Week 10 [11.01-17.01] Personality tests

Take a look at the recently added Ted video “How do personality tests work?”. Let me know if you like it and what do you think about these kinds of tests.

1. What is your overall opinion on personality tests? Is it worth doing them?

2. Have you ever heard of the 16 Personalities Test?

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe are you an ambivert?

1. What is your overall opinion on personality tests? Is it worth doing them?

I think that it's worth doing, because you can learn about different personality types, and you can discover yourself more. But I wouldn't agree with using them while looking for the employee. It would be completely inaccurate this way.

2. Have you ever heard of the 16 Personalities Test?

Yes! I did it a few times, and it was always an interesting experience because I didn't remember my previous answers at all. I think that I always got the same personality type, but I may be wrong because it was a long time ago.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe are you an ambivert?

I think that I'm an introvert. I can spend a lot of time with my friends, but after that I always need a lot of time by myself, to regenerate.
1. I think it's fun. A friend of mine fills a lot of them and encourages us to do so. In addition, we often complete such tests with a group of friends from the perspective of another person to see how much our perception of someone differs from his conviction about himself. The results are sometimes really surprising, I recommend it to everyone.

2. 16 Personalities Test is one of my favorites. Mainly because it shows you famous people or fictional characters who can be assigned to the same acronym. In the case of this test, my answers from different periods and my friends' answers coincided very much. I believe the result of this test is generally true in my case.

3. I have a terrible problem with allocating myself and others in this category. I often hear from people that they declare themselves introverts, but after one beer they start screaming, laughing and arguing out loud with strangers. Other times, a self-declared extrovert will be open and active to only three friends, but completely closed to everyone else. It's not even being an ambivert, it's just extreme change to other side of the scale. We behave differently in a small group of friends and in a large group of strangers. This simple division doesn't make much sense to me because you can define each person differently depending on the situation and in both cases you could be right.
1. What is your overall opinion on personality tests? Is it worth doing them?

Well, I think that it's important to get to know yourself as well as possible. But I've heard some proverb that we know ourselves to the point in which we were tested.

2. Have you ever heard of the 16 Personalities Test?

Yes, I've heard about it and moreover I did it. I remember it was really long test but the result wasn't surprise for me, it just convinced me that an algorithm confirm my own opinion.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe are you an ambivert?

I'm totally extrovert. I hate being in one place longer than 10 minutes, so you can imagine how the lockdown affects me! I need people to be happy so the first months in isolation due to the pandemic was really hard for me. Nowadays, I used to this situation, but I really miss daily, ordinary habits like taking a bus or going to the restauration. This disease let me aware myself how lucky we are if we're healthy.

1.
I think they're the horoscopes of pop psychology. I think a reason for doing them is the same as reading horoscopes, for having fun.

2.
Yes, I've made it a few years ago and quite recently and what's interesting that my type changed slightly (by one letter) I went from an thinking type to a feeling one.

3.
I'm definitely an introvert and always have been one. I like spend time with other people doing cool stuff or just talking, but I definitely need a time to recharge my inner batteries.

1. What is your overall opinion on personality tests? Is it worth doing them?

Of course it does, it helps to understand yourself, other people and shows how to communicate with them.

2. Have you ever heard of the 16 Personalities Test?
Yes, I have heard about it. My results changed 3 times since a passed this test for the first time, but every time is was quite accurate and helpful.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe are you an ambivert?

My set of characteristics describe myself as an introvert person. The brightest character was already defined by my introverted colleagues above, is that being in public appears exhausting and requires time to rest.

1. What is your overall opinion on personality tests? Is it worth doing them?
I don't really know if they are worth it. I did them many times, and of course it was a fun experience, but it changed nothing in my life.

2. Have you ever heard of the 16 Personalities Test?
Yes, I have heard about it. I even did it with a colleague of mine at work while we were on a break. Both of us were confused with results though. We didn't really think it suits our personalities.

