Nowadays people tend to speak only about coronavirus and how it affects our lifestyle.
The situation in which we are right now is very serious but fortunately the world won't be that way
forever. I find myself very often thinking about things I will do after this whole covid situation passes
and during one of those daydreaming sessions I came across one magnificent invention -
BBQ Party Boat!
In 2006 Sebastian Schmitt - a German inventor and entrepreneur - designed a circular sea cruiser
fitted with a grill which was later called BBQ Donut. Sebastian's main goal was to develop a device
which would enable people to spend time together on water while being able to consume delicious
dishes. To that point such an activity was only available by renting expensive boats which were
difficult to operate. It was a luxurious, whole day, leisure activity only for a few people who were able
to afford it. Sebastian knew that it is a strange concept that in order to enjoy your meal with friends
on water you need to have a sailing license, know how to sail and spend a lot of money on a boat.
"There must be an easier way," he thought to himself. As it turned out, there was no simpler way so
he had to be the one who invented it. BBQ Donut was the result of this idea.
BBQ Donut can seat up to ten people (including the captain). It has a specially installed low-smoke
BBQ and gives an opportunity for undoubtedly one-off social interaction. It allows you to feast on
favorite roasted dishes while sailing in a comfortable, safe and private atmosphere.
The boat is made out of Fiberglass or High Density Polyethylene which is a hard plastic compound
that floats by itself. It cannot sink, even when it’s full of water. The boat has a tiller outboard motor of
either 8, 10 or 15 horsepower. It travels at 5 to 7 miles per hour depending on wind and the
amount of people on board. It is designed so that BBQ grilling can be taking place while traveling.
In the middle of the boat there is a charcoal grill. For the boat’s safety, there is a "well" beneath the
grill with water to extinguish any hot charcoal that may fall into it. What is more, all boats have the
required safety equipment including life vests, an anchor and a paddle. It is meant for motoring on
the intracoastal waterways and not in the open ocean, so the sailors will be reasonably close to cell
towers, in case they wish to use their cell phone.
Some types of BBQ-donuts (the most expensive ones) are equipped with extra gadgets, like for
example loudspeakers. Mobile phones can be connected to them and play music during sailing.
Some of them also have LED lights to provide a party atmosphere for night time BBQ fun.
The potential customers for those boats are companies which want to start lending such vehicles
and restaurants which decided to organize parties and serve their dishes on water. Renting price
depends on the company owning those boats but the prices are low by default. Boats can also be
owned by private people who would like to have it on their own.

I have no idea what would be the fair price to rent such a boat for 3 hours. I think that it should be at least at the beginning a cheaper service than renting a boat to convince people.

Unfortunately I prefer to rent a regular boat for the evening with my friends. BBQ-donuts are a great idea, but I think that in such a small space and with the grill it could be hot and crowded. Besides, I prefer bonfires on land over barbecue.

My favorite grilled dish is chuck steak and to it agaricus with cheese and bread with garlic butter.
2. I think that I would choose typical small boat, because when you are at the grill party you usually drink beer which you can't on such a boat, because person who drives must be sober.
3. My favorite grilled dish is entrecote steak, but it's not healthy, so I only eat it from time to time. My second favorite dish is grilled asparagus.
2. It all depends on what we would like to do, I guess. It seems to me that BBQ Donut boat is more of a close to shore activity, mostly to eat and talk with friends while renting a typical boat gives you much more freedom and possibilities. BBQ Donut isn’t something that sounds fascinating to me, but it sure could be a one-time thing to do with friends.
Ps. Of course, it was invented by a German guy! The only thing missing is a freezer full of beer, haha :D
3. Piotrek, I love this question! I don’t eat meat too often, but fish are acceptable choice in my menu so my favorite grilled dish would be grilled fish with vegetables or garlic butter and dill inside it.
2. I would rather sit on the beach and make a bbq there. But if I had to choose over these two I would choose bbq donut simply to try it out.
3. Chicken wings is a go to for me. I like potatoes and fish with a lemon juice too but I hate getting rid of fish bones.

I don’t like sailing anyway so somebody would have to pay me to sail with any boat, but since this one is quite unusual, I would say 32 PLN for 1 hour would be a fair price

I would choose BBQ Donut over regular boat for sure. At least it wouldn’t bore me to death. Also, you can have a meal in it, so you don’t have to moor to land quite often.

My favorite fish is killer whale. I have never tasted, but I would definitely try it if I had a chance
Definitely it will depend to country where it is but for example in Warsaw - Zegrze might be a good place. The price can be like 200 PLN per hour or even higher what is not so much (200/8=25 PLN/h for 8 people). Cost of normal boat is like 100 per hour so i think this could be a price of BBQ donut.

Again i think it depends of what you want to do but at the end both options are great to try. If i will see oportunity to rent this probably i will do it.

I love meat, i can't imagine barbeque without meat. I like pork neck and chicken wings and i think this is my favourite right know.
I really don't know but for sure it should be smaller that the cost of normal boat. I've never rented either so I don't know prices but probably it should be something like 200-300 PLN for the whole donut.

