During this year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) Microsoft announced its new game – Microsoft Flight Simulator. MFS is about to use modern technical solutions such as serving game’s data from cloud storage or using artificial intelligence to fill incomplete terrain. Moreover, the game’s world is based on real world’s weather and year cycle data and it uses a satellite imagery for its graphics. These features, apart from the whole extremely complicated simulation mechanisms, could take game development to a whole new level.
Let’s watch a short video that presents brief information about the game.

Here are some questions about games, economy and flying:
1. Using cloud storage as games’ source of data we could experience e.g. gigantic in-game worlds such as one in the MFS. Do you think cloud based games are the future of gamedev?
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
Comments
2. It would be certainly good to have - maybe it would encourage more tourists to visit our country then.
3. No, there is nothing to be afraid of. Statistically it's much safer than driving a car etc.
2. I am a foreigner so I don't know anything about CPK. For me Chopin Airport it ok, so I don't understand why to build the new one.
3. Little bit yes, but it is the fastest and safest transport that is available now.
2. I am rather skeptical about this idea (to be honest like other genius ideas of our government, but I'll try to be impartial :)). First of all the idea of building the central hub in the middle of nowhere is ridiculous. Ok, sorry for everyone who comes from Radom, but as I just checked in Google Maps it's distant from Warsaw for above 100 km. Sure, you could say that a lot of other cities have their airports a lot kilometers away from their suburbs. Let say Stockholm, Oslo, Milan (with airport in Bergamo), Munich (airport in Memmingen), but those airports ARE NOT the main and central ones. There is also another really important difference between Germany, Sweden and Poland... there is a way of difference between our infrastructure and the good example is the estimated time for train travel between Radom and Warsaw - it's 2,5-3 hours. Ok, maybe it gonna have a good impact on the growth of Radom, but I am not sure if it's a purpose on a scale of a whole country. To be honest, I would rather go to Cracows airport and spend some time there in the meantime rather than spend 3 hours on my way to Radom.
It seems like I am completely skeptical about this idea, but it's not truth. The idea itself is pretty reasonable and it comes from statistics - there is simply no big airport in Central Europe and it would be used for transfer on long connections. The question is, does the location is good enough and doesn't end up like a few small airports in different parts of Poland and a lot of others in Spain.
3. To be honest, my life is driven by calculations, statistics, and facts, so based on my knowledge it is one of the safest ways of traveling. :)
2. I think that a massive airport somewhere in the middle between Warsaw and Łódź is very much needed. Firstly, because neither Warsaw, nor Łódź are big enough to justify extending existing airports and moreover The Chopin Airport placed in the middle of the city is an obstacle on the way to develop the districts around it. See for example the Tempelhof airport in Berlin, which was closed. I think that even Modlin should be closed as only one airline uses it, but there are usually a couple of small airports around cities in Europe, so I guess it is fine, however the connection with the city is pathetic.
3. No, I am not, simply because it is statistically very safe. I am more afraid of travelling by car for that reason.
I just agree with comments above. I have nothing to add.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
Actually I know nothing about it.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
No. I believe in statistic. It is one of the most safety means of transportation.
Yes i believe it is possible, we have faster internet connection everyday and at some point of time even mobile devices may get compatible with such technology and we will be able to play huge games while driving in the bus. But before this technology get's popular we have at least few generations of typical console and PC based games.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I believe it is a good idea and a possibility for our country to shine on the global flight map, especially if the words spoken about this project are all true.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I was afraid till last holidays when I had to fly by plane to Bulgaria. Actually during the take off I was more excited then scared. Of course many people are afraid of flying as you are hundreds of kilometers above ground, but the truth is that nowadays flights are almost as common as buses and the accident are at marginal percentage. It is easier to die in bus or a car then on the flight.
2. To be honest CPK topic has not caught my eye so far, but after briefly exploring basic information on my own, I think it's a good investment. It's true that the place where this solution is to be created seems to be a bit unreasonable, because it's too far from Warsaw itself. They say it would take about 15 minutes to get to Warsaw from there, but I really doubt it. The investment is to provide about 150,000 new jobs, which is a huge number and is really impressive. However, the entire project includes not only the airport itself, but also several thousand kilometers of railways and roads. The investment is to be built in 8 years, personally I think that it will probably be extended. In addition, there is still the topic of money, I'm not sure if our country can really afford such a thing.
