Have you
ever wondered what is the key to happiness?
Almost
everyone, everywhere wants to be happy – this is obvious. Some people try to be
very positive, some look for something from “outside” which will make them
happy – jewellery, cars, toys, clothes and other goods. Some people think that
their hobby will make them happy – sports, dance, cooking or other. There are
also people who want to be better and want to make the world a better place –
charity and others. There is also a group of people who think that they won’t
be happy – they don’t deserve it, it is too hard or it is impossible to be
happy at all.
Is there a
simple key to happiness? Is there a way to be happier than we are now?
Please,
watch this video:
Questions:
1. Do you agree, that this “magic human
trait” may make people happier? If you disagree – why?
2. What makes you happy? Are there any
actions, thoughts or incentives that make you feel happy?
3. How would you describe being happy? (Is
it something in your mind, is it something that is felt in all your body?)
I’m curious about your opinion.

What makes me happy? Having person that loves and supports me is most important for me. Health of me and my family is also matters for me. Other things, less important, that makes me happy are: having challenging tasks during work/school and having opportunity of doing sport after hard day. Also achieving something special makes me fell great, but as I said earlier love is one of the most important factor in my opinion.
Being happy from a science point of view is just a chemistry process. From more social point of view, being happy is a state of mind, that allows you to enjoy life.
To be being grateful is almost same thing as appreciate things, situations, people. Can you be happy when you don't appreciate for example someone you love?
I'm happy when I achieve something, when I had a kind talk with someone, when I've done something important, and so on - I think most of us have similar way of being happy.
By the way, after this video comes "Men and the power of the Visual" which is quite funny and interesting to watch :)
I can't specify, what makes me happy. Happines it is not something that you feel for some period of time, it is some special state of the mind, when you don't bother about problems and feel calm. It is really hard to achieve such state, more harder is to understand it.
Same thing is with being grateful. You can think and you know what you want be grateful for. You will be grateful for help, but not the one which will make you work more.
We are not in Dark Ages and you can decide what you want to think.
It's hard to tell what makes me happy. Sometimes it's getting something I always wanted to have and sometimes it's just a "feeling of peace" I have from time to time.
I believe being happy is a state of mind when we aren't worried about anything and we're thinking only about positive things.
What makes me happy the most is having a lot of spare time to get rest, read some books and spend time in whatever way I want. Why something as simple? Just because I don't have much time lately for myself. I'm much more grateful for having some spare time now.
I would describe being happy as the secretion of certain neurochemicals inside our bodies which trigger some kind of feelings and behaviors.
How I can describe happiness? It's very hard... It's not smiling all the time for me, it's something what I can feel inside.
I agree that being spoiled is a great issue. I had got a similar thought few days ago. Me and my sister went for shopping and I wanted to buy our brother one more thing for Christams and my sister stopped me, saying that now he is small, and if he will used to get view presents he will never be happy with one, as it will not be enought. She was right - now, he has got a change to learn hot to appreciate things and presents. It's not about number of present, but a fact that he got one.
I have got similar situation. I was working a lot and few days ago my boss told me, that all team can take a few days off - in just one moment I felt so happy, I imaginated myself resting, reading books, walking with my dog - small activities, that almost doesn't matter, but can bring happiness.
When I'm listening to my sister, who is unbearable but lovely, when I'm looking at my little brother, when he is playing around, when my dog comes to me to cuddle - I can feel something like warm inside. Calm, no thoughts - just appreaciating moment.
2.It is a difficult question as many things can bring me joy, satisfaction or simply make me happy. Undoubtedly, I really enjoy accomplishing tasks which I was assigned as this brings me satisfaction and lets me rely on myself and even simple things cause happiness in my life e.g.: doing good workout at the gym, talking to my team mates at work, visiting good restaurants etc.
3.I would describe being happy as feeling calm, relaxed and confident.
I agree that expecting less isn't a good thing - it won't lead to anywhere.
It is good and it makes it easier, when you can find happiness in your everyday life.
I believe thinking you do not deserve everything helps me remember I should work on myself. Because if you think you just deserve that tea, you don't appreciate it. And if you don't get the tea you get mad. And that's not making you happy at all, I guess.
It's very difficult to describe being happy. I would say happiness is when what you think, feel and do is truly coherent.
It makes sense that being grateful makes people happy. It's hard to imagine ungrateful person being happy, thats true. What makes me happy are usually small things. I've remembered a quote which I like "Szczęście jest w tysiącu drobiazgów,
tworzących mozaikę życia codziennego" (by Konopnicka I guess) which in english would be something like "Happines is in a thousand details of everyday life's mosaic". It's not only about the moment when you win the lottery, it shouldn't be.
I am definitely for such understanding of “magic human trait” as mentioned in the video. Of course we can quarrel about definition of “happiness”, but when we look for the real state of this kind, we have to agree it is not connected to the outside staff, but it can only be inside us, it must go from our inside. And it does not depend on external events, which we can always interpret good or bad, our attitude is our decision in fact, always. I know it is difficult to accept, when we deal with catastrophes, deaths and other bad things in our life. Sometimes we just need some time to go farther, but after all it always depends on us, if we can see everything positively or negatively, if we can find inspiration and hope even in difficult and tragic situation.
2. Referring to the point 1, finding hope in hopeless situation gives me a real happiness feelings. But if we talk about everyday happiness, I keep on appreciating all the small things I meet, I love to take part in fanny – strange situations, and also I love solving sophisticated problems in work, it gives me one of the biggest pleasure to look for a solution which I implement and the result is successful.
3. Being happy for me is a state of my mind, controlling my thoughts and life aspirations versus my life rules. I just need to be honest towards myself, to feel good with my decisions and to have peace in my mind. Simply saying, I need to feel I do everything well and I am a good person. That gives me internal happiness. All the other things are everyday pleasures, felt in head, body, heart – it is very tempting to fight to achieve them. We want or not, our human instinct pushes us too look for them, to point towards them, although sometimes we don’t know, if they will be really good for us.