I would definitely like to try a BBQ Donut, I find the idea really interesting. I could be a wonderful way to spend time with friends.

I like the pork neck the most as well as a grilled onion. The sousage is also ok. I think I've never eaten something other that that. Besides in a restaurant of course.
2. I would rent a typical small boat rather than bbq donut. For me this bbq donut idea is really stupid, because there is not fun of really swimming on it and i think it is to tight for six people to sit closely for hours and have to place to only in to water

In my opinion a fair price would be around 100-150 zl/hour. As far as few people can be accommodated in one boat that would not be really expensive.

After I have read the article and see the facilities available within this BBQ Donuts boat I think a small boat is not competitive whatsoever. In the middle of the boat there is a charcoal grill(which is not provided within a normal boat). Also the boat is equipped in a way that is totally safe according to the description, so definitely I would choose BBQ Donuts, also there are LED lights to provide a party atmosphere for night time, which is really advantageous.
3. What is your favourite grilled dish (vegan or non-vegan)?
I adore grilled fish with some vegetables.
2. I used to spend vacation on a sailing boat with my friends and I am afraid that at least some of them wouldn’t accept a boat which look like this. Especially the one who is our captain would almost certainly find it disgusting. For me, if our aim was only to drink and have fun, it would be very nice.
3. I like sausages (or should I say “kiełbasa” – the real name used even abroad) and black sausages the most.
I think the price in the range from 70 to 150 PLN will be acceptable for such entertainment, since the lessor will not spend a lot of money on this business, and the demand for such a donut will be very high. I think people with families and friends will appreciate this entertainment.

Personally, I would be interested in trying to spend time on such a donut. That is, if I had a choice, then I would choose a donut. I am 100% sure that my friends would support me.

Most of all I like grilled meat steaks, I also prefer a set of vegetables and mushrooms.

To be honest I think that such activity can be high priced for sure. This is quite a niche thing to go BBQ on the water. If you ask me, if it is able to fit around 8 people, then the price for 3 hours should be at least 200. Smaller versions could cost less like for 4 people.

Well, if there is a one time opportunity to try the BBQ Donut, I would go for it. My friends would also want to try something as unique as BBQ Donut.

It does not matter for me whether it is vegan or not. I like different flavours and I will go with the simple stuff. I like grilled pork with some herb seasoning and corn with melted butter in it.
Paying attention how much does it costs, I would say that 50$ is a fair price.

I would not as I prefer to have a place to stand on just to straight-up a legs from time to time but for a short evening like 3 hours... who knows, I must try!

I'm a frugal person, so I would definitely choose a less luxurious and cheaper version.

It is not very popular to rent such stuff so it should be quite cheap so people would get to know how it is like to rent such thing. If wide group of people would like it and this boat would become popular then the prices would be justified to rise up.

BBQ Donut seems fun and I would love to try that. On the other hand I think it may become very dangerous f.e. if it is windy and the boat would flip someone could get hurt because of how hot the stuff is inside the grill.

I love grilled steak but generally I like everything grilled (vegetables, potatos, salmon, sausages etc.)
2. I would rent a typical small boat, fireplace or BBQ can always be made on the shore there’s no need to take it on the middle of see for example.

I think for 3hours a fair price would be 200-250PLN. but this might change according to how hard maintenance of the boat is.

Non-vegan, I like meat so much.
Compared with other similar entertainment services, I think this could be around 150-250 zl. Or let's say 40 zl/person, but the minimum number of participants is 3.

I would rather rent a typical small boat, on the other hand, I would also like to try new thing once, so BBQ Donut is a good idea. However, I hope I won't need any toilet when I will be eating there.

To be honest, I am not really into BBQ, though I think my favourite one should be pork neck.
In fact, I don't know because of a lack of knowledge about the price on other boats, and because I don't have a lot of money to judge the price for boat honestly.

I think that I would prefer regular small boat, and then have a BBQ on the shore. I feel like eating on BBQ Donut would be very messy, and not fun at all.

I think that for renting such a boat for 3 hours in Poland it would probably be PLN 200, but I think that the fair price is PLN 100

I think about 15-20 PLN per possible person so about 150-200 zł per rent. For this much i would deffinitely give it a go.

I think everything would depend on the first impression, because if I liked it,I'd like to hire it again, and if I thought it wasn't worth the price, I'd just hire an ordinary boat next time.

My favorite grilled dish is steak. I love its taste, especially when it's grilled. When I eat a grilled steak, I think about my holidays and I just relax.
2. I have dilemma. Such a BBQ pontoon would be a great option for meeting friends, but as always, when there is a grill there is alcohol and in conjunction with water it could be dangerous ... I would not rent a normal boat so I could only wonder if I would rent this kind of pontoon with my friends.
3. I like everything grilled, chicken and pork, as well as garlic bread and vegetables. I love the summer season and meeting family or friends at the grill.
In my opinion, about 150 zł/hour would be OK. With such price it would be affordable even for small companies.

I think i would choose BBQ Donut and my friends and i would buy a lot of bear and drink there. I dont think we would be able to stay there more then 1 hour (not because of alcohole but because it may become boring and somebody got sun hit)