3. I'm not afraid of flying. Personally, I have traveled this way many times before and have never had a problem with it. After all, according to statistics, it's the safest means of transport in the world.
2. I think if well planned its definitely a good idea. Such an investment can bring benefits for transportation, aviation, logistics, and other related fields. It will also boost employment and leave space for the adoption of new technologies and ideas.
3. I am not afraid of flying I treat it as a normal way of transport.
2. I like this idea. Most of the biggest european cities have their "distant" airports and it works really good (I know that Warsaw has also Modlin, but it doesn't have to be the only one). I believe that it will also support PLL LOT in growing as one of the biggest european airlines.
3. No, I'm not. To be honest, I feel on a plain much safer than on the road, as I'm sure about the pilot's skills, in contrast to many drivers.
Lets go back to 2009. We asked, “is there a market for mobile games?” Now we come back to 2019, I think definitely yes, they will be the future of gamedev, moreover, we will be able to just use a phone or an ipad to play games like The Witcher 3. however, even if the game companies will still have the ability to purchase powerful enough cloud services for huge number of players, I don't think my network will have a future:P
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
To be honest, I don't have any idea about this, but as a foreigner studying here, I totally support it as long as it will bring benefits to the country.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
No, I enjoy it, eating a plane meal is also a wonderful life experience, moreover, the probability of a flight accident is very low, the only thing I don’t like is that my ears hurt during the flight.
1. Playing in the cloud, and especially keeping data in them, I don't think is a great future. It seems to me that such a solution will only be needed to store large structures, data, such as maps that we see in MFS.
2. CPK has real chances to become the main hub for Central and Eastern Europe. In terms of aviation, the geographical location of Poland is simply perfect, so it's time to take full advantage of it. In my opinion this is a great idea.
3. I'm not afraid to fly, I love to fly. These feelings associated with taxiing or landing an aircraft are invaluable, as well as views from above.
2. CPK is an incredibly huge project, big risk but high reward. If it's successfully finished it could provide a huge amount of new jobs, and ease the transport problem. The biggest problem is money, I'am not sure if our country should spend such huge amount if we have many more dire problems.
3. No, for me, it's very relaxing and calming. I was flying a lot when I was very young, so I got used to it.
2. The concept itself is cool. This is a great convenience for travelers, especially tourists. Only it must be sufficient distance from Warsaw. So that the journey from CPK to City Center does not last e.g. 40 minutes. That's why I think the last location suggestion is good.
3. A little yes. I have done it too few times in my life and I know that it will be better in the future.
2. I don't see an operational sense in it, but certainly many people will make a profit and find a new job in this sector. finally the taxpayer will pay for it, the question is whether the profits will be higher than the costs. Generally, I think that we are too small player on the market as an air carrier and as a country in terms of attractiveness and importance in the world. I don't understand why people assume that someone who wants to fly from Paris to Seoul will want to stop in Poland. From the point of view of the airline, it is also cheaper to make a direct flight than to organize connecting flights.
3. I'm not afraid to fly. I really like flying and i feel passion about aviation.
As for Chopin Airport, it is said that it reaches it limits regarding to ammount of passengers.
Like you said the idea of the hub is pretty good but as always it should be done decently. But we all know how many of projects in Poland are done..
PS. The planned location of CPK is not Radom 😅
It's many kilometers closer to Warsaw than Radom is.
There are many new roads and railroads in a construction plan of CPK, so that people from Warsaw could go to CPK in 15 mins by train and up to ~3 hours from every other city in Poland. Wish them good luck with keeping their promises 😁
As for the CPK, we could only hope that they do it properly and that they keep to the plans. And don't forget that CPK is not only an airport but the whole infrastructure around it and also roads and railroads.
For example at the begining of this month UE gave us a dotation in the amount of 2mln euro for a 30km part of railroad in Silesia as the part of integrating the polish infrastructure to make CPK assumptions possible.
And that's the whole case - "if the words spoken about this project are all true" 😄
As the one that was horrendously scared for the first two times I must agree that this is statistically the safest possible way of transport. Additionally, my fear lead me to do a research about many aspects of flying. I watched a lot of youtube videos about it and the more I know the more safe I feel.
Thanks to this technique, this year I had almost no fear before and during my flights. I definitely recommend such a way of dealing with your fear of flying if you have one.
