Comments

I think that "Plastic surgeries for cosmetic reasons and good taste" by Paulina Stanek and "(Too) late motherhood" by Aleksandra Stodulska raised very up-to-date issues that were interesting to think and talk about.
The best presentation in my opinion is "The true success story of Apple's iPhone" by Sebastian Żakowski because it shown real data and was about subject that interests me a lot.

I think "Webcomics" (Katarzyna Buczylko) was my favorite, cause I learned about existence of some good comics. Especially the 'Ava's Deamons' one, pity it's updated so rarely.
I liked the presentation about "Week 10: Star wars: special effects" which was interesting :)

Almost every subject was interesting in some way :) But I remembered best 2 topics, and I even went deeper to get know even more, and these are:
"Week 10: Star wars: special effects" by Kasia
and "Week 5 (02.11 - 08.11) Nuclear Energy" by Helena

I also enjoyed all sport related articles – the one about crossfit written by Agata, about kettlebells – by Nina :), and Paulina's post about bike helmets

I refrain from voting this time. Many presentation this term presented very deep understanding of the topic and nice skill in writing. It would be unfair to vote for only one of them.
From the other side I'd probably could cast a vote for the worst ones as we saw some presentations presenting quite poor level. After reading some of them one could think a tool like Google Translate was used in the process of writing and after reading other it was clear that author didn't know the topic s/he wrote on or was very biased. Though I'll refrain from casting this vote either.

I like the topic about TV series, by Nina maybe it's a basic/daily but i'm sure that everyone watching some tv series and could add some comment about it.

I will vote but I agree that presentations should be held to a higher standard and require a minimum effort. Furthermore I think we could gain if our grammatical mistakes in the comments were corrected. At least those major ones.

My favorite presentations were "Living in a big city or living in a suburban/rural area" and last week's "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child"

I really liked "Star wars - special effects" - it was great to read it before going to see the new movie.

For me the best presentation was... Nuclear Energy.

Word. There were a couple interesting articles written this semester, and I would rather avoid picking one in particular because honestly I'd just do that at random.

There were also a few presentations that felt so forced I didn't really bother commenting on. Sorry about skipping some of those.

I explained my point of view under Oskar's Gargas comment - but if I still have to pick one in particular my vote goes to Magdalena Gawęcka along with her article about Mastery. Thanks!

it's hard to pick one "best" presentation, but i would vote for "Mental Ilness Myth" prepared by Jakub Miakisz. Presentation was very interesting and well thought out.

For me the best one was: Week 5 (02.11-08.11) Crowdfunding. The phenomenon of spending money on a possible product by Oskar. Interesting and popular at this moment topic.

The most of the presentations was very good prepared so it's really hard to vote for the only one of them, but I found "Plastic surgeries for cosmetic reasons and good taste" very interesting.

It's difficult for me to pick one, but I'll vote for "Social Justice Warriors" by Aleksandra. It explained a pretty important issue well.

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 9 [11.12 - 17.12.2017] Is Scientific Community Accepting of New Ideas?

We all want to believe that science is about pushing the boundaries of knowledge, breaking the status quo and persuading curious ideas, even if the majority of people find them unbelievable. But is it so? There are many cases of scientists who were disgraced and persecuted by the scientific community simply because their findings challenged the already existing beliefs. Humberto Maturana and Lynn Margulis Humberto Maturana is a prominent biologist who studied the examples of symbiosis between organisms: fungi that control the ants (there are farming ants that grow fungi for food) or the parasites that hijack the brains of snails. https://www.une.edu.au/__data/assets/image/0005/24791/leucochloridium-paradoxum.jpg Maturana wondered how is it possible that a symbiosis so complex as the one between a worm and a snail could ever take place? I t occurred it is actually a more general argument about the evolution. What comes first: the design or the applic...