3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Or maybe are you an ambivert?
I consider myself a bit of introvert and extrovert. That's why I don't like the personality tests that gives you just one of them as a result. I sometimes tend to stress in social situations, but also many times I'm the most social person in the world.
1. I think it's fun to do them. It helps you understand yourself and others. I also agree with schools doing them. But when it comes to job application only your skills should matter.
2. Yes, I did it some time ago. As far as I remember the result was surprising for me of how accurate it was.
3. I consider myself an introvert (and the 16 personalities test showed that). When it comes to interacting with people I only feel comfortable with the ones I know well. Getting a new job and suddenly meeting 30 new people was quite challenging for me, but now we get along well.

I fully agree with you. Personality tests are interesting if we do them for ourselves. When it comes to work, it's better to bet on something more reliable.
I recommend you to take screenshots of the test results, then you will be able to compare the results over time.

@Karol Sołtysiak
It's a great idea to do a personality test with your friends! I definitely have to try this. Comparing our results, what everyone thinks about themselves and how they are perceived by loved ones, the overall results can be very interesting.
You’re right, the personality of each of us is a very complex subject. Of course we behave according to the role and situation we find ourselves in, and it’s often difficult to define it one way or the other.

@Milena Dziełakowska
This proverb definitely confirms the statement in the video - test results may differ if we repeat it over time. I state the same on my own example and when I performed this personality test after six months or a year, the result was slightly different.
Without a doubt, lockdown is a difficult time for extroverts. It had to be, and may still be, a huge challenge for you.

@Viktor Ryś
It makes sense to compare personality tests with horoscopes - we do them for fun. Have you come across descriptions of character traits based on your zodiac sign?
I believe that the changes within one letter as a result of the test are fully understandable. We’re alive, so our perception of reality and experience change.

@Illia Kalinin
I also think that doing a test like this can sometimes help us to get a bit of a picture of ourselves in our head. When it comes to others, I would be more careful, as noted in the TED material, the results may vary as the test taker considers what answer would be best seen.

@Rafał Halama
It wouldn’t be very wise to decide to change your life on a personality test of this type. The tests contain a grain of truth, but are they really able to classify all personalities into 16 types? Exactly as you wrote - sometimes social situations can be very distressing, even for a person who can be the life of the party.

@Jędrzej Kowalczyk
You wrote an interesting thing - doing a personality test at school. In fact, it can show children how different we are and how complex the human personality is.
As an introvert, it must have been difficult for you to take up a new job and meet many new people. It's great that you made it!

Week 12 (12.01-18.01.15) Are you an early bird or a night owl ?

Owls are nocturnal creatures. They’re wide awake at night and they sleep during the day. If this sounds like bliss to you, then, like about 20 percent of the population who find themselves most active at around 9 pm, you may fall into the same category as our feathered friend. Night owls often have difficulty waking up in the morning, and like to be up late at night.  Studies of animal behaviour indicate that being a night owl may actually be built into some people’s genes. This would explain why those late-to-bed, late-to-rise people find it so difficult to change their behaviour. The trouble for night owls is that they just have to be at places such as work and school far too early. This is when the alarm clock becomes the night owl’s most important survival tool. Experts say that one way for a night owl to beat their dependence on their alarm clocks is to sleep with the curtains open. The Theory is that if they do so, the morning sunlight will awaken them gently and natura...

Week 11 [03-09.06.2019] The problem with ecological cars emission in UK

The problem with ecological cars emission in UK Since the adoption of the European Emission Allowance Directive in the European Parliament, all car makers have tried to submit. Since 1992, the Euro I standard has been in force, which limited the emission of carbon monoxide to the atmosphere. The Euro VI standard currently applies, which limits the series of exhaust gases. These include: hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon oxides, and dust.   The most significant change was brought by the Euro IV standard. For the first time it introduced the limitation of nitrogen oxides, which are responsible for the harmful compounds of smog.   What is smog?   Smog consists of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and carbon. In addition, solid substances such as suspended dust (PM). Dust suspend in atmospheric aerosols may be in liquid and solid form. These can be particles of sea salt, clouds from the Sahara and artificial compounds made by people. These compounds...