That research has also resulted in the Microsoft Flight Simulator appearing in my YouTube recommendations so here we are 😂
Its exactly like you said - everything is perfect on a paper but the future will show how it will end up in reality.
Definitely a good points you made. If well planned and executed.
It's exactly what I thought some time ago. If we consider that pilots are highly trained then compare them to every common car driver then.. well..
A lot of work, money, years and plan changes ahead of us but maybe some day we will shine :)
Fantastic that you are able to take a pleasure from flying.
As for the planes. I also done it just few times but it's get better and better every time. I recommend getting some knowledge about planes behavior during flights and some various procedures connected with flying. It really helps to overcome your fear when you know that those moves and sounds that plane makes in the sky are natural and are nothing you can worry about.
It is also really helpful to know how well trained the pilots are.
2. In my opinion this megaproject may be beneficial for polish economy and tourism. Moreover this airport will serve about 50 million passengers annually, so this projekt can generator profits, create new Jobs and make Poland more attractive for potential investors.
3. No, I am not afraid od flying, because it connotes with journey and pleasure. In addition flying shorten the duration of journey, it is more convenience and safer.
This is great idea, as Poland has pretty nice location in the center of Europe, so in there we could connect it with land transport.
I'm not afraid of flying, I believe in statistics :-D
I think that most likely - yes. If you look at the development trends of modern technology giants and large corporations, you can say that this is pretty good business. Most of them over the past few years have paid great attention to cloud data warehouses, and this is justified by the fact that data volumes are growing and reserves are required for their maintenance. I am not an expert in this field, but it seems to me that the gaming industry is no exception to these trends.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I think the centralization of communications management is very convenient. From an economic point of view, this is also beneficial from a management point of view. All resources will be at hand and convenient to manipulate. In addition, the construction of such a node will strengthen the role of this idea at the international level, I think such an idea can bring significant changes to the global transport map.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I'm not afraid to fly. Probably because often you have to do it and it all started in childhood. Most modern people also. Today, flying in airspace on airplanes is already a common thing, and as if it is just one of the modes of transport, like a tram or train.
2. I think that this is a great idea not only for economic reasons but also will affect the tourist attractiveness of our country.
3. No, I'm not afraid of flying.
2. I think whatever helps people to travel faster is great. However, there are also other factors as it might cause great inconvenience to all people being close to that. It should be done, but with brain.
3. Yes, I am. I hate heights and I'd rather travel by train or boat than plane. Even thhough it causes less accidents and deaths. The perspective of being that helpless once accident occurs is terrifying.
2. I believe that CPK should be built. A week ago I read an article that the Chopin airport and the Modlin airport are practically full. If there is a demand for air services, another airport should be built.
3. No, I'm not afraid to fly. Aviation is currently the safest form of transport. Crash statistics confirm this.
2.I think that any development of transport is very much needed in Poland to make travels around country and over border faster and pleasant.
3.I have never been on a plane so even that is the safest way of transport I don't know if I wouldn't feel uncomfortable at such heights. I'm eager to try.
It will make harder to fly from warsaw for example when the airport will be located so far from the city.
I'm not. I base my opinion on statistics and the data that is more likely to die from falling from the bed then in aircraft accident.
Yes of course ! We would save a lot of memory on downloading and updating our games. More people would flash to afford the game in this case.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
In my opinion this is a very good idea. We will have more control over transport, we will be able to notice much more shortcomings in the system in which it works.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I fly very often and I'm not afraid of it. The number of aviation accidents is incomparably smaller than car accidents.
Yes, I think so. Because it’s reduces cost and is easier to get by more potential users
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
Nothing particular. Well maybe it will be noisier around CPK and maybe air will be more contaminated but as long as it’s not too close to me I’m good.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I don’t think so. Well I've never flown a plane so I only guessing.
2. In my opinion, at first glance, the construction of CPK is a good idea, however, based on the opinions of experts, we still do not have enough specific information about the investment to be able to clearly state its long-term impact on transport in our country.
3. I'm not afraid of flying, based on statistics, air transport is the safest means of
transportation. However, I think that there are moments during the flight such as take off during bad weather or large turbulence that definitely speed up my heartbeat.
as long as playing the game locally will result in better response time and performance, all competitive games will be played as they are currently.
Cloud gaming is a great idea but for games that don't require the best in class response time.
