger if you dive into a cave without any guide.

1. Have you ever tried diving ? Do you liked it or not?
I've tried diving and snorkeling multiple times in my life. Both of these activities were surprisingly fun and addictive, so yes, I definitely liked it. Moreover, I found snorkeling more attractive, because it requires much less time to prepare.

2. Are you afraid of depth ? Would you try diving into the cave?
I didn't have a chance to dive deeper than 7 meters, but I think everything is a matter of practice. The more you train the more confident you become and you're less afraid of depth in this case. After proper trainings and preparations, I would definitely try diving into the cave.

3. What do you know about risk of diving?
You've mentioned blood dilution in your presentation and this is totally true. To be honest, this is the most common risk you take when going into the water.

I tried diving once time in Spain but it wasn't deep. I don't think that is nice. I rather prefer to be outside the wather.
I'm rather afraid of depth. I feel hesitantly in wather, i feel that it's not my environment and I'm weak link. I won't be excited if i will should diving into the cave.
As I said , I don't like water and staying in water. I'm not interested about diving once again so i don't have great knowledge about it.

Unfortunately, I haven't got opportunity to dive yet, but I guess that it's really amazing experience, so if I ever got a chance, I would definitely give it a shot! I don't know if I'm afraid of depth, maybe if I would be experienced enough in diving I would try to swim into the cave, but rather not alone. ;) I don't have any specific knowledge about risks of diving, but I believe that the variety of creatures living in the oceans/seas is so wide that you could never be sure about yourself undrewater. ;)

Never plunged with diving. I'm not afraid of depths, but I saw a show in which one entertainment was shown: in a large iron cage you are immersed in the ocean with sharks and they float around the cage. I'm not afraid of water and depth, but I think in such a stressful situation anything can happen. I like to swim with a mask in Egypt, not at great depth, but in a place where there are many beautiful colored fish and interesting turtles.
Well, i never dived for real. I love to do it on pools for example as i really like feeling of beeing under water as long as it's going as planned.
Gosh, never thought about it but, i think it will be very stresful for the first time. I would be afraid that i won't be able to emerge or i'll run out of oxygen. I also feel much respect to the water, i always think twice before i jump in from a yaht or just outside from swimming zones.
Well, before this presentation i haven't really thought about it.

Unfortunately, I have never tried scuba-diving, but it’s on my wishlist.
I don’t know if I would be scared as I have never dived before, but I think after few hours of training with instructor I would try to dive into the cave.
The key takeaway for me are: pressure differences on the different depths and special, different from air gas used to fill diving cylinders.
Have you ever tried diving ? Do you liked it or not?
Are you afraid of depth ? Would you try diving into the cave?
What do you know about risk of diving?
Honestly, i have a huge amount of chances to try it, but i was afraid of it so much, so i didn't do it. I would rather say that i'm afraid of height. Definitely i would try it, but someday. There is no risk when you are under the direction of teacher or any kind of instructor. I love so much extreme kind of sports and certainly you need to understand that you are the only one who is responsible for your life.

I had an opportunity to dive once and I must say it was really enjoyable expierence. It's indescribable feeling and in the future I will repeat that for sure. I though I'm not affraid of depth but after first immersion I felt bad and had to have a break for one minute. After that it was all okay. To add I was with instructor, so everything was under control.
You should always be aware of a risk of diving. You have to follow the rules and never do ridiculous things, because it can end up tragically.
You should ! This is an amazing experience , to be honest wneh youre diving with specialists everything should work as planned. It is not rocket science so I guess you should try it without any hesitation. Yeah diving in a cave is not for everyone , especially people with claustrophobia but others should try it for sure :)
Haha, cool no problem :D Obviously diving is not for everyone , thanks for sharing your doubts :) Maybe some day you would give it a try I hope you would, as it is an unforgetable experience to be underwater (of course with all of the special equipment, to be honest Into diving is almost 100% safe so think about it).
As much as i would like to go diving someday, im scared by deep water. So its not for me i cant imagine myself being on the mercy of nature for "fun".
There is a reason why we have explored most of our world, oh wait only the land part. Oceans remain 90% unexplored by humans for couple reasons, and as long as that's the case ill stick to land or controlled environments.
Risks of diving sight unfortunately a lot even with our current technology. Not only u can get easily stuck under the water we also rely on our apparatus to breathe underwater 2 fail points here. We can add to this sickness from decompression, natural dangers coming from ocean lives, nature of how currents work, pollution of the oceans and wrecks there are dozen ways to die/ get hurt while diving.

Last time I tried was not in a very deep water, and I burned my back watching fishes.
Depth is my biggest fear, I was close to sink twice, surely I would try diving throw the cave, sound like an awesome experience. I didn't heard about all possible risks, only about a basic one, they say it's a risk to sink.
Patryk Górski said…
1. I didn't. To be honest it must be awesome, so I will definitely try it in the nearest future.

2. I am a bit of claustrophobic person, so caves could be too dangerous for me. But depth shouldn't be a big problem. Scuba diving sounds very interesting, it's like discovering a new world in the sea.

3. Not so much. I've never tried to do it, so it's hard to know something about any risk involved. I will let you know when I will try it
I have never tried diving in my life but definitely would like to give it a try. I don’t know if I would be scared as I have never dived before, but I think ill deal with it.

1. Have you ever tried diving ? Do you liked it or not?

I have never tried a diving but I hope that someday I will try it because it sounds like a very exciting hobby. It can gives you a addrenaline and also you can see very beautiful aqua plants and animals which lives under the water. I know this views only from natures programes in a TV but as I said already I will happily try it.

2. Are you afraid of depth ? Would you try diving into the cave?

I am not sure but probably I wouldn't try to diving into the cave for my first time diving.

3. What do you know about risk of diving?
I have to admit that I don't know much about details about diving but I am conscious that it takes some risk to try it.

I have never tried diving, but for sure I will try it this summer!
I have never been in situation that would trigger fear of depth. I think that diving into cave is exciting experience and if I will ever have opportunity I would do it.
Diving is risky as others extreme sports. You gamble with your health but reward is worth it.
Unknown said…
No, unfortunately I haven’t, but I’d love to! It seems like big fun!
Nah, I think I’m not afraid of depth, which is good. On the other hand - I’m afraid of heights :/. If I were given an opportunity - of course I will try diving into the cave. I always loved scenes like that in movies.
I don’t know about risks of diving, maybe something with pressure?
Unknown said…
Yes, I've tried it 3 times, and all were in Egypt. I liked it really a lot, it was amazing, like a window to whole new reality!
Depth- one of two the most scary things for me, but I would still try to dive into the cave, because it should be so interesting!
Well, I know that there are things that you don't need to touch, and that you should keep your eyes on that thing that shows how much air lasts. Everything else I've seen only in some thrillers, so i don't think that all that stuff is correct)

I don't afraid depth, but I'm afraid of presure, and impossibility to quickly return to the top.

What do you know about risk of diving?
I think that it depends of what kind of diving you choose. But I think it don't riskier then driving a car or crossing a street.

i have never tired diving because its actually really expensive . many people said that i should try it on vacation , they recommended me some good and cheap diving school in Croatia , Egypt or even Poland . i'm scared of big black oceans . i would not go i think. going down into unknown dark caves under water sounds like the scariest horror movie, i know that i will never be brave enough to dive and admire ocean . the huge risk of diving also discourage me from trying . you never know if you will not meet a dangerous shark or other monster . when you are going deep into the ocean you always have to keep your eyes wide open , because there may be danger around every corner.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
