Week 8 [04.12 - 10.12.2017] David Lynch and Twin Peaks

David Lynch and Twin Peaks

Not long time ago the third season of the most legendary TV show ever was born. The Twin Peaks TV show is something completely unique.  We were given 25 years to understand what is going on in it to have an explanation. For those of you who never heard of it, here are the trailers.

There is no child of my generation who have never heard the soundtrack or haven't seen the moments from the show. Who killed Laura Palmer and how did it happen. That’s the main question.

David Lynch is an artist, musician, producer, director and a screenwriter and a photographer.  He is was nominated for lots of awards at the 1980’s. Even won some of them. He also is very well known for his movies “The Elephant Man” of 1980 and “Mulholland drive” of 2001.  You can read a little bit about his biography https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lynch HERE.

But let me tell you about something not copy-pasted from Wikipedia. The Twin Peaks was first launched in 1990 and the second finished in 1991 with a very curious phrase of Laura Palmer “I will see you in twenty five years. Meanwhile...” Afterwards, the short movie named “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me” was released. Nobody thought that after the 25 years the director will produce the 3d season. Fans were shocked and happy at the time. I can say, that after watching the last episode of the third season I realized that I need to watch it all over again. All the newspapers and blogs were writing something like “Lynch beats all the cinematography 25 years forward. Genius or Mad?”
I think that you cannot be a genius without being mad. So he is both.  If you want 3 seasons of awesome thriller-detective-comedy with the spirit of 90’s, you must watch it.

David Lynch is one of the few directors who could so vividly transform the plain surface of reality into a fantasy world of deep psychological ties. The people in his films are stories who have their own mindset and world to show around. The collision of these worlds is where the plot of his stories goes

Have you ever seen Twin Peaks? If no, then will you watch it?
What do you think of David Lynch as a person?

I heard a lot about about Twin Peaks and I'm really about to watch it soon, because it was warmly recommented to me. I love the spirit of 90's, especially about the USA or stuff like that, so it should be interesting. Frankly speaking, I must watch the series firsly and then I will be able to assess David Lynch and his work.
Actually I've never heard about it before, but it's probably connected with the fact that I'm not into movies in general, so it's no doubt I'm not into 90s movies as well, but thanks for telling me more about this particular one, maybe I'll watch it eventually :).

Even the scenario of a small town murder for future TV shows has been taken from Twin peaks
I’m actually in the course of watching it but I was grabbed by this dark, intense drama after its first episode. So many secrets, such an electric cast of characters and if you’ve watched it you know it’s truly a fresh take on a well known gender. I’ll be able to formulate my opinion about Lynch after I finish this show but I can’t wait for the final episode.

In my family I have two die-hard fans of Twin Peaks, so I did not have a choice but to watch it :) Not to say I did not enjoy it. I liked it a lot. Lynch's talent is beyond doubt and the series is very well made.

I found out there is Twin Peaks themed restaurant in London. It looks interesting: http://www.notwhattheyseem.com/

Have you visited his current exhibition in Torun?

I'm planning to go see it next month. I tried to get a ticket to the vernissage with Lynch himself but it was not open to public.

I must say that in most of his interviews he did not struck me as equally intriguing as his movies are until I saw this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSP-ewdJYJc How he tells the story while waiting for quinoa to cook is captivating.

Of course I heard about Twin Peaks but I have never seen it. I must watch it strating from first season. I didn't know that 25 years break between the second and third season is connected with story. David Lynch for sure is genius director. I have always wondered why this film had a 25 year break. Now I know.

Why would David Lynch be "mad"? I thought that waa a brilliant idea. I was surprised. I've never watched Twin Peaks and I don't think I'm gonna see it. Just because I don't like watching TV series.

I've never seen it, but heard of it. Since I'm not a TV series watcher, I probably won't watch it as I never have time for constant following any TV series.
Since I've never watched it, I don't have any opinion on the director.

1) No and No
2) Still a No
But seriously twin peaks is just not something i would watch and as i'm more interested in things that people create instead of people themselves. I don't really care who the guy is.

I have never heard about the Twin Peaks but after your post I will probably watch it soon. I have to admit that I don't know a lot of details about directors or actors. I read a bit about David Lynch and despite the fact that he gots a lot of prices I have never heard about him and I didn't watch most of his movies. Thank you for your post because of it I had opportunity to know him and it gaves mi opportunity to a try Twin Peaks serial. :)
I heard about this and I even watched 1 series of 3 new seasons so im not a big fan of this case I'm mostly preferred fantasy and some kind of trailer series.
I never seen it, but I might hear the title once or twice. I am not a big fan of watching the TV series, and I do not have a list of Series must watch. Maybe it will change some day. I do not heard about David Lynch, so I can't have an opinion about him.
As far as i watch many series i have never seen nither twin peaks nor David Lynch or i have never recognized him. Recognized? Nah to be 100% true i actually never remebered him. However it made me laugh a bit that someone recomend the only series that my parents are watch and i never got to it. Maybe there will come the time for me to see it.

Neither I nr my friends have known David Lynch before. I've read about it for the first time in this text. I searched for information on the internet about him and I found out he is a controversial director. He is considered as one of the representatives of postmodernism in film. After reading this text, watching the videos and finding some reviews of his film, I promised myself that I would watch at least three of his films. For sure I would like to watch his 'Twin Peaks' and 'Aflabet' and 'Wildness of the heart'. I feel that his films will allow me to spend some interesting evenings in December.

Twin Peaks is a classics, I have watched it for two times and I think it is really awesome. But not for everyone... And of course I know who is David Lynch, but I have never met him to make my own opinion;) so I can't answer your third question. But I still hope to find the time to visit Torun, where his exhibition is held right now. For me it would be very interesting and exciting.
I haven't tried to watch the new season, because I am always afraid that the new series would spoil my memories of good old ones, like it was with new Star Wars. And I have heard different reviews about it. Maybe one day I will give it a try. I am really surprised, that so many people have never heard about Twin Peaks before. "Who killed Laura Palmer?" - true classics:)

Tried to watch it after advise from my classmate but for me it just wasn't interesting and also started from season one which was filmed 25 years ago thus quality was awful for me and impossible to watch.

I've never seen Twin Peaks. Furthermore, I've never heard about it. And I think that I wouldn't watch it in a future because I don't like a trailer.

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases.