2. In my opinion building a transport hub in Poland is just a matter of time, as our country is getting more and more popular in terms of outsourcing.
At some point, such hub will become necessary to handle all the traffic that will be generated by all business and vacation trips.
3. I am not afraid of flying, because I trust the statistics.
2. I think Poland need one big airport. But it must be well placed. We have to remember airport is not only one thing. It's only one part of big system which is for example infrastructure. CPK can be this type of airport (what Poland need) but I think it will be failure.
3. I'm not afraid but also it's not comfortable for me. I know it's one of the safest type of communication transport but I have still this one thought, I cannot take break like driving a car.
2. I think it’s a great, benefit-driven idea. CPK will improve transport connections between cities in Poland as well as transport connections between Poland and other countries consequently more tourists will come to Poland and as we all know - given its high potential, tourism therefore contributes to employment and economic growth. To sum up this investment will carry a lot of benefits for our country.
3. No, I am not afraid of flying at all, what’s more I can honestly say that I love flying. The views from the window are beautiful, I’d even say they are breathtaking. I think it’s great that we have the opportunity to see the world from the birdseye perspective. Moreover flying makes me feel free that’s why I love it so much.
I’ve seen the preview of this game a couple of times and I must say that it looks fantastic. I am aware that this is a very early version of the game but if that is a new direction which gamedev is choosing, then I can say a strong YES. I have been thinking for a quite long time to play a game which main point of development would be focusing on reproduction of some city.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I don’t like that idea. We don’t have that much passengers to handle every year like other countries. We are not a country where many interchanges occur like e.g. on Heathrow, Charles De Gaulle or in Hamburg. I think that Polish government is too ambitious in this topic or it’s just a some sort of lobbing which we don’t see.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I am not. I’ve always traveled by plane as I remember. My sister lives in France and my parents used to took me there as a small child so I guess I am used to it.
2. I have no opinion about it, as I'm not well versed in such things.
3. We are not afraid to fly, but to fall :) But, actually, I have never flown, so I can't answer that question.
I totaly agree that cloud based games are the future of gamedev and i totaly like that idea.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I'm not interested in such topic so i don't really care.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
It depends on the plane but i would say no. We have such high tech so I can't see why i should.
2. It would be encouraging simply from touristic point of view to build massive transport hub
3. I have mixed feeling about flying as my only 2 flights were as I was a kid. If i had to fly by plane, I would be scared at the beginning, but I would get used to it.
2. I have mixed feelings. Airports like CPK are still being built and are commonplace. However, the distance from Warsaw could be smaller. But Poland needs a large airport, not necessarily at this moment.
3. No I'm not. Statistics show that traveling by plane is safer than traveling by car.
2. I am not sure if it is really needed, Germany is already a big flight connector in Europe.
3. No, I did it so many times and usually it’s only fun, except long 12 hour flights.
2. This is a difficult topic, the main question is how much power the government would have over it.
3. I am not afraid to fly but I prefer to travel by car, it is more interesting and I like to drive.
Yes, I think this solution is the future. It will allow players to explore enormous open worlds which seems very attractive. The only issue is that creating such big worlds needs a lot of work so this might be an obstacle that game developers are yet to overcome.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I am not really into this topic. However, I don't think this is the right investment for our country, at least right now.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I am not afraid of flying. I don't really like travelling by plane because of all those security checks and time spent on the airport.
For sure, yes. It opens such a lot of new opportunities for users and developers! Users wouldn't care are our computers are powerful enough, developers wouldn't need to spend such a lot of time for optimization. Also games could be much more interesting.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
I don't think that it is a necessary problem right now. To be honest, I am not tracking the situation with airports in Poland
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I don't afraid of flying. There are so many chances for human to die. By statistic, there is larger chance of dying simply crossing the road than during flight.
2. I heard that Chopin Airport it's getting too small to handle it's airport traffic. I can't understand why they don't want to expand Modlin Airport...
3. No, I've flown many times. I am not afraid because there is nothing to be afraid of ;))
Yes,that is very good idea.
2. What do you think about building a massive transport hub in Poland? (CPK – Centralny Port Komunikacyjny)
2.It is good idea especially that we have just 2 airports in warsaw which one is very small.
3. Are you afraid of flying? Why or why not?
I am not. I never was scared but fascinated to be above ground.
